1361  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I love politics and I want to be clean politician! on: March 29, 2023, 09:06:34 PM
Today, some leaders have taken politics to such a level that now when people hear the name of politics, they say corruption and anarchy. Political pressure comes from many quarters if one conducts his activities like an ideal politician after taking oath. As a result, even if he wanted to manage politics well, he failed. If you want to change such a system of politics, you have to do it from a very big position, then it is never possible to change the political system from the grassroots level. But since you have made such a wish, I congratulate you. Hope you will be a successful politician in future. But never compromise with injustice always follow the path of justice and take politics to such a level that people see you as an idol.

This is similar to my view in terms of a democratic system of politics. Politics is much
much bigger than one leader, or political party, there is a massive political machine
at various levels of importance.

That machine is made up of the leader, his political cabinet, the advisors who
are specialists in various fields, the political party and national members, the civil
servants at various levels right down to local politics and then the opposing politicians.

To come in as a new leader with a new team and try move that machine is very challenging
and while trying to keep "everyone" happy means there has to be compromises and
deals made in order to get certain hurdles crossed and  jobs and targets done.
I think it's impossible to get everything done without doing "deals" but that shouldnt mean
becoming corrupt to only think of whats in it for yourself.

I’m going to go ahead and disagree with everyone and say that it is not possible to be a clean politician. This is because the machine behind you will not have the funding and support of industries that would prefer to have a bought and paid for politician over somebody who might share similar beliefs. I’ve seen corruption even in my local Home Owners Association. I can’t even begin to comprehend the corruption involved with elected government officials.

And then of course as OgNasty says there are the exterior pressures from lobby groups
and industry leaders who generally wont see anything wrong in trying to corrupt
a political leader in order to progress their own situation....generally speaking.

Rugby Union - European Rugby Champions Cup

This weekend we will have the Round of 16 before next weekends Quarter Finals.

I'm keeping an eye on Leinster and fancy them for at least the final if not the title but
this week it was revealed that the Leinster and Irelands Talisman - Johnny Sexton
will likely miss the rest of the season due to a groin injury.

Only 3 teams unbeaten in the competition so far, Leinster, Rochelle and Toulouse.

Who am I betting on:

DHL Stormers at home to beat Harlequins
Leinster at home to beat home rivals Ulster
Rochelle to beat Gloucester
Toulouse at home to beat the Vodacom Bulls

Rugby League - NRL Australia

Todays game - Roosters v Eels - I'm picking the favourites the Roosters @ 1.5.
Head to head the Roosters are out on front and I have read that the Eels are
still missing a few key players (eventhough they beat the Panthers last week...)
1363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Design a crypto issuance system that keeps earning easy and cheap on: March 29, 2023, 07:56:18 AM
What the OP is suggesting is really an altcoin and there are and have been thousands
of them.

There is no value in "easy and cheap" unless you are the creator of an altcoin.

The fact that Bitcoin is difficult to mine adds to its value which in turn makes it expensive
to acquire. Its deflationary nature feeds into the "supply v's demand".
1364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 28, 2023, 05:57:34 PM
My main pick for today is Sinner, he is playing better and better and I expect he will be able to use those moments when Rublev looses a bit of focus to turn the match on his side.

My main ticket has Sinner to win @1.55 and my small stake ticket has Sinner to win 2:0.

Yup I have a bet on him too just win, I wouldnt be confident to bet on a 2-0 win though.

He is definitely playing better and better, his change of coach last year is definitely showing
positive results.

Rublev can suffer from his emotions when things are not going well for him.

I think this is the only bet I'll do today ...
Looking good for our bet so far. Sinner wiped the floor with Rublev in first set, just hope second will go in same direction. In a way it is easier for player to lose a set without chance like Rublev did then to lose it on last couple of points in tie break. Loss like this is much easier to forget and he can enter the second set with clear head. First few games are the most dangerous for our bet here.

