hey xmr peepz, been a while since i was around. saw a new update. i have all my xmr on a piece of paper, ie my old seed from the last version ago.

is it safe to upgrade my existing install & can i still sweep my old xmr's on paper since the number of words has changed? (Meaning will --restore-deterministic-wallet still work with wallets created on the older version? Just can't afford to lose a lot of xmr/money ya know, i'm in long myself, so i don't care about todays' price to be honest)!

Thanks, this is one of my fave threads, but it's so large i have to keep coming back and i can't keep up! Sad

Here's what I would do, when you need to spend funds.

1. Restore your wallet from the mnemonic seed using the old version you already have installed.

2. Upgrade to most recent Monero version.

3. When you open your wallet for the first time, it will detect it is from an older format and will provide a NEW list of seed words for your wallet.

After a few short hours 15 Shares remain of NLQI @ 1M each, who will take them?
Going once...

As wealth advisor for Haridimous (aka GreekBitcoin) - I would like to purchase 5 shares on his behalf.

Riddick will purchase 4 shares.

Lord Saddam will take the remaining 6 shares, in case his own quarrying corp fails to produce Smiley

Monero guys, please add Monero as an answer to "Which recent developments do you think will have the biggest impact on the BTC landscape in 2015"

Lord Saddam and young Riddick (12,036 gold total) support Dame Roopatra, her help has been instrumental in establishing our presence in the Kingdom.

Lord Paulson also gets our support, he has demonstrated some mastery in game mechanics and sophistication with his El Bulli Restaurant.

I will nominate some others I think are worthy but first I will leave some time up for discussion while others can nominate themselves if interested  Cheesy

Any idea how to build a BitPay for Monero? Payero?

It's not so simple.
You need quite alot, like:

- Monero database have to be finished and tested first.
- It's required to have a dedicated server at the first place.
- Nice domain name.
- A good skills to program something unique and nice
- Nice, but simple design
- A bit of marketing to make it alive...

and so on.

Not to mention a MSB license for dealing with fiat currency.

In the near term, hopefully Shapeshift.io will begin Monero support soon. They said they were going to when I emailed them about a month ago but I haven't followed up yet.

767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Withdrawal Concerns at Poloniex on: December 11, 2014, 05:20:39 AM
tokeweed you should also know that poloniex paid back all the users that lost BTC in the hack, they are on the up and up. occasionally they do have problems but they always fix them fast as far as i have noticed.
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mozilla removed BTC from Donation Form on: December 11, 2014, 05:12:48 AM
I think the underlying problem is all the bullshit regulations they have to go through to accept donations, like having to collect information. people that use bitcoin don't want to type in their names, they just want to send it. i would have donated with bitcoin but i tried and hit the back button after seeing that i had to enter my information.

769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mozilla removed BTC from Donation Form on: December 11, 2014, 01:31:53 AM
Why can't they just post a BTC address and say "donate here"? No clicks necessary.

Could it be that they don't want to make their donations public?

Well, we can keep talking about the price or we can do something about it. Perhaps the price looks "dead" but I have never seen development so alive. As you can see with some recent unexpected price surges like CLAM, all a coin needs is for someone to have a good reason to use it. There are many speculators here with deep pockets, but the smart ones will only wait for lower prices to buy.

If you believe in Monero, right now it costs *nothing* to join the top XMR yielding game in the world - Crypto Kingdom. Yes, it only lives on databases right now but a "GUI" is underway. In game assets ("Gold") are at an all time low price (87,000 moneritos/CKG).

My characters currently make at least 8 XMR per diem in total with very minimal work on my part! Other players have done nothing and amassed 185+ XMR (of in-game value) with no effort.

One can assume that although the developers do not intend this, in the future someone will create an aftermarket for selling in-game CKG and moneritos for actual XMR. So by playing now, you are earning real money by just having fun and playing a game. It is in your best interest to join now while the game is progressing at 2 years per real day.  Shocked

If anyone wants to join the game, but maybe they don't have the time to learn all the rules - I am offering a character management service. I will advise on getting your player started and in the game for a small fee. Please PM me if interested.

Friends and valued citizens, I come bearing an update on the technical development of the online iteration of our glorious world.

Our work has focused on the correct development of the main city screen, which is coming along nicely. It is currently scrollable (yay!) with the worldmap having been successfully imported into the database and cleaned up.

For those interested, our technology stack is based on an HTML5 / JavaScript driven front-end, a NodeJS middle tier with Redis as an in-memory storage area, and a backend based on Cassandra (a highly scalable database that is nearly like an RDBMS in its featureset).

