Haha I bet it would. I collect NGC/PCGS sample holders. That certainly looks like an old NGC holder but theres no mark on it, I was curious.

563  Economy / Goods / 1945 Mexico "Dos Pesos" Gold Coin on: August 15, 2013, 01:41:34 AM
Up for sale here is an original 1945 Mexico "Dos Pesos" gold coin. I originally bought it for its numismatic value (which exceeds its gold value), since its an actual lightly circulated piece. Then I found out that (even there is no official word on it), Mexico is still producing these coins with the same dies (year 1945). So, if it means anything to you, this is an actual coin from 1945.

If it doesn't, the Mexican "Dos Pesos" Gold Coin is probably the most popular fractional gold coin. For this reason, it usually carries a decent premium on top of its gold content.

I am accepting offers on this coin. Please either post them below or PM me with them. Please no lowballs.

Thanks!

564  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Amagi Metals - Best Prices of Gold & Silver for Bitcoins on: August 13, 2013, 10:50:02 PM
The Cannabis round MIGHT be re-released. But, just like the AG-47 ("Come and Take Them), if it is re-released it will have a different back than the original  release. I ordered some Freedom Girl rounds the other day and (I think-they're not available for sale anymore on the site I bought them) those also had the different back.
Its a subtle difference, but the AG-47 "re-releases", along with the Freedom Girls that were still available for sale a few days ago (I think) are distinct from the original releases. The backs of the new ones (re-releases) have the trivium design around the center of the logo. The backs of the old ones do not.
In this way, its obviously very easy to tell an original from a re-release. If the Cannabis rounds are re-released, I guarantee they'll have this new back, too. I'm sure this will have an affect on value of the rounds. For example, a Cannabis round with the old back will obviously be more sought after than a new one with the new back if it is re-released. But, as mentioned, this difference is subtle. Maybe it will go unnoticed by some ; )

566  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: not n00b, but TOTAL mining n00b...PLEASE help! on: August 11, 2013, 09:36:28 AM
If lucrative, I would like to get in on it (duh). I'm not going to build a rig or anything. I want to use a USB device only.
Most ASIC miners, including "rigs", are USB devices in the sense that you connect them via USB to a pc that controls the miner. By your post I assume you mean USB devices such as the USB Block Erupter (USB-stick sized devices).

Quote
I understand it will be slower than a "rig". But what about loading it with an ASIC chip (remember I'm a big n00b here)?
USB miners such as the Block Erupter are exactly that: an ASIC chip on a USB stick.format:

Quote
1. Is mining on ANY USB device truly lucrative?
The small devices? No.
Quote
2. Is the difficulty THAT bad?
Depends on your definition of bad, but for a smallscale miner that doesn't have hardware yet, it's bad.
Quote
3. Loaded with the best chip, how long would it take me to mine 1 bitcoin?
With the increase in difficulty, I'm not sure if these things will ever accumulate an entire Bitcoin.
Quote
4. Finally, how much would the "best of the best" USB miners go for?
Too much.

What I figured. If people are buying/building huge rigs and mining an amount less than desired, how would a USB flash-drive sized device do mining? Thanks for answering literally all my questions. You have completely eliminated the notion of me buying one of the things. For that I REALLY thank you. Tip jar?
567  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Thoughts on the compromise of Casascius coin holograms on: August 11, 2013, 09:12:12 AM
Being a numismatist, it is VERY easy to recognize a fake coin. The same would apply here. Casascius was smart enough to plan ahead-his coins (like the laser-cut holograms) have distinct features.

Also, I don't know if I'm missing something, but what about just confirming via FirstBits?
568  Bitcoin / Mining support / not n00b, but TOTAL mining n00b...PLEASE help! on: August 10, 2013, 08:55:28 AM
Hey everyone,

I've been into bitcoins for over a year but really don't have more than just a basic understanding of how mining works.

If lucrative, I would like to get in on it (duh). I'm not going to build a rig or anything. I want to use a USB device only. I understand it will be slower than a "rig". But what about loading it with an ASIC chip (remember I'm a big n00b here)? I apologize for my stupidity,  here are my questions in list format:

1. Is mining on ANY USB device truly lucrative?
2. Is the difficulty THAT bad?
3. Loaded with the best chip, how long would it take me to mine 1 bitcoin?
4. Finally, how much would the "best of the best" USB miners go for?

Thanks [hopefully] for your mercy and help.

