1141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is China so important for Bitcoin? on: June 19, 2014, 07:30:17 PM
i dont think bitcoin NEEDS china, but that china's adoption of it could provide a big boon, as it has in the past. chinese people have a lot of money and their options of where to put it are limited.. compound that with its hyperbubble real estate market, and you'd see why. plus there's a reason why they hold on to so much gold. bitcoin could potentially be a blessing to china, but i guess they don't want to have anything to do with it. maybe that's why they are so wishy washy.
1142  Other / Off-topic / Re: Petabyte hard drives on: June 19, 2014, 06:37:06 PM
hard drive storage has plateaued for a few years now.. we haven't seen much development. maybe they're shifting more towards SSDs. i doubt in 2-3 years we'll see big jumps. we are seeing diminishing returns.
1143  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran actress scandal?? on: June 19, 2014, 06:33:45 PM
I just read this news today.

"A 25-year-old woman was stoned to death and killed by her family outside a high court in the Pakistani city of Lahore, for marrying the man she fell in love with, according to police and a lawyer. Police said about 20 members of the family started attacking Farzana Parveen, and her husband Mohammad Iqbal, with sticks and bricks as they waited for the high court to open on Tuesday afternoon."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worl...she-loved/

The father wasn't even apologetic, he was there when the police arrived and said it was justified because it was a 'honor killing' because by not marrying the person the family chose for her, the woman have disgraced the family. WTF.

And apparently this kind of 'killing' is common in Pakistan!

"Although the Pakistani government itself does not collect any data — and it is illegal to carry out such killings — several hundred women are said to be killed in honor killings every year in Pakistan. In the latest annual report released (PDF) by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, 869 women were killed in the name of honor in 2013."

The fact that they can easily take away a human life like this is a very disgusting portrayal of the Pakistani attitude and perspective of women's rights.

In view of such atrocities, no wonder the Iranians wanted such harsh punishment for Leila Hatami also! I think the international community should take drastic actions to liberate and rescue the lives of oppressed women in the middle east!

sounds like an honor killing to me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_killing

hear about it way too often. there's just something more crazy and primitive about muslim culture. though to be fair, i do think they have legitimate reasons for not liking westerns who go in there and exploit them.
1144  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran actress scandal?? on: June 19, 2014, 06:31:56 PM
there's nothing we can really do but let them implode on themselves.. i wish were didn't meddle in their business. we probably wouldn't care and treat them like we do africa, if it weren't for all that tasty oil they have.
1145  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: June 19, 2014, 06:27:51 PM
i've yet to receive payment, and i wasn't on your list before stunna.. i'll wait another day or two though, since i know you have a lot on your plate.
1146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would it be better for us to call Bitcoin 'pseudo-decentralised'? on: June 19, 2014, 06:25:49 PM
yeah it's not really decentralized, and it's also not really anonymous either. as for the part where it's not decentralized, i don't see how it can be any other way - someone needs to be able to dictate where bitcoins, since it's not self-sustaining. new issues arise and there has to be someone who deals with it.
1147  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can We Live Forever? on: June 19, 2014, 08:09:21 AM
even if your cells didn't deteriorate, you could die from a physical wound.. so i don't like it when these questions are posed. oh, and i wouldn't even want to live forever. just let me die in peace.

but even if we did reach this level of technology, it would cause a huge problem.. people wouldn't or couldn't have kids anymore, and there would definitely be a population problem.
1148  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: June 19, 2014, 08:05:39 AM
The new period starts on Tuesday, but if you finish this term as a Senior I think you'll get paid for that rank.

ha, gay m8.. i know why you said that. you're 2 periods away from the next payment period and have 224 points. i don't know how he's going to do this either. he'd probably just pay you at the senior rate is my guess too.
1149  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sexual violence in UK gangs 'similar to war zones' according to BBC on: June 19, 2014, 08:01:47 AM
No weapons is good, at specially not in criminals hands. I will never understand how US can allow selling their own kids weapons, which they use only for showing off and killing innocent. I think that without them there would be less crime.

Then explain why the crime rate in London (UK) is higher than that in Portland (United States). What really happening is that the gang members have access to fire-arms and use them to attack normal people, while the latter group are denied access to the same fire-arms, which they would have used to defend themselves.

aren't you comparing apples to oranges here? why are you comparing london to portland specifically? again, you're sounding like a GOP guy. people in the U.S. end up killing other people with guns way way more than they do in the UK.. not overall numbers, but per 100,000 people.

wikipedia shows:
U.S. = 3.6 deaths per 100,000 people
U.K. = .25 per 100,000 people

of all the developed nations, the U.S. is far and away the highest deaths per 100,000 people.
1150  Other / Politics & Society / Re: GOP House Majority Leader Eric Cantor Goes Down Hard Tonight!! on: June 19, 2014, 07:52:47 AM
and i don't know what kind of latinos you're familiar with, but most do not support the GOP because the GOP is completely against them. maybe you know cubans?

