1241  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why Isn't Bitmit more popular? on: March 27, 2013, 09:24:07 PM
The site itself is great. It probably isn't held in higher regard just because of the crap some people post on there.
1242  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] REAL (NOT "replica or dummy") Grenades (inert)- Different Types on: March 27, 2013, 09:23:08 PM
There he is! Nice try, but those are dummy grenades. As in were never real ones.
1243  Economy / Goods / [WTS] REAL (NOT "replica or dummy") Grenades (inert)- Different Types on: March 27, 2013, 09:56:44 AM
I was at a local Army Surplus store for the first time and noticed when I was paying a shelf full of grenades that looked like REAL grenades. I was honestly scared for a second. I quickly asked the cashier about them. He said all 3 types were US grenades at some point (WWII, Korea, etc-I had to do a Google search on "American Grenades). They have been made inert. I asked him if they were legal and he said yes. I was originally going to hold off but he told me these, once having been real, are very hard to find on the internet. I searched. There are plenty of "dummy" grenades. They could be replicas (with all working parts), former training grenades, etc. These were the coolest things I found in a while. I don't have a ton, but I made sure to get at least 1 of each. I'll sell most of them, so if you want a specific one I'm sure I can get it to you. Anyways, including shipping (priority), I am asking .34 BTC/ea. Please PM me. Thanks!

1244  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I buy and Sell for PAYPAL !! Get over it. on: March 27, 2013, 05:08:22 AM

1245  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC/USD: Ready for "The Running of the Bears"? on: March 27, 2013, 03:21:45 AM
Give the guy (ATC) a break. This is, after all, the Speculation thread, not the This is Exactly What is Going to Happen thread. He obviously put a lot of time and thought into his analysis, and I enjoyed reviewing it. Would you rather he just didn't post it? Should we burn all the threads that prove not to be 100% accurate?

1248  Economy / Speculation / Re: Casascius coins and the future... on: March 26, 2013, 05:49:08 AM
... I turned almost all my coins into Casascius coins ...

Wasn't that expensive? You either have only a few coins, or lots of money!
Not really, since I bought a bunch I got them for less than 1.1/ea
@ whoever mentioned Casascius redeeming keys: Check his website, he explains how he generates addresses/keys and doesn't ever see them
Plus he's making more money doing what he's doing than he would if he started redeeming keys. I'm sure his marginal cost is next to like 0 now and one of his coins costs 1.5 bitcoins...it would make absolutely no sense for him to start redeeming keys (if he even had them), as long as his products continue to sell-which they do
@ whoever wanted to sell Series 1 for 2 BTC...there was a thread on here w/someone selling them for 3 BTC a while ago, and I also remember a post on BitMit. Although, that was before they were $75/ea
1249  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Amagi Metals - Largest Selection of Gold & Silver for Bitcoins on: March 26, 2013, 05:31:52 AM
We are constantly fed the bill of goods at this forum how advantageous it is for merchants to sell for btc, because it's "virtually free" to pay with it, compared to any other form of payment, because it's like "totally decentralized", non-Fed or bank,  digital freedom "cash", man!   Roll Eyes
Right now, it seems even more advantageous to the merchant because the btc is gaining value so quickly against the "worthless fiat" we all hate so much here.

With all that in mind, explain to me please why your prices are still higher if I pay you in btc, than if I send my "worthless fiat" via check or money order to APMEX to buy the same thing?
Have you ever actually bought anything from APMEX? There is a minimum and they charge a FORTUNE for shipping. What exactly do you feel Amagi has priced highly?
1250  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC/USD: Ready for "The Running of the Bears"? on: March 25, 2013, 07:53:39 AM
You are talking about fundamentals but you intantionally didn't mention some very important one. For example, besides the drugs/money landering, we have strong gambling industry evolving and other merchants are accepting bitcoins. Also among the new users we have big whales with strong hands, those are not little guys with couple of thpusand of dollars like most other users, even hedge funds are being created as we speak. Also if you look at the google trends indicator or number of wikipedia views for bitcoin, it is skyrocketing.
I believe this rally will end up badly when the money inflow stops but we are far from it now. It is questionable if we go above 100 ( that's a very strong psychological barrier), but I don't really expect any big crash at this time. The momentum is too strong.

