481  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Hi i do Challenge to start from today with capital 3$ trading on: December 21, 2023, 02:57:42 PM
I see your capital OP is very small but what is your goal actually? Making it $10 in a week or in a month?

It is quite interesting to see its progress but honestly OP, having this amount and only trading shitcoins, you just waste your time unless you find it worthless anyway. If I were you, better have the challenge start with $100 and your chances of growing it is huge but if you force yourselves to trade with $3, after a few days now you probably quit.
482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: December 21, 2023, 01:12:06 PM
A pressure for the handicappers? Lucky for those who turned agaisnt Magnolia as what you mentioned,  they let DYIP to score and cover the handicap,  they just aimed for the win and stop putting that points for the score board, which is unusual I mean not for magnolia,  as I said they are known to cover the handicap especially if they are in the lead.

That rig issue for some bettors will come up and we can't blame them to think that way, but nothing that they can do but to move forward, just another day to reassess for the next coming games.

I thought that was money in the bag already as who would have thought that from 30 point lead, it goes down to just 13. I'm not a believer that there are riggings in the PBA but with what happened last night, I'm starting to believe that there must be something wrong with that game.
Now you can consider a possible rigging the next time you analyze your bet. Usually in rig game, those who losses are the public bettors, means, that time it was the Magnolia who are the public bet as everyone believe Magnolia will easily beat the DYIP with a huge margin. To make it look like an exciting game, and in fact it excites the magnolia bettors at the beginning because it was a clear win already, but damn, that 4th quarter was completely what they are trying to make it happen.

BTW, before that game started there was somewhat an acknowledgment that "Arena Plus" is one of the sponsors of PBA, what a coincidence.

Pardon me, I'm a bit confuse, how was it (Arena Plus) related to sports rigging?
483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 21, 2023, 12:31:09 PM
Magic with Banchero losing against a Buttler-less Heat. Herro and the Heat's bench did a great job.

Clippers also putting on a clinic right now but let's see if they can hold out. There's still plenty of time for the Mavs to turn it around and coming back from 20 points is quite common in the NBA now. I expect Norman Powell to do another great job and scoring at least 15 points to cover for PG.

It's great that they won the game without Butler. They showed that Miami Heat can win difficult matches without its star player. Herro and Adebayo were the team's top scorers, and in general, every player in the team contributed to the score.
Haywood Highsmith also had one of his best games in a long time and was a big support to Miami's victory Smiley

Probably this is one case that Herro really came up big in scoring as I will say that the team is really struggling for now as we all know that they are a new team, I mean some of  their players that really contributed to their finals appearance last year was no longer with the team.

And it's just about time for Herro to step up, he had a good contract so him and Bam and Butler are the core but they need someone in the caliber of Gabe Vincent and Caleb Matin, maybe it could be Haywood Highsmith as you have said.

Herro signed a contract of $120 million for 4 years, so that's really huge. Though the contract is not as big as the main star of a team but to earn over $20 million per season, only few of the players are making that. Good thing that Herro is still with the Heat but if there are more opportunity for the Heat,  I think he is a good value to trade, so he needs to keep producing for the team so the trade will happen.

How about Herro+ player/s in exchange for Lavine, is it a fair trade?

By the way, what team do you think will acquire Kenneth Lofton Jr.?

Memphis Grizzlies waive Kenneth Lofton Jr.
484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin create an opportunity to reduce poverty? on: December 20, 2023, 09:56:02 PM
I don't see Bitcoin as a solution to people's poverty because it is a volatile currency. Where there is a possibility of loss after investment. Moreover, those who are poor will not be able to keep enough money to buy bitcoins. But if one can buy and hold Bitcoin for a long time then he can definitely get multiple or more of his investment. Poverty alleviation through Bitcoin is possible for those willing to take this risk. But one must take a decision after knowing well about Bitcoin. Investing here only for profit motive is more likely to reverse. It is an independent investment platform so anyone who invests here can be profited.
Not at all but the only thing that Bitcoin helps us to change someone's life. IF all people invest in Bitcoin we can expect that all will also improve their living but having the fact that not all are interested and has the capability to invest this will never be a solution to the poverty issue of the country. Still, the government's participation has a big role in solving the poverty of the country and helping grow the economic system of the country but if the leaders and all government officials are corrupt, nothing to expect from them instead, they are making the situation worsen.
485  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are we expecting between now and Bitcoin halving? on: December 20, 2023, 09:39:40 PM
First bull run coming up for me and after seeing the price of Bitcoin rally in the last few months particularly it is getting me somewhat excited for what is to come over the next few years.

I am just wondering what we are all expecting between now and the Bitcoin halving in April next year. Is it going to be a steady climb till then or is there usually a crash of some kind?

