821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos on: September 01, 2014, 08:10:04 PM

i keep tabs on coindesk and cointelegraph for all my news. coindesk is certainly larger and has more readers though

So after much hard work XC has moved from pumpcoin, to dumpcoin, to a coin with credibility, to a coin that gets original articles on major crypto news sites.

Next: more original articles on major crypto sites... and then some on major tech blogs.

Onwards and upwards!

P.S. Now you know where I've been lately. That, and having general gadget breakdown.

Great work!

Updates once or twice a week is good enough for me personally.  Smiley

I always thought the daily update would be difficult to sustain in the long run.

while i agree with this.  to declare that updates will be given daily, and then not do it, is just a form (albeit minor) of over-promising and under-delivering.

updates once a week are fine.  updates daily are fine.  but whatever they say they are going to do, do it.

To be fair, the updates were pretty much daily for a long while. Recently the frequency of the updates have slipped. I guess Arlyn will comment further, perhaps he can change the title to just XC Update and give them as and when the XC team have information to share.

Dan was on vacation and is now back at work.

Not sure about Arlyn.

I agree the volume is low but the good news it it shows how little buying pressure is needed to maintain the current price range. When we get our next pump it will take us sky high. Now is the waiting game and in the meantime please promote XC wherever you can.
825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitsharesX will go UP or DOWN? on: August 30, 2014, 07:40:36 PM
I say down. It's gone up a lot already and the market cap is massive.

The next 6 months will be constant selling pressure from early whales cashing out. Basically a repeat of what we saw with NXT (not recently, more the trend since it launched in January),
826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 29, 2014, 09:27:26 PM
Do tell how a rich list would work in an untraceable currency?

That said, you have ~1.3% of current supply. I'd argue whale.

Touche. I figured that may well be the case but I wasn't sure if it was a case of being very difficult or actually impossible.

My random friend, you are most definitely a whale.

And yes, everyone here sees it going 60+. You'd be insane to buy something like XMR if you didn't think it had HUGE upside in case of success.

I should probably post in the XMR topics more often. But I advertise XMR in my sig everywhere which has to help.

What's surprised me about XMR is that it's proving to be more than a pump and dump. I attribute this to a continual flow of new investors due to word of mouth spreading.

Here's to the future  Smiley
827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 29, 2014, 08:27:44 PM
Is there a rich list for XMR?

I obtained about 40k back when this coin was still young, I'm curious if that makes me an XMR whale or a small fish.

Does anyone see this coin going back to 60+ price?
828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reality check on alts on: August 29, 2014, 08:24:06 PM
alts with..

any premine even 0.01%

any instamine (ninja launch, or instamine settings)

zero post devs

All = potential scams, which is what most are.

There are a few dev teams that just keep launching coins, pumping and dumping their premines and instamines and starting new coins. This will kill nearly all alts eventually.

This board is the main jumping point for these scammers to get a foot hold. The alt section here has now practically killed any chance of people taking alt coins seriously.

Take away these dev teams premines and instamine pots of coins and you will see a huge reduction in the amount of coins released. That little 1% premine they keep dumping is all they need to keep pumping this crap out daily. Let's reduce it to 0% and see if they're so motivated.

If devs premine AT ALL = all coins should be held by escrow and released to the devs over time for continued suppport and development.

Instamine settings switched off fully.

Some alts have a future but many will not.

There is room for more than just BTC.

You can't know then that Bitcoin was instamined for months by Satoshi. He was 75% of the network hash at times.

A coin is claiming to have POBC
(some picture)

Wow nice draw but between a draw and the coding there is a huge work to do , technically i dont know if that will work like this. And for your information a good anon coin is going to rollback from RC4 to RC3 after month of coding and testing...

I'm sure that Dan have think of all the future behavoir of this code before working for nothing , just my 2 cents.

Really? I didn't know that.

Highlights further what an amazing job the XC dev is doing with the encrypted chat and privacy transactions.

Librex is claiming to have PoBC (proof of blockchian)   Angry

It's just a poster.

Haven't people been burned by enough scam coins in the last 2 months that promise amazing tech and then don't deliver?

And even if the coin has a legit developer (very unlikely), implementing that takes time. And if the dev isn't a top programmer he will screw up the implementation (see the various coins trying to do anon tech and failing for example).

I'll wait for our team to implement it thanks.
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos on: August 26, 2014, 11:25:10 AM
like i said yesterday, we are back to old price (140-150).. and everyone are talking about uptrend, but i we are at same level almost few months, so where is uptrend?? here is no uptrend, and it sucks.. after few more months we will be at the same price, and then everyone again will say "this coin is very young, only 5-6 months old, it need time and bla bla bla". rev3 will be realeased in autumn, and price level will be the same like now.. Im holder of this coin, but i cant understand how the price isnt climbing up at least, slow and steady..

We were stuck in the 80-100 range a couple of months back.

Since then major alts like DOGE, LTC, PPC, NXT, DRK have ALL fallen considerably in price from their peak. BTC has also been pretty bearish, dropping 20% recently.

XC has held it's value well in the current climate. I'm frustrated too at the lack of price growth but you have to look around at the rest of the market, it's pretty harsh out there. We have a top dev and team working here that has produced amazing things and with plenty more to come, I am just being patient and continuing to accumulate when I can.

