Gentlemen, big day today! Sinner is taking on Medvedev in 2024 AO final. The Italian was pretty convincing throughout the tournament, eliminating Novak Djokovic himself on the way to the final. However, Medvedev shouldn't be underestimated - he also played very well in Melbourne this year, defeating top players like Zverev. The Russian has more GS experience, particularly playing in the later stages, like finals. Not sure if this is going to help him and will be enough to come out victorious in today's final battle. I placed a tiny bet on Jannik because I'm not quite sure of the outcome, despite bookies considering him an overwhelming favourite.

This was probably one of the best comebacks that I have ever seen in my life. And this was also probably one of the best comebacks ever made by Sinner. Medvedev was about to win the match, only if he got one more set. He won the first 2 sets and was looking very confident. But Sinner made a really good comeback and actually won the match in the end. The final score was

Sinner  3 3 6 6 6
Medvedev  6 6 4 4 3

Congratulations to Sinner for being able to win the Australian Open final.

Well its definitely the best comeback by Jannik thats for sure, we have seen Djokovic
give his opponent a 2 set leat in a grand slam before so its always special to see that.

Jannik has worked hard on his mental fortitude and self belief and today is the ultimate
reward for that. He deserves that win for sure.

actually the odds for final win of Sinner are @1.34/1.40 really low considering this is a SLAM Finals against a not-underdog. At least on paper, bookmakers are taking an high risk on Medvedev... The italian guy has been strong during the whole tournament, I hope he has not "the stress" feeling like other important finals.
Anyway, be ready for a great show !

I wonder what the odds were on him when he went 2 sets down to Medvedev?

Well done Willi!

What is the magazine about, please tell

Its basically about Bitcoin and tailored towards new people IMO, Satoshi's whitepaper
is published in it, there are a lot of sketches and basic messages in it.

I have to say though its more of a book, its heavy, printed on really good quality paper,
and the quality overall is top drawer.

Just at the very bottom of the cover is printed 01 The Bitcoin Issue" it can be hard to
see that!

Some good pics there I'm just working my way through putting down some wagers - I've just placed some on the Perth 7's which are due to start any minute now.

Mens: Argentina ($1.06), New Zealand ($1.22), Fiji ($1.30), Ireland ($1.50) and Australia ($1.13)

Womens: Canada ($1.06) Australia is suspended against GB who are languishing on $23.00!

The six nation's is still another week away.

Damn in the first set of pool matches yesterday AUSTRALIA let me down !!

I didnt do any bets today, been too busy to study who was playing who but checking
the mens results I have to say Argentina are looking pretty good and are in the semi finals
against....Ireland, I'm happy with that but TBH I wouldnt bet against Argentina.

The other semi final is Fiji v Australia!

On the womens side the semi finals are Ireland v Great Britain and Australia v USA.

This weekend is a chance for the #1 teams to pull ahead of the competition, Womens:
Australia and Mens: Argentina.
385  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 27, 2024, 01:09:09 PM
Ladies final tomorrow. Sabalenka is going to face Zheng. Last year's AO champ is a favourite of course, but the young Chinese can shock the tennis world by beating WTA #2. Belarussian is showing perhaps the best women's tennis since Serena. She is more experienced and has more titles, including GS.

What worries me the most is the slight performance drop Sabalenka showed in a match against Gauff. She lost momentum and was kind of hesitant , confused and lost her focus a bit. If something similar will happen tomorrow vs Zheng, she could potentially lose the match.

A kind of predictable result looking back, Sabalenka is too strong ATM. The final score
looks like an easy match for her 3-6, 2-6 in 76 minutes.  I dont think there is anyone who
can trouble her this year.

I believe Zheng is going into the top 10 and Sabalenka is closing in on the #1 position
to put pressure on Swiatek.

