961  Economy / Reputation / Re: Known Alts of any-one - A User Generated List Mk IV (2023 Q2) [MODERATED] 🧐 on: May 28, 2023, 05:21:29 PM
I don't understand is this thread open to all users? So why is the moderator deleting my post?
~

This thread is not open to everyone. As a newbie, you can post your investigation in a new thread and post a link (once) to this thread. Read the fine print from the OP:

  • No "Newbie" or, "Junior Member" can post an investigation in this thread.  They can however post a link (once) to a thread in the reputation section where their investigations can be investigated and analised.
962  Economy / Reputation / Re: Merit Overflow of ltcrstrbrt on: May 28, 2023, 05:03:29 PM
This account was up for sale on the exact date it woke up.
The seller sold this account without removing or updating the selling thread. Clicking on Merit and Trust from the sell thread will redirect you to this account.

According to the archived pages on web.archive.org, his profile data (posts, activity...) match perfectly. This cannot be a coincidence.

https://web.archive.org/web/20221127051917/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=236814

Can someone verify before the seller remove the thread?

963  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 1xbit deposit (11,564 USD LOST) 3k who can help me on: May 27, 2023, 09:03:46 PM
Update: I tried contacting Binance customer service regarding your case, reporting a scam, and getting assistance returning the stolen funds. However, they asked me that the person concerned with the case would contact them as soon as possible, and they would provide assistance.

That is a good initiative on your part and the OP should take your advice and contact Binance regarding this matter. Or better yet, the OP could report the matter to the authorities. The amount is not insignificant and it could be worth the effort.
964  Economy / Reputation / Re: Feedback that are fun to read (collection) on: May 27, 2023, 08:41:36 PM
It's fun to read some many directions of speculation for a pre mature thread.

Check it back after few weeks once I bump it. For now please forget about what's in the subject and description.

If this is, as you say, a premature thread, and I believe it may be, then why did you create it?

In the future, it may be helpful to take some time to fully develop your idea before starting a new topic.
965  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why My Most Favorite Board is Beginners & Help ? on: May 26, 2023, 08:59:52 PM
I agree! The Beginners & Help board is an incredibly valuable resource for new users who are just starting to learn about cryptocurrency. It was an important starting point for me, and I continue to enjoy coming back here. It is good to know there are still people who are willing to help out others in need, especially when it comes to something as technical as cryptocurrency.
966  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am Never going to Leave this Forum no Matter What on: May 25, 2023, 10:57:25 PM
~
What about you ? Can there be anything (assuming you did not break any of the rules) that will make you leave the forum or not?

Yes, this forum has been a great platform for learning and interacting with others, and I do not think I can ever find another forum like this. But I cannot say I would never leave this forum. There is always a first time for everything.  So if the forum turns into something that I do not like or agree with, or if this forum will turn into a place where people are no longer allowed to express their opinions, then I am going to leave the forum.

I do not see that happening anytime soon. But if it does, then I am out of here.  Wink
967  Economy / Reputation / Re: Feedback that are fun to read (collection) on: May 25, 2023, 10:33:21 PM
I noticed your title says "collection," but I only see one neutral feedback example here. And to be honest, not particularly fun to read, in my humble opinion. Are there any more feedbacks you can share to make it more interesting?
968  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the bull run near already? on: May 24, 2023, 08:16:41 PM
The bull run that Zhao refers to is the 2017 bull run, which was triggered by a story on CCTV. The coverage led to a surge in demand for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as well as an increase in trading volume across exchanges. This is what I gathered from the media sources available. However, there are many factors that can influence the market, and it is difficult to predict with certainty whether this event will lead to a bull run or when a bull run may occur. In my opinion , this event will not have as much of an impact on the market as the 2017 bull run. The reason I think this is because there are many more people who own cryptocurrencies and know what they are than in 2017, so any news that comes out about bitcoin will likely be met with skepticism or indifference by some.
969  Other / Meta / Re: Images from Imgur have been restored on: May 24, 2023, 07:48:08 PM
They tried hardly to be a new 9gag and ignored the fact that most people were just using their service as image hosting only.
Please, apart from image hosting, what other services does imgur offer? Grin I don't even bother to browse the site let alone to create an account. I knew them through this forum

As far as I know, Imgur still primarily focuses on image hosting, and it remains one of the most popular image hosting sites on the internet. But in recent years, they also include video hosting, community features such as commenting and upvoting, and the ability to create memes using their built-in meme generator tool. Imgur also has a messaging feature that allows users to share images and videos privately with others.

