801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you ever feel tired of waiting? on: October 16, 2023, 04:52:02 PM
waiting's not even the hardest part of investing in the cryptocurrency world, let alone bitcoin. I don't get tired of waiting especially since I time my buys and I don't just hold without a care in the world (not that holding and buying cryptocurrencies now is a bad thing, it's all a matter of preference really.) Waiting for the bull run to arrive is the easiest part of the whole calabash, you don't have to time things, you don't have to wrack your brains out wondering if you've bought enough, you don't need to go back and study shit just to maximize your profit potential. So if you're getting tired of waiting you gotta do something about it, make use of the time you're idly waiting for while bitcoin is gaining momentum.
802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think? Selling all or not on: October 16, 2023, 04:35:12 PM
We know. Just cause people are so excited about the bull run doesn't mean we'd be selling all our bitcoins and cryptocurrencies to cash out on the profits. That's not how it works. These people are talking about the bull run in the context of how much it would pump bitcoin's value and increase the worth of their cryptocurrencies. Sure there will be people who would cash out of the cryptocurrency hype train but that doesn't mean everyone will. That's stupid.

Everyone's going to be holding their bitcoins for dear life once the bull run comes in hopes of actually earning more by biding their time. That's how it has worked out in the past and that's how it will work out now. There won't be any reinventing of the wheel that will happen here.
803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Evolution of Money: From Barter system to Bitcoin on: October 16, 2023, 04:20:05 PM
The concept that the barter system came before currencies have been debunked numerous times in the past. It was known that people back then had hierarchies of relevance and power, and people are compensated well enough for the work that they put in service of that powerful entity. So while barter was used definitely, it was not the progenitor of commerce and economy. It was money that started it all. But I digress, the point of the topic is how things have gone from simplistic trade mechanisms to the very convoluted economic paradigm that we now have. I say it's for the greater good as more complex means more people are able to enjoy its benefits (at least on paper), especially when we consider bitcoin's existence in this entire ensemble.
804  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and others urge AI pause, citing 'risks to society' on: October 16, 2023, 03:37:42 PM
It turns out that lately I very rarely support the decisions and actions of Elon Musk, except, of course, for his space programs. But here Musk is completely right. People must limit the capabilities of artificial intelligence in areas where the decisions made could threaten significant harm to humanity. No matter what anyone says about the usefulness of AI, one wrong or deliberately wrong decision could easily destroy our civilization. It is necessary to draw up general rules for working with AI and to insert into the activity programs for AI a ban on killing or harming a person. This was clearly stated in the first books of the fantasy genre. Such moments are not accidental. Because the past, present and future are closely interconnected with the theoretical ability to penetrate through time in different directions.
I don't want to sound like I solely antagonize Elon Musk's ideas and "genius" (please assume that I use finger air quotes here lol), but he's always had completely bad takes in the past. Even the AI conundrum I can say something about.

For instance, it's not AI that's been causing all this ruckus. It's humans using AI for the most nefarious reasons. Have you seen meme pages across the whole internet using AI models like chatgpt to actuate stupid shit? Just a few weeks ago I saw someone post about bypassing the content blocks of ChatGPT to make it narrate how to create napalm/crystal meth in the jive of an old grandma telling her grandkids some bedtime stories. You can't blame AI for that matter since it's not like AI can do this on its own lol.
805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs Ethereum VM to reach its full potential — Web3 exec on: October 15, 2023, 11:57:17 PM
Bitcoin is doing great in it's category — it definitely doesn't have to do everything. You want blockchain-ized RWA? Do it on other chains. Bitcoin's job is to just be simple(send and receive BTC) and just be secure and decentralized as hell, without any unnecessary bloat that could bring in problems.
These people want bitcoin to become the pinnacle of stores-of-value in the investment category, hence why they are pushing for more scalable opportunities cause on its own bitcoin doesn't need to really employ anybody's help as you said. But we gotta be realistic in here and see that bitcoin, great as a payment system as it is, still needs to get that little bit of innovation every now and then for it to really flourish. Investment's what made it popular after all so it just makes sense for people to seek more opportunities for it to become more accessible.
806  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance's Growing Legal Troubles: Are They Facing a Crisis? on: October 15, 2023, 11:42:20 PM
While concerning, I don't think Binance is on a hot bed right now, especially when you consider the fact that BNB isn't even a security. SEC is pretty much throwing whatever they can to undermine the cryptocurrency scene in the US in favor of their CBDC, which is arguably inferior and less enticing than the superior cryptocurrency system that we have built for over a decade. Binance is going to weather the storm and gain traction once again the US. and if it couldn't, it's not going to be much of a problem, especially now that the US economy is on the shitbox so they can't really provide as much financial upturn for Binance. China is the name of the game now, as well as other neighboring countries, should we see changes in the outlook of China towards crypto, we can pretty much disregard this whole SEC conundrum altogether.
807  Economy / Economics / Re: Are short-term rentals to blame for the lack of housing? on: October 15, 2023, 11:16:37 PM
Yep apparently so.