The GOP is not against the Latinos as a race. The tea party and Libertarian segments of the GOP are against those Hispanics who have entered the US illegally. But they are not against those who have migrated legally, such as the vast majority of the Cubans.

i can't listen to you say this and not think that you are seriously living in a republican bubble. if they didn't have anything against hispanics, then i'd think the party would be much more diverse than 90% caucasian.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/160373/democrats-racially-diverse-republicans-mostly-white.aspx

oh and despite what you say, 1% of asians are republican and 2% are democrats.
1151  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Alien disclosure and my personal encounter on: June 19, 2014, 07:50:23 AM
Dank, I've tried to reason with you, but you are so adamant that your delusional psychosis represents the reality you want it to be, you are unwilling to even consider that you are suffering a serious psychotic break as a result of your persistent drug abuse. Let me remind you.

Psychiatry is a delusion, it is false science.
Neurology is not a delusion, it is true science. If you repeatedly ingest psychoactive substances that cause particular neurochemical responses to occur in such a way as to make you perceive reality to be something 'more' than what it is, you may well come to believe that erroneous perception.

The brain displays remarkable plasticity, in that it will constantly seek equilibrium by way of up or down-regulation of neuronal receptors in response to persistent chemical imbalances, namely, repeated psychoactive drug use. It's known as 'tolerance' and is responsible for the user needing more of their drug of choice in order to feel the same effects and also the withdrawal symptoms created if there is a sudden cessation in the repeated administration of the compound.

Long term abstinence will also demonstrate the remarkable plasticity of the brain in that it will, over time, return to its 'normal' neurological/neurochemical state. 'Normal', of course, being a rather misunderstood term in that it does not equate to functional and healthy, only to that which is usual, absent drug-induced alteration.

Whilst the good people at M.A.P.S have scientifically demonstrated the successful use of illicit psychoactive compounds to treat certain psychiatric disorders, self-medicating outside of a controlled environment, frequently leads to habitual and chronic drug abuse and all the ills that accompany that lifestyle.

Dank, just because you believe you know what you are doing, it does not equate to you actually understanding what you are doing or, for that matter, even being open to the idea that you may be wrong.

None of what you claim you are experiencing is actually what you believe it to be Dank, you are mentally unwell and if you persist in clinging to this increasingly bizarre narrative, it will get harder to recover from it and, more importantly, you may well become a danger to yourself or other people.

But, then, I guess this is the part where you tell me I am either just closed-minded or I am working for the 'bad guys' that exist in your narrative.

This.

I'm not saying you didn't see what you claim... I'm only saying that you probably didn't see it in the same way that your friend would have seen it, should he have been there with you at the time.

You should seek an independent professional opinion. Somebody with good online reviews in a small private practice...

If you truly believe that a trans-dimensional being shape shifted into the form of a person who you have an emotional/sentimental attachment to. The form sounds like something that only your own mind could produce.

i think his parents already had him seen. he was on prescription drugs, based on what he said, and decided to stop taking them. i think the way they have dealt with him has not been very effective (or maybe he's impossible to deal with) since he seems to dislike them.
1152  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iraq's second largest city, Mosul, captured by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria on: June 19, 2014, 07:46:27 AM
i guess it'll be interesting to see how much isis can inspire people to join them.. he sure looks like a darkhorse.

Read this. You'll know how they are getting support:

http://rt.com/news/166920-isis-iraq-offensive-report

But seriously, ISIS does have a lot of support among the Sunni Arabs, who feel discrimination at the hands of the pro-US Shiite regime.

being cool and pro is one thing, but the more important part is where you don't get people who are uninspired/not loyal.. you know, like those iraqi guys who just surrendered their weapons and uniforms. ISIS would do well if they knew how to appeal to people by giving them a goal or reason to fight.
1153  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-11] Cash transfers in Africa - Bitcoin for the poor on: June 19, 2014, 07:43:04 AM
http://www.economist.com/blogs/baobab/2014/06/cash-transfers-africa

Up to 80% of African adults have no bank account, but at least 16% use mobile-money platforms. The continent annually receives $50 billion in remittances, which are subject to fees of up to 12% charged by wiring services like Western Union. If one could improve internet access and provide immediate conversion into local currencies, entrepreneurs speculate that Bitcoin might be able to undercut remittance services. Zach Harvey, the chief executive of Lamassu, the ATM’s manufacturer, could train his sights on companies like Western Union.

cue in google project "loon." that would be totally cool if google decided to not only provide internet access to people in poor areas, but also to help them save millions or billions in remittance fees.
1154  Other / Politics & Society / Re: CNN national poll: Rand Paul 13%, Bush 13%, Ryan 12%, Huckabee 10%, Christie 9% on: June 19, 2014, 07:37:45 AM
whoever the republican is, is going to have a lot of trouble.