Embedding imgur links is not supported in new posts

So I thought imgur is no longer allowed to be used to post image on forum since theymos made his new rules, and now talkimg and imgbb are the solution.
Oops! That's a harsh decision on them from theymos, but I have nothing to say than they deserve it.

Yeah. They were the standard for a long time, and I used them frequently on this site. But considering the recent problems, I support this decision.
970  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Brand on: May 24, 2023, 07:30:28 PM
I also notice that the pages are mostly in Germany, even though there is an English section. The shop for example does not support English, so users will need to translate it with Google if they want to add products to the cart. Is this intended or you're still planning to translate other parts into English?

Yes, I noticed that too.

It is unclear whether the website was made with a pre-made template or if it was custom-built. However, if the site's target audience includes international customers, its implementation of multilingualism may not be effective. The fact that most of the content is only in German means that it would be difficult for an international customer to make a purchase. If the target audience is only German users, however, this would not be a problem.
971  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Which are the best crypto mixers of 2023? on: May 23, 2023, 09:35:18 PM
When it comes to finding the best Bitcoin mixer, it really depends on what you prioritize. Some people might argue that the best mixer is the one with the highest security rate, while others might prioritize lower fees. It's all about personal preference. If you are looking for a comprehensive list of current Bitcoin mixers and their basic characteristics, I recommend checking out this thread: 2023 List Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites
972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Budget For Halving on: May 23, 2023, 09:22:12 PM
can any one explain what and why will be after the halving event?

i know that difficulty for mining bitcoin will be doubled. but what can be done with the price of BTC and why?

The halving event in Bitcoin refers to the reduction in the block reward given to miners, not the mining difficulty. During a halving, the number of new Bitcoins created with each mined block is halved. This decrease in rewards affects the profitability for miners and the total supply of new Bitcoins entering circulation. With the reduced supply of newly minted coins, many speculate that this shortage could put pressure on the price of Bitcoin if demand remains constant or increases. Therefore, lower supply = higher price.
973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The unforseen and likely occurrence in the Bitcoin space on: May 22, 2023, 10:17:48 PM
From my perspective, the most significant unforeseen situation that could impact the crypto space revolves around regulatory challenges. As cryptocurrencies continue to evolve, it is possible that governments may introduce new regulations that have the potential to significantly impact the entire crypto ecosystem.
974  Economy / Reputation / Re: Account Connected Full member/Hero member spammer & bounty cheater on: May 22, 2023, 07:56:51 PM
DT tag is definitely required for spammers cheater multi accounts like this. So give DT1, DT2 tag as soon as possible (thanks).

Got any proof that this user pulled off any shady stuff or violated any rules with his alternate account?
All I can see is that andrew_788 took part in some bounties nearly five years ago but has remained inactive ever since. I do not think that deserves a tag from DT members, even if they are confirmed to be alt accounts.
975  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger Confirmed That Government Can Get Access To Your Fund on: May 21, 2023, 09:03:09 PM
Ledger is working closely with the government that's what it is. They may not even need a subpoena to access your account. They'd just go ahead and go ahead and because it's not an opensource the Ledger company could even freeze your coins if not sent to another wallet.

For users who bought a Ledger wallet and have used it before this update, there must have been paranoia already. If I did have a ledger, I must have sent my coins already the day after the announcement.

