36 Bitcoins seems quite high considering the spot price of gold.

1104  Economy / Goods / Re: 90% Silver US Coins at Negotiable Prices on: April 15, 2013, 09:53:54 AM
Oh yes, those are very useful. Now I already told this to you, but if there a specific coin (ANY coin), specific bullion, bullion in bulk, etc. let me know and we can compare prices. The owner seemed snotty at first but once he realized I wasn't somebody just trying to cash out, he started being really good to me. And that was over a year and a half ago!
1105  Economy / Goods / Re: 90% Silver US Coins at Negotiable Prices on: April 15, 2013, 04:49:25 AM
It's very fair, and it explains why I've already sold over half of what I have. And if you are waiting to pay $32 for a Troy ounce of 90% silver, you are wasting your time. It is almost impossible to get a deal on silver on eBay. I did once-I bought 10 x 90% quarters for $1.25 each (the guy knew what thy were, too-nut have needed drug money or something. And again no offense, but you have it backwards. I frequent several coin shops. The most expensive one charges $1 over spot for a random 1 oz round. I bought some yesterday (silver was at $25.xx) for less than $27. And that is one ounce of .999
Silver, not 90%. I guarantee you there is not a single listing on eBay right now for that price, or even one under $30.
I bought 30 Mercury dimes just a few days ago at ~$31 / troy oz, including shipping.  I'm still kicking myself for not bidding more on the 100 silver Roosevelts that went for ~$29 / troy oz.  There were also some lots of 25 recently that went for $31 / troy oz.  *shrug*  It does happen.  Then again, it seems like all the rolls being sold (50 dimes) won't go for less than an average of ~$125  (~$35 / troy oz).

Sounds like I need to go to cheaper coin shops... I wanted some sterling silver junk coins and they were charging 2x the spot price; even bulk they wouldn't give me better than 30% over spot.
Wow, I'm sorry. I'll take some pictures next time I'm at one so you and everyone else doesn't think I'm full of it. One even has BU (Uncirculated) Libertads, old and new style for $2.50 over spot, and I think Philharmonics are like $3 over spot. Next time I'm there I'll snap some pictures with my camera and reply to this thread w/them.

1107  Economy / Goods / Re: 90% Silver US Coins at Negotiable Prices on: April 15, 2013, 04:19:24 AM
I've been looking at junk silver coins a lot lately so I'll do the math for everybody.

At ~$95 USD / 1 BTC, that's ~$22.50 USD per $1 of silver coins.  There is 0.07234 troy ounces of silver in a 90% silver dime.  I've seen the figure of 0.0715 to account for 1.11% loss of the silver due to wear on the coin.  So, ten dimes in a dollar = 0.715 ounces of silver.

Current silver spot price is ~$24.50 / troy oz.  Sold at spot price, those dimes would be $17.50.  You're asking for ~$34.25 / troy oz; each $1 in face value of dimes sold will net you a 28.5% profit.

Sorry, no thanks!  I can get junk silver from trustworthy sellers on eBay at a spot price of $32 / troy oz, including shipping, if I'm patient.  I've seen worse, though.  IMO those are a better deal if they're Mercury dimes and not just Roosevelt dimes, but that's a personal preference and not backed by any numismatic acumen.

Important question:  does that include shipping, and if so, to where?
No offense here, but your post also shows a lack of knowledge of scrap bullion silver. Minted US 90% coins always go for a premium higher than "925" jewelry. Because the truth is, I could buy a 925 stamp on ebay and stamp something that's 90% silver. When you buy 90% coins minted by the US government [insert joke here] you know exactly what you're getting. Also, junk Mercury dollars are worth absolutely no more than junk Roosevelts. There are even Barbers and Seated Liberties that are junk silver. Junk silver=junk silver=the same price. There are key date coins in all series, but good luck ever finding one of those in a junk lot.
1108  Economy / Goods / Re: 90% Silver US Coins at Negotiable Prices on: April 15, 2013, 04:15:09 AM
It includes domestic (anywhere in US) shipping. And visit any coin shop-Maybe 1/10 charges 20x face value for 90% coins(**edit: plus tax). Which means $1 face value would be $20. And I am asking $22.50 including shipping in US (w/tracking). Its a deal thats more than fair. And if you find a listing that costs less on eBay (for 90% US coins, not junk "925") I'll give you .01 bitcoin for the hell of it and beat that price. Good luck.