Rugby 7's Mens Today

Its really the giants against the minnows in the first games
Australia to beat USA
South Africa to beat Spain
Argentina to beat Canada
New Zealand to beat Samoa

Total odds 1.55

Betting on 7's I find can be tricky, top teams can lose first rounds and still go on to the finals...

387  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 26, 2024, 07:24:48 AM
third set of the semifinal between Djokovic and Sinner. Italian guy has one point break as advantage and now he is serving for the final...

This match is probably a sort of "handover" between the two players.
I have been supporting the theory. Roll Eyes for years that Sinner is a sort of predestined (and even Nike agrees with me, given that he invested 100 million USD in sponsorship...).

Be ready for next gen...

B O O M - Sinner has arrived and exploded into the final by demolishing Djokovic.
He has dropped his first set of the tournament but in the end won 'easily' 1-6, 2-6, 7-6, 3-6

I agree bitbollo, more and more the next gen are making their mark, tbh Sinner should
be able to win the final now against either Medvedev or Zverev if he can be mentally
ready which we know he can be.

This is brilliant for Jannik and for my bet !
388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 25, 2024, 07:45:05 PM
Daniil Medvedev struggled against Hurkacz but won in five sets to reach the semifinals. Zverev is playing his best tennis since injury and played an incredible game against Alcaraz and passed an important test. He is one of the most in form men's singles players at the moment and it's nice to see Zverev so motivated again. Zverev has a tremendous serve and he will need it against Medvedev. There is a tension between the two players that spills off the court and it will be reflected in the match. It's hard to pick sides in this match but Zverev's recent performance seems to explain some things.

I am really surprised from Zverevs performance. He showed (his) top tennis against Alcaraz. While he was on the brink of elimination in the previous rounds, he showed against Alcaraz that he has developed further. In particular his first serve  was much better than before. He had always have problems with that. Also the whole body language were much more focused and better than before.
But he also had a great development in the past and then his performance took five steps back again. So I do not see him as the favourite in the match against Medvedev.

Personally I'm not all that surprised, he has been playing great, he seems to be carrying his
good form from the United Cup into this grand slam. Medvedev up next, you would think
having beaten Alcaraz he can beat Medvedev but things dont always work out that way!

Its a Sabalenks v Zheng final, Coco couldnt beat Sabalenka today, thata a pity
for her and for my bet. It kind of has to be a Sabalenka title this year again I think.
389  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning] Trezor users are receiving fake emails with phishing links. on: January 25, 2024, 10:56:06 AM
I'm surprised at how little noise this is making when you compare it to the same situation Ledger experienced a few years ago. It's strange how different the media and the community as a whole reacted in both situation Ledger/Trezor, which are almost the same (a leak/hack of their customers database).

In any case, you have to be careful and not use your personal data when ordering a hardware wallet. I'm glad I didn't use my personal details when I ordered my Ledger back then, and my Trezor last year. 66,000 doxxed users is not nothing.

It pays to be very vigilant when receiving emails from any service provider and in this case Trezor.
Its important to take a moment and not click on any links straight away, pause and try and verify.

paid2 how can we not give Trezor our personal details if we want to order a wallet and have it delivered
other than having a PO Box number which not everyone has? am I missing something?
390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 25, 2024, 07:50:21 AM
Medvedev needed 5 sets for reaching the semi-finals. Hurkacz played more risky in this match, while Medvedev played it for safely. That was interesting to watch. It was a match that took a lot of energy. Medvedev said in the interview, hes is totally exhausted but happy. Now he can recover a little bit and watch who his next opponent will be. Alcaraz or Zverev.

Medvedev has never been a good tennis player in my eyes. Hurkacz fought well, but Medvedev came out on top.
It is a fact that Novak plays tennis more effectively despite his age. If Novak had not been banned from the Australian Open when he was anti-vaccination, he could have become the Australian Open champion that year too.
He is one of the favorites this year too, but there is a threat like Alcaraz. I am looking forward to seeing how Alcaraz will perform in front of Zverev.
Medvedev passed this round, only to be crushed by Alcaraz in the semi-finals.

