681  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Secret of investing no one tells you about on: October 06, 2023, 04:36:31 AM
But decent advice nonetheless.
Agree.

It's pretty generic content but many investors do not practice it along with other common advice like;
• Buy the dip and sell the pump; lots of people wait for the market to start climbing up before they consider buying,
• Not your keys, not your coins; lots of people give up custody to exchanges using them as wallets and give up their privacy too through KYC.
• Don't invest more than you can afford to lose.

It doesn't hurt to repeat them a couple more times.
682  Other / Off-topic / Re: I Used Cracked Windows 10 Activated on: October 06, 2023, 04:30:45 AM
I Used Cracked Windows 10 Activated (download from internet) on my laptop, and installed Electrum wallet.

Is my wallet safe?
No.
Your wallet is not safe even with simple habits like using it on the same device that you browse on, if that device is a oireted copy then you can assume there are malwares or viruses on it.

is there a spy on the cracked windows?
how do know that Cracked didn't inject malware and spyware, and send the data from my laptop to their server?
You don't know. I will assume the worst that they did and not use electrum on that device.
683  Economy / Economics / Re: A big win for crypto again on: October 05, 2023, 08:31:57 PM
This singular news on its own isn't a huge deal, but u an beginning to accept the impact politics has on decentralized oohects like Bitcoin. We commonly say that Bitcoin does not need government support or acceptance to thrive, it will however be accepted a lot easier if there is less agenda and policies stifling it's growth.

Hurdles like huge taxes on investors and miners can discourage people from buying it, when there is illegality around it, the number of those who will avoid it drops more significantly.
684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is this fascination with claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto? on: October 03, 2023, 09:07:42 PM
Most in this list have already been outed as scammer... No?
Yep - only CSW hanging on to his delusions
CSW has been proven to be a scammer in several occasions, he's just too buried deep into his own webs that he can't find which way is up.
685  Other / Meta / Re: Here is why Bitcointalk is a reliable source! on: October 03, 2023, 08:22:39 PM
I would love to know if there is any other Bitcoin related forum where can spend more useful time than here. Because in my knowledge there is none. But if there is then it will be a big favor from you. thanks in advance.
Hugeblack recommended https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/ as a more reliable source of information.

I've used it and while there are great pieces of information to be gotten from there and the forum is designed to show the best replies at the top, I will still pick this forum over it.
Bitcointalk has the discussion feel that many other forums are lacking and it still has one of the greatest resource for Bitcoin related knowledge and it's an extra bonus that Satoshi created it.
686  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need to Trade My Coin on: October 03, 2023, 08:04:20 PM
Diversification of your portfolio can also be of great advantage to increase your coin but please beware of Alt Coins.
Altcoins should be avoided totally if you're diversifying.

Diversification works if you are not using closely correlated assets, and every coins/token in the crypto market follows very similar market charts. If you want to really diversify then look to other industries like real estate, precious stones, stocks/bonds.

Cryptocurrency investment is risky so you may need a coach or Mentor and if you cannot afford always read the valuable content posted on BTC and Cryptocurrency in this community as there are many topic that can be useful to your growth and development.
No one needs a coach or mentor to get into crypto investment, you just need to know how to do your research.
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin devs really needs to focus more on making user interface easy to use on: October 03, 2023, 07:48:44 PM
There are multiple easy to use interface available in the market. Why not start using them? Use Coinbase wallet or Metamask wallet, they have really good user interface.
Coinbase wallet is not a recommended choice to use.

Development is NOT free. Either code what you want or pay a Dev to get it coded.
That's not how development on the network works at all. You do not just simply code what you want added to the protocol neither do you just pay someone to do it for you. What you can do is to create your own currency and add the changes you want to see in it to that project.
688  Other / Meta / Re: Come on, why remove a whole topic from politics board? on: October 02, 2023, 07:55:22 PM
also why are you going to other threads threatening people to delete their posts if they don't stop something? Lol, you are a moderator for God's sake, not a morality police.
That is literally what a moderator does. You should let Xaolex do their job without this much drama so early on.
You're complaining about a thread being deleted and still complaining about the mod using a different approach to get users to stop going off topic and explaining why some earlier posts will be deleted.