1110  Economy / Services / [WANTED] Job! on: April 14, 2013, 01:17:31 AM
Hi everybody,
I am seriously looking for a job. I don't mean some task I get paid for in bitcoins. I mean a wear nice-clothes, 9-5 job. I have been looking for one, and I figured posting on here at the very least wouldn't hurt.
I live in San Diego. I am willing to commute up to an hour. I just graduated from a US News Top 50 University with a 3.25 GPA and a degree in Political Science. with a focus on Modern East-Asian Politics and Marxist Thought. I am interested in possibly going to Law School or getting my PhD in Political Science with a focus on Modern East Asian Politics.  Thus, I would be happy to take any job in a professional setting that would possibly provide me with some career-direction.
I am highly knowledgeable in the field of Numismatism, and also Precious Metals. I would also be interested in any job in the jewelry industry, as it combines interests of mine.
I have several references, from University Professors to previous employers. If anyone reading this may have something to offer me, please send me a PM and I would be happy to send you my resume.

Thank you!

1112  Economy / Speculation / The Recent Price-Drop is bigger than Bitcoins on: April 14, 2013, 01:01:34 AM
I believe 100% that the drop in price of bitcoins is based on a much larger...something. Yesterday I went to my local con store because silver was down lower than I have seen it in like six months (it was $25/oz). I don't pay as much attention to gold (don't really have the money), but when I got to the coin shop it was packed with people buying gold by the multiple ozs. Seeing how significant the drop was, even poor me capitalized on it and bought an ounce of gold. How could it be any coincidence that bitcoins suffered such a blow, and so did silver and gold? I have no idea what caused the drop in $ in all of them (even the coin shop owner admitted he had no idea), but they have to be linked. Since this is the "speculation" thread its basically impossible to pinpoint the cause, but I'm curious what people think?
1113  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can you buy or sell less than 1 BTC with MtGox? on: April 14, 2013, 12:55:37 AM
If so, I can't figure out how to do it.   I wasn't able to buy a fractional share and then bought a full BTC.  Now I wanted to just sell half of it, but it won't let me do that either.   Is this just the way it's set up or am I don't something wrong?  Thanks.
Yeah, I do it all the time. I'm a pretty poor college student, but I always try to keep some fiat on Gox in case trade rates are good. All I do is fill in the box that says "total amount to spend in USD".
1114  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: A simple solution to the MtGox problem on: April 14, 2013, 12:54:02 AM
1. We agree that Gox is problematic.
2. We all trade on Gox anyway because everyone else trades on Gox - and you need volume to trade efficiently.
3. Most serious traders don't use the other markets because they are too quiet.
4. They are quiet because no-one uses them because they are too quiet.... [vicious loop here]

A solution:

If we all (or a lot of us) can agree to use a another exchange (Bitstamp, Bitfloor, or whoever we agree is best) and agree together collectively to move there at the same time, then the essential problem is solved.

It just would require some organisation and co-ordination (and of course warning the lucky exchange to upgrade their servers to accomodate).

I believe it would be a simple matter to use these forums to orchestrate.

Comments?

Good luck. Mobilizing a large number of people is no easy task. Especially for something petty like this. (I don't mean any offense)
1115  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where is my BitInstant --> Mt Gox deposit???? on: April 14, 2013, 12:50:55 AM
That is strange. I wish you the best (that your funds show up). What payment method did you do? I always do MoneyGram. I complete the process and pay the cashier, then literally as soon as I get to my car the funds are available on MtGox.
1116  Economy / Service Discussion / Logging into BitMit ---> Not all items show up? on: April 14, 2013, 12:44:22 AM
Hi,
I have noticed that when I browse BitMit not logged in I can see a lot more things for sale than when I log in. Its weird. Has anyone else noticed this? I guess the only solution is copying the URL of the item you're interested in checking out, logging in, and then entering the URL. If anyone else has a better solution, please share it!

One awesome guy with knowledge in World coins, and another awesome guy who deals with bhut jolakia and other exotic stuff. Do you guys really have to fight ? I am so sad  Sad
I gave in a while after we had our first "run-in". I said lets forget that, its the past, and it would be beneficial for us to trade together. He was so immature enough as to say after that that he would never trade with me. Tecshare-tell everyone that this is not true...dare ya. I don't hold grudges. But if someone does about me, its fun to fuck with them.

What about the gentleman who posted above saying that he bought 50? Nice try though.

He got an extremely discounted rate. You know what you should get? A life.
Says the man (boy*) who start a thread about me because I wouldn't send you my silver first. You wouldn't even do escrow. To anyone, go ahead and look for that post and see how many people said how bad tecshare here could use some anal lube.
Also, not that it really matters, but I would bet my life the guy paid more buying the signs from you than if he paid $1.99 and paid a flat $6 shipping fee.