Define "good player". Medvedev is real good, his is an ex #1 ATP player and a GS winner! If you mean he has poor technical skills, I agree, but that doesn't make him a bad player. There are thousands of players with perfect forehands and backhands and serves and volleys but unfortunately they can't win in a competitive match.

Anyway, WTA semifinals are known:

Sabalenka v Gauff
Yastremska v Zheng

The Ukrainian qualifier Yastremska is the biggest suprise of this tournament. And her journey is not over yet.

Now watching Zverev v Alcaraz and it's 6:1 Zverev first set. What a surprise! My bet is on Carlitos so I'm praying he's gonna come back.

yes two womens semi finals starting with Gauff v Sabalenka in less than an hour.
The odds are Gauff 2.75 v 1.45 Sabalenka. I really hope Coco can get past Sabalenka, I
know deserves have nothing to do with this but she does deserve a crack at a grand slam
final. Like the Djokokvic v Sinner mens semi final I'm putting a small bet on Gauff, she
does have a chance.
391  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Join the revolution world wide on: January 24, 2024, 11:48:51 PM
So this revolution is essentially about paying workers higher wages.

In Europe for example there are basic workers rights and each country has a minimum
wage agreement in place, I think per country it works out differently for example in Germany,
Ireland and the Netherlands its higher than in Spain , Greece and Portugal because
the cost of living is higher there.

I'm not sure how easy it is for companies to be forced to pay workers higher wages, some
smaller business cannot afford to do that. Its easy to look only at what the employee takes home
in wages but there is also the burden held by the employer of having to pay TAX for each
employee, particularly in my country.
392  Economy / Speculation / Re: Self control cannot be neglected as an early investor on: January 24, 2024, 08:45:13 PM
It is not only applicable or not to be neglected even by old timers mate because this is an attitude
a trader/investor/gambler or any one in the world of money making must have because if you cannot control your
Emotions and mind then what waits you in profiteering? you will end up being a loser everytime because you cannot
manage your self in either seeking for more or selling for less in aid of desperation.
As most have pointed out, its easy to get side tracked and have a momentary lapse in the
DCA vision. I'm sure its happened to everyone, I include myself! Just look at it as a reward
for all the previous DCAing

The main thing is you can refocus, learn from mistakes and continue to DCA.

As leadt you can enjoy the game OP.
Learning is one step from Failing , we must not afraid to lose because this will thought us how
to be more vigilant and knowledgeable over the days.

Well as we say in my country sometimes "every day is a school day" meaning we learn
something every day. Its important to be able to identify a mistake and remember to
not duplicate those mistakes.

and in the end of the day according to the OP there is no serious harm done, onwards
and upwards!

Technically I don't like it at all and I don't think it's good. He is a tennis player who won the 2021 US Open championship, but I do not like it. Once upon a time, there was Goran Ivanisevic, a Croatian tennis player, but I never liked him either. He beat Patrick Rafter in the final with no technical skills, only hard serves, and became the Wimbledon champion. For example, both Nadal and Novak would be technical and the fight would be extreme. Medvedev is someone who has also won ATP championships, but he is not the tennis player that interests me. I also respect those who like it.

Well he has what it takes to win matches, be consistently reaching quarter finals and
semi finals and winning tournaments, they might not be grand slams but he has a lot
going for his game, he isnt ranked #3 on world rankings for nothing! Of course not everyone
likes him, but thats not the point and he doesnt care.

Here we are again, he is in another semi final to play Zverev, for me its hard to call
this one, alot of people would expect a Djokovic v Medvedev final.

I have my bet on for Sinner to beat Djokovic, Imagine a Sinner v Zverev final?

First thing is to differentiate between "crypto" and "Bitcoin", they are different spaces.

The OP's thread title can be answered with the rush of some people to try and ride a
potential $hitcoins meteoric rise and winning a much sought after 1000x reward, this
thinking will never end, to me its like trying to draw the shortest straw from a choice
of like 100, 500 maybe.

