841  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: December 26, 2014, 05:15:19 AM
Been kinda curious: is there a datasheet available on the rockerbox ASIC With details on pinout, protocol etc?

I'm a habitual tinkerer and enjoy hobbyist level electronics tinkering. On occasion I'll set myself a challenge, most recently it was to design as simplistic as possible single board computer around the atmel sama5d4 series mpu (not quite hobbyist level, and still working on it)

Well curiosity has me desiring to, if possible and permissible by spond-tech, design a board for the rockerbox.

And yes I know I may get people asking why when it won't roi, or saying it's been done already( technobit RB DICE)

I'm asking because I want to better my skill set and deepen my knowledge of electronics design, nothing more.
Contact support@ and we'll release the DS after signing an NDA.
We won't be able to support your project.

As much as I like the sp20 it would be too noisy in his office.

The noise doesn't have to be an issue. See my thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=897053.msg9931911#msg9931911

843  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: December 26, 2014, 12:22:36 AM
Anyone know if I'll run into any issues with SP20 setup?  It will be on a 10.10.90.x network, but the computer I will be using to access that network will be on a 192.168.1.x network.  My IT guy has my miners on a different network than our main one, to keep some stuff off limits. I can typically just type in the ip address of my dragons, s3, etc and get to their interfaces.

It looks like the SP has a different web gui to do that.
You'll need to get the miner's IP manually (not through myminer.io) and then you'll be able to access the miner web UI

bla bla bla
Thank you for bumping the thread. Please post your opinion in the reviews thread as well.
Dogie salvaged the "Spam" thread from Trash to Meta. You're welcome to post there as well.
845  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [GUIDE] B's Moderated Biased & Opinionated Miner Sellers Trustworthiness Guide on: December 25, 2014, 11:45:32 PM
That way he can click the moderator button and cull that thread instead of this one.

Wait, dogie has moderator powers? Am I understanding this right?

So, he's deleting posts he doesn't like then leaving negative feedback on whoever he likes for posting?

He's neg-rep'd me already for pointing out his errors, it better not be him who's deleting my posts as well........ Angry
No, he is just excessively (and obsessively) using "Report to Moderator".
Three of my posts were deleted recently, I believe all of them were reported by him. All of them innocent.

Edit:
If you have (a lot...) of free time, you'll enjoy the following thread:

@TECSHARE, thank you for the review (thread was locked, so I replied here)
847  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [***Legendary GroupBuy***] SP20 - most efficient miner - ~0.5W/GH - 2 units min! on: December 25, 2014, 05:00:55 PM
I wonder how long this GB will last. Has SP-Tech mentioned this?
Look at the counter in the first page.
848  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [***Legendary GroupBuy***] SP20 - most efficient miner - ~0.5W/GH - 2 units min! on: December 25, 2014, 04:22:51 AM
If we paid Roadstress we won't be contacted now to finish it?  We just go to the website and complete our order?

If it was me I would follow the same steps as the first 200, pay the tiny fee to Roadstress, PM him, then order on Spondoolies website.
Yes, this is the best course of action.
If you already paid the tiny reservation fee and PM RoadStress, no need to wait for the email from us which will arrive later today.

I am in for one unit

Do you ship from Europe the miner?
Please read the OP. Minimum 2 units.
We ship to Europe

Ouch.
I've mostly come to terms with it, other than when my wife reminds me that I should have saved it and sold it at $1200. At least it wasn't a BTC10k pizza. Smiley
Well, my wife is upset that I didn't buy at $0.5 back in 2011
852  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Spondoolies SP20E Jackson review by 2GOOD on: December 24, 2014, 11:06:34 PM
This is the review that made me get a couple of SP20-s. Thanks 2G
Indeed, one of the best reviews.

Agreed. I was on the fence between SP20 with the Gb and the S5 and this was one of the swaying reviews that drove me to ST.
Smart choice  Grin

854  Other / Meta / Re: Spondoolies Spam on: December 24, 2014, 10:47:17 PM
I don't mind unlocking my thread, I primarily did it as a courtesy to Con and the forum. Discussion of the reviews hasn't transferred over to the main thread as I'd hoped though.

