761  Other / Meta / Re: Signature campaign as a creation of bitcointalk on: November 03, 2023, 01:34:16 PM
Even 99bitcoins said a similar thing.
That's even a recent article on that website. I guess we're going to have a surge of new registrations going forward because of that. I hope they come, learn and contribute too, not completely have that belief of earning alone.

Quote
So, apart from here in bitcointalk, has any other forum or website adopted the signature campaign system of advertisement?
But of course, I don't think there's any. Otherwise, the site would've been mentioned there. BTT is unique in this sense and I believe that's why we've the type of advert traffic there is here.

So I'm not sure this forum is the first, but I'm sure the rates are the most expensive.
Would you mind naming them if you think there are any as OP has asked for such sites. I'm sure OP is asking for such sites paying for signature campaigns with Bitcoin, not with some random shitcoins.

764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin WhitePaper At 15th Years Anniversary on: October 31, 2023, 08:20:57 PM
A decade and a half of tremendous goodness, indeed! The rate at which Bitcoin developed is really astonishing to the point that one would think it was created some three decades or more ago. Satoshi, (whoever that dude is (are), deserves a mention as one of the most influential people of this century.

Yes, I know the aim of the P2P angle to Bitcoin as captured on the document's first page is valued less than the asset part of it today. I guess the latter part is even what has drawn more people to Bitcoin than the payment option and P2P part. All the same, it's still a win-win for Bitcoin and we celebrate Satoshi for all that.
765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The zeal to invest in speculative asset on: October 31, 2023, 12:52:19 PM
Cryptocurrency on it's own is a solid long-term investment...
Nah, I don't believe that because it isn't true. If you talk of Bitcoin and a few alts with utilities, I will say that's true. This shouldn't be taken on face value across board for there are cryptos which aren't meant to be held longer than necessary. They will turn worthless in one's hand and one will be bagholding till God knows when.

Come to think of it OP, anything and everything that has to do with business and investment should be viewed as speculative in nature. There's no certainty to where price will go to or how that business will turn out in a few days from its startup or creation. It isn't a crypto thing alone.
766  Other / Meta / Re: How Was This User Able to Buy 550 Merits At ones? on: October 31, 2023, 09:10:03 AM
Very simple, since his earned merit is only 50 merits, it means the rest (500 merits) are airdropped before the merit system. So, he was lying if he bought all the 550 merits at once.

I doubt if he bought the 50 merits, it high likely an alt accounts.

He was a Hero member and then delete all of his posts, so he back become a newbie rank.
This best explains what happened. What I don't get is why the need for the lie? Was it to lead anyone on his trail on a wild goose chase, seeing that the thread wasn't an old confession thread of yesteryears.

Besides whom do you think would accept to sell his account at a very cheap price whereby if they succeeded working into signature they could earn higher than that so anyone giving attention to that thread could likely get scammed by them.
They did sell that way in the past but that was when account sales wasn't a heinous crime and signature campaigns weren't that much a thing. Anyone quoting those prices now for account sales is not likely to commit to the agreement. Newbies should keep off threads like that.
767  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help this time with a personal situation on: October 31, 2023, 08:22:12 AM
Hello, I live in Cuba and I am 28 years old, a few days ago I made a post asking for advice on cloud mining, I see that it is a scam no matter how you look at it, so here my monthly salary is about 3,500 Cuban pesos, which is equivalent to 12 dollars approximately, therefore I would like someone to please advise me on a page where I could work without investments, such as a faucet that is worth it or something that allows me to generate $2 a day because per month it would be almost $60 and as you can see that exceeds by far my salary in my country and it would help me a lot.
Faucets will burn your data as you'll intermittently be on the internet to claim and this can eat into your meagre salary. Did you say $12 as salary? I'm trying to imagine how that works. I didn't know Cuba isn't that fantastic with her GDP (or what is it economists call it, again?). Faucet isn't a good place for you as it's now. By the way, if you're used to $12 as salary; don't you think $2 daily will be aiming too high? I know there's nothing bad in being ambitious but there has to be machinery in place to achieve that, right? $1 daily profit could be a good place to aim. However, I think the best part for you should be this forum. Try and be more active and contribute nice posts so you can rank up and get into campaigns to earn. Once you start earning, it will amaze you how you will surpass all that daily earning target of yours. I think as a Full Member who will have the ability to earn as much as $40 weekly in a signature campaign.
768  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A bad practice that cost a friend everything. on: October 31, 2023, 07:59:14 AM
...then I stumbled on his recovery seed been screenshot, that was when I knew he messed up.
That's it! I think it's laziness that makes people do that. Laziness of copying it out. They rather be on the fast lane and screenshot it. This same thing happened yesterday while I was trying to set up a wallet for someone I advised to buy and hodl for the bull rally. The dude made a screenshot of his passphrase and I condemned that wallet. I always advise people not to be hasty when it comes to anything finance, whether online or offline. It's this hastiness that scammers rely on to hit their targets. Extra five minutes for writing the PP out wouldn't have killed your friend and his funds would've been intact.