Forces willing, I hope to deliver an update on a regular basis. If I am captured and forced to fight my way out of a dangerous area there may be a slight delay in regular updates whilst I single-handedly slay the dark forces that are set on me.

Thank you for the update!! Any chance of a screenshot sneak peek?

Dear Sirs,

How am i able to join this adventure? i would love to be part of it, but dont know how to start, since there are no more gold auctions.
who can sell me some gold and how much do i need to join the game ?

a kindly thank you

Greetings, I believe the minimum gold to start playing the game is still 1,000. You can buy Gold directly from the King's coinshop - current sell price is 87,000 moneritos/CKG, so 87 XMR will get you 1000 gold. 1 XMR = 1,000,000 moneritos which is the ingame currency.

The King himself is very busy, so myself and Bishop David Latapie are handling the collection of XMR payments.

If you wish to buy some gold, please PM me and I will give you a payment ID to use for deposits.

You can also join the IRC chat for more instant discussion ##crypto-kingdom @ freenode

775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 08, 2014, 11:12:54 PM
rpietila speculate a bit about the near future. Not that you are the best price predictor Tongue but i would like to see what you do think. What the rest of you guys think?

I personally think that we are around the bottom. Maybe we have already seen it or it may be at 0.001.
However we dont have that great support right now. So while under 0.001 for me seems difficult it is far from unlikely.

I am seeing a few new members that seem to have joined and hashrate is going up for some reason.
Finally all time low ever for monero is 0.0002 when people traded OTC.

With some good news or a new service or a tiny marketing campaign or fail of competition coin i think 0.001 is secured.

P.S. Previous time i wrote in the forum that i dont see the coin going under a certain price it was 0.003  Tongue

I think the advent of CryptoKingdom will help XMR, it is a very addicting and fun game. It does take some effort and a little time to figure out the rules. Even my cat Riddick makes 1 XMR per day in the game and he does nothing but chase birds around, eat, and sleep.

I'm a Mac user and I don't have easy access to a Linux or Windows machine right now. What options do I have to dig up my CLAMS?

I'm pretty sure there's a https://www.virtualbox.org/ distro for Mac. Just create a quick Ubuntu VM and off you go Smiley

Actually I used just-dice.

In the chatbox enter /dig <ADDRESS> <PRIVKEY> and the CLAMS will deposit straight to your JD account. Nice free money to be had Smiley

Visiting family
I will visit my family that I did not see for half an year. They told me they have internet issues, which should affect negatively my ability to process deposits. Until the 17th of December, please PM both me and saddam. We will PM each other for taking care of synchronisation and avoiding double-spending or the opposite, zero-spending.
¨

Please, do ABSOLUTELY NEVER PM BOTH DAVID AND SADDAM.

THEIR DEPOSIT SERVICES ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AND HAVE NO RELATION OR CORRESPONDENCE WITH EACH OTHER.

If you deposit to saddam's address and payment id, then saddam is responsible of the funds for me.

If you deposit to David's address (as was the only option until very recently), saddam (or me) have nothing to do with it and can do NOTHING in case David is late or having issues.

Needless to say, it is much preferable to use Saddam's service, for which you need a new address and payment id from him.

Funds sent to the original address are only handled by David, and the late entries to T_MON will accompany a refund of the overdraft charge as usual.

I am not doing anything related to deposits (anymore) so asking me is futile and will not be answered. Smiley

If anyone wishes to use my payment services, the info is below. Please PM me in advance for your payment ID. Once issued, it will always remain the same.

I should also mention that Bishop David has upgraded to a new workflow and his processing services move quite fast now!

1. As a middle-class NPC visiting town for a few weeks' stay related to a building project, make the following areas in the preference order of stay (in a **-*** star accommodation, meaning that if other parameters are equal, you'd choose them in this order):

1. Jousting Ground
2. King's Park
3. Center
4. New East - Culture Square
5. The Village

2. As yourself, which is now your favorite place to eat (select 1 or more, your votepower will be divided accordingly):

- new Lucky Lion Restaurant $$$$ / Smiley / 60% / Centre-Lucky Lion
- new El Bulli $$$$$$ / ? / 140% lux / King's Park
- Noble Palace (members only) $$$$$ / Smiley Smiley / 190% / West Centre

3. How would you like to conduct your shopping?

I prefer shopping at the The Old Department Store as it is closest to my establishments and there are less crowds than at the Lucky Lion.