This coin is so different. I don't see any coin with this much dev skill and promise at this low market cap. All it takes is for word to spread and a couple of whales to get on board and the price will rocket. In the meantime, enjoy the updates.

Also, rather than complain, what are you doing to help the coin? If everyone who complained actually got off their ass and helped with the project, think where we would be. It doesn't have to be much, just spreading the word helps.
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [EMUNIE] We are not dead, just busy building megacool stuff *teasers inside* on: August 25, 2014, 09:36:04 PM
I feel for the people who invested money in 2013 and were told the project would be launched in jan 2014.

Dan keeps referring to that fund raiser as "small" yet didn't it raise more than 1000 BTC worth of funds over btc/ltc/bankwire?

If I was you Dan I would take a big chunk of Emu for yourself, IPO off some of the rest and make sure you do the original investors right.

There has been full transparency in the launch shedule and anyone who felt "cheated" were offered a 100% return of their investment or keep their investments in the project. Their investment has not vanished. They have chosen themselves to still be part of the project - even though it has been postponed alot (lets be honest).

The initial IPO did not reach 1000.

Does it really matter how much was fundraised?

As I remarked Dan keeps referring to it as "small", when actually it was a considerable amount of money. I have heard the bank wires/cash transfers alone are > $100k. And unless people I know are mistaken, the total raised is over or very close to 1000BTC.

Quite frankly I don't give a flying duck how much is fund raised, it just piques my interest Dan has an agenda of downplaying the contribution of the initial investors, when in fact they raised him a shit ton of money and paid his wages for a year.

Noone had a reason to complain because their money was taken. Whoever wanted it back, even after the theft, got it back pretty fast.

No idea why you are talking about the theft, I haven't even mentioned it.

So if someone thought, this all takes to long he got the money back and could invest in whatever shitcoin.

Not really. The deadline was pushed back again and again, with promises it was coming soon. Suddenly now Dan rewrites history and says in Jan there was a dramatic change in direction as if he made people aware the project would be delayed a year.

The way the theft was handled was the fairest thing I have seen ever in the crypto world. I mean, noone could have really done anything, when Dan would have vanished BEFORE the theft. Noone could have done much either when he would have said "Sorry, but the money is gone". So the fact, THAT he paid back funds worth hundreds of BTC is a good prove that he is serious about the whole project (its one of many proves, but lets stick to the subject here).

I'm not questioning if he is serious about the project. Again, I have no idea why you're bringing up something else irrelevant to my post.

That said, how do you actually know Dan has paid for the loss out of his pocket? If everyone wanted their BTC back, how do we know the end amount wouldn't be 450 BTC short? We don't. It seems a surefire bet that the Emunie market cap will rise a good amount on launch so if he keeps quiet and pretends to have covered the loss, no-one will ever know. I stress that is speculation and hypothetical. But in this community I trust nobody.

Finally: If the dev of a great project/idea, that finally gets succesful and maybe even changes the world of economy, gets a piece of the cake, whats wrong about it? Dan works on this for almost two years now, from his own funds. As a good businessman, of course he takes a chunk, just like everyone else who makes an investment.

Now I'm starting to think you have issues reading/comprehending. Nowhere do I object to Dan making a good profit. I even said he should take a big chunk of Emu for himself. I certainly would.

It will be interesting to see how this one pans out.

What is Sunnyking working on these days?

Does he have a new coin in the works? Or any exciting updates to Peercoin/Primecoin?

835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darkcoin - Will it rise again? on: August 25, 2014, 05:48:33 PM
I think a second pump to match the last one is going to be much more difficult.

What drove the first pump was the excitement of Darksend, masternodes etc.

Since then we've had a wave of anon coins hit the scene, like XC with it's xnodes.

I saw a topic on reddit about anon coins and XC wasn't mentioned! So I added a post (I am blackcoinprophet).

The topic is number 3 on the front page or r/cryptocurrency

Thank god i sold my portion before the drop.
What drop are you talking about?

I think he was talking about his pants because XC didn't drop  Grin
I guess.

I have a question.
Somebody told me that XC isn't anonymous, because you can track it, but with Monero you can't track it, can somebody explain the facts to me?

An earlier version of XC which didn't use the multi path tech was subject to a pattern matching analysis by Chaeplin which he said broke the privacy. This was controversial because it was unclear and led to much arguing. Technically the privacy wasn't broken imo.

When version 2 of XC came out with multi path, that pattern matching no longer worked and no-one has cracked XC.

I believe when XC reaches version 3 there will be a bounty issued to prove that the the privacy is strong.

Other things such as IP obfuscation, stealth addresses so you can receive payments to your "real" address without the sender knowing and more is on the way.

Synechist, one of the XC team, would probably answer this 100 times more eloquently than me, but that should give you a picture.

Ok interesting.
So here's another tech questions:
If nodes are on a mix slow/unreliable internet connections and fast/reliable internet --
1) Will this tech be able to weed out the slow connections and bypass them for a more reliable connection
2) Will this tech somehow compensate for the slow connections?

I think it will take time to get all of this 100% right.

For something this ambitious and revolutionary we should be happy to get a working proof of concept up and running and then slowly improve it over time until it's perfect.
