761  Economy / Speculation / Re: Living with parents again could fuel the next Bitcoin bull run. on: July 21, 2020, 09:43:30 PM
Is this some kind of joke to you like what you are implying in your username? Because this will only be true if people who are living with their parents do actually have some work from home jobs and is saving off money because of rent but the truth is a lot of them are out of job and a lot of them are having troubles to find cash. Just look at the news in Google and you will see no good signs that the economy is recovering but is worsening day by day because of the pandemic so I don't see why you have connected people living with parents triggering the next bull run since your assumption was really wrong.
762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The Rise of DeFi — A Temporary Threat to Major Coins? on: July 21, 2020, 08:45:24 PM
It can trigger a bear period for the top cryptos in the market if DeFi will really be a hit. If we take a look at the situation right now you will see that lending might be really big as a lot of people will be looking for some loans due to them being affected by the pandemic, people who have extra crypto lying around might see this as an option and they might offload their crypto to buy these type of cryptocurrencies but this is just one big speculation and it might not happen.
763  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS seeks info on tracing privacy coins, LN transactions for pilot program on: July 21, 2020, 02:40:24 PM
It's going to be interesting to see how their market develops. No way will any of them last on any fully legitimised platform. They'll all be driven out as a condition of being regulated.

i see an exception for ZCASH and other coins with "optional" privacy. that's why government bootlickers like coinbase and gemini still list it. you can't withdraw to shielded addresses through those platforms. this allows for the same sort of blockchain analysis as bitcoin.

Is this because of what Chainalysis said about them being able to track 99% of Zcash transactions or because simply their users are not using the optional privacy from Zcash? Either way I don't think Zcash should have some kind of exception as going with the same argument as LN transactions or for Privacy Coins what the IRS is trying to avoid is for this cryptocurrencies not to have untraceable transactions on their part. Yes Zcash users might not be utilizing the shielded pools but any new users can used it if they see Zcash becomes exempted from the list of privacy coins.
764  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: which country to establish a crypto business? on: July 21, 2020, 01:17:24 PM

I don't know how accurate this article is but this is simply has an incorrect information about China.

China
Bitcoin is essentially banned in China. All banks and other financial institutions like payment processors are prohibited from transacting or dealing in Bitcoin. Cryptocurrency exchanges are banned.16 The government has cracked down on miners.

Surprisingly Investopedia has a wrong information with regards to China that is why I think some of their information of the article are also not reliable as well. Crypto is Illegal on popular belief but the truth is cryptocurrency might even be considered as a crypto-friendly country. China is home for two of the top crypto exchange by volume namely Huobi and OkEX that operates locally in China. Aside from that China is also home for mining rig manufacturers such as Bitmain not to mention China also has a lot of mining pools contributing the total mining power for Bitcoin. For the OP I suggest that if you are targeting a country the best thing you can do is to do your own research as well as asking the locals for their knowledge about the situation.

@Harlot China has changed their stance on bitcoins multiple times in the past, and hence the author of this article may not have updated it with the latest information, and therefore there’s mismatch between the current information and this article's contents. @ahmedsamir I would recommend you to start your crypto business in Japan, if you’re comfortable with the prevailing crypto laws out there.

I don't think that they did changed their opinion to Bitcoin or crypto in general multiple times but for this past few years we are being fed by this crypto news websites with either misleading or wrong information and maybe that's why Investopedia have provided a wrong information for their article. That's why I'm recommending him to ask locals in that are which any business should definitely do if they want to set up shop in that country. Hiring local employees and legal assistance in that country could easily solve OP's problem.
765  Economy / Economics / Re: Business / private sector is dead on: July 21, 2020, 12:44:53 PM
I don't think this is true and to be honest businesses that have online products are the ones who are able to survive and keep most of their employees under their payroll. Companies or businesses where they have to sell their products on a physical location is something that are affected like supermarkets, department stores or or laundry shops as these businesses are affected with lack of people going to them. This is where the advantage for companies who either adapted digitally or naturally exists in a digital way as most of the people are now more active buying their stuff online and even do their work online. Companies who are affected on the other hand still has a chance to adapt for them to save their businesses.
766  Other / Meta / Re: This member has weird stats. on: July 21, 2020, 12:06:46 PM
Even if he deleted a bunch of his posts I don't thin his activity is also justified in that cast. I mean this account was registered in 2015 and he should probably be a Legendary rank by default right now. There is evidence that a bunch of his posts got deleted but I don't think his activity justifies it not unless he went inactive for years before posting here in the forum again.
How does a 2015 account become a Legendary rank by default without the required activity?

