481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: September 28, 2020, 12:12:48 PM
But to be fair with Miami, they are underrated and that's make them very dangerous.
I think the main problem for the Miami Heat in the final is the lack of experience among players. Also, the Heat was defeated twice by the Lakers within this season.

Experience on what? Experience in playing playoff games? Or experience in terms of having veterans and role players in the team? Either way the Miami Heat doesn't need those two just to beat 2 of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. By paper both Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks are a better team and are a favored team to win the Eastern Conference they are the favorites and Miami is just in the 3rd place but to shock all of us they beat them both and reach the finals. Even if Miami doesn't have a lot of experience in the playoffs I am seeing that they'll have a good series against the Lakers.
482  Economy / Economics / Re: Utilizing Blockchain Technology for patent information on: September 28, 2020, 10:12:04 AM
Patents are distributed across countries by nature. There is no single registry for patents, but many dispersed around the world. Hence, the idea of a distributed network provides a smart solution to patent offices. But the real benefit of blockchain is the presence of smart contracts. Where dispute addressable and patent approval can be recorded on blockchain and visible and verifiable to all.

Why haven't we started already?

What are you talking about here? Patents are no way distributed by country or by it's nature, patents aren't even distributed at all as it will always depend on what company/creator is trying to obtain that patent and where is he living is totally irrelevant. Yeah sure we are seeing a lot of patent claims around China and US but it doesn't mean they are the only ones who can create patents for the blockchain as the exclusivity of their invention is available for anyone to be claims. And I guess that answers your last question on why these inventions even though they have been successfully claimed by their patent owners haven't started yet, since they are mostly busy on obtaining more patents rather than starting on the projects itself.
483  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predict the bitcoin price range as we enter the New Year on: September 27, 2020, 09:06:11 PM
I won't be surprised if we see a extended period of consolidation happening especially with the lack of volume we are seeing in the market. It can either be two ways depending on how we see the chart and it is either Bitcoin continues to go up and down near this level of Bitcoin will finally correct since it has failed a lot of times to go up above 12,000$ meaning it might reach to appoint where Bitcoin will finally correct. But still there is still no accurate answer here especially when we still have about 3 months left for 2020.
484  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-09-12]Researcher kept a Bitcoin bug secret for 2 years to prevent attacks on: September 27, 2020, 08:07:12 PM
This is very old news and the bug was fixed already. What is the writer of the article doing by putting this back on the surface again? I am skeptical, however, I do speculate that there are people behind this.

According to the article this bug only re-emerge because the vulnerability that the had found on Bitcoin was also seen on another cryptocurrency named Decred which I think is the reason why they also have revealed that they saw it on Bitcoin earlier because Decred was based on an older version of the Bitcoin code. Other cryptocurrencies that are also based on Bitcoin's code are also vulnerable and maybe that is why they came out of it to make the developers be able to handle the issue for their own respective projects.
485  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hacker blackmailing me and ask for money. Did you also get this email? on: September 27, 2020, 07:07:08 PM
You have checked an old spam email yet nothing has happened even after the days the email has been sent which only means the threat isn't real and the scammer either has been lucky guessing your password or has posted a common password a lot of people are using. These typea of blackmail are not real and they are just only using common facts that exists on a lot of people that's why some of them are thinking it os true. Don't be worried about this email as the threat isn't real and they are just guessing it. I won't even both reading those kinds of email that have been sent into spam.
486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The meme that started it all - "Magic internet money Join Us!" on: September 27, 2020, 06:34:53 PM
The original version of the picture is better compared to the remake simply because of its history and how Bitcoin has started. Sure the looks of the remake inspired by the original Bitcoin Wizard is better but this won't really be created without the original. TBH I'm not an early adopter and the only time I have seen the Bitcoin Wizard is from this post for the Bitcointalk anniversary coin proposal and during that time I imagined that people thought Bitcoin was a joke but the good thing is we just proved them wrong.
487  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: MANO A MANO crypto game tournaments on: September 27, 2020, 05:20:42 PM
The closest game I know that has a pool base prize are crypto lottery games where players by tickets and they have an equivalent amount set in the pool, the most tickets you have the better chances you will have for winning but this game has multiple winners not only one. Maybe a 1 winner takes all kind of game are more suited to sport tournaments where players can take 1 side each and this will be good to any type of sport but the thing is I think you need to have a special type of license to be legally allowed to receive bets on sporting games particularly on the league they are playing on.
488  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Gibraltar Enables Itself to Comply with FATF guidelines on: September 26, 2020, 11:51:09 PM
Similar to what happened to Malta several months back

Malta doing all it can to avoid FATF grey-listing, Edward Scicluna says

I see a pattern now where crypto-friendly countries where crypto companies reside the most are being pressured by the FATF to do some additional legislation to avoid illicit activities from happening in their country which is really questionable to begin with as they should not target countries where there is no history of helping do illicit activities but instead focus on where the money is flowing. The pattern is pretty obvious by targeting these 2 small nations that are known to accept the crypto industry and is now in strict surveillance of the FATF.
489  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Your strategy in taking profit on: September 26, 2020, 10:44:09 PM
5. If the cycle in the space is really 4-5 years, what is the plan to cater for the long period of bear market?