570  Other / Off-topic / Re: Someone please read this, an emergency for me. on: August 05, 2013, 12:59:32 AM
I need medication to buy online, which is for my social anxiety. It costs $10 in which i don't have, i need this for school to calm my anxiety down. So far i have been going cold turkey because i didn't have enough money to buy it online, and i've been getting worse lately. Recently lost my part time job so i can't buy anymore bitcoins which totally sucks.

So please can anyone help me?
No, I will not give you bitcoins to buy Xanax on Silk Road.

Edit: After reading his other posts, can you just ban this guy?
571  Other / Off-topic / BitMit is a Good Idea but EXTREMELY Lame on: August 05, 2013, 12:58:32 AM
Half of the stuff in the coins/bullion section is fake-the other half is way overpriced.
572  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Brass Knuckles DIY Belt Buckles - No Peg, No Hole on: August 04, 2013, 11:50:47 PM
Hi everybody,
First of all, I am trying to make sure that I comply with forum rules. So, I am offering brass knuckles as belt buckles that you would drill and insert the peg in yourself. As-is they have no holes, no peg. So, officially they are being sold as belt buckles, not weapons.
There are a lot of options available. You can choose different colors, styles, weight (light/heavy), etc. If you are interested, please send me a PM with an idea of what kind it is you're looking for. I'll see what I can do-I guarantee you'll be satisfied. Of course, price will range with option chosen. But, you can order either 1pc or 2pc. One piece will be around $25, two pieces around $45.

Thanks!

573  Economy / Goods / [WTB] Used/Redeemed Casascius Coins (All Series, Years, Denominations!) on: August 04, 2013, 10:37:34 PM
Hey everybody,
I like to collect old Casascius coins, load them with a small balance and give them as gifts/"bitcoin awareness items" to people. I am interested in all years, series, and denominations. I'll send you a 90% Silver Half Dollar, 2 x 90% Quarters, 5 x 90% Dimes, or some variation (either way its the same amount of silver).
If you have some lying around, cash in and get some silver!
PM me. Thanks!
574  Economy / Goods / Re: What is this coin? on: August 04, 2013, 10:24:12 PM
Hard to tell exactly from the photos, but i'd say.

A) Non-mint run coin
B) Not gold. At the most it is thin gold plating over brass.
C) Probably done overseas in a cheap factory judging by the design and trim work

I agree with this
Me too. Or instead of being from overseas it looks like something they'd sell on QVC. I guarantee its brass or copper.

Although this isn't the spot or even site to identify coins.
575  Economy / Services / International? I Will Forward Your Package to You! on: August 04, 2013, 07:20:21 AM
Hey,
Recently I helped out a friend (DobZombie), forwarding some Silver Casascius Coins he got in a group buy. I can ship a normal-larger size,  yellow "bubble-envelope" 10lbs or less for about $10 anywhere in the world (of course price depends on destination and weight). For that I'd carefully package your item(s) and ship them via USPS First Class Intl w/a tracking number.
I would only ask for 45% of the shipping cost (plus the shipping cost, obviously) to do this. I will not ship anything illegal-basically nothing banned on this forum. I've been on here a while, have access to a shipping method that almost nobody else does, and have plenty of people who could vouch for me. If you could use my service, please just send me a PM.

Thanks!
576  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Premium Wood/Other Cigar Boxes: HUGE selection on: August 03, 2013, 10:21:49 AM
Hey everybody,

I have a friend who works at a "cigar lounge" and he can take home with him as many empty boxes as he wants. I have a bunch-they're a cool way to organize stuff.

The boxes come in all different sizes, brands, and either wood or something else. They're honestly such beautiful things. I recently got a black, wooden box (see pictures). It looks magnificent both outside and in. I can't believe some people don't value these things.

I'm offering ALL boxes at ($7) each.

I don't think shipping charges could outweigh selling these. So, I already have an idea of how I'll ship them-I'll think about it some more.

If you are interested, please tell me what size, material, and brand preference (if any) you want. I'll do my best to make you 100% happy.

Below are a few pictures (the two on the right are wood (obviously I guess lol).

Thanks!

577  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will my f*cking Silver be worth something? on: July 31, 2013, 02:09:40 AM

I could but it'd have to be an alloy. Silver is a soft metal. I'd make one for MPOE-PR for free. And just because I'd like to give a valuable dildo, I'll melt my silver down (I wonder if MPOE-PR knew you could do that?)and make sure it's one even kilogram. That big enough you think?