In my opinion, the biggest takeaway from this case is that we should not trust closed source wallets. When it comes to hardware wallets, the safest options appear to be those that are completely air-gapped. This means the ones that do not connect your hardware wallet to any form of internet connection. For example, they use QR codes and a camera to sign transactions. What are your thoughts on this?
976  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What's the differ between mining and trading? on: May 21, 2023, 08:08:27 PM
Mining and trading are completely different, but I believe you already know that.
Mining involves using powerful computers validate transactions on the blockchain network. This process requires a lot of energy and computing power. On the other hand, trading involves buying and selling cryptocurrency on an exchange, with the goal of making a profit. Trading relies on human strategies and market analysis. Both methods have their pros and cons, but trading is generally more convenient and accessible to beginners than mining.
977  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you still buying? on: May 21, 2023, 07:49:33 PM
This market is not favourable since 2021 till now like as of last two years that was a boom let's face the fact about,
~

How can you say that? From the lows of late last year and early this year, Bitcoin looks quite favorable to me now. It is like saying the roller coaster is no fun because you are currently on the uphill climb. Just wait for that exhilarating downhill rush, my friend! The cryptocurrency market is full of surprises, and who knows what exciting twists and turns await us in the future. So, buckle up and enjoy the ride!  Cheesy
978  Other / Meta / Re: Crimes of signatures campaign affects forum? on: May 21, 2023, 07:27:30 PM
Bitcointalk is basically just a forum platform where people discuss about all things crypto. It doesn't endorse any particular businesses, and therefore cannot be held responsible for any shady business going down.

Now, when it comes to signature campaigns, the responsibility falls on the organizers and the members themselves. The forum cannot be held accountable for the actions and choices made by individuals participating in these campaigns and who choose to wear certain signatures. But, there are also rules in place, right? Members are not allowed to promote illegal activities, and that applies to signatures too.

So, the bottom line is that everyone has to take personal responsibility. Bitcointalk provides a platform, but it is up to the users to make sure they are not doing things that could get them into trouble or engage in any activities that may have legal implications.
So you want me to believe that no crime of signature campaign that can affects the forum, and if action should be taken if a signatures campaign commit crime that will bring intervention of government the action will go directly to the organisers of that particular signatures campaign, that means that forum is autonomous and everyone is promoting its business will bear the consequences when issue's or when theirs complications of distrust and investigations.

Criminal activities can occur in any context, including within signature campaigns. If a signature campaign is found to involve criminal behavior that could attract government intervention, it is reasonable to assume that the forum administrators would not allow such a campaign to continue. If the criminal activity is discovered after individuals have already participated in the campaign, they may not be held liable if they were unaware of the illegal actions taking place.

But all this is purely hypothetical and based on my assumptions. As far as I know, there have not been any specific cases of signature campaigns involving criminal activities on this forum.

Take mixer services as an example. Mixer services, in and of themselves, are not inherently illegal. However, there have been instances where some mixer services have been investigated and accused of engaging in illegal activities, such as the Chipmixer case. And yet, no sanctions or interventions came from the governing agencies because the CM advertised through signature campaigns.
979  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger Confirmed That Government Can Get Access To Your Fund on: May 21, 2023, 06:09:48 PM
Though like I said earlier, I've not been able to verify the authenticity of this information, but then, if this information be true, then I think we all should be very careful with ledger devices - privacy wise.

if this is confirmed to be true then I think many people will not use this wallet anymore because the government can have access to it.
for me, the only hardware wallet I trust now only Trezor Wallet, they will stay like this and not make the same steps as Ledger did.

No doubt about it! This has been confirmed by multiple Ledger officials, so it is pretty solid information. Ledger has made it clear that for their "Recover" service, they will be handing over user's private data to external companies registered in the EU and US. It is not surprising, really. We all know that law enforcement agencies in those jurisdictions collaborate closely when it comes to investigations and prosecutions.

So, it is pretty obvious that if any legal issues come up, there is a chance that user's private information could be accessed and used in those investigations. It is definitely something to keep in mind when considering the risks and benefits of using such a service.

It is a bit sad, though, that many newcomers to the crypto might not be aware or concerned about these aspects. It is just like when people trusted centralized services like the FTX exchange to hold their funds, and we all know how that turned out.
