541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 16, 2016, 09:56:08 PM
Coins101 is one of the very best in crypto at what he does.  His ideas are right up there with some of the biggest names in the industry.

As they say around these parts, *Cough*  Tongue
I was going to say don't let it go to your head...but you've called a lot of things accurately.. who knows, maybe spread will be one of them.
542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 16, 2016, 08:23:18 PM
There is a serious lack of productive discussion and way too much blind cheerleading from people who should (and probably do) know better on this thread.

Georgem has made it clear that he doesn't give a shit about working as part of a community. He wants everybody to support him blindly and will give virtually nothing in return.  If that bothers you, its not going to change. Believe me, quite a few people have tried to provide support where it is needed and it isn't welcome.

I'm actually certain he will deliver in time but the question is has anybody ever delivered something good by isolating himself and refusing to work as a team? Georgem by his own admission is self teaching and learning as he goes.  There is nothing wrong with that.  I just feel that over a year is too long to be asking for blind support with nothing in return and no willingness to tap into the wealth of experience in the Spreadcoin community.

Coins101 is one of the very best in crypto at what he does.  His ideas are right up there with some of the biggest names in the industry.  What worries me is that there seems to be a big gap between what Coins101 wants to do and what Georgem is doing. Talk of the whitepaper is great, but who is to say that it will be delivered here?

I'm going to put myself at risk of ridicule by making a prediction.  By the time Georgem has mastered Spreadcoin and started work on Coins101's whitepaper, other projects will have moved on to the next generation of blockchain technology rendering Spreadcoin dead in the water.  Never lose sight of the fact that blockchain, as we know it, is like the internet in the mid 90s. World changing but clunky, cumbersome and ultimately not fulfilling its potential. Real innovation is happening out there.

I look forward to finding out whether the above paragraph will be quoted in the future to ridicule me or congratulate me on my prediction.

For context to the post, Stone left due to disagreements with Georgem's practices as a dev (issues with communication). He is now working on another project called Crowncoin which from the brief bits I've read is hoping to solve Bitcoin's blocksize issue. This is what he alludes to when saying 'next generation of blockchain technology'. I'm assuming he is fairly confident in the developments in that project, and that they will beat Spreadcoin to solving Bitcoin's problem with blocksize / transaction limit. Not through incentivizing nodes mind you, but by just reducing the size of the blockchain? I can only really speculate as to what they are working on because I don't know exactly what it is.

I still think that Georgem is taking steps in the right direction with his community engagement. I'm not sure if you have seen what he posted in Spreadcointalk but here it is from (http://spreadcointalk.org/index.php?topic=762.msg4101#msg4101):

hm, BTC is down for me at the moment.
Reminds me why it's good to have your own forum.  Cool

So, I wanted to say something about the "patronage" funding I brought up earlier.
It should be the best way to incentivize a regular steady financial support for the developers of spreadcoin (currently only me), without the need to do the scammy things many other devs/communities have been doing in the altcoin sphere. (ICO, instamine, taxing miners, and other crap etc...)

here is an idea how "patronage" could look like:

1) 20$ (or equivalent in crypto) and you will receive regular closed source preview versions to test on your computer. (I deploy for win, mac and linux simultaneously)
I want to keep this cheap so that many people will be capable to post feedback/screenshots/videos about their testing.
First goal will be to release a new test-version every week.

2) 100$. All of the above and: I will permantly put your Name/Pseudonym in the "About" section (and READMEs, etc) of the wallet as supporter. Highest donators listed first.

3) 200$. All of the above and: I will favor your input regarding wallet-features more (within reason), but we will have to see how we can sync your desires with everybody else's. No extravaganza.

3) 500$. All of the above and: It doesn't matter if your wishes are extravangant anymore (within reason), I will basically maintain a "fork" of the wallet to satisfy your own special "kink".  Cool

4) 1000$. All of the above and: You will receive the preview-versions with sourcecode. I maintain full ownership of the code, until the day we release a first public beta version. From then on the license will be fully free and open source like bitcoin. (MIT license)

5) XXX$ I will invent new levels as we progress.

(All donations will be cummulative, meaning I will keep track about all the donations you make and sum them up. Those donations are not monthly or anything. Just you donating more and more will add to your pile and release new benefits. )

BTW, what I describe here is for the spreadwallet only.
As the other project (the spreadminer) progresses I will start a similar separate "patronage" scheme for it too. (More about it later this month)

This way people will be able to donate towards whatever project they find more "important" / "pressing" at the moment.