Yup Sinner overpowers Rublev 6-2 & 6-4, nice one although I do like Rublev, extra
congrats to you Trofo on your 2-0 bet, nice call.

Fritz got the better if Rune in 2 sets 6-3 & 6-4, I thought that too would have gone the
distance at least.

2 big ones coming up later, Khachanov v Tsitsipas and Alcaraz v Paul, this one
I hope to see, I think Paul could trouble Alcaraz....will he win? I think he has a
fighting chance. He is big underdog @ 5.4...

Two more unexpected winners/losses!
Hurkacz losing to Mannarino is unexpected, although thinking about it Hurkacz is at a level
I think which is below his capabilities, much like Felix AA IMO. Sonego is going really well, I wouldnt
normally bet on either him or Tiafoe, Frances can be unpredictable.

Anyway some very entertaining matches coming up today particularly Paul v Alcaraz, I think
Paul could post a fair bit of difficulty for Alcaraz and it could be a close one...

Alliassime vs cerundolo is not going as i expected its a totaly different game from the last one they had few weeks ago, cerundolo won the first set easily and the second one seem tied at the moment but i still think aliassime can turn things around he's been in a good shape recently.
The first set too a big win for Cerúndolo, as Aliassime have lost the first set of the match 2-6. The young player have been fighting hard and the second set is lead by Cerúndolo 6-5. Big Performance have come from Cerúndolo. It looks like Auger Aliassime is feeling down, even in his previous match against Monteiro he won the match in two direct sets, but both the sets were won on the tie breaker 77-65 710-68.

I did say Felix AA was not performing at his usual level but I still backed him today,
I thought he would still prevail but yea going out in 2 sets is not great for his capabilities.
Cerundolo I learned was a semi finalist last year, yea I learned that after he beat Felix....
Well done to Cerundolo, he gets his revenge after Felux beating him at Indian Wells!

You are not too late, you just find the reason to keep supporting Bitcoin, to keep holding your Bitcoin bag. My confidence in Bitcoin is now 100%.

Not getting on your case OP but for a lot of newbies its very easy to be positive
over these last two weeks when the Bitcoin market is in Bull Mode. What happens
when/if the market drops sub $20,000 and stays there for a number of weeks?

1.) ignore the manipulators and the FUD
2.) stay positive and patient

There isn’t any late hours to bitcoin because just like in the past no one will is certain of the how far it will grow in price. Just buy during its deep and be patient to hodl for long.

Absolutely, for the long term anytime is a good time to buy.

Another disappointing result for Casper Ruud, in the third set he was already in the lead as he managed to break his opponent's serve but he was not good enough to maintain his advantage and Botic managed to take the final set to win it. Ruud hasn't shown anything good this year unlike last year where he was able to last quite a while in a tournament.
Today's match that will be interesting is Khachanov vs Jiří Lehečka, Lehečka beat Mussetti convincingly in the previous round, in the match against Khachanov it will be more difficult for him but he has a chance to beat this opponent and could be with a long match of 3 sets. Lehečka will probably beat the seed in this tournament again, he has been quite impressive in the previous rounds.

Yes, I agree, Khachanov - Lehecka will be one of the most interesting matches today. Here's an overview of today's order of play (provisionary winner in bold):

ATP
Garin v Tsitsipas  Easy win for the "Greek God", Garin is only somewhat good on clay but even there Stefanos is leading 2:0 H2H.
Khachanov v Lehecka It's gonna be along, exhausting 3 set match. Anybody's game really. My hunch says Lehecka.
Auger-Aliassime v Cerundolo Felix's time to shine today. H2H stats are with me on this: the Canadian leading 2:0.
Hurkacz v Mannarino  Easy 2 set match for the Pole.
Sonego v Tiafoe  Good performance in Indian Wells for Frances, he's good on home courts like most Americans. My bet is on him.

