Why is the gender balance of bitcoin so biased towards men?

Because men tend to have a higher interest in techie obscurity and a much higher tolerance for taking insane risks. Fewer female brains are wired that way.

Considering how overwhelmingly toxic cryptoland is I can't say I blame anyone for not wanting to get involved. When a female turns up and declares herself on here it seems to deeply disturb quite a few posters.

The crypto world is undoubtedly filled with mostly men but I know quite a few women that are invested in cryptocurrency.  Those stereotypes are starting to break down in todays society.  Girls are heavily interested in video games, cars, and other jobs that used to be male dominated.

Bitcoin has been called a scam many times in the past and still is by a lot of people today.  You can find many old posts, blogs, news reports declaring it a complete scam so the lesson is always do your own research and don't take advice blindly.  Even if others are calling a new coin a scam it may have some merit and may end up being huge someday.
903  Economy / Economics / Re: If you had 10000$ on: January 20, 2019, 03:01:05 PM
All in BTC, don't be a fool like me and don't touch any shitcoin !
I fell into the smart contracts (ETH) hype Smiley now my ETH holdings are -80% down LOL

Ethereum just doubled from a few weeks ago.  Also -80% down isn't really a big deal in crypto, this is quite normal.  Go and look at the past bitcoin crashes and it has gone down over 80% many times in the past but it always rebounds stronger.  Eth will eventually add tokenized stocks to their platform and there are a lot of other future updates planned for Ethereum.

Don't give up bro. Prove us wrong. Anything is possible.

I have a bad feeling he is going to lose the bankroll but I'm hoping this guy ends up reaching the $10k goal.  After some of the wins I've seen anything is possible and $10k is a small amount compared to the real whales.  One thing is for sure, games are A LOT more exciting when there is money riding on the match.
905  Economy / Economics / Re: What kind of a crypto business without an ICO on: January 20, 2019, 02:35:10 PM
You can make a youtube crypto channel and offer advice and news on the market.  Evnetually if you get big enough with enough subscribers you will able to monetize your channel and maybe get some paid promotions.  If that doesn't suit you then open your own crypto exchange.  However this route will require a decent amount of starting capital if you want to succeed.
906  Economy / Economics / Re: First Bitcoin ATM in Venezuela on: January 20, 2019, 02:27:42 PM
I wonder how long this will last, I've heard of government officials confiscating bitcoin miners from citizens already.  I doubt the government will stand by and let people freely convert to bitcoin while they are trying to implement their own state backed cryptocurrency.
907  Economy / Speculation / Re: This Isn't Manipulation on: January 20, 2019, 02:18:40 PM
... if we users can do something as a community to promote bitcoin to increase its adoption it will help tremendously to continue its demand in the financial field and online businesses and I think it is something essential these days

Without us, trader, bitcoin is nothing.
We as the trader control bitcoin value , but I can confess that we can control bitcoin because we all know that bitcoin value depend on supply and demand so that's why the value still volatile until now

Traders do add a lot of value to bitcoin by providing liquidity.  All these trading bots getting cents for rapid trades help the market.  The market is volatile but I believe the recent crash from 6k was mainly due toe the Bitcoincash Hash war between Ver and Wright.  Many bitcoins were dumped to pay for that war and it caused a further sell off by other investors.
908  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Pre-Season on: January 19, 2019, 04:51:59 PM
I think James Harden is a very overrated player.  First off he barely gives any effort on defense, there are many clips of him just letting players blow by him without doing anything.  Referees are giving him too many foul calls and it has gotten to a point where he plays to draw fouls pretty much.  He likes to get intertwined with other players and he gets his foul shots 9/10  times, very unfair.
909  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: HODL IS THE BEST OPTION FOR ME NOW on: January 19, 2019, 04:41:55 PM
Patience will always pay off.  Look at Amazon, the stock crashed over 80 percent after the dot.com crash happened.  Slowly but surely it started to rise and the company began to expand and eventually it became a trillion dollar company.  Bitcoin has a similar trajectory but the time frame is much shorter.
910  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance CEO saying don't keep coins on exchanges on: January 19, 2019, 04:30:38 PM
No keys are truly ever safe, I'm sure 99 percent of us would give up our private keys if we were being tortured and force to give up our crypto.  If exchanges have good physical security they can still be overtaken by criminals, nothing is ever 100% safe.  Since these exchange operations are well known they are not very hard to track down either.
911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to invest in an ICO? on: January 19, 2019, 03:58:52 PM
Sometimes investing in ICOs very interesting. But right now, i wont invest because market condition. I am heard about ICOs from this forum and some website dedicated for ICOs. Right now, i am prefer buying coin that already establish in exchanger because heard many scam ICOs

