781  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Today marks 9 years since the death of Bitcoin first pioneer Hal Finney on: August 29, 2023, 06:48:38 PM
I could have sworn that Hal Finney was still a forum member at the time I registered and account, but that is false cause I did not have an account here 9 years ago.

I probably wrongly recall the incident with the hacked account and the lots of discussions it drew.

He was great asset to Bitcoin and bitcoiners and is one of the main reasons we have a btcoin network today which is functional, a step that changed the course of history.
782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question on Governemnt's Sales of Seized Bitcoins on: August 29, 2023, 06:41:56 PM
They likely start at the current Bitcoin price.
No they cannot start such an auction at the current price cause no one is going to go over it then when they can simply go to an exchange and make their purchase.
783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No Electric Supply to Bitcoin Mining Operations in Laos on: August 28, 2023, 09:08:04 PM
We hope the drought eases off very soon and things can return to some degree of normalcy. There are more important things than allowing a miner to take electricity that have been used to help the general public and the miner only get a reward from it.

I can hardly fault the decision of the government to prioritize necessities over mining. There are thousands of other miners around the world and the void will be filled easily
784  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am a newcomer here please help and guide. on: August 27, 2023, 03:44:04 PM
If you can create this post then you are understanding a bit about the forum already and making some progress. It takes a while to get used to how the forum functions for someone not used to forums at all.

The help section at the top icons helps a lot to get one familiar with forum features and other basic pointers they will need, also use the search option and you will be good to go for a start here.

Follow the other links provided here and take your time to get used to o everything.
785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Not your keys, not your coins", What's the threshold before it fails? on: August 27, 2023, 02:54:52 PM
How much of the total supply must be under the control of a Cabal before we could consider that Bitcoin has failed?
100%.
As long as you have your Bitcoin safely in your wallet and you own the keys to that wallet then you will have no issues how the other bitcoins are spread.
No one is going to sink billions of dollars to own majority of Bitcoins available and then destroy it.

Worse case scenario is that privacy becomes difficult to maintain cause decentralized exchanges become more and more obsolete as they lose even more customers to centralized options. This will limit privacy trading options to the barest minimum.
786  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why We Are Still So Damn Early With Bitcoin .. on: August 26, 2023, 05:18:38 PM
I'm fully in agreement that we are still early and majority of people have not yet gotten on the Bitcoin train yet. But we already have come a long way and should not expect the kind of growth we got when Bitcoin was starting up from zero and looking for some sort of value.
Over the next 5, 10 and 15 years Bitcoin will grow tremendously but I read no where as near as what we had over the last 10-15 years and that's normal.

think of what the value of Bitcoin would by the time it becomes 50 years old , 100 years old, 200 years old and even more with a limited supply of 21 million coins?
Majority of users here can look towards the next 50 years but not beyond that and they will want to get return on their investment while they are still alive.
How high can it go within that timeframe?
787  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Careless Trading on: August 26, 2023, 05:03:19 PM
For obvious reasons you cannot make a topic bold and that is evident since the tags cannot be automatically added to the topic text and you have to do it manually.

It is carelessness to trade without a plan as the financial market is too risky.
No one should take any financial decision without a plan.
788  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginners must be needed Local /language sector. on: August 26, 2023, 04:16:35 PM
Besides the language benefit, local boards being people who live in the same reality together.
Users not from the West may be a bit disengaged from the central theme of discussions here particular in relation to economics, with so much emphasis on SEC regulations or the FED cutting down interest rates, all of which does nh directly reflect their reality.

Having a local group with people from your side of the world helps you directly discuss how Bitcoin affects and impacts you and you can help each other grasp the concept better.
One who understands English language fairly can do without it, but it helps to get one acquainted faster.
789  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Could the goverment behind failed binance card partnership with Mastercard? on: August 26, 2023, 04:09:49 PM
The reason for the break in relationship could be due to the current legal battles Binance is facing with the SEC. MasterCard might want none of that and would want to dissociate their brand as quickly as possible from it.
It's something we see everyday, especially from brands that depends hugely on trust and reputation to not want anything that will cause users to question their integrity.

MasterCard are still in partnership with some other crypto exchanges.

What are your thoughts about this and could this have a major effect?
On the general crypto market? No, I don't expect any significant effect on it.
790  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin holder are not maximizing the bitcoin potential on: August 25, 2023, 09:18:23 PM
The Bitcoin market can undergo price fluctuations of around 3 to 4 times in a single day, which offers ample opportunities for those who choose to engage in active trading.
And also presents lots of risk cause it makes the price very unpredictable.