What do you say, guys?

If you ever wanted to create the wallet you always dreamed about.... here's the opportunity to do so!

I have highlighted in bold what I think can be a framework for the community to have more of a voice. I was discussing the issue of communication and transparency a few posts back - maybe you saw. Essentially, I think the Patreon can be used by the community to negotiate with Georgem over communication. You are right that he might not 'naturally' be inclined to post about more 'feelings' issues. But if the community finds a problem with some aspect of development (whether that be communication, transparency, or that Georgem doesn't post enough photos of hamsters) to be important enough, then they can donate under the condition that the issue will be addressed. I think it could work.

I really had no ulterior motive with my post. It is nothing to do with what I'm doing now.

I was triggered into posting by the fact the person I sold my  major share to has lost patience and is now looking to sell himself for the same reasons.

In terms of block chain development I was not referring to the project I am now involved with. Crown has not delivered yet either. To compare would be misguided.
543  Other / Meta / Re: Dear signature spammers... (or account farmers.) -- Read the STATS inside. on: December 16, 2016, 11:55:18 AM
I find it quite distasteful that the OP has no idea how much $200 per month is to some people.

I could list all of the stats about how many BILLIONS of people in the world live on less than this and the fact that one BILLION people live on less than $1 per day but instead I'll point out that there are many hundreds of thousands of people in the developed world who have jobs but do not have anywhere near as much as $200 per month disposable income. I don't know about you but I'd do all it takes to have a little bit of extra money available should I need to buy something for my family.

I agree that low quality posts are an issue here but if you think that doing something part time to earn an extra $200 a month isn't worth it, you need a reality check.

Just a quick heads up.

I posted a few days ago that we would be releasing the whitepapers in "a few days".  After our meeting yesterday we have decided to release the first whitepaper to coincide with the publishing of our new web site and to be closer to the new wallet release.  This means that they will be released in two to four weeks so that we can maximise their impact.  We want as may people as possible to read and talk about what we are doing.

A delay is quite a good thing actually as we are still waiting for peer review from one more team member.  Would be wrong to release without his input.

Sorry for setting an unrealistic timescale.

Im eager to know more about u. What secret do u hide between ur asscheeks? Suppose ur pool request get merged and u start to collect investors attention, what would u focus on once u've accomplished dumb goals outlined in ur whitepaper?

Sorry, I couldn't find a question amongst all the abuse.  Roll Eyes

I wouldn't take it personally, take a look at his post history.  Seems to be pretty angry with the world.
547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRW] CROWN (SHA256) | Masternodes (Thrones) | DGW | Mergedmining | etc on: December 16, 2016, 09:11:52 AM
most of our miners mine by proxy and don't really care what the coinbase reward is.

You think?

So I was right, you're gonna fuck your miners over again.

Miners got this coin started.

Miners built the infratructure & gave CRW a stable base.

Without miners, CRW would have died a long time ago - despite c_K's self buying/selling.

What happens?:

Miners lost 40% income.

Miners are gonna lose another 10%.

This coin is turning into a dash wannabe.

Give all the rewards to masternodes - screw the miners who are the backbone, generate income & helped build this coin.

Join up with the 100's of other POS coins & go nowhere..... Roll Eyes

Dump incoming.....

There isn't any room for yet another DASH wannabe in this market.  That would be a tremendous waste of our time and money.

Sorry to see that you are selling.  Check in now and again to see what we are delivering. All the best.

Nice to hear our name said out loud  Tongue

Thanks Perry!
549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRW] CROWN (SHA256) | Masternodes (Thrones) | DGW | Mergedmining | etc on: December 12, 2016, 01:53:02 AM
sadly your quick to accuse, instead of asking..

I did ask - it was my very first sentence:

I'm not aware of any discussion about reducing miners income again - please post a link where this happened.

but i can only imagine that your only interrested because your just selling, not holding any yourself..

Not sure why you presume this, but it's wrong & off topic. Besides, selling my CRW at the current price would be daft.

99.9% of the time, ideas are discussed before implementing them into the code for testing, not the other way round - that's the whole idea of having a forum/community.

Will you also be "testing" reducing masternode payments?

