821  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: October 13, 2023, 10:13:27 PM
First off, gambling is something that's supposed to be done during wee hours and not be done whenever you're busy, not only are you aggravated by the losses you incur from the gambling spree that you're doing during office hours, you're probably also distracted so you're gambling more than you're working, hence the poor work performance. That's why it's seen by many as a pastime in the first place. It's an established fact that you must only do stuff like these whenever you're not busy. In any case I guess it's great that you know by now how important it is to gamble undistracted and to work during work hours lol, perhaps take this time as well to actually get off of gambling and do something else?
822  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: October 12, 2023, 10:33:47 PM
I said this once and I'll say it again and again, you can't make a career out of your fucking vices.

Like sure you're probably deluded by poker stars and champions so much that you think you have what it takes to get to their level, but as a dorito-crusted mountain-dew chugging citizen of the internet, you have as much chance getting to the big leagues as getting a free Porsche. And this is not me being mean, I'm just being realistic. The only thing you'll be getting out of your dedicated gambling journey is a buttload of regrets and 6 feet of virtually dug crevice cause you've dug yourself a massive hole from the debts you'd be incurring once you get addicted to gambling. So do yourself a favor, and find something else to make money with.
823  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 12, 2023, 10:10:04 PM
While I believe in the saying that "Money reveals Evil" I don't think the guy who's been hiding from his friends are in the wrong here. And I'm not just saying this for the sake of being the devil's advocate or whatever the fuck.

First off, let's set things straight, he won a lot of money, did he win it because of his friends? Did they win it through the power of friendship or whatever the fuck? I don't think so. From that alone you would understand that the winner is in no way liable to give anything to his friends, he's not indebted to them monetarily or whatever, and if he would be generous to give his friends something back, it's all from good will and not because he owes his friends something. You people act like people owe you for your existence or presence when everything's just a matter of circumstance. Everyone who's saying the winner's on the wrong here should get off their high horses cause most likely, if you were in his shoes you'd probably do something even worse lol.
824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cross addictions is Just as Bad. on: October 12, 2023, 09:43:16 PM
Honestly guys I appreciate the concern that you and your friends have over this addicted friend, but I don't think this is cross-addiction. As a gamer, sometimes when we're stressed from a frustrating gambling session I find myself playing videogames to let off some steam so don't go jumping into conclusions just yet. Spending money on games is just normal, a lot of great titles on most consoles are locked behind a paywall and he's actually getting a great deal here if I do say so myself. He's probably paying for a game pass that gives him a rotation of games monthly for under 20 bucks, when normally he's going to have to spend more than 400 bucks to get as much games as he's playing right now.

Let him be, I know it's a little scary not looking out for a friend especially after something like that happened but I'm assuring you that he's at a good place right now and he's probably on his way to recovery too.
825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t push playing more on: October 12, 2023, 09:16:22 PM
Been there, tried all the ways I can think of to actually prevent a break even cause it's a little frustrating especially if you've invested long hours on your gambling session only to end up with a pretty much back to square one bankroll, but I found that the only solution to this problem is actually not playing at all. When you play you subject yourself to even more chances for losses which is more likely to happen than you actually getting the chance to win more so you can remove that breakeven.

I suggest you look into gambling for entertainment as well. When you're gambling for fun, these trivial things won't matter to you anymore cause at the end of the day what you're after is getting the most enjoyment out of your gamblnig experience.
826  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do you not gamble on women sports? (tennis not included) on: October 12, 2023, 08:58:39 PM
There are a few, but the main reason why not a lot of people gamble in women's sports is because we don't watch it enough to gain confidence in betting for one team over the other. Let's take the NBA for example. In the male's division we pretty much know who's the strongest player and who's lagging behind, we know each team's play style, their advantages against other teams, as well as their differences. We don't really know what's up with the WNBA on the other hand cause we don't watch it often. Not a lot of cable TV offers watching WNBA, stadiums are empty when they play, and a lot of these players are just downright unrecognizable that it doesn't bring money to the NBA federation and they are basically doing this WNBA thing so they don't get cancelled.
827  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If we lose in gambling, what do we need to do? on: October 11, 2023, 11:30:24 PM
Touch grass.

