Yeah, the private key presents a problem. But you don't have to trust the person- just plug the address in on blockchain to confirm.

Got your attention. Anyway, I had an idea when I saw an old bill and it said "redeemable for gold" where the "this legal tender..." is on a US bill today.

I like doing this stuff. Plus I like the idea of spreading the truth of the Fed.

Its a sticky label right over it. This was the FIRST one I made (and I'm kind of intoxicated), so I can guarantee future ones will look better.

Anyways, I will send the first 3 people who post a sticker or two to put on bills you might encounter.

1045  Other / Off-topic / Re: Should i remove all my posts about ed trice who scammed me of 47220 usd? on: April 24, 2013, 05:10:45 AM
Keep them up if they benefit users. Who does he think he is asking you to take them down? Unless he paid you back...in that case take them down and make maybe a single post detailing what happened (a scammer is a scammer), but mention he paid you back.
1046  Other / Off-topic / Re: I came up with an idea... on: April 24, 2013, 05:08:28 AM
I believe they call that a "paper wallet" Wink

But yeah, having a Casascius-quality paper wallet holder would be pretty cool.
Notice I said the exact same thing Wink
What I was talking about was something like...a reusable coin actually made by Casascius

Not a smartass, just curious. Was looking to get a couple 1BTC coins but that isn't possible through the source anymore. So now all I see are collectors and resellers making extra off the same thing. I am just trying to determine what that 'thing' is that makes it $40-60 over face value.

I seem to remember casa selling them for around 1.28BTC two years ago, what has changed?

By the way I am not a coin guy as if you couldn't tell. Grin
Cool, sorry if I offended you mentioning the "smartass" thing (although there are plenty of trolls on here, you have to be careful). I have a coin listed on BitMit for 1.38. And, I made sure that was the cheapest price on there for one. By the way-I'd rather sell here than BitMit (avoid their fee). User "molecular" sold out of coins selling them at 1.6! Although, that included free worldwide shipping. My price includes domestic (USA) shipping.
And yes, there was originally a premium on Casascius coins anyways (it only makes sense-he had to cover the costs of making the coins/holograms, and a profit). But now demand is much higher because Casascius sells by invite-only. I figured I could move this quick @ 1.38 BTC. We'll see.
1049  Economy / Goods / Re: Physical Bitcoin (Novelty) Awesome Design, Heavy, Well Built Coins - Gold Plated on: April 23, 2013, 09:36:19 PM

Yes that's pretty accurate, but hopefully some new products will be more successful
Why didn't you make fundable coins like the Casascius physical bitcoins? Every coin would have a Bitcoin address and a private key hidden inside and then they would be really backed up by real bitcoins like the Casascius coins.

They look awesome regardless! Smiley

If i understood his intention was to be something like a bank. Whoever had those coins would actually hold the real value(without having the priv key) of those coins to trade with other people or return to him for the actual coin value. Erm, i think thats why each coin in the pics have a different code on them (just like usd's or euros bills)

I think he didnt chase it much for them to succeed and now selling them as is to cover his costs for making them.

That said i may have misunderstood their point, though im gonna try to make the back side flat (the side that says "new orleans") of the coins i ordered, and print out private keys for each to stick there, just like casascius ones. If i succeed you will see a thread popping up in here in a few days Wink
I don't think its necessary to make one side flat in order to make it bitcoin-loadable. I don't know how you plan on doing it, but just generate a QR code of the private key, size it accordingly, apply it so the blank side of the QR code is against the hologram and the inked side will be against the coin. The hologram should be able to handle a slight contour. Just my two cents-I don't want you to ruin one of your coins if trying to make it flat doesn't work out!
1050  Other / Off-topic / I came up with an idea... on: April 23, 2013, 09:21:09 PM
wouldn't it be cool to have a reusable physical bitcoin? I know how to make one myself, but I'm talking one on the level of Casascius coins. The only problem I can think of is that users would have to have access to the private key (so they could redeem multiple times). Does this sound like a good idea to anyone else? Casascius coins are valuable as collector's items-maybe some people collect used coins, but most people wouldn't spend money on a redeemed coin-they would want the hologram (bitcoin) in tact. Something like a reusable coin would solve this problem. Only 2 issues-access to the private key, as mentioned, and getting the coin to the level of Casascius coins in terms of hype (probably not an easy task lol).
1051  Other / Archival / Re: [WTS] Casascius 1 BTC Physical Coins *Price Update* on: April 23, 2013, 09:37:08 AM
**edit: by offer I mean offer in Bitcoins (or gold if you have it!)**
As posted earlier, I would rather trade for gold, but I'm open to selling a couple of my Casascius coins. They are all 1 BTC. Although, I do have a 5 BTC coin that I loaded .5 BTC on (doubt there'd be any interest in that). All my coins are pristine. They have literally never been touched by me, and all but two came factory-packaged to me. Each coin went directly into a case as soon as it reached me. I am asking 1.4BTC/ea, including shipping anywhere in the US. I would like to sell these domestically (USA), but if you are OK with the risk of First Class Intl Shipping, or willing to pay for Priority International, I'll ship to you wherever you are.
Thanks!

Read again, you'll see. I don't know if you're being a smartass or just really don't know. But good luck finding a Casascius coin sold without a premium.

1054  Economy / Goods / Re: selling 100oz bars of silver for bitcoin on: April 23, 2013, 09:01:02 AM
100oz Johnson Matthey and Englehardt silver bars availble.

Can use agreed upon 3rd party for escrow which buyer pays

Bars will ship from Atlanta.

Buyer pays shipping and insurance.

Normal silver price taken from kitco spot plus 5%
but this can be reduce to spot for the first buyer

bitcoin price per oz calculated based on:
100oz x (kitco silver spot)/(mtgox weighted average)

Limited supply of bars.
Offer only good through Sunday April 7th.
After that date formula may change.

Spot plus may vary between 0-5%.
PM for quote and for contact info.

For reference:using the formula above makes a 100 oz bar just under $2,300

On behalf of the OP, this is a very good deal, even at 5% over spot. Of course there are sites that sell them for barely $1 over spot-but those sites (Apmex, Pan American site, etc-do some investigating) only offer them at that price if you buy 100x100oz bars (literally). Wish I had the BTC for this one. Good luck selling-not that you need it with these lol. Oh and if you don't believe me, check this out:

1058  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER Coinabul owes me 3.3 BTC! on: April 22, 2013, 12:53:36 AM
Everyone...I doubt OP would be calling Coinabul scammers after 3 days if it was the first incident of them acting shady. If you ask me, not hearing anything for 3 days alone would be a red flag. All the stuff I've read about them on here makes that x 10. And Coinabul was one of the foremost companies accepting bitcoins before they turned scammers, so I have pity on you OP. I hope you get it figured out. Nearly ALL my dealings in precious metals w/bitcoins I do with amagimetals.com. Yet to be disappointed.
1059  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 3 * 1 BTC Physical Casascius Coin 2011 (3btc) on: April 21, 2013, 11:10:59 PM
This is probably too expensive. These are not from the first series which are the valuable ones. I would pay half that.
This. People like the original w/the spelling error and the first bits printed directly on holo.
