661  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [free to join] My second contest : win a wonderful Bitbox from Shiftcrypto !!! on: June 24, 2023, 05:10:39 PM
Now I am curious how you will select winners and identify my submitted response. Because I did not find any form where you asked for my forum username, and you did not collect the email either. Or did I miss something?

This is an interesting point.
If OP shows all the names at the end, I'm not sure what's the point for the google form then.
If OP doesn't show all the names before picking the block, then people will start complaining about the "unclear" fairness Cheesy

PS. It's solely OP's business how he's doing this, please take it as advice, not as complaint (since it's not).

Dear Samreomo,

Words are cheap. You've only proven that you can write nicely (or an AI can do that for you nowadays), but that means nothing, we still have to trust your word for it and that ain't gonna happen.
So no. This smells more a scam than a proper business.

same as banks

Your user name already tells a lot and yes, these are good questions.

However, I have a remark: at least in EU, at least for funds under 100k EUR, the money in the banks is protected by law (if the bank goes bankrupt the national bank or an agency will reimburse you).
And somehow I think that some of those mindlessly (sorry, but this is the truth in a vast majority of the cases) keep their money in exchanges' custody expect something similar for their money (which in most cases won't happen).

668  Economy / Economics / Re: Lucky you do not sell to blackrock on: June 18, 2023, 07:54:09 AM
I will fight that corporate, I won't sell my btc for them. never!!

I think it could be wiser to sell (some) at some (much later) point, to allow you an easy life. But it's your money (in your own custody, which is very good), so it's clearly up to you.

It's hard to fight them, that's why they are called whales, you can go against them in the open sea.

Perhaps the best thing to do is swim with them, in every price drop, do what they do, buy and continue to accumulate as much as you can. They are definitely hungrier, and they have the capital to scoop as much as you can. But for us average joe, we can also do that as well, and buy where our money can get us and then HODL and wait for the next bull run (2024-2025).

It's only hard to fight them if your hearth starts beating harder at every small movement the price does. Imho it's not worth it. Just zoom to see much longer periods of time, buy in crypto winter, sell (if at all) in FOMO bubble (even if not at the top), and in the rest of time just sit back and relax. Then the whales will no longer be able to touch you.
669  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does ranking not guarantee post quality? on: June 17, 2023, 06:43:55 PM
Maybe I haven't read all the threads, so I have to ask about my statement, that many high ranking members have low quality posts? talk nonsense and have no clear arguments. Is my statement correct?

1. Not all high rank members needed merit to rank up. Some do have mostly low quality posts, but I don't think they're a majority (but yeah, I have a lot of spam areas on ignore).
2. Some areas and posts are more for fun (one example is W.O.), and that should be taken more lightly.
3. Some people prefer to have fun now and then, some others try too hard to post a lot (for their campaigns) and both cases can end up easily to also have some lower quality posts (some more of them, some less..)
4. Keep in mind that people have started without knowledge. I am sure that many of my posts from my first years on the forum can be seen today as weak.

But it doesn't matter that much. If you, as newbie, are looking for post quality already then you see this forum as a (posting) business. You may be too early. Allow yourself have weaker posts too, allow yourself learn and socialize too around here.
670  Economy / Economics / Re: Lucky you do not sell to blackrock on: June 17, 2023, 06:33:25 PM
Next year is too far away; it's already happening right now. The price has bumped up a little bit down from yesterday, with at least a whole $1k already added to it.

While you've noticed correctly the quick recovery of the price, I will tell you a secret: next year is not too far away. And exactly that's why (next year is halving year, you know), the corporate traders (buyers) may be hungrier than in the past 2 years.
Also, for the sake of your long term sanity, start thinking on longer terms, else the daily price movements will affect you, sooner or later (especially if you also hodl a little).
671  Economy / Collectibles / Re: What do you guys think of the Golden Triumph paintings / prints? on: June 17, 2023, 06:21:27 PM
So the gold bug Peter Schiff goes by Trump recipe and after bashing bitcoin in all the way he could (in writing), now he tries to make money off it? And people even advertise that in here? Why?? Oh, why???!!??

Do I have to tell explicitly that I find this as a no-go for anybody who cares about Bitcoin?
672  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023-06-09] Russian Nationals Charged With Hacking One Cryptocurrency Exchange on: June 17, 2023, 06:05:40 PM
Do we know what his sentence would be if he were sent in Russia?