Airbnbs have thrown the housing system off the bus. Imagine buying a property, only for it to not be occupied 10 months of the year, that's 10 whole months that your money is not moving, and you're not letting anyone occupy the house. It's stupid and the system needs to change. This is literally the reason why Airbnbs will never replace the hotel economy. At the very least with hotels they are established enough that they don't need to worry about losing money, with Airbnbs, the same can't be said. We're undergoing a housing crisis and it's for sure going to affect these people, by the end of it they'll be selling these properties for cheap and most likely, it's not going to be granted to those who really need it. What a fucked-up world we're living in right now.
808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If not for Bitcoin on: October 15, 2023, 10:55:37 PM
Which is why apart from being a day trader, I also make sure that I have sufficient bitcoin holdings to keep me safe during rainy seasons. It's bad enough that the market can just go under whenever it so pleases, so having a consistent and surefire earning asset like bitcoin in your portfolio takes the stress off of you cause now, you're pretty much aware and at ease knowing that come rain or shine, you'll earn money from bitcoin. I'm just hoping it continues to serve people for longer cause I want everyone in the crypto industry from now until say, 20 years in the future to at least experience what it was like getting bitcoins for the first time and expecting to earn shitloads of money. It's one of the greatest feelings out there.
809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Robert Kennedy Jr. Promises to End White House War on Bitcoin on: October 15, 2023, 10:44:56 PM
I don't know really. Promises have been made in the past, we even heard shit from Biden that we're pretty much excited about only to fail miserably when he sat in the president's chair at the oval office. Robert Kennedy could fall under the same case. Someone making ludicrous promises not knowing just how limited the power of a president is, and then failing to keep their end of the bargain when things go sour. I also don't think he's going to win despite the fact that we don't really have much strong candidates this time around on the account of Biden being a senile old man, and Trump literally behind bars. But there's still that glimmer of hope that we're looking forward to.
810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Changed the game you gamble on? share your story. on: October 14, 2023, 11:12:24 PM
The fear of trying new things will render most of us here playing the same game for years now. The same could be said for me honestly. Been on the same 3-game rotation for years now and I don't really see any reason why I should stop cause I've grown accustomed to these games so much that I can confidently say I know the ins and outs already, I've discovered my playstyle in these games as well and it would be a grand shame if I ditch it for a breath of fresh air.

Comfort is not a good thing for many, but since I'm here to have fun anyway, I might as well make sure I stick to the tricks that I know, instead of exploring and discovering only to end up with disappointments and regrets later down the line.
811  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Casino Crypto gambling on: October 14, 2023, 10:52:18 PM
As with the others have said, it all depends on the game you're playing. I used to play a lot of slots back then cause it's linear and it doesn't force me to think, just crank the lever and hope for the best so to speak. From that alone you'd figure out that some games involve skill and some just involve sheer luck.

If you're into skill-based games I would recommend you play games like Poker, Baccarat, Blackjack, or any card game for that matter cause there's strategy that's involved and it could lead to your win or your doom, if you want a more laid-back gambling approach then stick with luck-based games like slots, dices, and hi-lo, these games don't involve as much skill as the rest and they're fast-paced too, so you don't have to wait for the whole game to resolve for you to get your prizes.
812  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An agent is no where to be found. on: October 14, 2023, 10:31:22 PM
That's why I don't trust agents like that. They're a common sight in my country's online and land-based casino scene and more often than not they do more damage than help. A lot of them don't have the integrity to give winners their appropriate prizes even though they're already earning a buttload of money from the referral commissions that they earn from the people. Classic greed mechanics.

In my opinion just stick to what we've been accustomed to my friend, don't reinvent the wheel and risk losing your money and your trust in the casino business. Just play on your own and play on gambling sites with no intermediaries.
813  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Low cost but effective solutions to gambling addiction on: October 13, 2023, 10:27:46 PM
One of the solutions which is recommended by most gamblers on this forum for gambling addiction is "Therapy" . Professional help in the form of therapy. It is good and very effective but how many persons can actually afford it? There is a fee for each session that lasts for a duration of 60minutes. And there are more than one session. Therapy for gambling addiction is expensive. How can those who are unemployed afford it? How about the college student? Or the person receiving minimum wage. What are the other low cost but very effective solutions to gambling addiction. And typically how long will it take before the addict starts to feel more in control and less withdrawal symptoms?
Will totally appreciate your responses. Thanks.
Therapy is still a little expensive especially in countries where mental health is not that taken care of. The cheapest one out there is touching grass. Meet your friends, hang out with your family, take them on a trip or a little walk in the park. If you're far from your friends and families literally just go for a quick walk and take your mind off of the losses you incurred during your gambling spree. That's the cheapest one out there. Therapy can only do so much as it involves you taking the initiative and the effort to do whatever it is that the psychologist is telling you to, touching grass cuts the middleman and actually forces you to actuate what you need to do. Not shitting on psychologists or whatnot, but if you're looking for a cheap solution, go outside.
814  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: October 13, 2023, 10:13:27 PM
First off, gambling is something that's supposed to be done during wee hours and not be done whenever you're busy, not only are you aggravated by the losses you incur from the gambling spree that you're doing during office hours, you're probably also distracted so you're gambling more than you're working, hence the poor work performance. That's why it's seen by many as a pastime in the first place. It's an established fact that you must only do stuff like these whenever you're not busy. In any case I guess it's great that you know by now how important it is to gamble undistracted and to work during work hours lol, perhaps take this time as well to actually get off of gambling and do something else?
815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: October 12, 2023, 10:33:47 PM
I said this once and I'll say it again and again, you can't make a career out of your fucking vices.