The demographics are against them. They have low levels of support among the young voters, and the racial minorities, two of the most rapidly growing segments in the USA.

or maybe they are just against themselves. they, as a party, are becoming way way more monolithic than they should be. i think it was something like 90% of republicans are white. meanwhile, we're seeing more and more diversity. the problem is that the GOP is becoming more and more extremist, because they fear other ethnicities might come on over and outgrow them. a simple solution would be to, you know, make policy that doesn't give a big "fuck you" to minorities. maybe include women too.

maybe what eric cantor was aiming for was to open the GOP gates up to other ethnicities, but the far right neocons were against that.

Everything is coming along fine guys Smiley

Some small delays due to the new system we've implemented, but expect payment very soon!

As for upping payments to higher than competition I mentioned beforehand:

 - All my competition has closed services (No longer accepting new people)
 - Most have had scam accusations against them
 - BTC price has increased by nearly 50% since that notice

So we will continue at the same rates for next month. I understand if this is a let down but our payments this month are an all time high and any higher would probably push us over the edge of this being a successful campaign.

PM me with any issues, I have a LOT of unread messages but I'll get through them all some time today or tomorrow.

Cheers for the continued support guys, you're all awesome.

I had expected the payments to decrease because of the reasons you mentionned. Thanks for keeping it that way!

I really didn't expect rates to increase with all the other campaigns sitting down our having problems not paying their participants.

that plus i feel the rates are already as good as they are. everyone wouldn't mind more, but asking for more is just.. greedy.

plus, of all the sig campaigns, stunna is probably the most reputable.

That is part of your ego's defense mechanism to cling to your sense of normality by rejecting foreign concepts that do not fit your world view.

Your story does sound pretty far fetched...

If trans-dimensional beings existed then they certainly wouldn't exist materially. They would have no mass...

If an alternate dimension exists simultaneously with ours then only subatomic particles joined by quantum entanglement would be able to affect one-another without existing in a state of superposition. Should multiple dimensions exist, the subatomic fabric between them would be the only connection.

Something like a lamp being cast off of a table by itself might possibly be explained by a rare quantum entanglement. An object with mass will not move without a force strong enough to overcome inertia and friction. If for instance; one of the subatomic particles composing a proton in the lamp had an entangled twin which wound up in large particle accelerator or massive cosmic energy discharge of some sort. I imagine enough energy might be released when that proton explodes randomly... Weird stuff like that happens sometimes and there really isn't a good explanation for it.

some have claimed that subatomic particles react differently when observed.

that's actually not just a claim. it's a confirmed scientific fact. but that doesn't make dank NOT crazy.. it's kind of sad though, because whatever we say, he will still not understand that he's schizophrenic.

i don't get why people have HD movies saved on their hard drives.. i hardly ever watch a movie more than once, so what would be the point? yet, as i'm saying this, i remember that i have some stuff backed up in my HDD. i don't have much though, maybe 30 gigs. i should probably delete them, as i'll never re-watch them anyways

porn, on the other hand, is something that you can re-watch and re-watch over and over  Cheesy

1160  Other / Politics & Society / Re: GOP House Majority Leader Eric Cantor Goes Down Hard Tonight!! on: June 19, 2014, 05:45:00 AM
saw last night on john oliver that he was the GOP's biggest proponent of immigration reform - so basically, at least for the next 2 years, don't expect to see any improvements on that front.

it was kind of funny on his show last night. republicans don't want immigration reform because most of the latinos that come in know that the GOP isn't looking out for their interests.

Many of the Latinos and Asians I know seem to have a propensity toward being on the right-wing side of the equation....

I suspect that they being on the right-wing side of you, puts them on the left of all in the universe except for one.

Smiley

Slight overstatement perhaps.  Certainly it is more correct in a population drawn from this forum.  But I'll certainly not argue with the basic suggestion.

My sense in the above statement is that such people have some desire to prove that they are 'good Americans'.  Since right-wingers tend to make more of a show of wrapping themselves in the flag, it's natural that they would be the pole to which those who desire to 'prove themselves' would gravitate.  Also, immigrants from certain zones are more likely to be drawn from the right wing of their native country so they have the basic neural wiring for right wing thought patterns.  Just my hypothesis.

you think being republican is more synonymous with "being american"? and i don't know what kind of latinos you're familiar with, but most do not support the GOP because the GOP is completely against them. maybe you know cubans?