Buying established coins is good but you won't see any of the huge gains you can get from investing in new coins. If you don't know what you are doing just buy bitcoin and leave speculating to the pros  Ethereum ICO investors are still really happy with their 300x return on investment.
912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's kick some bear ass on January 30th! on: January 18, 2019, 03:19:45 PM
A lot of this depends on the bitcoin miners, if they continue to dump it will be harder to start the bull run.  We need these big mining companies to hold strong and only sell the minimum amount required to pay for their electricity.  I'm starting to fear we may not see a new all time high until the next block reward reduction.
913  Economy / Economics / Re: More than USD 1.5 bln has been stolen from exchanges. Here’s a recap on: January 18, 2019, 02:43:21 PM
Sounds like a lot but how much money are banks and wall street stealing from the common people? Banks are making billions off overdraft fees alone.  Throw in a good amount of insider trading and fraud from Wall STreet and crypto thefts pale in comparison.  P.S. I think most of these crypto hacks are inside jobs and not really from hackers.
914  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are your key reasons of choosing a particular exchange for trading? on: January 18, 2019, 02:29:56 PM
I'm only sticking with top exchanges at this point, there is just too much risk involved with the lower tier exchanges.  Seems like a new one gets hacked every couple of weeks.  The only time I will use an unkown exchange is if they are the only one that is trading a new altcoin that I want to purchase.
915  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin the survival of the fittest on: January 18, 2019, 02:22:42 PM

Do you agree? Despite the numerous attempt to destroy it, Bitcoin do not died and it thrive.

Many software got forgotten by time, banks get destroyed, companies broken, business ruined due to market crashes.

bitcoin survival all the deadliest attempt to kill it, and everyone else who try to kill it get themselve hurt.

But I do not recommend anyone to buy it, I would only tell my friends to sell it, dump it, collect it, whatever they can do but DO NOT ever buy it once.

Its proven fact that bitcoin is nearly indestructible , it has faced so many challenges. it thrives still even if it has downfalls.

Umm.. recently a Bitcoin Cash Developer caught a inflation bug that was in Bitcoin, that could of spelled disaster for BTC.  Bitcoin is the best option we have at the moment but it is far from indestructible.

If you recommend it to friends they will be mad if they lose money but they will probably be even more angry if you kept bitcoin a secret and they missed big gains.
916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why Bounty Hunters Hate KYC !!! on: January 17, 2019, 02:55:29 PM
Your personal information can be sold on the darkweb to criminals so it is no wonder that people are hesitant to do KYC.  Even if you trust the service you are using their database can still be breached and the information stolen.  Identity fraud can ruin your life and can it can be a real pain to undo all the damage it causes.
917  Economy / Economics / Re: Important conditions for the progress of bitcoin on: January 17, 2019, 02:50:16 PM
If you care about the price you just need more new people to buy in.  The demand is dropping because people are losing interest in crypto.  The noobs always jump back in when the prices start to skyrocket, very few people want to buy after a massive correction.  I don't think financial institutions will make a big difference either, we already hit 20k without them.
918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Unforgettable Gambling Stories... on: January 17, 2019, 02:41:37 PM
I don't really have any spectacular gambling stories to tell, just some basic wins and losses in fairly small amounts.  I do like reading about lottery winners and other people that hit it big.  I find their experiences fascinating and how a lot of them end up going broke very quickly.  Many of them even say winning the lottery was the worst thing to happen to them.
919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Big day for ETH on: January 17, 2019, 02:29:41 PM
The fork will happen on January 16, 2019 - right?
So do you think this can be a great day for ETH or just a normal update?
The price right now is not making any big move, what do you think will happen tomorrow?

I don't see any hype about this update as the market is not moving upward due to fewer demands. I'm hoping that after the update we can see some positive improvements on the Ethereum price. Be patient as this might take enough time before we can see the progress.

The effects will start to show when the update actually happens because it will lower the inflation rate.  Less ethereum being dumped on market equals a higher price.

The price will have to rise to compensate for the miners losing out on rewards, so expect to climb very rapidly over the next few months.
920  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Reason Why Cryptopia Is SCAM on: January 16, 2019, 04:13:08 PM
Of course it is an exit scam.  There is no doubt in my mind that the owner of cryptopia is involved in this heist.  We have seen this same scenario play out multiple times with exchanges and they always claim to be "hacked".  Its really sad because once they convert all that crypto to Monero it will be impossible to track.