Like sure you're probably deluded by poker stars and champions so much that you think you have what it takes to get to their level, but as a dorito-crusted mountain-dew chugging citizen of the internet, you have as much chance getting to the big leagues as getting a free Porsche. And this is not me being mean, I'm just being realistic. The only thing you'll be getting out of your dedicated gambling journey is a buttload of regrets and 6 feet of virtually dug crevice cause you've dug yourself a massive hole from the debts you'd be incurring once you get addicted to gambling. So do yourself a favor, and find something else to make money with.
816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 12, 2023, 10:10:04 PM
While I believe in the saying that "Money reveals Evil" I don't think the guy who's been hiding from his friends are in the wrong here. And I'm not just saying this for the sake of being the devil's advocate or whatever the fuck.

First off, let's set things straight, he won a lot of money, did he win it because of his friends? Did they win it through the power of friendship or whatever the fuck? I don't think so. From that alone you would understand that the winner is in no way liable to give anything to his friends, he's not indebted to them monetarily or whatever, and if he would be generous to give his friends something back, it's all from good will and not because he owes his friends something. You people act like people owe you for your existence or presence when everything's just a matter of circumstance. Everyone who's saying the winner's on the wrong here should get off their high horses cause most likely, if you were in his shoes you'd probably do something even worse lol.
817  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cross addictions is Just as Bad. on: October 12, 2023, 09:43:16 PM
Honestly guys I appreciate the concern that you and your friends have over this addicted friend, but I don't think this is cross-addiction. As a gamer, sometimes when we're stressed from a frustrating gambling session I find myself playing videogames to let off some steam so don't go jumping into conclusions just yet. Spending money on games is just normal, a lot of great titles on most consoles are locked behind a paywall and he's actually getting a great deal here if I do say so myself. He's probably paying for a game pass that gives him a rotation of games monthly for under 20 bucks, when normally he's going to have to spend more than 400 bucks to get as much games as he's playing right now.

Let him be, I know it's a little scary not looking out for a friend especially after something like that happened but I'm assuring you that he's at a good place right now and he's probably on his way to recovery too.
818  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t push playing more on: October 12, 2023, 09:16:22 PM
Been there, tried all the ways I can think of to actually prevent a break even cause it's a little frustrating especially if you've invested long hours on your gambling session only to end up with a pretty much back to square one bankroll, but I found that the only solution to this problem is actually not playing at all. When you play you subject yourself to even more chances for losses which is more likely to happen than you actually getting the chance to win more so you can remove that breakeven.

I suggest you look into gambling for entertainment as well. When you're gambling for fun, these trivial things won't matter to you anymore cause at the end of the day what you're after is getting the most enjoyment out of your gamblnig experience.
819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do you not gamble on women sports? (tennis not included) on: October 12, 2023, 08:58:39 PM
There are a few, but the main reason why not a lot of people gamble in women's sports is because we don't watch it enough to gain confidence in betting for one team over the other. Let's take the NBA for example. In the male's division we pretty much know who's the strongest player and who's lagging behind, we know each team's play style, their advantages against other teams, as well as their differences. We don't really know what's up with the WNBA on the other hand cause we don't watch it often. Not a lot of cable TV offers watching WNBA, stadiums are empty when they play, and a lot of these players are just downright unrecognizable that it doesn't bring money to the NBA federation and they are basically doing this WNBA thing so they don't get cancelled.
820  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If we lose in gambling, what do we need to do? on: October 11, 2023, 11:30:24 PM
Touch grass.

When I lose considerably, I lean in more to things that would distract me from the loss rather than put my mind more into the stress of losing so much money in the process. A lot of times I go out of the house and go for a quick jog, or I visit friends and family members to do a quick catch up with them and hang out. Hoping to get back what you lost when you're already in a state where you're not in the best head space is going to incur you more losses, so just do yourself a favor and recuperate and recover, take time to reflect and enjoy the outdoors and don't go looking at your phone or your gambling account's remaining balance cause that's just going to cause you more stress in the process.