You can't put a period on a market cycle even if you see some kind of pattern emerging based on their historical charts since you may never really know the exact future movement of the market will be in the future. You won't even know when exactly Bitcoin would rise up again nor will it go down from here. That's why you can't look at it in a long term period view since it will be inaccurate, if you are a hodler I would advice you to just look at times where your crypto is near its bottom or has bottomed out and that is when you will add more in your portfolio.
490  Other / Meta / Re: Should we post for members or guests? on: September 23, 2020, 02:03:38 PM
I won't go that way allowing anonymous people to post in the forum will be prone to a lot of spam/plagiarism/trolling and might be use in a bad way by people who are already in the forum, if you are looking for ways to attract readers/contributors in your thread I don't think this is a good option to do so. Also I don't like the idea of promoting the forum to increase the number of members here in BCT since we can't really control what kind of people are we getting in so we might have a new batch of people who will just be seeing the forum as some kind of money making site for them. TBH I don't know how to solve your problem but I think increasing the number of members here or people posting anonymously is a solution here.
491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: September 23, 2020, 01:10:30 PM
Celtics vs Heat game 4. Choose your pick,,.. .

can the Celtics even the series here? What do you think about Butler, can he lead his team for a win and make the series 3-1 in favor of them?
It's gonna be a great game to watch again, the last 3 games was all an exciting game to watch, I have put my bet on the Celtics -3 to win in game 4, what's yours? and why?

I'm with you but no handicap.  seeking for Boston to tie this series. Hayward's presence adds up for the Boston.

They just need to play like how they did it the last game, with organized offense and good defense the whole cast
can win it again. Though still anyone's game knowing how Miami played when they get the confidence.

I'm still big for Miam Heat, seeing how they won the series against the Bucks made me convince that they are the ones to beat in the Eastern Conference. They started out slow in the season with a large deal of it being Butler not being part of some games early but now where Heat is complete with their rookies giving notable contributions I think they can bounce back in another win for tomorrow's game.
492  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy recovery Plan Global on: September 23, 2020, 12:28:56 PM
You can't just force the stock market to rise up just because somebody planned to do so. The stock market consist of independent stocks from companies and these companies don't perform the same way as each other. Their stock prices depend on the performance of each company they are in. Yes there are massive FOMOs happening in the stock market as well but it doesn't mean that there will be enough capital to push all of them at once. And as usual Polo7 is here creating bold claims without any substantial evidence about his claims.
493  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we biased? on: September 23, 2020, 11:39:20 AM
We may have that line of thinking now that Bitcoin is some type of safe-haven asset where it can stand into a line of crisis since it had shown itself to quickly recover fast during the start of the outbreak in March but I'm not one of those people thinking that way. The economical crisis haven't even started yet during that time and we aren't experiencing the full extent of damages the pandemic has brought to us yet so saying that Bitcoin is some kind of hedge to a crisis is simply being optimistic. Even if I am a investor of Bitcoin I always try to remain neutral in how I think because it is my capital on the line when I will hold  a personal bias on what I am holding.
494  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-09-10] Community-Funded Bitcoin Awareness Campaign Unveiled in Hong Kong on: September 23, 2020, 11:11:38 AM
It is really elating to hear that there is such a thing as Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong which has been in existence since the early years of Bitcoin, and they are doing things like these. While Bitcoin itself doesn't have a marketing team, people like the ones who made up this amazing association are doing things and spending money to selflessly promote Bitcoin and Bitcoin alone; no exchange, no wallet, no site, no whatsoever attached to the ads.

They are very courageous people, too, putting up the ads in the most strategic of locations such as "outside of the Bank of China HK, HSBC and Standard Chartered HK headquarters." My worries, though, do these people stay anonymous in buying these ads space?

I can only hope they continue to have funds to support this great initiative and be able to stretch the duration beyond October 8.