It was clear to me that forum rank is influenced by activity and merit. Activity depends on the number of posts done every 14 days. His rank became legendary because of his old posts. If he deleted them, it's as if he never made those posts in the first place. Therefore, his rank coming back to Member is justified. Correct me if I am wrong.

There were no merit system prior to 2015, merit system was relatively new and was created around 2018. All you need to do back then was post in order for your activity to go up making it easy for account farmers to level up basically you just need less than 3 years worth of activity to be a legendary. Although this is something I missed since I just know that deleting posts will also decrease the activity of that member I thought activity was something permanent once the player reach it.

He probably deleted a load of his posts.

768  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Visa&Mastecard paradigm shifts. on: July 20, 2020, 10:10:58 PM
Aren't crypto debit cards old news already? I mean I've seen Coinbase and BitPay have one for years now and both of them are VISA. I think it was made possible because they aren't dealing directly with cryptocurrencies but crypto converted to FIAT so technically these credit card providers are still dealing with fiat currencies rather than crypto as the cryptocurrencies are dealt and exchange by the wallet providers. Also these companies won't really close their doors in crypto as they know this is another market for them to make more money.
769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin for Contract Killing" on: July 20, 2020, 09:15:17 PM
There's a lot of tv series mentioning and involving cryptocurrencies especially Bitcoin in one of their story plots such as the Black List and Homeland but the good thing is they don't specifically put any pressure on cryptocurrencies being the bad thing here but the criminals themselves doing the illegal activity I don't know if its because they are against the popular belief of crypto being the money in the dark web or they just want to focus the plot more but the good thing is they avoid creating Bitcoin/Crypto being the bad thing here. We should always remember that cryptocurrencies are just money or a mode of payment, these assets are not actually doing the crime here but the criminals themselves its just that the features and the digital existence of crypto make them more attractive for criminals to use.
770  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Accept Bitcoin Donations on Wordpress with free Crypto Donation WordPress Plugin on: July 20, 2020, 08:04:13 PM
Or you can just put the logo in the middle of the QR code and people can figure it out.
(Feel free to send to test  Grin Grin Grin )
I made these without putting in the address in the text but you could do that too.
Or Above the code or Below it

If they can't do this in their website I think one of the best alternative would be creating a dedicated donation page per QR code foe Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Litecoin where if their visitors click they will be redirected to their respective donation page. Its wordpress so a lot of these types of services exists via their plugins where they take advantage of people who wants the easy way to implement the function but for people who have websites I would extremely recommend people to just do the alternatives mentioned by other members here so plugins like this would feed off less and less people.
771  Economy / Speculation / Re: USDT/BTC pairs total volume is only about 7% of total Bitcoin volume...... on: July 20, 2020, 03:59:04 PM
Following your numbers 7% of a 17$ billion traded volume is 1.19 billion dollars this amount affected because of tether would be really relevant in the market and might trigger FUD as a volume of more than a billion affected by the market can easily influence everything. Just imagine 500 million dollars worth of Bitcoin stolen in a crypto exchange this event can greatly affect the price even if it's not worth a billion due to the FUD it will also produce. Tether collapsing will have a greater effect compared to this one though as a lot of exchanges or majority of them will be affected is such thing happens.
772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: losing $90 in Medicalchain Coin on: July 20, 2020, 03:23:50 PM
Looking at the activity of their website it seems like they aren't really doing that much in terms of bringing in new developments for their cryptocurrency so I would say no there is no chance that their cryptocurrency will go up. That kind of price decrease for altcoins is something unrecoverable and it is a sign that investors lost their hope for the crypto they invested. So follow what others have already said and don't just by cryptocurrencies without even doing your research about it since your money will be the one suffering from your decision.

Anyhow, I'll just leave a link that contains countries where bitcoin is legal.

774  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS seeks info on tracing privacy coins, LN transactions for pilot program on: July 19, 2020, 10:17:38 PM
The government does not care about anyone's privacy and they have made laws to monitor everyone even without any court order in the name of national security, the idea about having your privacy is a long distant dream and the cryptocurrency market had our privacy and now all the exchanges mandate compulsory verification and there will be a time when the coins you pass through mixers will be confiscated by the exchanges in the name of upholding the law.

In short nothing is surprising and expect more things to come in the future as governments around the world will try their best to break your privacy.

It's not that they do not care about the privacy of their citizens but transactiona lile these that holds monetary value shouldn't supposed to be private due to AML and Tax evasion laws. If the government left these privacy coins and 2nd layer crypto transactions uncheck then they won't be doing their jobs on checking if there is anything illegal going on, it will be a criminal's paradise to see that these networks are not monitored by the authorities.
775  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic situation declining and famous celebs not paying workers on: July 19, 2020, 09:34:15 PM
What if these people , these small workers start their own brands and directly receive payments in Bitcoins ?  What matters is skills , the price will be cheaper for the person buying it and these people will even make more.

