FWIW, I think commas in numbers are a sign of elegance and structure in a language.

I prefer   $1,000,000.00   to   $1000000.00 (difficult to read)   or   $1 000 000.00 (discontinuous).

Also, in some countries (I think Germany is one of them) the comma and period are reversed, i.e.,   $1.000.000,00

I've never seen that earlier post's Indian style of comma separators before, looks weird, but probably not to them. I've also heard Indians are superior to westerners in manipulating numbers. Srinivasa Ramanujan comes to mind.

Man, this is so off-topic, I must definitely be in WO...

Bitcoin started dumping again, what a great time for a movie recommendation. Watched this Spanish movie on Netflix last night:

Perdida (2018)

A good watch for those who like suspenseful/mystery crime dramas. Recommended.

There's also a sequel to this movie (actually a prequel to the story): Intuition (La Corazonada) (2020), which I haven't watched yet, but looking forward to. I really like Spanish movies, they are definitely way above the average Hollywood mass-produced flick.

Edit: Argentina-Spanish to be exact.

This thread had given me 1/8 of my merits, pretty productive!

Chopper is being dispatched to nearest newbie with merits.

What is this? A pump for elephANTS?

OT: Literally the beanie baby craze of the crypto world. This will all end badly.

https://www.theblockcrypto.com/linked/122884/cryptopunk-worth-850000-sells-for-just-a-fraction-of-its-price

Man, who pays 300 ETH = $1.3M for this crap? Has the world really stooped to this level of retardedness?

Props to xhomerx10 and fillippone! Well played! You guys are born detectives! Have you considered taking it up as a career?

Seriously, if a casual user can do this, just imagine what the secret services, CIA/NSA, etc., can do... Hell, I bet they are even watching me type this right now!

Nice one Arrie.

I have a different stance on the DGB/shitcoin shilling by savetherainforest.

Perhaps he's doing us all a favor. The way I see it, whoever falls for this shit (pun intended), deserves to do so, because they are weak hands, seeking to GRQ at any cost, and are ready to side with the devil and support any crapcoin project as long as it promises to make them rich quickly.

In other words, such shitcoin shilling/traps serve as filters, to separate the men from the boys, which could be a good thing long-term. I'm OK with that.

Edit:

Having said the above, it's always sad to see WOers fall for this crap, but I don't think any WOer has really taken savetherainforest seriously, so it's all good.

Nice little ant-pump BTW.

Take anyone's total earned merits (excluding airdropped and merit source airdropped) and divide by their total posts (not activity), and you get one's average merit per post.

I did mine:

(1903 - 100) / 2206 = 0.817

Larger than what I expected, but what do I know?
850  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 30, 2021, 02:51:49 PM
What happened to savetherainforest?

I can't recall a specific post, and can't be bothered to look for one, but I do remember positive things about him a long time back...

Mindrust event?
Shitcoin GRQ trap?
Tinfoil hat / alien conspiracy influence?
NWO / end-of-days revelation?
Tesla Coil experiment side-effect?

So sad. So pitiful...

It's so easy to be in profit without doing anything at all. Just buy Bitcoin, HoDL, and give it some time. No need to trade (a sure way to lose your sleep and possibly your sanity, along with your coins), no need to mess with shitcoins, no need to constantly check prices & charts. Just one simple, stress-free method that has proven to be a winning strategy time and time again. And yet, people still trade, still bet on the latest shitcoin, still listen to self-proclaimed "crypto-gurus" on YouTube advising them to buy this and that.

Take my shitcoiner cousin, for example. He made a meager 3x of his investment ($6000) since 2017, after years of stressful trading, not in Bitcoin, but in several shitcoins -- he could have easily made 30x if he had bought Bitcoin and HeDL. He has already withdrawn his profits ($12000) to buy some land and a large-screen TV.

Now he has developed a new strategy to become rich: spread his capital (the initial, and remaining $6000) on more than 30 different shitcoins. His idea is that, even if 10% of them heavily pump, he will end up in more profit than simply putting them all on Bitcoin and HoDL. I've warned him that this is probably not going to work out, but he's sure it will. Using all his $6000 to buy BTC at the current price of $63k, when Bitcoin price reaches $100k (and it soon will), he would have about $9500, a healthy extra $3500 in profit. Let's see how his shitcoin-spreading strategy plays out. I hope it works out, but fear it won't.

Christmas will be fun this year.