The days of "big profits" from Bitcoin in a short space of time is not going to happen
and those attracted to "crypto" rushing for profit wont be looking at Bitcoin.

Right, well the Olympic Rugby is about 6 months away, there is a lot of rugby, world, club
and 7's to be played.

Busy weekend ahead, lots of choices to hopefully pick a few winners.

Top14 - Round 13

English Premiership - Round 12

United Rugby Championship - Round 9 but only 1 match Bulls v Lions, the only 2 teams
to have only played 8 matches instead of 9.

Rugby 7's - Perth Australia, Round 3 and Argentina mens sitting pretty on top!

397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 23, 2024, 04:41:14 PM
That was a great performance from Sinner. Very impressive. In general, his performance at the Australian Open is very consistent and at a high level. He has always won in 3 sets so far while the others have lost at least one set. i mean those who are still in the tournament. So he will not be an easy opponent for Djokovic and we can certainly looking forward to an exciting match.

Yea unbelievable from Sinner, 2 easy enough sets for him with a wobbler in the middle on
a tie break. Its true he has still yet to drop a set in the AO and is looking strong to meet
Djokovic on Friday. Looking at the odds now Sinner is at 2.8, great chance of an upset
with decent odds. Djokovic is at 1.45.

Djokovic dropped a set against Fritz today and even had a tie break thrown in but of course
he is hard to beat over 2 sets, he can drop the first two sets and still win the match, thats
been proven twice I think.

Sinner will walk over Rublev. He was in real danger of losing 2 times already.

What I'm really looking forward to is the Sinner - Đoković match.
I hope the odds on Sinner will be good, I plan to bet big on anything over @2 odds, and I expect it to be closer to 3.

You scared the sh*t out of me, mate! I read your post like: Sinner v Rublev walkover. I frantically started browsing news websites to find out who withdrew and why. After not finding anything I re-read your post and understood what exactly you wanted to say.  Grin

Anyway, all quarter-finalists are known, in ATP Djokovic is going to face Taylor Fritz, Sinner is taking on Rublev, Medvedev v Hurkacz and Alcaraz v Zverev. In WTA, Sabalenka will face ninth seed Barbora Krejcikova, Gauff will play Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk. The remaining quarter-finalists are quite unexpected: Zheng will play Kalinskaya and Yastremska will meet Linda Noskova.

My predictions are as follows:

Djokovic v Sinner
Medvedev v Alcaraz

Sabalenka v Gauff
Kalinskaya v Noskova

I agree with frka, Sinner should bear Rublev.

Jannik had to have been eying up the possibility of a match up with Djokovic,
this potential match up is as big as it gets, meeting Djokovic who he beat last year
a multiple winner of AO and getting past him means a very much stronger chance at
the title.

I think I would do a bet on him too if the odds are nice.
400  Economy / Speculation / Re: 112 days waiting for bitcoin halving!! on: January 22, 2024, 01:43:05 PM
Many are eagerly anticipating the Bitcoin halving, and I don't hide the fact that I am too. I am convinced that this event will be a game-changer for the bull market, and I believe we'll have excellent opportunities to see new all-time highs. I think this is the perfect time to increase demand for Bitcoin, especially with the recent news about ETFs coming into play.
Common mate you have been here since 2015 and I believe that you already understand what you are saying here, of course everyone is anticipating halving because of what market have shown us over the years  , for how many halving have we experienced here , it is normal to expect growth in the after halving.
ETF is just an added flavor and yeah maybe a game changer for this market so lets see what is coming when it happened.

Also we have to consider that the same will happen to the market after the halving
as what happened after the ETF approval...the opposite to what most people were
expecting!

So we will probably get a rise up leading to the halving and  and increases will already
be "priced in" and there will be a sell off after then to recover and go for a new ATH.

Thats the way I see it happening similar to the last one.