Well, the impact of halving is quite huge and it obviously helps the price increases. But understanding the market behavior and its volatility, still we can expect some price corrections before and after halving but I believe there are more pumps rather than dumping scenarios. It is too hard to assume but I was predicting that the price of Bitcoin would reach $50,000 before halving, it was not far from the current price and I believe it has a bigger chance to make it.
486  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction is pending because fee was too low, now what on: December 19, 2023, 01:08:11 PM
Thanks a lot for all the help, I think I finally have some understanding of fees and the mempool!!
Actually, you're not the only person who is worried about the situation, if not all, but most of us. What I did is that I kept checking on https://mempool.space/ and waited for the fees to drop, $8-$10 is somewhat acceptable for me. And also, better move your Bitcoin is bulk just to save fees and time.

In your case OP, the best thing you do is to either;
 - increase transaction fees ( check https://mempool.space/ for the fees)
 - wait until it confirmed
 - or wait until it returns to your wallet as it exceeds that time of unconfirmed transactions.

487  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 19, 2023, 12:56:47 PM

I guess they can make to the playoffs they are having a good run now so there's high possibilities that Clipper could sustain this since they have 4 star in their team which can totally dominate the floor.

That's what they are showing now, a domination. Beating the pacers by 24 points is a strong statement since Pacers played in the in season tournament, so they are considered as a good team. Also, before they struggle with scoring, now, they reach 151 points, that shows how the offense are flowing very well.

This game, they shoot 50% or 19 of 38 beyond the arc, imagine if they maintain that consistency, they'll be hard to beat since they the big 3 can also attack the paint, especially Leonard with his consistent mid range.

Leonard, 28
PG 27
Harden 35.

These numbers aren't achieve before.

To see their big 3 to score like that, it would easily result to a win because there's a balance scoring. I've never seen the Clippers as strong as this, it's just right that they put Westbrook in the 2nd quarter as he wasn't as accurate as this 3 in terms of shooting, and since Westbrook loves to hassle, he should preserve that energy well, so with limited minutes, he would be effective that way.

Westbrook played 17 minutes only, but he made 10 points from 4-6 shooting, that's quite high for him since his FG% per average is way lower than that.

Actually both teams are shooting over 50% overall, it's just that the Clippers got 50% beyond the arc, which is a big difference.
488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: December 19, 2023, 12:15:13 PM
For me if PBA players are earning as low as 30k and some are not getting paid at all it indicates  struggles 100%. Possible reasons could be poor management (like change the current commissioner) or a drop in the league's income. To fix this they might need better revenue sharing, more sponsorships and financial rules to ensure fair pay. Improving the league's structure and marketing can also help financially.

PBA is not struggling in terms of finances. Way back pandemic, they even stated that they could afford to play for 2 seasons with a really costly bubble conference. The PBA is backed up by giant companies and those companies own those popular and talented players in the league.
They aren't struggling but in terms of profitability, the business is not anymore profitable because the audience they are expecting are not watching anymore. Specially now that Brownlee is injured, that's for sure would result to Ginebra missing the PBA Finals, unless the PBA will try to do some magic and make them reach there.

KIA and Blackwater can't pay their players the same as big giants in the league. Therefore, these players have to work for their improvement for them to be able to be scouted by giant teams. That's the reason why small teams in PBA won't grow as competitive because those talented players who got drafted by these small teams have no choice but to accept a better offer by giant teams. Loyalty is useless if these players will only paid small.

I think there should be a standard of salary, because if these two teams can't pay their players, they can only get a team that aren't competitive, which overall make the PBA not a balance league.
489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risk management and responsible gaming on: December 19, 2023, 04:37:17 AM
Unsure of the direction of this thread but if you are saying that governments put in controls to help people I'd say it's minimal and I don't see an issue with that.  It's like smoking cigarettes, not much countries are doing about that addiction either.  I'd say it revolves mostly around all of the money they rake in from people's addicitions it's sad.

As long as it's still acceptable the government will continue to allow the operation of a casino. More casinos to operate, more taxes they'll collect, that's a basic business principle on their part. There are other countries who don't allow their citizens to gamble because they know it will likely cause an addiction to them, so instead they only allow a casino to operate and serve the tourist, and let the citizens work within the casino.

At the end of the day, it's still the government decision that will be followed, if they can't control it, they'll likely ban it, but for sure they'll find a way that addiction will be control at a manageable level so it's a win-win situation for all.
490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can I ask for refund if casino game has bugs? on: December 16, 2023, 02:01:59 PM
I want to know if you had similar experience or if something similar has happened in history ever.
This happen in just few months ago where two guys placed a bet and won over #137M equivalent to $137,040,000 and the bet company refused to pay them claiming and defending itself that one of the staff made some mistakes while generating the betted game odds.
https://www.okay.ng/1xbet-faces-accusations-of-refusing-to-pay-n137-million-in-winnings-to-two-nigerian-bettors.
This really sucks on how gambling sites only focused its terms and conditions towards it benefits without considering the gamblers to be justified.
It was still debatable if they would pay for the winning prize or not but supposedly, from our understanding, the casino should pay for that because it was their fault. In fact, in the case that we are wrong on our bets, they will never find it as an excuse. These kinds of casinos are totally scams, they don't want someone to take money from them but just love to take money from us gamblers. Until now, there is no proof that the casino offers a fair solution to such a problem usually, the decision is still in favor with them.
491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: December 16, 2023, 01:40:12 PM
What are your thoughts on the Brooklyn vs Warriors tomorrow?