Let's bet and watch some awesome matches tonight! Good luck!  Cool

Good synopsis, I agree with them all FWIW. I have a bet on all those ATP matches in
some form or another but I'm steering clear of the Khachanov v Lehecka.

I will probably watch more WTA matches but wont bet on very many compared to the ATP.
1370  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 27, 2023, 06:40:49 AM
I saw the last set of the Davidovich Fokina v Paul, that was a tough match, very close and
some fantastic shot making by both. Paul has been playing well lately and took the
win 3-6, 5-7.

I also saw the first set of Schwartzman v Rune. Diego was no match for Rune who was just
better all round really. Two sets again 4-6 & 2-6.

Interesting match later today, Felix AA v Cerundolo, this could go either way IMO, Felix has
struggled a bit in his last match beating Montiero in two tie breaks!

Three wins from five so far with the remaining three games to be played this afternoon.  The Rabbiohs won in golden point in another low scoring game which tells me both teams are fairly equally placed at the moment.  The Rabbitohs game play last week got stronger as the game went on and they capitalised on that this week.

I'm still fairly confident the remaining three teams will do well today.

Only 1 from the remaining 3 Timelord ! I didnt do any bets on todays games, I was really
happy with the wins by the Rabbitohs and Cowboys yesterday. The Sea Eagles are
actually not bad, the golden point was a killer for them, it could have been the other way too.

In the URC I only did 2 bets this weekend, the second was Ulster to win at home against
the Vodacom Bulls South Africa which they did 32 - 23. I managed to pick up odds
of 1.55 which are not bad.
1372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is storing bitcoin is more secure in iPhone than in an Andriod phone on: March 26, 2023, 11:27:50 AM
As many have said iPhone is more secure but I wouldnt trust it to store a large amount
and for a long period of time.

We are constantly on our phones, installing and removing apps, connected to the internet,
leaving it unattended and what not.

A smartphone wallet IMO is perfect for small amounts for regular transactions but long term
I trust my stand alone hardware wallet.

Yes, thats one of the best ways of adding value to low odds. I won my first combo's
yesterday with 6 matches and a $2 stake im not a high roller, my stakes wont make or break me 😉.
Thanks to Trofo regarding Muchova but it was Fucsovics v Rune which added the value.

Todays combo may not turn out the same way though:

Felix AA, Norrie, Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Tiafoe all to win.

I am not convinced that in the long end this is profitable. It doesn’t make sense to combine multiple 1.01 or 1.02 odds as the total odd is still low. It can go good for a long time but you only need to lose 1 or 2 of this bets and all your profit will be gone. Everybody needs to have their own betting strategy but I tried this in the past and didn’t end up in profit in the long end.

So yea from reading the posts above its not a great tactic especially with such low odds

The second one I did on yesterdays matches didnt come through, Norrie let the combo bet
down losing to Barrčre quite easily 6-3 and 6-2, and Tsitsipas got a walkover against Gasquet
which changed the overall odds too.

Same here, I am almost never playing odds lower then 1.6, seems to me like the chance to get them wrong is almost the same and payout is nowhere near as good if you actually get them.

I am always looking for games or set handicaps in tennis, both can be very profitable if used properly.

That's actually a true point and I think in tennis it happens relatively often that a player turns it around when it seems that there is no chance left. I might be biased with my perception though, but I have this feeling of going for some risk and then not doing it and regretting it in tennis more often than in soccer. I don't know what you think, but there are these games where it is not worth it to bet on the leader of the game or the favorite, especially not when it is for odds of much smaller than 1.6 as you said. The payout is not worth the risk, but the opposite, betting on the guy who has odds of 9 or 10, I have quite often had this feeling and then didn't do it.

What about an in play bet, waiting for the heavy favourite to possibly get broken or to go
behind in a crucial game but believing he or she is going to win in the end? the odds can
change to something more favourable.