maybe my last post was off topic to you, but it's not off topic to the previous member, and in general is 100% on topic.  It's about politics after all,
The are the mod, and interprete cases based on their understanding of the rules. The fact that you disagree with that does not make them wrong.
689  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What I got from my Friend about Bitcoin on: October 02, 2023, 07:40:26 PM
I will be very much happy to acquire more knowledge in the forum. I am also planning to buy my first coins this week.
Before buying bitcoin you should ensure you know how to store Bitcoin safely and what wallet to use. You should also have a reason for buying Bitcoin, either to use it as a currency or as an investment. If you're using it as an investment then have a trading plan that works for you.

First thing to remember is to buy as much as you can afford to lose so you do not have to be forced to sell when you do not want to. If you use money that you might need in the future, when they need comes, you can be forced to sell even at a loss.

• Get a reputable wallet software which is non custodian and open source,
• Create an wallet on it and back it up on paper,
• Do not use electronic back ups cause they are exposed to the internet,
• Use a reputable exchange to buy and send coins to your wallet,
• Always do your research.
690  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is it possible to lock change by default? on: October 02, 2023, 07:19:10 PM
just wondered why any wallet developer didn't provide a setting to freeze multiple addresses at once, and if there is it will be helpful in someway right?
They probably did not include it cause there's low demand for the feature. I can see how it can be useful to make the process of freezing addresses much faster when you're doing something as simple as freezing a dust output or one single address.

Maybe in future some devs might attempt it, and this thread induced that idea!
This is possible. Wallets like electrum has been updating to add many of the desktop features like freezing addresses and UTXOs ok mobile, so if there's demand for it, they will make it possible to freeze multiple addresses at the same time.
691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Hacks a double edged sword on: October 02, 2023, 07:08:02 PM
As much as the crypto ecosystem has experienced several hacks over the years which has seen millions of Bitcoins lost to this,  there is actually some good that comes from them besides losing of coins,
Your topic title is wrong. There has been no hack on the Bitcoin network since the first year it was launched, what happens is people store there bitcoins in different platforms, closed source wallets, exchanges, etc and this gets hacked causing loss of the bitcoins.
This is not a problem in the Bitcoin network.

You as the user just has to keep your Bitcoin in your custody and make your security your own priority.
692  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you manage your finances and family if your income is low range? on: October 02, 2023, 04:19:22 AM
No matter how low a person's income is, even if it is difficult, people are able to run their family with that small amount of income.
That is quite an optimistic view, but no one can run a family on an income of $1 per day or less. There are basuc necessities that has to be paid for, of which the most important is food and shelter, if you cannot provide these 2 basic needs, there is no family

The higher your income the higher your expenses the lower your income the lower your expenses.
The lower your income, the more necessities you have to let go off. Your expenses does not reduce, but you adjust (by letting go of some things) to make it work. For example, you can forfeit an education for shelter, even though both are important, you opt for the most basic need.
693  Other / Off-topic / Re: Use note-taking apps on mobile if you don't want to lose your contents on: October 02, 2023, 04:10:05 AM
After finishing content, you can get error notification when click on Posting because some other users made their posts when you are composing.
That is a warning message and not an error notification, it comes in really handy when writing a reply to know if what you were planning to say has already been posted on the thread.

If you are not careful, click on back on the browser will cause you to lose your content if you don't save it somewhere else.
There is a draft page where you can preview to Dave your content there, it has some drawbacks like a minimum (100) number of messages and a time limit (7 days) after which messages are deleted, but it can help slightly while making a reply.

A note app can function better in some areas, but it has to be one which does not collate user data from what they type and keep logs of the information.
694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Impact of Bitcoin on Economic/Society Growth on: October 02, 2023, 03:36:59 AM
There was a time my country was suffering from money scarcity due to the changing of old naira notes and to get access to your own money was a problem but I can testify people who got bitcoin sold there bitcoin and they lived there normal lives despite the economic situation at that time.[/li][/list]
Bitcoin does not solve this problem of money scarcity. If you hold Bitcoin, you will still need to convert it to fiat which is acceptable by merchants as an acceptable medium of exchange.