Quote
This is new to me, but let's take this serious, some stupid crypto wallets still allow taking screenshots, it's wrong, this should be a RED FLAG when installing a crypto wallet on your phone, and as for you and everyone it's a stupid idea to take screenshot of your recovery seed.
Well, I don't know if the screenshot thing is enabled from start before the wallet is properly set up but I know there's an option to enable or disable that on a few of the wallets I've used. Away from the screenshots of PP, what about for tutorials to show the point of what one is doing as a guide to mentee so they can easily follow up? I don't think the blame should be on the use of screenshot on wallet apps (I like having it), we should blame the user who administered it wrongly. Like they say, before you blame the hawk for wickedness you must first scold the mother hen for exposing her chicks to danger.
769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP airdrop incoming for the Uphold users on: October 31, 2023, 06:00:59 AM
What are your thoughts and reactions about this one guys? Would love to hear it from the community. Thanks!
Frankly, I'm nonchalant about XRP; even from its days of Ripple. I feel that XRP is hyped for nothing. As far back in 2017, the way it got do many backings from various institutions one would think it would fly over the roof by now. So disappointing. I know many will argue that the court cases with SEC delayed its growth but I don't think so. What happened after it got a favourable judgment? Did it fly? No.

Come to think of it, what's the worth of 20,000 XRP in dollar? Almost nothing, that it should even trigger interest.
770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk predicts X will replace banks in 2024 - The Verge on: October 31, 2023, 04:25:44 AM
Unrealistic and I have lost hope on Elon's commitment especially after all these doge and shibainu drama...
You think Elon hasn't done enough on those? Come on, cut him some slacks. Just take a look at what the ATHs of those two are. Look at where they came from to that point they got to. Not so many people gave Doge a chance until Elon's influence on it became manifest. What about Shib, look at how many zeroes it took off. Yes, I agree he talks too much but we can't say he talks like the late anti-virus dude, John McAfee. Elon is ambitious and who knows he might get what he wishes and works hard towards. I may not agree with all he says but I give it to him that he's an influence in whatever field he dabbles in.
771  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giveaway Scam On the Rise on: October 30, 2023, 08:29:49 PM
I found a very real looking tweet of Elon Musk promising a party to users and a link under the tweet. Such tweet, when not looked into, one may think Elon tweeted it.
When I joined this industry newly I used to wonder why whales wouldn't send coins to random wallets or do giveaway until I realized that's not how those in this industry behalf. Even when I read tweets supposedly from Vitalik Buterin, the Ethereum creator, I still won't blink an eye. I've got to that point now where I don't believe random strangers can make anyone rich online.

The sad truth is that only greedy people will be enticed to participate and expect a giveaway mirage to be true. If anyone gets scammed participating in any giveaway, I don't waste my time consoling them. They brought it on themselves.
772  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: please help me? on: October 30, 2023, 08:01:05 PM
thanks for all of your replies. Very much.

I’m in china mainland so I can not visit this forum as easy as you.

Also I don’t have access to the binance.

Ok
Suddenly, after a month of opening your accusation you came back from nowhere. So, you still expect people to be interested like they did before and waste their precious time again showing interest in something that doesn't truly seem to interest you? Who knows, the next time you show up on this case maybe in December. Quit wasting our time.

I do. Tell us his name here, I'll invite him to give his side of story or defense, we'll get a better picture of what happened, and if he's proven to be harmful and a damage was made, he can be tagged and flagged so no other victim will fall into the same situation.
I hope your patience will last you more than a month to get all that you ask OP for?
773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The possibility of another bitcoin hardfork. on: October 30, 2023, 06:58:49 PM
are they really going to risk dividing again while theynwill not benefit from it?
the hardfork will once again fall same as Bitcoin Cash where only few will use and then blackrock aill just be giving away free money. if they are willing to do that then Bitcoiners are ready to spend it.
I ain't sure BlackRock will lose anything if a Bitcoin fork happens again like it did in 2017 that birthed Bitcoincash. It was a 1:1 for those who were hodling Bitcoin then. So, in the event of that again, it's going to be extra coins and money for any person hodling Bitcoin.