(although I have tried that before and most times it didnt work out for me)
1375  Economy / Speculation / Re: INSTEAD OF CRASHING BITCOIN RALLIED. on: March 25, 2023, 07:05:27 PM
many had feard bitcoin would go dip,
There are always a vocal minority who have such weird expectations and even call that "speculation". Some of them are even referred to as "experts"! The fact is that they have no understanding of bitcoin, its market and in some cases economy in general Tongue

Yes, and there are probably those who are holding our for a Bitcoin *correction back to $10,000.

And I'm sure there are some who think they can infleuence their followers and try to affect the market
to their advantage.

And one can say that this year with the current  activities happening in the banking sector,we might just see bitcoin getting to its previous high of nearly 69000k,and iven surpass it to have a record high..
I agree but at the same time we should consider that the market is so much more complicated than that. The banking collapse is going to continue being a strong cause for the price rise (in the future too) but also recession is going to be a negative force that prevents more investment from coming in to help the future rises.
Specially when FED is still keeping interest rates high and there is a risk to increase them even more, things could get uglier.

Also since Bitcoin was born there has never been a global recession! we are in unchartered
waters, same as regards a global pandemic and the resulting quantitative easing, its
all to some degree affecting the Bitcoin markets.

Watched a great match today: Sakkari v Andreescu. Andreescu is back on top of her form, playing her best tennis. I feel quite confident betting on her. She won this one in three.

Other exciting matches to watch/bet on today:

ATP: Huesler v Paul - I wouldn't bet on this one should be very intense but also very interesting. Fucsovics v Rune will be another thriller match!
WTA: Kvitova v Noskova - also can't recommend for betting but it will be fun to watch! Also Fernandez v Bencic worth watching!

I don't normally watch/bet on doubles but this one is super-interesting: Fruhvirtova sisters v Pegula/Gauff!

I will make some "easy" bets today: Ruud v Ivashka, Sabalenka v Rogers, Alcarazv Bagnis, Sinnerv Djere easy money, maybe will even go for a combo!

Almost forgot this one: Zverev v Daniel - as easy as taking a cookie from a baby!

Yes, thats one of the best ways of adding value to low odds. I won my first combo's

Yea I'm following the scoreboard, I picked up the Cowboys at 1.7. i have the Rabbitohs at 1.63 also

Damn, that was a close game. between the Dolphins and Broncos. Not being able to
kick points is a massive weakness.

I think I remember for example a few years back England rugby union winning a
game against I dont recall but by just kicking penalties!

Anyway in the URC yesterday Leinster remain unbeaten but my bet didnt come through
because they failed to beat the Stormers.

22 - 22

Table is going to be a bit skewed so!

URC Round 16 starting this evening.

Big game on - First place v Second place, Leinster v DHL Stormers, can the Stormers manage
to be the first team to beat Leinster this season in all competitions?

Personally I dont think so, I have the home favourites to won @ a not too bad price of 1.51,
but then again this bet might follow the streak im having lately, a losing one at that!!!
1379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 24, 2023, 07:23:08 AM
The biggest surprises that I have seen was yesterday in the match Murray vs Lajovic.

I thought Murray would be able to easily beat Lajovic but this was quite surprising especially he lost in straight sets, didn't see the match so don't know exactly how he played but usually Murray will be able to go at least 2-3 rounds before finally meeting a tougher opponent and lose

Yes, I was also very surprised that Murray did not win. Have not watch the match either but was a bit surprised that he lost in the first round. I would be interested to know what happened.

Actually the match between Ruusuvuori and Krajinovic was supposed to start right away. But that match was cancelled. So Ruusuvuori will play against Bautista tomorrow.
Another interesting match could be Lehečka against Coria. Otherwise the matches that interest me more will start tomorrow.

Me too, I am dissapointed Murray lost obviously because I had a bet on him! but yea
it happens but probably not too often to the top players that often.

All the top seeds in the round of 64 play today including Alcaraz who plays Bagnis,
and Medvedev tomorrow plays Carballés Baena.

Interested to see how this pans out for both and when and if they meet each other again!