But there are actually third parties involve in Bitcoin transactions and on Bitcoin network.

Transactions between two sides, buyers and sellers, senders and receivers must be confirmed by Bitcoin miners who do both tasks, mining new blocks and confirm transactions waiting in mempools. Bitcoin full nodes validate those transactions and check whether they belongs to a longest chain.
Miners and nodes do not count as third party in this context.

The white paper referred to third parties in the financial system, like central points that the transaction has to pass through. Those central points have full autonomy over the transaction and can perform acts against the wishes of the buyer or seller. Even when not selling those third parties has full access to the funds any of the other parties have in their custody. Such parties do not exist in Bitcoin.

Miners are scattered all over the world and there is no single point of failure where your Bitcoin has to pass through, so no single miner can affect the outcome of your transaction. They also only come into play during a transaction, not before it after.
695  Other / Meta / Re: How to check post bursting through ninjastic space on: October 01, 2023, 08:06:53 PM
I guess, post bursting implies not only a short period of time between posts, but also a short length of the post itself.
The length of a post does not determine the quality it adds to the discussion.
Many users wrongly relate post length to quality and this causes then to throw in a lot of fillers to make the reply look muh longer than it's necessary.

Managers add that character limit and set it very low as a baseline precaution, so users don't just write 'good observation there' and expect it to be counted.
696  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is a 20% Annual Return good ? on: October 01, 2023, 07:56:08 PM
There is no acceptable return percentage. Traders lose and win to very varying degrees depending on their skill and control of emotions, and a bit of luck. Many traders will want something more risky that 20% which can promise a some more profits, but winning no matter how small is better than losses.

But since there are no guarantees, even with backtesting there is no guarantee of profits.
697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some business/developers misunderstand how bitcoin fees works on: October 01, 2023, 05:18:17 AM
Anyway regardless this low fee hours, there are some poor managed exchanges or entities that looks they don't know what are they doing or how the fees works on the bitcoin mining process
There is some speculation that some exchanges use this medium to make some profits. They put a very high estimate on the exchange dashboard, but send the transaction with something much lower than that and pocket the rest of the fees paid

In many exchanges you cannot ascertain when they actually send the Bitcoin out and do not get any txid to monitor it on.

The miner actually don't care how much fee you pay they are going to mine at their same speed proof of that is that the ~19.82 Bitcoin fee stay almost 7 minutes on mempool before being mined:
Miners do care.
This happened probably because the next block took 7 minutes to be confirmed.
Bitcoin transactions are calculated in blocks and not time, so when you pay a higher feerate you are asking for it to be confirmed in the next block or next 2 blocks and not in the next minute.
698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why bitcoin has 21million supply on: September 30, 2023, 02:43:14 PM
Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, defined 21 million wahoos for this wish, but if it becomes more prominent, each unit will be crushed more,
This will only be done if there is a consensus agreement which will only happen when such a need for it becomes absolutely evident, which I don't see coming anytime soon.

currently each unit is 1000 satoshis.
Wrong.
Currently, 1BTC is 100,000,000 satoshis
699  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin started in 2009 on: September 30, 2023, 05:43:09 AM
It's about time we stop romanticising the past events and how much one would have made if they bought Bitcoin at that time and they are selling now or at the last all time high.

Rather than focusing on the now in Bitcoin and appreciating how far it has come, how much it has advanced and yet how much it has managed to stay the same in terms of the features it posseses and the fundamentals of it. This is very remarkable of itself and should be the focus onmf every current investor.

Do not look back to the last 14 years but look forward to the next 14 years, cause if you can't see that far ahead now, then you will not be able to have seen that far ahead in 2009.
700  Other / Meta / Re: How to check post bursting through ninjastic space on: September 29, 2023, 07:39:31 PM
The main characteristic of bursting or bursposting is the distance between one post and another,
You should check the time difference between the posts.
The time between the posts is not the only thing that defines post bursting it can also be how much the posts are spaced out. Some users don't log in for 5 days then come online 2 days to the end of the week and make 25 posts or whatever amount is the maximum in their campaign.

Ninjastic space helps to check all these, but it can be seen easily on the latest post page.

The most important factor for me should be the quality of the posts being made and how habitually the user burst posts.