If MPOE-PR doesn't likes it i'll take it off from your hands and melt it again to get some nice jewelery and a silver rose to propose MPOE-PR.  Grin

 Roll Eyes

Edit: I just proposed her.

I hope she says yes. I wouldn't mind accept donations from all members for our marriage and i told her that jhonnywalker is going to finance our marriage.

Shoot man, I'm sorry. I would love to be able to finance it but I don't think I can afford it. I only have half a metric ton of silver : /
578  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will my f*cking Silver be worth something? on: July 31, 2013, 01:23:00 AM
How much silver you have?

You can make silver dildo's and sell them to for bitcoins or hard cash.

579  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will my f*cking Silver be worth something? on: July 30, 2013, 11:55:31 PM
I don't recall a day this year (not saying there hasn't been one that I didn't notice) where silver was over $30/oz. There is supposedly a worldwide shortage of silver...who woulda thunk it looking at market prices. I love my cool designed rounds and bars, but when will silver really rise? At least consistently past the $30 threshold? It is pretty disturbing to think that we're just about at the point where 1BTC=2 oz Silver!

You made a mistake fragmenting your wealth into illiquid, useless tokens. They will never be worth anything. Expecting silver rounds to make you rich is no different from daydreaming about how your extensive collection of "collectible" plastic dolls or vintage bricks will make you rich.

Precious metals and silver especially have massive handling costs associated with them, which makes the entire thing a novelty/consumer affair, not an investment. As a general rule of thumb, if you're "investing" in silver and your unit is not the metric ton, or if you're "investing" in gold and your unit is not the kilogram you're never going to show a net profit.

Forget about the entire thing, mark it down as yet another one of those cases where you (the naive, clueless, stupid-but-unaware) consumer got fooled by unethical salesmanship into parting with your cash for no benefit whatsoever. Try and learn from it, maybe.

Sorry to awake a sleeping giant here, but I just discovered and read through this. MPOE-PR,  to put it lightly, you are 100% wrong. You lost me with your first post. And I imagine you lost everyone when you started asking how we know our silver is real, and FOR SURE when you mentioned the apocalypse. I really can't tell if its units of measurements you think are important or you're just using them to express volume?lol. If its a matter of units of measurement, if you have a pound of silver, I'll take it. You couldn't possibly want it since its not in a metric unit. No one would-it's worthless : / If you're talking about volume...you are mostly wrong. Although no shit sherlock to the greater volume, greater profit aspect of your statement. Here is a scenario...I buy one POUND of silver in January of 2003 at $5/oz. Then, in late April of 2011 I decide to sell it at $47/oz (spot prices source: http://www.kitco.com/charts/historicalsilver.html). In 2003 I spent about $80 on my POUND of silver. In 2011 I sold that POUND for more than $685. So, off just one POUND I made $605.401. Sounds like a pretty good net profit to me!

Now, of course this is assuming that I bought silver at its spot price (although April of 2003 was not the lowest $ point of silver in the last decade). That rarely-never happens. But you call 1oz "tokens" a waste of money? I frequent several coin shops (nope, I don't pay for shipping, and yep, I know the silver I'm getting is silver)-$2 above spot is the highest premium for a generic round/bar at any of those shops. Talk about massive handling costs!

And I, the OP wasn't "fooled by unethical marketing". It must have been the historic success of precious metals as an investment that fooled me. Also, I don't have "a couple bars or rounds". I own about 200 oz of silver, and maybe five of of gold. And guess what's crazy??? I bought that gold at one price, and then when the price went up, sold some of it to the same place I bought it...and made a [net] profit! And no, I wasn't dealing in kilograms or metric tons. Unbelievable!

You have to be the worst "PR" rep ever lol.
580  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Play w/Your Precious Metals(You Know You Want To): Cotton Handling Gloves on: July 30, 2013, 09:14:51 PM
Hey everybody,
I can't be the only one who is transfixed by my Precious Metal collection. I always just want to touch it, play with it, etc (not in a weird way lol). Gold and silver should ALWAYS be handled with gloves. And latex/other "one time use" gloves could be harmful to your metals. The absolute safest way to handle your metals is with cotton gloves.

I am selling cotton gloves (pair) for 0.03813 BTC - which includes shipping in the US. If you are international, PM me if interested.

Thanks!
