522  Other / Off-topic / Re: TV Series Recommendations... on: August 03, 2014, 09:26:11 PM
Did anyone watched the series FARGO and can recommend it?
(The movie wasnt bad so i thought ill give it a try)

Yes its very good. It has one of the most interesting and menacing bad guys I've seen in any TV show. Plus the dark humor and accents are very funny!

Fargo was one of the best made series in a long time.   It was great that they only made it 10 episodes so that it didn't drag on and on like most series do nowadays.   Billy Bob plays the perfect villain in that show

i guess you liked it more than i did.. i thought it was okay to good, but not great. can't quite put my finger on it, but it just felt like something in the series was missing.

spoiled, attention whoring pop stars are definitely bad for society, but they are not the same thing as the bureaucrats who shape our law.. so even though i dislike bieber, he's not as bad.

it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out.. republicans do seem to have a more enthusiastic base, and rand paul, if he's anything like his dad, will have an army of people willing to do a lot of the groundwork.

my problem with hilary is that she's the same sold same old.. she brokered that secretary of state to pretty much push the U.S. imperialistic agenda forward. i don't think her campaign message would be anything similar to "hope and change," because it's obvious she'll do shit the same way as the US has done before.
526  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who would you be? on: August 03, 2014, 08:07:54 PM
anyone who is able to find happiness without needing a lot of wealth or power.
527  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian liberals threatening secession? on: August 03, 2014, 07:47:18 PM
i wonder if this separatist movement was possibly engineered by the U.S./CIA. it would be a pretty effective way of fucking with putin. the annex parts of the ukraine, the U.S. emancipates part of russia..
528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the #@!$ is going on ?! on: August 03, 2014, 07:44:28 PM
and this is why it's crazy to think that bitcoin will one day supplant paper currency. it's just not going to happen. this is only one of the reasons among many.

saw the best documentary i've seen last night. it's called "the act of killing" and follows a group of gangsters in indonesia from the mid 60's. they killed 1 million people, and here we see the aftermath of it, and how it affects the murderers psychologically. the subjects are really funny too, which makes me feel confused. the main guy is even likable, even though he talks about how he killed/garroted people. towards the end, he has an epiphany (he acts out the things he did) when he has to play a character who is tortured and killed. he sees how it feels like to be the people he harmed and starts weeping.

the difference between those old 80's style cell phones vs. the smartphone is that one is a computer and the other is only used for calling people.

realistically, whoever wins ohio and florida, the two swing states with the most electoral votes, is going to end up winning the race.
If Rand is the GOP nominee there'll be many more swing states than just the two of those. It will be an election unlike any we've ever seen in modern times. The party lines will be completely up in the air and there might even be a sideshow third party independent like a Donald Trump in there to try and peel support away from Rand the republican. Anything can happen which is why he's hiring all the right people and going to bat on the right issues to have a mass populist rising behind him.

Even worse than Donald Trump, former Mayor Bloomberg will run 3rd party.

bloomberg is a serious politician though. donald trump is just a fluffer who tries to get in front of the camera..
532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I got my mother to buy 15 bitcoins over the past year. Have you done similar? on: August 02, 2014, 12:37:25 AM
Got my pops to swap fiat for 6BTC   Cool

Kudos to you and all others that got  parents or elderly into btc.

I've personally found the older (+45) folk are just too skeptical - and not worth the risk for them. Sad Sad

yep, older people are more skeptical to change.. at least in my experience. they like to find a comfortable spot and keep going there. my mom does that shit all the time.
533  Other / Off-topic / Re: 5 weeks in a coma, is there a "realistic" chance of recovery? on: August 01, 2014, 11:45:04 PM
seems like the best she can hope for is a full recovery.. but with a hell of a lot of muscle atrophy.
534  Economy / Speculation / Re: $500,000 per Bitcoin, baby. The math behind it. on: August 01, 2014, 11:26:23 PM
There is a central authority forcing people to use fiat money, giving them to people as salary, and the economy behind it grows (Not the other way round: the economy grows and need more fiat money. you always first get money and then setup project to hire people). If they stop giving out fiat money, the economy will shrink

For bitcoin it is very different, if no central authority is giving out bitcoin as salary, there will be very limited bitcoin spending, thus the bitcoin economy won't grow quickly

You can't take the size of a fiat money economy and apply it to bitcoin. The bitcoin economy only grows at remittance and long term saving area

btw, did you hear about overstock paying their employees in bitcoin? well, not salary but bonuses. i can see other companies like dell or newegg following suit.
535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bloomberg.com spreading BTC BS on: August 01, 2014, 10:37:25 PM
the thing about pedo rings is that they are ultrasecretive, so there's no way of really knowing much about their activities, unless you are NSA/CIA who are spying on them.
536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bloomberg.com spreading BTC BS on: August 01, 2014, 09:53:56 PM
Governments will need to educate themselves as to why Bitcoin and other such currencies came about first before they think about regulating it. If they do insist on regulation chances are another form of currency will pop up and we will be right back where we are now. Those engaged in child porn will always find ways to get what they want so from credit cards to money transfer to cryptocurrencies. The next avenue for payments is not known but they will find ways.

if there is legislation or restrictions on bitcoins, it won't be specifically for BTC.. but cryptocurrencies as a whole though.
537  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Zionist shills on reddit on: August 01, 2014, 09:51:53 PM
i'd also like to note that the more info that comes out about zionist shills, the more people will suspect those who are pro-israel as those shills, which might lead to more fingerpointing.
538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: do you think folk from argentina are going to.. on: August 01, 2014, 09:49:10 PM
I'll be in Argentina on business. And I'm a seller of Bitcoin.

So let's say I sell 15 - 20 Bitcoins to the locals.  What the hell do I do with a pocket full of pesos (the hotel has specified settlement in USD)?

since their fiat is less valuable, i'd assume they'd have to pay you more in peso for a bitcons.

you can flash your bling and get argentine chicks, i guess?
539  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which countries don't have coastlines? on: August 01, 2014, 09:47:49 PM
i can think of at least one con: shipping out your goods or shipping them in costs a little more, since they must land at a dock and reach you... a dock that is not in your country.
540  Other / Off-topic / Re: How often do you change a new phone? on: August 01, 2014, 09:44:40 PM
i buy used phones 1 or 2 generations behind.. but i'm happy with my galaxy s3, so i'll hold on to that phone for at least 1 more year. the new tech doesn't really bring much improvements, so that's the point?