Warriors are back at home and will be hosting Brooklyn, as we all have witness the struggle of the Warriors, the question is, can we still trust them to win even at home. By the way, those who aren't updated, Draymond is suspended so Warriors are gonna be playing without Draymond in most of their games.

The handicap for the Brookly is +3.5, I'm thinking of betting on the moneyline.

The intensity of the Warrior's game without Draymond Green is different but they are playing on their home so a bet for the Nets is so risky I think as the Warriors are still deadly in their homecourt.

I am more inclined to bet on the Warriors' opponent if they are on the road but at home, I will shy away from betting on this game.

It's hard to trust the Warriors now even at home. Based on record, they are 5-6 at home and have only covered 2 of their last 9 home games. So with that stats, the advantage was on the Brooklyn nets because they have the plus points. Additionally, the Warriors taking a big lead early doesn't guarantee they'll win as we have seen them gave up big leads in the previous games.
492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: December 16, 2023, 01:14:35 PM
The particular story has gone viral in my locality, just this afternoon I heard some people debating on the stupidity of the gambler, saying it was utter foolishness for anyone take or actually think of even taking his life. Gambling is something that should be done at the expense of knowing you can endure every lost that comes your way because losing is actually the bigger part of the habit, I am led to understand that the ratio of gamblers who are at profits than lose is very small as the major population of gamblers are at lost more than winning.
I'm not sure if it is all about his big losses, for some reason he could use it as an excuse for the main reason.
In fact, he is a rich person and I know he could afford to lose that huge amount but there is something behind that story and we don't know yet. Because I don't he was stupid to commit such suicide just for that amount knowing that he could still make money as he had the capacity to do it.

Well, whatever the main reason for such a scenario, still it was a big mistake. He was too emotional and might have a mental problem.
493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Andre August - December 15th in Florida on: December 16, 2023, 11:46:45 AM

Maybe it's time for a rematch against Fury was Paul that time when he lose via SD was a slight underdog, maybe if he could beat Fury in a rematch, we can tell that he really has improve a lot as a boxer.

I guess Fury would love for a rematch as he knows how much money the fight will bring to them. However, can Jake Paul agree with that considering he's been winning recently with easy fights. After the Tommy Fury Split decision loss, he had 2 straight wins (including the recent fight), first was UD and 2nd was KO, fans should be hyped with how Jake Paul perform, so it'll gain more attention if Paul would choose a fighter that has a good boxing skills like Fury if the latter can't be possible to be his opponent.
494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do Owners of betting companies bet? on: December 16, 2023, 05:30:22 AM
Why wrong? Isn't it a good thing actually? Because, it prevents them to become addicted and lose everything they have, ( if not some, or most of their profits ). But, I think all casino owners do have an experience in playing gambling. It is an advantage and this is what they like or, this is where their passion is, resulting for them to came up with such business.

If in case their urge kicks in, it's best if they can only play within their own platform. This is the same as playing for fun because it was still their own money after all, is the one that they will be getting, in case they are winning. And if they lose, there is no harm, because the money will still go on their own wallet.
I can see your point, however when it comes to lotteries and other similar gambling games it is stated very clearly that anyone which is part of that business or their family cannot participate on it, and if they do they will not be paid the prize they could have received.

This is done as a way to avoid those employees to manipulate the results on their favor, and since the owner of a casino is in a position similar to that, it should be better for them to not do this, as a way to avoid the temptation of manipulating the results on their favor as well.
Well, the rules have been written already just people think that there is no manipulation of winnings. But who knows, in fact, the jackpot winner can't be revealed in front until he/she shown up and shows the winning ticket, and no one will identify the identity of the winner if he/she is relative to any members or workers of the casino. With the huge number of gamblers, I don't someone has been tasked to do that, it is just a waste of time. Of course, no one will be able to accept that they are relatives, even if you have the same family name.
495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think will be the next hype in crypto? on: December 15, 2023, 09:52:36 PM
From memecoins to nft's etc what do you think will be the next hype of 2024 or 2025? I personally think of real utility and true privacy. I think CBDC's and constant blockchain tracking will scare a lot of people and they will want true privacy something that monero can bring. Privacy by default is what will be highly desired and needed in the coming future as it will be highly beneficial. Nobody wants to be tracked 24/7 of everything they do.