People buy famous brands for two reasons - they trust in brand's quality, because they can't verify the quality on their own, or they buy a brand because it's a status symbol on its own. There are already countless smaller brands and no-named manufacturers, but I'm pretty sure that they pay even less than these big brands, which is why poor people will keep sticking to their jobs there.

Bitcoin solves absolutely nothing here, since there's no monetary problem here, and if a company tried to only accept Bitcoin, they would sink in their first month - that's how low the adoption is right now.

Aside from that this is really not the best time to create their own business, resources are high in value and at the same time they would worry about the logistics and marketing basically everything on what they need to do in order to make a sale. I know you think that they will already have the support in the community as people will be helping them by supporting their product but without really a sponsor or a company willing to help them succeed in their new business I doubt that they'll be reaching the goal they will be expecting.
776  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members on: July 19, 2020, 07:48:44 PM
I like the idea, but I think you should keep the same set of questions for everybody. The only one that seems to be personalised is question 4. The rest could be answered by everyone. If people know what questions are in advance you will probably get more interest as people know what to expect and whether they'd be OK answering them. It will also be interesting to see everybody's answers to the same questions. Maybe people could propose another one or two questions that can be asked.

Having the same set of questions is good and I agree with you that the participants in the interview should answer personalized questions directed to them since not all members here are posting in the same board or doing the same thing on what they are doing in the forum. This allows you to see their perspective on their role in the forum. Having personalized questions for DT members, or Merit Sources, and people active in their local board should also be considered as they definitely have other questions to answer set on their perspective.
777  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Twitter Accounts Hacked & Used to Scam People on: July 19, 2020, 06:05:29 PM
There's no such thing as a perfect platform and I want you to know that even those huge platforms also make mistakes.

I really don't understand is that, the security is the most important thing in a social media platform and still they don't value it very much.

But I know that in this circumstances, they learned a lot from this because this scams will costs a lot of money. Even those high profiles can also be scammed, criminals are really wise in using other people's identity to easily believe on what they are offering in a certain tweets. They don't need to shutdown their platform because their platform can make us updated on what is happening in our surroundings. They should just fix their problems immediately before this scammers can victimized more people.

Bro hacks happen everytime even the most unimaginable systems can be hacked even if they are deemed secured during that time. Yeah for sure they can say that their system is impenetrable during that time but the thing is hackers will always find a way on how they can hack it by finding new methods on penetrating it. They can always counter and counter everything as the system is already there and the only thing they can do. So I don't think Twitter is really not valuing their security but it just happened that they were targeted by a coordinated attack and that's how tough it is on handling these types of services.
778  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Twitter Accounts Hacked & Used to Scam People on: July 18, 2020, 10:08:42 PM
Isnt this over yet? Why the hell Twitter wont just simply shut down the site temporarily and fixed all things that should be needed to be fixed because if this account hack do continue then it will
just give out negative impressions towards the platform or do simply means that these events are just tainting out Twitters shitty security.

People are aware on Twitter hack past few days and now they do have something new which directly give out some btc address not on that site url which had been flagged down already.

Twitter should fixed this asap.

They aren't just a social media website but they are also a business too, they can't just suddenly shutdown their website without breaking any kind of contract with their advertisers so I wouldn't expect a shutdown would be possible. Plus hacks happen  a lot and I barely see sites ahutting down their operations because of it. I know a lot of people got scammed by these hacks because they were fooled easily by accounts of these verified users but the way I see it these shouldn't take long before Twitter actually finds the root cause of it.
779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Abra CEO and founder Bill Barhydt now sees Bitcoin as a store of value. on: July 18, 2020, 08:44:28 PM
He's a CEO of a wallet/exchange app for cryptocurrencies what would you expect him to say about his own industry? They obviously won't talk about bad things about their own products cause it will be bad for their businesses. So I would really consider these types of of statements coming from business owners and CEOs as something without any weight because you won't really expect their words to have no kind of bias in them as it will always have.
780  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin Looking Bullish now? on: July 17, 2020, 09:25:32 PM
The price of Bitcoin is going up but the volume is decreasing? That's not a bullish sign for Bitcoin but rather a clear sign of a weak breakout attempt. It's one of the most important technical indicators to see if the price rally we are seeing now is due to demamd or price manipulation which in this case is just showing the latter. Price going up like this wothout volume backing it up can also mean that only few are really interested to make a push for a breakout. Of course if we just look at the candles and trendlines it may look like Bitcoin is poised for another rally but sadly volume is not backing it up.