I'm pretty mixed on the whole thing. I don't think there needs to be 13 review threads in addition to all the others, and I am a little worried that it does set a bad precedent. On the other hand, while a lot of reviews were pretty similar, there were a good number that put a lot of effort into their and gave some good data; often more in depth in terms of things like efficiency curves than is available elsewhere. As a whole they did add value to the forum and are not just pointless spam like a lot of the sig campaign garbage.
If there was an elegant way to merge them I'd support that, but I can't think of a way to do it without it becoming a nightmare to read and follow.
Very nicely put and exactly what I've meant.
We don't want to spam Hardware. Yes, for few days, hardware was flooded with reviews.
Few days afterwards,  only the intersting stuff remains.

Dogie pressed the panic button too fast. My guess is that BitmainTech got nervous due to the immenet S5 launch.
They didn't want the SP20 reviews to spoil their (inferior IMHO  Wink) product launch.
The moderators are being used and doesn't exercise enough judgment here (I'm referring to posts that got reported and deleted in those threads)

Edit: We're at inherent disadvantage here. BitmainTech is paying a lot for ads and we don't.
Edit2: MrTeal, can you unlock your thread?
855  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Closed] Legendaries review party of Spondoolies-Tech's SP20 on: December 24, 2014, 10:37:21 PM
I understand but these should really have all been collated here as it ends up being advertising for spondoolies on the forum that costs spondoolies but did not actually pay the forum. Unfortunately there is no merge function in this forum software which would be the ideal solution. Out of respect for the legendaries I've forgone the locking for now, but can I urge the reviewers themselves to lock their threads and refer back to this one once they have completed whatever they have to say instead then?

Interesting. Does Dogie have to pay for his 30 or so threads where he posts ads inside his guides circumventing the paid ads here in the forums?

Or say the 10 or so Technobit threads?

Consistency?

Have they been urged to collate their threads into a single one?

What about Antminer threads?

So true.

Alright, than I formally apologize for my misunderstanding. I still think you should advertise it as the all-in price, but it's my fault for not reading that line or really clarifying whether it was a deposit or a fee on top of the purchase price.

No problem. Will try to make it more obvious next GB.
Smiley Thanks. I might have just been in a bad mood; I was installing QT on a fresh machine today for my active wallet so I got to watch my BTC total rise and rise until I decided it was time to cash out my $10k worth of Bitcoin a little over 2 years ago to pay off a car since it had just surged up to $14 each. Makes me grumpy every time that happens. Tongue
Ouch.

Update:

Could never get the fan settings to change (SSH didn't work either) but I think I found a better solution by just changing the fan.

First I tried a 1W Noctua fan but it was struggling to keep it cool. The miner had to throttle the hashrate even below 900 GH/s.

Then I tried an old Cooler Master fan I had lying around and found it works perfectly.

Here are my testing results:

As you can see, at ~5 meters away from the miner, you can just barely hear it. Now it sounds like your average desktop PC instead of your average leaf blower.

It's been running stable for 24 hours now at ~1105 GH/s.

More pics:

(sorry for shit quality. Not a photographer)
My previous post was deleted for some reason by a moderator.
It's great to see you were able to tweak and get the db level down.
It's still funny (but unintended!) that you got a miner with bad fan control.

Thought there was 4 days left..
Won't have all btc til the 26th, When is the deadline for paying?

Don't worry.

The moderation guidelines say:
Quote
Topic creation should not be annoying. There should not be too many topics about the same thing in a short time period, and individuals should not post too many topics. "Too many" depends on the quality of the topics.

If an entire page is taken up by Spondoolies reviews, then that's probably too many topics. How this should be handled is more tricky, since I don't want to suppress anyone's honest opinion. We'll see if ckolivas' locking solution is helpful.
I believe those reviews turns out very nicely and a lot of them contains very interesting information and new tweaking.
Yes, few users include some well known haters (not Dogie!) complained and created this thread.
Dogie also complained and kept this thread alive. Some users enjoyed "playing" with him by artificially bumping the threads up.
I don't think locking by moderator is the right solution. Each Legendary may choose to lock his/her own thread.

In the last days, three of my posts were deleted by moderator, probably due to someone complaining.
I urge the moderators to be more careful with censorahip and posts deleting.

Compare to our main competition, we usually have much less threads under hardware main page.