Disclaimer: I've sold almost all of my coins last week  Grin I have less than 500 BTC now, part of it in SDICE shares. I wasn't confortable holding so much at these high prices, so I took the profit. But I still think the rally is far from over . And early adopters don't have enough BTC to crash the market anymore.
I heard (emphasis on heard) that Bitcoin Gambling and Silk Road made up something like 80% of bitcoin transactions.
And you are right...*knock on wood* there is probably just more to come.
And as there continues to be no legislation regarding Bitcoins (might be wrong) its only a matter of time until organized crime gets into it to buy, sell, and launder. My only question is how have they not already?
1251  Economy / Speculation / Re: Casascius coins and the future... on: March 25, 2013, 07:43:27 AM
I have seen a couple people selling both the new 3rd Series and their remaining 2nd Series. The prices for both were very close, but the 3rd Series was actually less. So I guess hold onto your Series 2, it'll become a "collectible".
I have another question-I have seen multiple people on here and on BitMit selling Series 1 Coins for 3BTC. And, people are paying it! Is it because the Series 1 was "the first" Physical Bitcoin? Or because of the misspelling on the back? That's all I can figure. Are Casascius coins really going to become a valuable (as in 3 X Face Value) anytime soon?
Its a hard question, I know. But what do you think about people paying so much for a Series 1?
1252  Economy / Speculation / Casascius coins and the future... on: March 25, 2013, 05:59:53 AM
I'm not planning on cashing my coins in any time soon. Its tough sometimes, but I think I'll manage. I turned almost all my coins into Casascius coins so I'd feel bad spending em lol. And any additional coins that I make I turn into a bill and put a sticker over the key-self-restraint.
Anyways, I've seen Series 1 coins sell for 3 BTC. I thought that was a little ridiculous, but I don't know. What do you guys see original Casascius (Series 1, 2, 3) coins being worth in the future?
1253  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC/USD: Ready for "The Running of the Bears"? on: March 25, 2013, 05:49:02 AM
I'm not trying to get in the middle here but it sounds like he was layed up in the hospital or something-he got in a car accident. Kind of hard to bitinstant then head to 7/11 to use Moneygram.
1254  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC/USD: Ready for "The Running of the Bears"? on: March 25, 2013, 05:42:31 AM
"Technical analysis has made me hundreds of thousands of dollars in stocks, futures, FOREX (currency) and options"

Yet, you were asking for a 3-5 BTC loan... Sure, your TA has suddenly become way more clear...
I guess I'd recommend a financial planner since all those hundreds of thousands of dollars are gone...

Anyways, let me save you the trouble of hitting the ignore button... Although you are indeed a funny guy.

I borrowed some coin because I had no way to buy any more and wanted to do something with them. I was just in a car accident, so all the formerly open venues of purchasing bitcoin whenever I want are currently closed. And btw, I succeeded in what I wanted to do (multiplied the 6.00 BTC I borrowed several times, bought some new mining equipment and sold the rest).  Smiley

@ johnniewalker:

If you're in it for the long-haul, as in several years, then just ignore all of this short-term volatility. You're playing a totally different ball-game.
I was going to say, in defense of OP you mentioned being in a car accident at the beginning of this post, I didn't see anything contradictory in that post. From time to time I check the speculation thread, just for kicks. The truth of the matter is, as Bitcoin is deflationary, the only thing I (someone in for long haul) has to worry about is some government action against Bitcoin, public interest dissipating (seems unlikely at this point), or god forbid some other, unforseen big event.
1255  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC/USD: Ready for "The Running of the Bears"? on: March 25, 2013, 05:36:04 AM
@ Johnniewalker ::

Boy does that look familiar... parabola? Check... Double-top? Check... Sell-off?  Wink
What if in a panic I had sold in June of '09? Does your model and your encouragement to sell consider those who are in this for the "long haul"? Again, just trying to learn here.
**between Jan and June of '09
1256  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC/USD: Ready for "The Running of the Bears"? on: March 25, 2013, 05:32:26 AM
Did anyone else notice the graph in the OP went back about a week and a half ago?
I found this graph somewhere else in the Speculations thread (not taking credit for it)

Is it just me, or do you see several "Double Top" Patterns in this longer-term analysis of the market? I'm not trying to be a smart ass or stir up any controversy or anything, but I would like to know what OP has to say about this.