When I lose considerably, I lean in more to things that would distract me from the loss rather than put my mind more into the stress of losing so much money in the process. A lot of times I go out of the house and go for a quick jog, or I visit friends and family members to do a quick catch up with them and hang out. Hoping to get back what you lost when you're already in a state where you're not in the best head space is going to incur you more losses, so just do yourself a favor and recuperate and recover, take time to reflect and enjoy the outdoors and don't go looking at your phone or your gambling account's remaining balance cause that's just going to cause you more stress in the process.
828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not keeping records makes me a bad gambler? on: October 11, 2023, 10:39:42 PM
Yes and no. You don't necessarily have to track every wins, losses, or draws for you to be considered a good gambler. You don't need to track every single dime you spend on your gambling spree. All of these works towards tracking your gambling expenses anyway, so some people just cut the middleman and track how much they are spending and forming a budget around that spend habit with the intention of even lowering it in the future. You don't need to do all these convoluted bs just to be considered a good player or a responsible gambler for that matter. What you would need to do is to actually act upon the discipline that you want to instill upon yourself and only by then will you actually see results.
829  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a strategy to lose on: October 11, 2023, 10:19:19 PM
While there's some truth in your statement and I know that there are some people out there that are doing this to maximize their "luck," I don't think this is the reason the majority rest does this. Everyone of us here who's a responsible gambler bets and plays games on a tight budget, as someone who's playing on a limited bankroll, will you stick to playing just one game, or would you do whatever you can in your power to maximize your enjoyment and bankroll which is to play different games?

I play a lot of games when I gamble and it's not because I want to be able to win at least on one of those games. I just want to have fun and sometimes sticking to one game isn't going to cut it. The idea that a player gambles on many games to earn more profits is a notion that's rooted in the thought that everyone gambles here for profit, which is simply untrue.
830  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: October 09, 2023, 05:12:34 PM
Could be then possibility. Electric cars are becoming more and more accepted into the roads and parkings now  Wink than ever before making it look like the car industry is already at a massive paradigm shift. There’s equal chances and reasons for the electric car world to both fail or flourish. It all bouls down to the fact that all it really takes is a single push at an oppprtune moment during this altercation, and we might see better days in the energy and fuel sector.
831  Economy / Economics / Re: What would you do in this situation? Invest or save? on: October 09, 2023, 04:38:46 PM
I say you do both and divide the assets into appropriately-sized portions depending on your risk appetite and how well you’re able to win investments. 60/40 in favor pf saving money if you’re someone who’s a little too scared to invest still in the world of cryptocurrencies or any form of asset for that matter, and then just tweak that depending on ur preferences. In cases like these I don’t really suggest pushing for a one option only route since it shuts you off to the benefit of the other when you can easily take in both and maximize your profit potentialby a large margin. False dichotomies like these stunt your growth as a crypto investor, you should onow that by now.
832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin accumulation at all time high on: October 09, 2023, 04:16:57 PM
Everything’s a sign of a coming bull run when you’re expecting a bull run. Could it be that it’s the other way around and these people are buying this much bitcoin in a small spam of time so they could prepare and not necessarily cause the bull run to happen?

It could be anything. It could be the sign of the second coming of jesus christ at this point. Thing is we have to be very specific., signs are only signs if they signify something that is to come without any confusion and doubts over it. We’re not even sure if the bull run’s really going to come next year cause we don’t really have much going for us except the halving. Best to silently prepare instead of evangelically proclaiming shit.
833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can change lives on: October 09, 2023, 04:04:18 PM
While it’s great and all that you’re urging the new generation to invest in the world of cryptocurrencies. It’s not really advisable to put bitcoin onto some pedestal as if it can never do weong and it would only give you benefits and blessings, there’s major risks that come with investing in the cryptocurrency world let alone bitcoin. If you get into this industry with the mindset of only ever earning money without making yourself aware of what the real dangers of bitcoin investment could bring, you’re sure to lose money, and your sanity in the process. So take precaution when tellinvpeople about bitcoin, make sure that you know what you’re talking about.
834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want to fulfill my mother's dream of building a house with Bitcoin. on: October 09, 2023, 03:40:07 PM
Your story’s not so farfetched. Years ago someone had the same idea as you had and just earlier this year he was able to fully-fund a house purchase only using bitcoin. If someone was avle to do it in the past, that’s not ridiculous in my book.

Thing is that it didn’t just took that guy discipline and proper investment strategies to get to where he got now, It also took him dedication to learn new ways to make money in the cryptocurrency world besides conventional means like buy low sell high and holding.
835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In Case of Global Conflict, Is BTC The Best Alternative? on: October 09, 2023, 03:25:36 PM
It could but at the same time there has to be a catch. The biggest of which is to ensure that bitcoin and the internet remains usable even after large global warfare and the catastrophic damage that it would ensue.bitcoin is great and all, we could use it for commerce during times of crisis but it has to be connected to the internet first before you can even hipe of getting access and some usage to it. I reclon that during wars this will be a really tricky issue since we’re all busy making sure we don’t die while the rest of the world burns to the ground. But should we figure out a sustainable way to retain our lives and sanity even during heavy global turmoil like global wars and stuff, economy will come next in the hierarchy of importance and at the same time bitcoin might just be the perfect currency there is
836  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advice to friend for financial improvement. on: October 08, 2023, 11:57:37 PM
Back then I also used to scoff at people who pay for stuff like these and not use that money to invest and earn dividends, until I realize that my opinion was unsolicited, and I probably look like a pompous asshole to them by making it as if my decisions are right and what they do is wrong. When I got the money to buy stuff I want I also acted a little lavish, I spend and spend knowing that I'd gain the money back anyway, what's to say that these people who have the capabilities to buy an iPhone 15 or whatever, aren't able to do the same thing that I could investment-wise?

