Interesting topic - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=827629.0

Apparently Cryptsy stakes POS coins.

Things that make you go hmmm... this has been brought up several times and yes there is a plan for this

Excellent. I'm glad to hear that. I really think it would get a lot of new people interested in XC. It seems like once a week a topic gets high voted in r/bitcoin about coin mixing/coinshuffle/anonymity

Enjoy your weekend off  Smiley

your not the only one... while I moved a good amount off MP, I still had some and the balance was off on mp v2....

There's still a decent chance you'll get (some of) your coins back:

"MintPal as an exchange is sticking around, and will be up within the next day or so in order to enable people to withdraw coins ahead of key changes to the platform" - Moolah post today.
Pretty sure mp will let people withdraw in a couple of days but getting people to deposit again is a different story. They need Victor Frankenstein to get some life back into there exchange

MP is finished. If I was leading the MP development team I would shut it down and secretly start up another exchange with the same old reliable trading engine and a different UI.

Could we please stop taunting the NSA and the SEC?  It's becoming a huge liability issue for multiple investors.  It doesn't help anyone.

Do you ever stop complaining? Zzzzzzzz.

There's also a lot going on behind the scenes, and the roadmap looks insanely hardcore. But you'll all have to stay posted for now, as we're not in a position to release any news yet.

For now, suffice to say that you can expect a mix of linear developments and complete surprises. ;-)

Exciting Smiley

Excellent. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, i liked the old layout, and the mintleaf logo etc. why didn't they keep it as it was?

Also, I thought the reason for the buyout was because everyone lost faith after those coins were stolen. Are people really gonna trust these clowns more than the old owners? they seem clueless to me.

It's gonna be a long time before I even think about using it which is a shame because it was my favorite exchange before.

Yup. I couldn't have said it better.

They took over from a bad situation and have pretty much run the remaining reputation of Mintpal straight into the ground LOL.

Their only hope is the zero trading fees enticing people to use it.
748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos on: October 06, 2014, 09:02:59 PM
Mintpal's new layout looks like somebody puked and that came out.

I preferred the old layout

Me too.

I don't like all the dollar signs in green circles at the top.

Old layout and theme was cleaner.

You can tell this is all being handled by a new team.

People who say you can't slow down emission because it looks like a scam... well in a few years 99% of all the currency will be emitted, how will that look like to newcomers (a scam?)

The instamine period is all relative. Even 4 years will look like an instamine in the context of 50 years.

Honestly, we need to ban people from this topic who consistently troll or try to promote other coins.
752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: October 2014 - another NXT hack, forged coins are being accepted now on: October 02, 2014, 08:56:24 PM
I'm confused since the difference is > 3M.  Regardless, that seems to just be the top 1000 accounts so all it would mean is that the coins moved up into the top 1000.  Or do you have any actual information that there is some hack?

You do know that NXT was never supposed to go past 1 billion coins, right?  There's more than 1 billion now.

Someone is creating forged coins that is being accepted and they are cashing them out.

Or the graph on that site is bugged.

I wonder...
753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: October 2014 - another NXT hack, forged coins are being accepted now on: October 02, 2014, 08:44:05 PM
http://charts.nxtcrypto.org/cDistributionTopAccount.aspx

Total supply of NXT was 999,997,096 and now it's 1.003 billion

Somebody found a way to create more NXT (600,000 NXT) and have it accepted by the system.   NXT is no longer finite but now has Doge inflation until the hacker is caught and stopped.

Sure you don't mean 6,000 not 600,000?

It's getting hairy on there. Arlyn, may want to get on and do some damage control in response to the closed source and scam replies.

Youll never make any progress on that Redditt while ur closed source......plain and simple

I saw a DRK topic do well on there.

Interesting question but really thats how REV1 worked, REV2's trustless system doesn't allow a node to hold coins and "disappear" - since its an atomic transaction, so if the node drops off in the middle of the TX, then the TX fails and is banned.. Rogue/Bad nodes can't steal coins

Understood. I knew you got the mixing working so it's trustless but I wasn't sure on the details of it.

Thanks Mr_Random. Nice one. Onto it...

P.S. Nodes received the whole transaction, not just the coins. They either sign the whole thing (thereby agreeing to forward coins) or opt out. There's no possibility of stealing.

Cheers.

I'll make a note of what you post on Reddit for future reference.

There is a topic about Coinshuffle on the front page of Reddit r/bitcoin, please upvote this XC post: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2hy9n5/presenting_coinshuffle_trustless_peertopeer/ckxfq1p
Synechist I posted your explanation of XCurrency (http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2hy9n5/presenting_coinshuffle_trustless_peertopeer/ckxhc9q?context=3) and someone asked me:

"I haven't quite grasped the scenario of 'what happens if a node that receives coins to mix just drops off the face of the Earth', what happens to those coins? How do you work around this?
Side note: you should also consider building in a timeout setting, such that a node involved in mixing cannot hold coins for more than X seconds or Y coins or Z transactions (or some combination); else, they could sit there collecting as many coins as possible and then walking off with them - unless there's some other mitigation to this already?
In short, how do you mitigate against rogue nodes? Yes you have mentioned something about kicking bad nodes out, but what's to prevent a rogue node from just re-spawning under a different ID?"

Can you give me a response to give them or post there directly?

I have an idea that is going to be very risky for XC, but since the price of Bitcoin is dropping like domino's right now, how about the XC team requests XC to be removed from all Bitcoin exchanges and a month later puts up it's own XC/Fiat exchange, that way we will be completely independent from Bitcoin.

XC is decentralised by it's nature. No exchange is under obligation to honour such a removal request, it would never work.

Besides, I don't believe that would make XC completely independent of Bitcoin. If Bitcoin crashed to $1, XC would plummet no matter what.
