Bitcoin is digital cash. It does not need an exchange. We meet (physically or online), I pay you, that's it. No need to register anywhere, no need for me to know your name, or for you to know mine. Perfect for hookers 'n' blow.

A couple of weeks ago I tried to explain to a colleague how to buy Bitcoin from a Bitcoin ATM. He kept asking "where do I need to register?" I kept saying "there's no need to register anywhere, just download a free wallet on your phone." And then he asked "so where do I define my username and password?"

People are used to doing things the fiat/bank way. Most fail to understand that Bitcoin is cash. Just like a $100 dollar bill in your pocket. No need, to register anywhere to use it.

Pump continues. This is it guys, it's happening.

Thanks, that makes sense, we can still do P2P transactions if exchanges stop buying of bitcoin. But, how is the fiat price of bitcoin determined then? If no trading occurs through exchanges, what drives the price of BTC, is it equivalent to anything in fiat if all exchanges stop BTC trading?

Maybe this would lead to a black market type situation, where BTC fiat equivalent price would probably rise due to the difficulty in buying it. I don't think this will happen any time soon though. If anything, Bitcoin seems to be gaining more and more recognition and respect, even from traditional investors. Things are looking good.

Unless there's some sort of deep plan to globally attack/outlaw Bitcoin at some point, which will not be easy and will likely fail.

The reason Doge is up so much is that Roger Ver keeps repeating over and over that Bitcoin transaction costs are too high. So people are moving to Doge to solve that problem.

I think that's what he was getting at.

That was the main reason for LTC. Well that and the 2.5 minute "get this hooker out of my room" feature. That's worth a lot.

Which is fine: BTC is not for paying hookers.

Edit: BTC is doing pretty well again. That little drop into the 20's was just a fire sale by panicked hands. Enjoy!

Nonsense. BTC is perfectly fine for paying hookers, unless you can't last 10 minutes with her. I would expect and demand a full 6 confirmations before I'm done...

God damn, trying to keep up with everything is getting difficult.

The Musk thing is interesting, I remember there was talk from one of the Winklevoss twins mentioning him and also Michael Saylor. Also remember Syalor's conference thingy is on in a few days.

Going to be an interesting year alright.

I expect some more big BTC investors to be born out of that conference.

2021 will be a sweet year for Bitcoin (and WOers).

Edit: WO post parity in 2021! <--- Many WOers @ "fuck you" rich level.

umm.... guys?

Welcome back.

When I saw your post I went to check the BCH and BSV price... But Kraken doesn't list the latter...

Hope all is well.

I have a Malaysian friend who used to say:

"There's good shit, and then there's bad shit."

I think this is good shit.

Edit: $50k in Q1 2021. $100k in 2021. <--- Bearish.

Maybe we're all GME holders and don't know it.

Enter The Matrix.

Is Elon Musk terraforming Mars or what?

What a wonderful time we live in.

Are we rich again?

Is Bitcoin horny?
1492  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 29, 2021, 08:24:01 AM
They don't care about BTC and its success, they only want to generate huge green candles, and they can do that with DOGE. It's a symbolic move for them. Which goes to show that coins like DOGE are like rolling a dice and hoping a GME event will happen to pump it. It's pure luck, and the motivation of holding it is hoping for a mega-pump, then sell and run. They don't give a rat's ass about DOGE.
1493  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 28, 2021, 06:06:53 PM
What fun. /r/wallstreetbets are sorta like us, just A LOT zanier. And way more degenerate.

The Streisand effect?

The things one learns in WO...

Thanks guys!

Not interested in buying GME, but it's so interesting to see the drama unfold. Are we all plugged into a Matrix universe? Have we all taken the BLUE pill? More importantly, is Bitcoin the RED pill?
1494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 28, 2021, 08:15:25 AM
It must be so sad and depressing to be CSW... He has benefited so much from Bitcoin, he has so much money he can do anything he wants, and yet he is consumed by hatred, envy and bitterness, suing anyone and everyone who opposes his absurd claims, wasting time and energy supporting BSV and other pointless projects that will soon be forgotten.

He must be a deeply unhappy and unlikable person. I'd rather be a beggar on the street than be him.

So sad. Just goes to show that money =/= happiness.
1495  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 26, 2021, 08:29:56 AM
And again, all the gains from yesterday are gone... again... Dispite bullish news from yesterday... So waiting again for the final break out or again prices to buy the fucking dip.. again...

Really, would be nice if we leave finally this stupid 31k and never came back down ...

It may suck, but you can't expect the price to go up to hundreds of thousands without corrections.

Bitcoin rewards the hodler.

Yes, I know. But sucks to see all the gain lost again. How many "cvorrection" do we need? I know it'S a long running game. But I sucks any way ... And buy the dip doesn'T help, when you have to wait for you paycheck ...

In the last cycle we had serveral corrections and they sometimes went for months. Don't be surprised if we mimic that.

I know ... Smiley I am not surprised, but most "corrections" went + 30% then -27%, which is a net win of 3% (for example) ... do that 20 times and we are on a good way. I only want to express my "meh" and release the stress Cheesy

Would be nice, if we went sideways on the 35k level for a while Cheesy not this stupid 30k/31k ... to nearby at the 2xk levels Cheesy this stresses. A middle 3xk would be more calming Cheesy

I don't know how much fiat you have invested and when, but I don't feel stressed at all when I see that the value of my Bitcoin stash is now 14.7 times the value of the fiat I used to buy it. My "loss" threshold is very low, around $1800. Any price above that leads to a profit for me. I guess that's the benefit of being a (somewhat) early adopter. Still, no one likes the price to fall, since profit does not necessarily lead to "fuck you" rich status, and many of us still need to wait for a while until we reach that level. My guess is that this will happen quite soon for some of us, even as early as this year, or the next at the latest. Others (is it Octopussies?) may need to wait a bit longer, but it's still doable. Just HoDL.

Fact: Bitcoin has a tendency to move from the hands of the impatient, to those of the patient. (was it Warren Buffett that said something like this?)
Proof: mindrust.

More quality meme material in the making. WO will be flooded when Bitcoin hits $100k in a few months.

You mean like this?

I guess I should stick a BTC logo over the circle.

Wow! I was not aware that such a bill existed! Good for brrrrrrrrrr... Should save some paper. But no, it's based on gold, and they don't like that.

More rare banknotes and backstory.
1498  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 25, 2021, 03:22:08 PM

Yeah, yeah... I bet they would have responded the same in 2015 or 2016, and look where we are now... In fact, just go out on the street and ask the first 100 passers-by. Even screen them for a university degree at the minimum. I bet 95% would answer that it's going to zero.

Same if you had asked them about the internet in the 80s.

More quality meme material in the making. WO will be flooded when Bitcoin hits $100k in a few months.

Imagine investing in such a company to get "exposure to Bitcoin" then in some years when BTC is worth much more and you feel like a millionaire, you realize the company was a ponzi and there is no BTC left.

Not your keys, not your Bitcoin.

Bitcoin investment companies (like Grayscale) are good for Bitcoin, but not suitable for those who are Bitcoin-literate enough to really own their coins (that's us). Why would any one of us use their services, when we are perfectly capable of actually owning (a.k.a. holding the keys to) Bitcoin and being our own bank? These companies can help the Bitcoin-illiterate investors have some skin in the game and reap some of the profits. All the better for everyone (and our keys are secure, while we reap all the profits). Win-win.