In Russia he may have a new trial and his chances are from completely dropped charges (for example to spit in US "general direction") to even going to fight in the war.
But no, it's just a lawyer gimmick. I tend to believe that the lawyers knew that DOJ will refuse that before even asking.
673  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The best countries tax wise for Bitcoin on: June 17, 2023, 05:47:50 PM
But hey, my intention was to debate, not to pose this as a battle with winners and losers.

Accusing somebody of being dishonest is quite a way to start a debate, yeah...

Deliberately? You talked about Germany and I answered you talking about Germany, or am I missing something here?

I was talking about your France and Italy examples.

Bulgaria is a very good compromise for Europeans. There is a flat tax of 10% and you keep the privileges of the European Union. The cost of living is very low, there are jobs in almost every European language in certain fields, and private property is not expensive. That's the choice my wife and I made, but it was made easier by the fact that we're flexible in terms of employment and have no real responsibilities other than ourselves, and that we've already lived in other countries that were more difficult in terms of integration and administration. What convinced me was the cost of electricity, which can be extremely low here with certain contracts, as I have a mining farm.

Slovenia was very pleasant, an incredible living environment, but the laws on taxation of cryptos are becoming disadvantageous, and it is undergoing too much Westernisation unfortunately.

Many people talk about Portugal, but personally, in all my calculations, I would have lost out there because the advantages were only temporary and for certain thresholds.

Nice examples. Afaik Croatia has also interesting laws on crypto taxation.
I'm surprised about what you're telling on Portugal. I guess I'm a bit behind with this, I'll have to research...

all egypt

After looking at your trust feedback I tend to believe it is only you who is blocked/banned, probably for attempts of cheating.
Of course, I may be wrong, but since you didn't care to post any proof for your claims... yeah...
675  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The best countries tax wise for Bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 06:40:52 PM
4. If Germany's crypto tax is lax, I expect this will be copied in some other European countries in the not-so-far future, hence it may not be a bad idea to have a bit more patience and keep the eyes open.

I would find the statement more credible if you had used "I hope" instead of "I expect", which implies a more vain hope. Germany has had a more favorable legislation to cryptocurrencies for many years, and there has not been the copying effect you are talking about, so I do not expect it to happen, except in some specific case perhaps and for other reasons, not for copying what Germany does. In the same way, Germany is called the European locomotive because it has an economic policy different from the rest, which encourages productivity and mass competition, and France with its elephantine state or Italy with its peculiarities do not copy it.

Not credible and "vain hope"? LOL! You come more than a year later saying that?! A lot changes in a year (do I really have to say that?!)
Back then I did expect that. Meanwhile the things somehow got.. slower, which is a surprise for me.
And, if you read, I wrote "some" countries. A possible short could contain Poland, Croatia, Romania, countries that imho look up to Germany. Especially France is expected to take its own decision (which may or may not be identical to Germany's), hence you deliberately picked at least one poor example.

However, since then there were news that made me lower my expectations by a great deal, hence now I'm indeed at the "I hope" stage.
And yeah, believe what you want.

677  Economy / Economics / Re: I thought there was an egg shortage. on: June 12, 2023, 06:35:17 PM
I thought there was a global panic over egg supplies.

I can't tell about UK, but here there was at some point an attempt to panic people with stories about the rising prices of electricity and gas that will make everything overly expensive.
Just those prices did stabilize even before the winter has ended and afterwards the overly cheap grains from Ukraine flooding all the European markets made a lot of agriculture related products' prices fall fast.
I will add that in my country I noticed (in a few different years, including this one) that around Easter (+/- a few weeks) there's a tendency to have over-production of eggs.

I guess that there were many things that made the price of eggs go much lower (although your 21p is lower than I would have expected), including somewhat better supply chains from cheaper countries (PL, RO) towards the UK.

680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interview candidates needed for academic research on wrench attacks on: June 12, 2023, 05:59:43 PM
how did attackers find you and/or why did they target you in particular?

I expect most of the victims don't know why they've got targeted, although I expect the reason is either them bragging about how many coins they have or other ways they've displayed their wealth, either in their neighborhood or on the internet. The few cases I've read about were either known people on the internet, either known "business people".
However, I would be surprised if people would approach you tell their stories. I expect that remembering that is painful and brings no benefit for them.

But yeah, it's just wild guesses. Good luck!