By delving into trading strategies, it's plausible to generate a daily income ranging from $20 to $30, provided one has a sound grasp of the market dynamics.
Sound grasp of market dynamics does not guarantee any form of profits and does not protect from losses either.
791  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 600 USDT - ERC20 on: August 24, 2023, 08:10:23 PM
[What Can i offert at collateral ?
The equivalent of the loan amount in another currency besides the one you're asking for.
In this case you will need to provide $600 worth of any currency the lender accepts.
792  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How dose Bitcoin relate to telecommunication? on: August 24, 2023, 08:08:36 PM
The channel of transfer is the blockchain and Bitcoin transaction is basically the transfer of information (data) acorss publicly available addresses. This data is verified and stored by nodes who ensure the authenticity of any data shared.

What sort of correlation are you looking for between Bitcoin and telecommunication?
793  Other / Meta / Re: cryptofrka's Merit Source application - gambling boards on: August 24, 2023, 08:04:51 PM
I do not frequent the gambling board but along with the altcoin discussion section it is one of those boards that require merit sources and more motivation for users to make quality posts. There are lots of spam posts there but that's same with every other board and there are also great posts there which mostly goes unmerited, which further discouraged quality posters.

Cryptofrka is a regular in that board and a good choice for a merit source to encourage the quality posters there.

Now we wait for the raffle draw by theymos and hope to make the cut.
794  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 600 USDT - ERC20 on: August 24, 2023, 07:57:59 PM
Hi to everyone who's reading this, i hate asking help for money, but i really need those 600 USDT so i discovered this forum, and created an account.
This is not a lending platform and not one you should be looking for if you're in need of a loan.

I saw that newbies have no trust here (legit), but i'm in a dire need to loan 600 USDT, so if someone could help me, that will really be so awesome, if someone can trust me.
You are not going to get any trust or any money except your offer a collateral.
795  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: .0043 bitcoin loan defaulted by [Devawnm367] on: August 23, 2023, 05:30:33 PM
<snip>
I do not think people change, I just think they hide wo they really are very well over the Internet. I have seen a couple of cases where a user farms trust for months or even years before making away with a significant loan amount. This indicates that to have been their initial motive for creating an account on the forum.

This from all indication does not look like that. But it matter much what it looks like or how I perceive it, another lender suffers yet another loss frustrating such well meaning users and demotivating others who want to join in.
Going strictly with collateral based loans seems like a good direction to take in the face of all the possible indication of losses.
796  Other / Meta / Re: Decoupling message IDs from topic IDs (SMF patch) on: August 23, 2023, 03:22:15 PM
I'm not exactly certain what the patch does even after reading the thread twice and don't know the problem it is trying to solve, but if it helps make the work of TryNinja and LoyceV easier then I am all down for it.

Good job yet again PowerGlove.
797  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: .0043 bitcoin loan defaulted by [Devawnm367] on: August 23, 2023, 03:16:12 PM
Sorry for your loss.

I've not interacted enough with the user to be able to make any sort of judgement on them but they have had a history of successfully repaid like and before this.
I hope you can recover from the loss and it doesn't affect your service going forward.

I can't speak for all of them but I believe that this kind of people are after the quick bucks instead of long-term money especially in this forum, we just have to understand that not everyone likes to post in a forum about stuff related to the theme of the forum everytime.
They wouldn't hang around for close to four years and make over a thousand posts if they planned to make away with just over a hundred bucks.
798  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful with your identity documents and KYC on: August 23, 2023, 02:42:19 PM
This is not even possible. The reality of the world in which we live right now is that you must submit your KYC document or service , access will be denied you. Even if there are businesses that may not require KYC, they are like just 1%.
They are more than 1% and considering the thousands of services available only a handful of them is needed for us to fulfill all the requirements we need.
If you do enough research you will find out alternative services which does not require you to dox yourself

verify  whatever company you are submitting your documents to before you go ahead to do it.
A company can be as reputable as possible but your documents can still be compromised after you submit it to them and you cannot verify the process involved in the handling of the documents after it is submitted.
799  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Current scare affect the decision making of starters. on: August 23, 2023, 12:09:07 PM
Can't blame starters to get scared about the current condition of bitcoin since no one like to see how the market move in negative direction
Lower prices are like bonuses for anyone looking to buy, so any starter who gets in when the price is low or dropping is quite lucky cause they can get some bitcoins fo less dollar bills. Everytime is a good time to buy if the asset is a good one, but buying the dip is far more beneficial in the long run.

Getting in when prices are low also indicates that you're not solely influenced by the price or fomo around it. Such people are more likely to make a better decision than others.

Edit; this is my post number 5000  Grin
Been an amazing short chat with you all.

Avoid giving out your personal documents and personal data because it can be used to steal all your money.
Avoid giving out personal information cause it can be used in a thousand and one ways against you and once that information is public you can never regain privacy.
You should consider any email address, password, name age and personal details you've submitted to any website to be compromised cause there is a huge black market for such information.

Do not rely on your Banks to do extra checks or on the exchange to be more careful with who the allow to register an account.