Believe it or not, I had exactly the same discussion with one of my childhood friends. And the guy was shilling the same 30 coin strategy (did they see the same youtube crypto noob guide or what?  Grin) I tried to persuade him to go all in on BTC but all in vain. "Bitcoin is ancient tech" that's what he said. His idea was that quote "Bitcoin can't go up 10000% anymore but these shitcoins can..."  Grin btw the Sh* coin was among those 30 coins he selected. I asked him how the he choose the shitcoins for his portfolio and he said that he basically just checked the top30 coins on some exchange and bought them all. He had around $5-10k to invest. Let's see how it goes for him. Funny thing is that I told him to buy BTC several times in 2015, 2018 etc etc but he refused. The last time I told him to buy was in 2020 during the Covid dump. So that's typical average Joe reasoning I guess...  Cool

Are we related? This is exactly what my cousin has done, and how he chose his coins! Let's see how this plays out. Funny thing, his son (my nephew) has listened to me and bought $1000 worth of Bitcoin (no shitcoins) -- and intends to HoDL. Will be fun to see the son outperforming the father, with only 1/6 of the initial capital. Hopefully it will be a hard lesson to my cousin, the second he's had since he started his journey in early 2017. Will he ever learn? I fear that this will mark the end of the journey for him. He tripled his capital of $6000, that's not bad, but he could have been 10 times more profitable if he had put everything in Bitcoin. And this will haunt him for the rest of his life. That's why no one should go all-in on shitcoins -- the psychological damage and suffering that will certainly come is not worth the risk -- IMHO.

Good luck to both my cousin and your friend. They're going to need it.

Kraken — S H O C K T O B E R

Read the full report (PDF). Some interesting data analysis in there. Things are looking very bullish for Bitcoin. Can't wait to see where we'll be at the end of the year. 6 digits? Very likely. In 2022? A certainty!

HoDL.

How does it feel to be #homo-raped hard by a thick, veiny, green red dildo?

Now I know.

Only joking, this is ant stuff, noise, jitter. Want to see the real trend? Average out. 52-/208-week MA. Smooth as silk, cool as air. Such dips don't even register.

HoDL.

Have been skimming through WO posts lately, too much happening IRL. I didn't quite get what happened to you, was it a motorcycle accident? Bike thrown in a ditch or what? Anyways, hope you get well soon man, fuck the bike, you can buy 10 of them soon. Stay safe!

LOL, no, got wasted and dropped it on my lawn when I got home last night and pulled my back out picking it up in the dark so left it lying there all night. Smiley

Good to know it was a LOLable thing. Motorcycle accidents can be nasty (I have a Yamaha and I've had a couple of them, still have the bike and keep it in pristine condition). Bitcoiners' bodies are far too precious to risk having them injured by bikes. I find myself using the car much more often lately (it's age-related too, I'm not so young anymore)...

ATH this week, what do you think boys?

Seemingly getting stuck at $63,000 atm. Would love a big, thick, veiny green dildo to take us to $70,000.

#nohomo

I like the sound of that.

Not so fat there CB!

LMAO

Crazy night eh? I feel you as I've been there WAY too many times!
Did you check on your bike yet? Hopefully no lasting scars there.

Spend the day hydrating and it'll all be funny stories by the end of the week.

Pit pat piffy wing wong wang!

(ahh.. I also just figured out what the end of this post meant...  I hope you are OK!  And yeah... some ibuprofen might be in order?)

Spent the day recovering, took an extra Vike and got the bike straightened out, all good now. Smiley

Some Sunday Bitcoin one liners:

-- Don't try to predict. Try to buy instead.
-- Reliable quantitative Bitcoin price predictors do not and cannot exist.
-- The White Paper is the best qualitative Bitcoin price predictor: "It's going up forever, Laura!"
-- Never act on spot price. Always average out. The longer the horizon, the better.
-- Delta_Halving = 4 years. Use your brain.
-- Trading = gambling = rolling a dice. HoDLing = math & science.
-- Bitcoin eliminates middlemen. Don't put someone between you and your coins by loaning them out.
-- Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto.
-- HoDL.

In light of the recent Bitcoin price action, major banking corporations around the world are rebranding. HFSP (formerly HSBC) is leading the way, with several other big players expected to follow suit.

2nd-order underdamped response. Typical.

All we need now is a real pole in the right half of the s-plane, to shoot the price up to +∞.

Math & science.