I don't think you can do this anonymously as ad spaces require some permit not unless this ads are labelled vandalism without any proper authorization of putting up these ads I don't see them posting these ads anonymously. Also the way where they promote Bitcoin on their ads is "Be Your Own Bank" which focus more on your own freedom with your money, the pics sent by OP didn't show any kind of promotion of Bitcoin when it comes to their privacy features plus the article already named the Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong as the ones responsible for posting these ads so I don't think they are planning to hide it.
495  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC Shuts Down Unikrn For Its $31M 2017 ICO on: September 23, 2020, 10:24:17 AM
I think Telegram's GRAM coin already set precedent when it comes to how strict the SEC is on when it comes to defining what type of cryptocurrency are you offering. Telegram actually raised 1.7 billion USD with their pre-sale. They failed to make a registration for their selling and they failed to justify their token being a utility not a security.

Right, it already had a precedent, so there's nothing to question about their decision to shutdown another ICO that didn't register it correctly, under the SEC rules. Some of this projects think that they can circumvent the law, although it took time for SEC to file the case and the eventual shutdown, still Unikrn has to settle with a $6.1 million penalty.

I'm guessing that Unikrn also faced the same issue with the SEC when it comes to classifying their cryptocurrency as well. For project teams planning to launch an ICO sale in the US I think the best approach for their crypto is to consult lawyers as well the SEC when it comes to classifying their token, because things can be messy when you just plan to offer out your project instantly.

Just to be fair with Unikrn, their project was launch in 2017, wherein I would say their is a lax on SEC's part that's why they were able to launch it without any issues. But now it's different, probably 'crypto' lawyers are there every step to help them not have this kind of issues in the future.

I don't know the timing of when SEC has filed a case against Unikrn but it would really be irrelevant on this matter. What I mean about that is even if the US SEC has spotted their faults 2 or 3 years after the said sale they still violated something even if SEC was able to catch up late. Them being under the radar for 2 or 3 years doesn't necessarily mean that they have a free pass on not being able to register their security token. I know the punishment is hard that they won't be able to push through with their project and we are hoping for a much lighter sentence but I don't think we will be getting that soon so the most likely solution here is to just like I said have consultations first before moving forward with your project.
496  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Information] Ancient Cryptography on: September 22, 2020, 11:28:36 PM
Cryptography wasn't the only thing people use to hide message in ancient times, I also recall that during these time as well steganography was also used. Steganography is simply hiding an information by putting it on other content like books, songs, or art basically hiding these messages in plain sight that only the other person who was meant to read it will be the one to understand it.  Both Steganography and Cryptography I think during that time was used since privacy and safety was really important during that time that's why they have created various techniques on hiding information.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Patents on: September 22, 2020, 10:39:41 PM
But still, just how many patents will actually be useful and not some marketing gimmick?

For this one we can't be for sure and it will always depend. Patents are actually straightforward since aside from the requirement of your invention/technology of being unique and new our patent law also requires what you made to be useful for others so their invention might be useful for you but not for others but it will always depend on for who they made it for. The ongoing patent war we have just shows that it's always about who comes first and the volume of they are proposing since this will be the bulk of the money they will make in the future, it's really not up for us to the community to decide but the Patent agency judging if what they created is patentable or not.
498  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: If only we had a crypto version of Ebay that could save us the hindrance of fee on: September 22, 2020, 10:03:23 PM
We have one already Overstock.com is something where you have an option to become a retailer, you can freely post your items there you want to sell but it is mostly similar to Amazon rather than Ebay. If you want a P2P marketplace I would recommend you trying OpenBazaar.org the last time I check is they have zero fees involve since the transaction happens between the 2 parties they are basically promoting is as some kind of free e-commerce website. Keep in mind that I don't have experience on both websites but I mostly read these websites of being a crypto focus e-commerce website in the forum.

500  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Coin Shilling Question on: September 22, 2020, 08:48:41 PM
So is coin Shilling have really real influence over the coin price?
If so then If the cryptocurrency news talk about Some Coming project this will make price Go high in Short time of period?

How much the Shilling usually makes coin Go Up?
100% in 24 hours is that true?

Yes, of course. Even scam projects need shill to make the project more popular with good sides. Communities and crowds have always been the power in the financial markets, so we need to take advantage of it to make money in the short term. If you know the big financial groups, they always give good news about the project that they have invested, just a few thousand people know the news, they can push the coin price very high. So this is also a great way to make money in the crypto market.

You might have mix up some things because shilling is never good. Shilling is something done by people who are either paid by the project or he will gain to benefit something because of it. It is very different for people praising a project on his own without any kind of lies behind it but just based on personal opinion. For people shilling we can simply put them as selfish people who they themselves only want to benefit on something.