I then get a response telling me im "a troll just like the ones on bitcointalk" and that I have no clue about CafePress stores.

True, and true. Just like those on my ignore list, you too think that "Anybody can right click + save a logo, invert it or screw around with
the colours a bit. Maybe add a little bit of text or apply some filter/effect to it", which is not only far from the truth but not exactly the
way one can deliver both quality and quantity on CafePress or elsewhere. Same as them, you know all about CafePress, you know all about
e-commerce, you know all about web and graphic design or whatnot but not only that you provided no evidence whatsoever for any of it,
you are actualy running dying ads website utilizing "brilliant" idea of letting it's users - some of whom are using proxies, multiple browsers
and computers or even reset their IPs multiple times per day - have a say on ads with like / dislike thumbs ... those same ads someone paid
you to have advertised there! Idea of the century - go tell AdSense and others in advertising business how stupid they are!

Feel free to post our complete debate here, not just parts suiting your argument. Let's have a weekend filled with drama, forum is lacking it!  Grin

You havnt provided any evidence whatsoever that you havnt done anything more than literally just take the bitcoin logo from google images and uploaded it to cafepress. Id be pretty interested in hearing what your actual workflow is that makes resizing or changing some colours on a single image and hitting a few checkboxes so difficult and require 300+ hours of work.

Let me just clarify something. Theres nothing wrong with trying to sell stuff over CafePress. Kudos for trying. The problem comes in with shit like this:

  • when you claim to have put in "over 300 hours of professional work" and use "over 400 custom designed renders". Loading up a image thats part of the public domain into photoshop and tweaking the colours and size is absolutely not "Design". With that logic, I could go find a image of Mickey Mouse, invert the colours and turn him upside down, then go "look everybody, look what I designed!".  Furthermore, CafePress does 99% of EVERYTHING for you. All HTML/CSS/Javascript/Server side programming, hosting, payment processing, actually creating the product, shipping the product and all order handling (and probably all customer service) is taken care of by them. Thats the whole point of cafepress. The job of the cafepress user is just to choose templates, select what premade products you want and upload images to slap onto those products. In no way does that constitute "professional" work. If you have actually spent over 300 hours doing that, your doing it wrong.
  • Saying things like "Fuck You " to people who dont want to take up your "challenge" , and calling people "jealous incompetent retards" who dont like your "store" is a surefire way to lose respect from just about anyone, especially the community that you are trying to market this shit to. You have to earn respect in order to get respect. And if your trying to do business, you need to maintain a level of professionalism (ie, dont cry and start insulting people when you get negative feedback). Doing otherwise will just keep digging a deeper and deeper hole.

Your trying to build a business based soley around selling products you didnt make, that have a public domain image that you also didnt make. No one cares if you made an alternate render of the bitcoin logo, and made it pixel perfect to the original source file. Its still Just a B with a line through it and a circle around it. Its not some holy symbol that everyone in the bitcoin community adores and sees as some sort of representation of themselves. Its a fucking capital B inside of a circle.

even reset their IPs multiple times per day

You do realize that you cant just change your public IP address at will right? Maybe with a dynamic IP, but do you honestly think that there is a group of people going out of their way just to downvote you on one website, because they are "jealous"?

Well, Im no expert with cafepress (why would you want to be?), though I have used it before.. but the rest is actually true. I develop websites 6-12 hours a day, every day. Iv been building websites for over 6 years. I work for two different profressional web development companies in my current town. Iv created dozens of websites for all sorts of businesses and organizations, plus my own websites. And have worked on dozens and dozens more. Iv built e-commerce sites, and have worked on some pretty large ones that bring in $100,000 + sales a month. I could give all kinds of examples, but im not going to post it here, especially in this topic.. if anyone thinks im just talking bullshit, feel free to PM me Smiley