He talks a like a naysayer. U know, having a butthurt down ur ass makes anger easily noticeable through ur posting mr. chaositec. U sold a sack of wheat to buy a food for urself yesterday. How could anyone trust u after seeing ur comments?

im sorry that your confusing my post as anger, but the reality is, he asked and assumed directly in his same post, we have not even starting discussions about what we should put it at, we choose these parameter so that infernoman could continue, we had discussions about them, and decided we could always change them before releasing them after it had been discussed with the community, people are quick to jump to conclussions without just asking a general guestion. fx he could have written: So i see the commits from infernoman, and one thing cought my eye etc etc is this set in stone, or are we going to have a discussion about it before releasing the new wallet...

instead, as he has done before, is first do a negative comment about something, instead of asking the question..

Now i have not seen you here before, but i can tell you this: Crown Revolution is full of my ideas, that will propel it forward, further than people think, it will take time, yes.. will there be upset people, possible, but holders, and newcomers will actually like the end result, and i will bet on that...

I see your bet and raise you  Tongue
With the team and investors involved here
we have a high chance of long term success.

I don't quite see it like that.

Many good cryptobprojects have had good trams, good investors and ultimate failure. You could argue that only 5 to 10 crypto projects out of thousands have succeeded to any great degree.

When you look at it like that I think we have a much higher than average chance of success but we need to be realistic that the most likely outcome is failure. We need to always be mindful of this fact.

So did these "around 10 people" only discuss reducing miners income by a further 10%, or will they be testing reducing masternode payments as well?
You'll see in the whitepapers are about to release for discussion. First of five will be released in the next few days. Mentions our proposal to change rewards.

For the record, there are going to be a massive number of changes proposed like this. I look forward to your continuing positive contributions and support.

Yes, it appears that youre looking at changes that haven't been committed yet. All part of the core updates we are working on.

This new web site represents a huge step forward for the project.

The previous branding was too heavily focused on history.  The new branding recognises our past by retaining the link in a subtle way but focuses very much on our plans for the future.

Howdy guys! Decided to drop by and say hi. Smiley

First of all, I think it's fantastic you guys managed to arrange a meeting and actually meet eachother in person. A big whopping KUDOS to all of you, amazing! It doesn't only add a great amount of trustworthiness to the team, it also shows how dedicated and serious you guys are about the Crown Revolution project. Yep, puts a smile on my face! Smiley

Really curious to see how this will develop, keeping a close eye.

Hate my absence but I'm still ridiculously occupied with personal matters for at least another month. Around mid-January I'll be able to spend time on crypto again and get back to you guys, in the meantime it is what it is. Really can't wait to finally get the CRW-related project started with Mr. Calnaughtonjnr. Cheesy

Keep up the good work and sharp updates, speak soon!

EDIT:
I haven't yet, but will real soon add some BTC to the Bittrex/donation fund as well! Kiss

We look forward to and await your return!

The meeting was great, hopefully the next one you can make it along  Wink

[Add Crown to Bittrex Fund]

19EngcDCxQtSswQjonWBVdBqg1q7FK16hK

All funds raised will be used to list Crown on Bittrex.com

Looks like it's 1/2 way there with 1.5 BTC.  Is that correct?  3 BTC to list on Bittrex?

Also just curious what
1. Bittrex standards are for maintaining a coin on the exchange in terms of trading volume, software updates and dev team communications?
2. When would Crown want to approach Bittrex about listing -- seems like this would be after the planned December CRW update just knowing how the world works... but would the goal be to be listed on Bittrex in January?   Or what would a reasonable timeline/expectation be assuming that the funds will be raised in the next week or two?

Bittrex have always been pretty professional in maintaining updates in my limited experience of dealing with them.

I agree with you that Bittrex listing should be timed to be shortly after our December release.  We'll also be able to produce some promotional material based around the architecture that we will be discussing in London on Monday.

what about using social media power to attract bittrex? mostly bittrex add a coin by user's demand in bitcointalk and twitter..
make a tweet about that and community members and all supporters will retweet it.

We've got too much to focus on right now and can't afford to spend time on a social media campaign targetted at Bittrex. I've spoken to them on numerous occasions and they just seem to want to push for payment.

Apologies for the lack of updates. I have been away for work and also have a new puppy to look after. Just starting to draft an update now.

I bought some BTC from a ticket machine at a train station in Switzerland today. You can do it at all ticket machines over here. How is that for mass adoption?
