Dogie, where we can keep hitting f5 to check for a new firmware ?

I THINK its at https://github.com/blockerupter/avr_hbc, but they'll publicise it once its ready.

Woah we're potentially getting a firmware update? That's good news.

I didn't say that at all? I was asked where I thought the repository was, so if it was to be published, where it would go up. I said I was guessing at the above link.

...probably why I qualified it with "potentiallly"....

Yes but its the same as saying we're "potentially" going to colonise Neptune...
4462  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S3 Setup [HD] on: October 03, 2014, 11:28:44 AM
Is there a link to a newbie guide on how to get started once you've got the hardware up and running?  I've got a S3+ that's powered on and I've got a blockchain account.  Want to try Slush's pool, but don't know where to start from there.  S3+ is powered on and connected to the network.  I've logged into the settings and set the correct date and time and location but don't really know where to go from there on setting for hashing.  Any links or setup guides (after the hardware)?  Should I upgrade to the newest CGMiner 4.6.1?  Is so, how?  Thanks in advance.

Follow the instructions for this guide. When it gets to put in your miner details, register with one of the mining pools below (or with slushes if you really want). I've got the information you need to enter for those pools as a quick reference guide already there, so you might want to use those.

can someone give me a step by step on how to setup the wifi part of this? cheers

I'm not sure you quite realise how much money you're going to end up burning to matyr yourself in the UK, to get nothing out of it. You would have to have absolutely proof of fraud to have him permanently stricken from UK directorships.

Can we get actual proper specs on the included PSU?

Is this close?

1400w or 116.66A continuous 12v output? Assuming 88% efficiency, that should read as about 1591w at the wall if the miner is consuming 1400w DC correct? Who manufactures the PSU? I get a little nervous when I read "custom PSU".

It's 1400w at the wall.

No, I'm pretty sure the PSU can output 1400W DC. PSUs are never rated with what they draw at the wall.

Its a 1400W DC PSU, ie 116A @ 12V.

0a) What to Expect (top)
The Prospero X1 by Black Arrow is a small, consumer unit that includes a controller and power supply. It is the only miner on the market that utilises just
one internal ASIC, and also the only miner to have so many ancillary features on a smaller miner.

Chips1x 28nm Minion
Hashrate~100GH
Rated Voltage12V
Rated Current8.3A
Power.Consumption100W

0b) What You Need (top)
You will need a few accessories to get started.

Click your flag to find everything you need to get started at Amazon!

1) Powering (top)
X1s come with an internal 140W AP187 PSU by Sunshine Electronics. Its an unusual formfactor which also uses a 20 pin output to power the miner. This
means you can NOT replace it with a conventional PSU. Please note that it requires a "Mickey Mouse" / Cloverleaf cable rather than the usual C13 - see
section 0b for links.

2) Cooling (top)
The X1 utilises a 200mm CoolerMaster MegaFlow 200 which is near silent during operation. Air is pulled in through the bottom of the case, drawn through
the heatsink and PSU before being exhausted out the top of the case in a negative pressure tunnel arrangement. The Minion ASIC itself features an
aluminium finned heatsink with four copper heatpipes distributing heat.

3) Case (top)
Each unit is full enclosed in a The S3 is entirely enclosed in an extremely strong aluminium case. I personally had problems with the screws holding my unit
closed, such that many had to be drilled out. This is not likely to be a common problem. Later revisions come with a touchscreen LCD display and full
Android device. A keyboard can be plugged into the miner via USB to help type so the miner can be standalone. Later revisions may also come with an
external Wifi antennae.

An X1 measures 222 x 205 x 80mm and weighs 2.1kg.

4) Configuration (top)
The X1 is standalone and does not require an external controller.

Wiring:
  • Plug in an ethernet cable from the X1 to you router.
  • Plug in the power cable from the X1 to the mains.

Configuration:
  • The unit will automatically power on.
  • The unit will ship with DHCP enabled, and so your router will assign it an appropriate IP address automatically.
  • If you have an LCD model, the IP address will be displayed on the LCD. If not, using a browser, navigate to your router and find the IP it has
assigned the S3 and navigate to that IP.
  • Login using "user" as the username and "blackarrow" as the password.
  • Select "Prospero" on the left, and then navigate to the "Pools" tab.
  • Click "Add Pool" and enter your pool information in the below format.
  • If you have multiple X1s, you can then copy this pool information to all of them quickly using the "Sync Network" button.

Looks like it's down again?
Has been since when I went on holiday the first time this summer. I've yet to catch up with things.
Might be a good time to fix it with all the legal action going on.

Just took delivery of my S4. Cost an extra $220 at the door for customs in Canada.

Nice looking box, kill-a-watt is reading 1308w on 240v.

Going to have to reverse the fans as the airflow won't work for my setup.

Why wouldn't you just turn the box round Cheesy

and im only getting 35-40gh, what am i doing wrong

Got a screenshot?
4473  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Avalon Avalon2 Setup + Silencer Mod on: October 02, 2014, 08:42:41 AM
BFGMiner 4.6 (just released) can now support Avalon2 devices - even alongside other devices or more Avalon2 devices.

Do you have decent fan logic/thermal control? The stock avalon2 cgminer driver has a limitation where fans don't ramp until >59degC which is just way too hot for my application.
I'm not sure that's something the host has control over...

There's definitely some software limitation preventing full control of the fan, ie the fan refuses to go lower than x rpm even though the fan itself can go significantly lower. It simply stops responding to the PWM % if you set it any lower in the configuration.

So this is really underclocked tube, nothing new in the unit ?

There are new things in the unit, if others want to believe it or not is another thing.

I guess thats the whole point regarding AM's strategy. ... They got a massive amount of chip to unload, the rest depends on you/the community.

Still lots of chips to unload? Also the community owns nothing to AM. It's their job to get their stuff right.

... you're critical about any company which isn't STech.

Have anyone clocked it to 300? and what are the hw errors at that rate?

Hw won't change much @300 if you're getting those results @290.

4479  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Avalon Avalon2 Setup [HD] on: October 01, 2014, 07:09:10 PM
when i try the raspberry pi method i used the image file included and my raspberry pi just load a bunch of stuff then freezes and it wont connect to the router.

You absolutely sure you imaged the SD card rather than just copying the file onto it?
yep i used windiskimager on a formatted sd card

Hmm I'm not sure, its definitely the right file.
i have the raspberry pi b+, do i need the raspberry b or a for it to work? (im a noob with raspberry pi's)

Not a clue if b+s need a different image, sorry.
4480  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: October 01, 2014, 06:44:29 PM
Any idea when batch 10 of the S3+'s will be available to order?

Its currently the long Chinese holiday, so will have to see. Problem with the S3s is they're expensive to make, and they'll have to compete with the S4. If consumers still want S3s they'll get S3s, but at the same time if they didn't like S4 prices then they likely won't like the S3 prices.