That's when I realize I should keep things to myself and just focus on my shit until my opinion is asked. Most of the time I'd even be thanked for the great suggestion, instead of shoving my ideas into their faces when they didn't ask for it in the first place.
837  Economy / Economics / Re: Do we truly need cbdc when bitcoin already exist? on: October 08, 2023, 10:26:39 PM
that is true, we actually don't need CBDCs. however, for the sake of adoption from the government sector, they need to push thru this route.
well, it won't harm the crypto market as they have different purpose to serve. and also, i highly believe that it can pave the way of more crypto adoption as these users will uncover the true benefits of dealing with other cryptocurrencies when compared to the government-controlled CBDC.
Right now the adoption of CBDCs is voluntary, however you can be sure that if a crisis comes that puts fiat currencies at risk then it will become mandatory to use CBDCs, and that is when things can get really bad, as the amount of control governments will have over the whole economy and each individual will be simply too much, but ironically this could lead people to finally appreciate the characteristics of bitcoin as a currency.
Whatever crisis that may be, unless it's the dwindling of resources used to create greenbacks I don't think CBDCs will be exempted to it. Plus it's going to cause a massive public outcry if they decide to push CBDCs so bad, so they're forced to be in this delicate balance of making sure that the fiat maximalists are appeased, as they push for digital currencies to be used more often. Mandatory use of CBDCs wouldn't happen in most countries as that would bar indigenous people and marginalized communities from ever getting into the economy, and that's going to stir a lot of trouble which I'm pretty sure the government doesn't want. So they'll be very careful here, and I'm pretty positive that greenbacks will continue to exist even as CBDCs take the whole economy.
838  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Getting paid on gambling accounts on: October 07, 2023, 11:26:16 PM
I get paid on my gambling account either, so far I didn't get tempted to use it for anything other than personal gain. It's not the problem of the casino, it's most likely a personal issue about your self-control and all that stuff that causes you to unnecessarily spend money for gambling, even your signature campaign winnings.

Honestly I don't think it's a problem either. Money that we get here isn't that much for many, and unless you're in a pinch and/or living in a third world country it wouldn't particularly last you a while. Anywho, long as you don't spend money you can't afford to lose, it's all good. Otherwise you have to look into your spending habits and perhaps perform some budgeting and reframing so you don't spend uncontrollably.
839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best Practices for Staying Safe When Gambling on: October 06, 2023, 10:51:31 PM
The issues most people have is that they don’t know when to stop. I have numerously seen people win a lot of money and still lose everything the same moment. I think setting a winning limit is very crucial. However, you mustn’t reach that limit to be content. So in case you’re reading this, my advice is that if you set a winning limit of let’s say $100, it’s okay to stop at $80.
Setting win limits is a very important task among gamblers. Some gamblers continue their gambling activities even after receiving more winnings or bigger wins. They themselves do not know what is their purpose and there is no end to their wants. What happens with such gamblers is that they can acquire more money in a short period of time but fail to keep it. If they continue betting like this for a long time they will soon lose all their money. Just as you have to control yourself in gambling, you have to set a limit on your gambling profit or loss so that you  don't lose everything.
I can't stress how beneficial setting win limits is in making sure I keep as much of my wins as I could. I've played with loss limits before and while it has allowed me to cut my losses and prevent any more unnecessary losses in funds, it didn't really give me the satisfaction of having more money than I had put in that win limits provided. Now, I use both of these concepts and this had allowed me to stay afloat not only funds-wise, but also in the sense that I don't have to worry about getting addicted to gambling anymore, since these limiters act as my buffer to keep me from falling off the deep end.

If it's something that you haven't tried yet, I suggest you look into it as it's really beneficial, it's like hitting all three birds with a two stones which I don't know how it works but it does so yeah lol.
840  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Provable fairness should be mandated by law! ONLY gamble in provably fair casino on: October 06, 2023, 10:06:24 PM
I think there's some major cause for concern regarding casinos who do not employ provably fair games in their roster or those who actively does not include these games in their gallery of gambles. But at the same time, I don't think there's enough reason for you guys to persecute casinos who do these. The thing is that casinos never said they were fair, there's the house edge even that gives them players an idea of what they were really getting into before they gamble, so they can still step back without having to worry about the fact that they already gave the casino their money. They have all the rights in the world to not include provably fair games in their roster, and we have the freedom to not choose casinos like them. It's all give and take really.