~
The possibility of this seems very hard and come to think it, right from on set Bitcoin has been staying strong and there might not be anything of such even in the next 30 years.
Well, we can't hazard a guess on how long such an event can stay before occuring again. Fork was a thing in 2017 to the point that I felt it was going to be a regular occurrence. It hasn't been. Maybe, that frenzy has died off until now.

I can tell you for free that OP isn't a genuine newbie. That's an alt.
775  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can it be real bull or just a temptation. on: October 30, 2023, 10:02:36 AM
Even if it's not the "real" bull, I still believe it's a bullish momentum. Just take a look at what we've got left of this calendar year and into the halving year and you'll realize how close we're already to that moment. The bull spirit is blowing everywhere now. Anyone still dillydallying on buying to hodl will soon be in regrets. I don't see Bitcoin hitting anything below $20k this year any more. We can have price correction and retracement, no doubt, but I don't see that causing any scare. One can safely say we are in a bull run.
776  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Make a Quality Posts in the Forum on: October 29, 2023, 08:08:22 PM
So what you have to do is to look for the particular board your subject terms or course terms are frequently in used and make comments there always, and when you have topics to create based on the discussion you involved in then you can do that to see you strength.
That's why I advise anyone new here who's without the basic knowledge of Bitcoin to start with the Off-Topic and Politics sections. At least, there must be something that will get their attention there. That was where I started too until I was able to step over them to venture into the mainstream Bitcoin related discussions.

As for making quality posts, I think that's relative. It's relative in the sense that what makes for quality posts to Mr A may not be so to Mr B. However, I dare say that no one can give what they don't have. People write the way they know best. The person whose posts you think are not constructive may have written their best, which may seem not to be best enough. That's life.
777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New way to keep your seed phrase secure. on: October 29, 2023, 05:28:56 PM
~snipped~
I think it's better to be that way rather than least prioritizing the wallet security. They aren't targeted by the hackers but there are some random malwares out there that are set-up by those small fish hackers which target are those newbies or those who has weak security. My friend was hacked because of a malware and the funds where not that big but the hacker didn't spare him.
This is why people are advised against opening random links or using their main wallets for airdrops. Malware don't just run on their own if they aren't activated through clicking or am I wrong on this? If people can set up their wallets offline and not go online on it, they should also be fine on that and away from malware.

I doubt that he has millions stored, which are hunted by both hackers on the Internet and robbers offline.
That's even the sad reality. Most of these people getting paranoid about wallet security are not likely to have up to $100 worth in Bitcoin, yet they get conscious of security. I ain't saying they shouldn't. It's just that they should tone it down a bit.

Quote
There is an expression that if you want to hide a thing well, put it in a visible place. You don’t have to follow the instructions in detail, but let there be a mind without paranoid tendencies.
You didn't lie on this. Imagine keeping sheets where passphrases and other seemingly meaningless scribbled words are jotted down in the kitchen or tucked somewhere in a store and not in briefcases, burglars won't even bother to look in there. Even if they do, they won't think anything of it and will miss it.
779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Moment of truth on: October 28, 2023, 02:44:50 PM

1. what helped you blend into this space?
...
Let me itemize your questions in my response –
Number one – It was curiosity that drove me to this place. I didn't hear of this forum from anyone. I never knew there was even anything like it in existence until Google search brought me here. Reading from veteran and knowledgeable members here has been a rewarding and refreshing learning exercise for me.
Number two – It has been a bumpy ride, near misses and a touch of greed over riding my decisions to pull out until it got late. I learnt profit made isn't yours until it has been withdrawn into private wallet. I've been a victim of this.
Number three – Newbies should learn the process, research everything that catches their attention without taking the words said about them on the surface. Don't just believe anything until you've searched them out.
Number four – Nah! Not at all.
780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New way to keep your seed phrase secure. on: October 28, 2023, 12:42:23 PM
OP, until you eventually end up hiding it even from yourself; you won't understand the logic of always keeping it simple. At one time, when I allowed myself to be swept by the paranoia of wallet security, I almost got locked out of a certain wallet. I swept certain words off their positions by interchanging them. I think I took first three words and replaced them with the last three sets but then forgot which came first later. Though it was just a bit of coins in that wallet but I sweated when I couldn't get in back. By stroke of luck I was able to regain the words after several attempts. This day, I just write them out in the simple form. What's gonna be it's gonna be. If you seek wallet security like it's a vault in a central bank, remember that there could arise a situation that may likely alter your access to the wallet outside your control. Ill health and dementia, death and war are all there, just to mention but four.