What do you think?
I'm clueless, honestly but I was thinking that AI technology will have that hype.
And talking about privacy projects, the government won't let that happen. In the years coming will be no more such privacy, it is possible that every platform will ask for KYC.

By 2024 and in the years coming, we can expect a lot of change in the market. Might meme coins hype show up again or other new projects?

I'm not looking for a gem or waiting for possible hypes, I just invest in projects that have a sustainable market design (long-term), not these hypes projects that have no use case.
496  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does technical analysis work in crypto trading? on: December 15, 2023, 04:04:33 PM
Don't get distracted by what people are saying OP. Technical Analysis is very useful in trading, don't give a doubt about that. Every trader has their way of trading and market discoveries. The reason why Technical analysis exists is because the majority have seen how important trading is and how it affects our decision-making. If you have heard OP that people are also interested in other things, then let it be. The important in trading is that we are comfortable with what we are doing and we believe that we can perform so well. It makes no sense to have a lot of trading strategies if we never understand them and never see good results.
497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 15, 2023, 11:29:58 AM
Finally the NBA made the right decision for Draymond Green.

Draymond Green’s suspension is good for everyone

Quote
It was fairly shocking on Wednesday night, when the NBA announced an indefinite suspension for Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green. I had anticipated a fine and probably a one-game suspension after Green struck Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkić in the face on Tuesday, resulting in a Flagrant 2 foul and an ejection in a game the Dubs would lose by three points.

He's on indefinite suspension and it's not certain when he'll come back, but most likely it will a long period of time.
Now, the Warriors will defenitely struggle on their defense without him as they were playing a small ball when Draymond is a significant player for their success, without him, their playoffs hope might be done this season.

That was long due I guess. Maybe  the NBA are just waiting for a very obvious reason to suspend him. Green has been so aggressive, I don't know if he was frustrated with what is happening to his team because they are used to be a top team but this season, we've seen their inconsistency. Actually, the Warriors are playing well with Green because his energy makes the team to play better but due to his stupid move, now the Warriors will be undermanned and that would mean their season is at risk now, at risk of not getting into the playoffs.

I thought they would improve this season when they signed up CP3, but it seems like they'll be worse compared to the last season.
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Craze for Meme coins never ends? on: December 15, 2023, 07:39:28 AM
Someone made 100x returns with a coin called Dogwifhat (WIF) and he bought it just because the logo was cute but in a month the investment turned into 100K due to the Solona DeFi market.

This isn't the first time it has happened with random meme coin but a lot of coins that achieved huge returns went to the grave in no time as well so invest in the right coins if you are looking for long-term investment or just take a gamble and it may pays you off once in a while.

To read about 1000 to 100K journey: Crypto Trader Turns $1K Into $100K on Solana’s Newest Memecoin, Dogwifhat
Is that person selling his coin already? Because if not, he can never expect such a trend to come back, not anymore. Hype project just rises in no specific time but they drop forever. If we miss selling them during its peak, we can no longer expect to rally back anymore, it was a normal condition on altcoins.

Meme coin price manipulation remains but the question is if people are still buying them. Or they ignored it because of the risk and huge possible losses. Now, we can see the investors are getting smarter, they've learned already, and no matter how these meme coin creators do, that won't change their market insights, still they are shitcoins.
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trend or long term projects? on: December 14, 2023, 10:08:31 PM

What is your suggestions about profit from altcoins. Should we rely on only buying long term projects or we should invest according to trend despite of looking that trends coin will have no value in future?
Smart investors know what is best for them. Of course, why have to keep these low-value coins in our hands if we see that there is no chance of making a profit, we should surely ignore it. If these old and popular coins are the best option, why not rely on them? Investing is not all about money but also, it is about choosing the right coins. Many people are looking for a gem thinking that this will give them more profit but sadly, after many years of holding have nothing changed in its price. It is a waste of time and money...
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Risk only what you can afford to lose on: December 14, 2023, 02:12:25 PM
Absolutely true. No matter how one tries to be perfect, there’s still always flaws. And this applies everywhere. Even the best wallet with the most expensive price can even have an error that isn’t related to hackers and you lose all your money. I generallly think that for wallet, it is based on how you manage yours. If you create a normal wallet address in trust wallet for example, you’re safe unless you do some connection to your wallet that compromises your funds or carelessly gave the private keys/ phrase away somewhere, it’s not like it is magically prone to getting hacked.
Perhaps, we're just human and often commit mistakes even if we are too careful. There is no need to be perfect here but what is the most important is that we did the right thing.

Crypto investment is quite risky and we know that already which is why we don't need to rush but rather think twice before investing because there is no turning back. That is why we have to assess ourselves if we can take the risk as well and of course, the willingness we have in this way, we can't blame anyone and never feel regrets when we lose our money.
