1281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would be your SR auction bid? on: June 16, 2014, 02:33:30 AM
Why is it a silent auction?  How does that serve the taxpayer?

i don't think this money is going back to the taxpayers.. it's probably going into the FBI or some other government organization.
1282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sending coins for neighborhoods to be more silent on: June 16, 2014, 02:30:23 AM
wait, what's the point of this thread? are you saying if you have annoying neighbors, you can get them to stop being annoying by giving them bitcoins? i don't understand the original point of the thread..
1283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your percent chance that Bitcoin will be the "Myspace" of cryptos? on: June 16, 2014, 01:54:43 AM
Bitcoin:

Not anonymous, not even really pseudonymous.  More centralization year over year.  I am hopeful that something better can come along, or that programmers have the wherewithal to make it better instead of leaving it at status quo.

that may be the case.. but i don't know how a new crypto is going to solve the issue of centralization. imo the only way a new cryptocurrency could supplant bitcoin is to provide it.

It solves the issue of centralization of not having the question of who controls/owns the coins be determined by a central authority

and how does that get solved? because someone somewhere would have to provide hashing power for the blockchain.
1284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bloomberg (Video) Government Sanctioning Bitcoin With FBI Auction on: June 16, 2014, 01:31:34 AM
I haven't really thought of it that way before, but it is true.. They are giving it legitimacy by auctioning it off in blocks like they are...

yeah they don't have any choice. it's either legitimize bitcoin, or don't collect on $100 million dollars. it's good news for anyone who is concerned with the government interfering, but i don't think that poses as bitcoin's biggest threat right now.
1285  Other / Off-topic / Re: NBA Playoffs - Which team are you rooting for? on: June 16, 2014, 01:21:12 AM
so what sports gambling site do you guys use with bitcoin? i haven't heard about many of them, so i wouldn't even know which ones to trust and which not to. depending in the spread, i would probably put my money on miami.. i was thinking 6 game series if the spurs won game 3, and they did. though i did think they would lose game 4 and win game 5.

I don't usually bet sports with btc. When I do I usually just use Cash. My friend runs a book by me, out I will bet in vegas.

oh nice.. this is just chump change for you then.

not looking good for miami.. even though chris bosh declared that the heat would be winning it. he hasn't really showed up since making that statement. i don't get why miami doesn't run its offense through him, he's obviously a better player than the way they are using him.

^If you really want a good dose of propaganda turn on MSNBC at any time and watch the panel of pimps selling you down the river. They're just so outlandish that it'd be funny if it wasn't so sad. Progs eat that stuff up as much or more than the righties do on Fox.

are you serious?
all that fud that goes on fox? climate change deniers. wall street apologists. i mean, for fuck's sakes, sarah palin was a regular contributor for a few years. there seems to be a lot of republicans or conservatives on bitcointalk.

we are talking about a party that uses the word "professor" and "intellectual" with airquotes, as if it were some dirty word.

i don't watch MSNBC because they are boring.. not because they say more crazy shit than fox. hell, i think fox gets some viewers just because of the crazy shit they say. i even had a girl tell me she watched it just for that sake.
Are YOU serious?

What if fuck's name is anyone smart enough to be posting on bitcointalk.org doing watch outdated broadcast and cable "news" of any sort?  I cut off directv three years ago, and man that was the smartest thing I ever did.

Now we have this cool home theater rig that does youtube, and movies.  No bullshit.  I read Instapundit and Drudge to find out what's going on.

Turning that hypnobox off best thing we ever did.

um, are we talking about the same thing? maybe you should read what i wrote.. i didn't defend any cable news network, i'm just saying fox says way crazier shit than any of the other networks.
At least Fox has Sen. Paul and some other libertarian guests on here and there which gives some better commentary than the rest of them. The only person on MSNBC that is worth a crap is Dylan Ratigan. And when you're talking about climate change, there's usually an agenda at work in terms of more regulations that curtail freedom even further.

that's mainly because we do need more regulations on emissions.. i don't see how you are justifying fox's stance on pollution because "it's just more reason for regulation." more likely, it's because the big oil guys are buddies with fox and conservatives.. there's no other reason why they could outright deny the effects of climate change.
1288  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Least-Liked Minority Group? Atheists. on: June 16, 2014, 12:18:38 AM
It should be the least liked group when it comes to religion. Atheists are not a minority group.

and why are they not? if you are linking the term "minority" to ethnicity, then that's just wrong. women are not an ethnic group, nor are the LGBT community. minority group just means a distinguishable group of people that are.. in the minority.

so shouldn't we get the info out? who is the the main guy behind ghash.io? does he have a seedy past? where is PG to do the dirty work?
1291  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bradley Manning Says US Public Lied to About Iraq War from the Start on: June 15, 2014, 09:46:08 PM
^ the only people that disagree with you are the politicians (and their constituents) who deepen their pockets from war. i'd think typical americans don't care about going to war in the middle or anywhere else.

i don't mean to shit on war veterans, but i don't like it when you see NBA players talking about how they make our country so safe.. how, since WW2, has our military made us safer?
1292  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Lindsey Graham: The Next 9/11 Is Coming from Iraq & Syria, and it’s ‘Inevitable' on: June 15, 2014, 09:43:40 PM
that's part of the whole republican agenda.. fear monger people into letting them get into a war, take the money from the war and give contracts to your friend. same reason why paul ryan wants to make so many budgets cuts and add even more money to the "defense" industry.
1293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When 50-75 people control 90% of Bitcoin supply, has it ever been decentralized on: June 15, 2014, 09:42:14 PM
Not technically, but in an economical sense, we are "at the mercy," so to speak, of anyone who holds so much. The good news - for holders - is that people are very greedy, so they probably act (with no regulation) in whatever manner they can to drive the value of their investment up. The bad news - for Bitcoin itself - is that its "true" value as a store of wealth is concealed by this behavior.

it's not just driving the price up. you can make money by speculating and driving it down, then buy them up and push them back to their original value.

we need to know the going rate on bitcoin at the end of the month to have a better idea what people are willing to spend on them coins. maybe the whales will tank the value of bitcoin to get better prices.
1297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would be your SR auction bid? on: June 15, 2014, 07:58:38 PM
i have no idea why people are saying in the 700's, especially with bitcoin being in the mid 500's today. how the f does that make sense to pay more than the market value + provide a 200k deposit?
1298  Other / Off-topic / Re: Blood fetish? on: June 15, 2014, 07:56:37 PM
you know, he likes what he likes.. no need to shame him. there are tons of people you guys know who are probably really into freaky shit. it's just that they don't tell the whole world.
1299  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Let's face it -- just because you CAN have children doesn't mean you SHOULD. on: June 15, 2014, 07:45:58 PM

plenty of kids to adopt who need homes, same with pets.

i wonder what the statistics on heterosexual couples that adopt kids vs. gay.. i'm willing to bet that there are more gay couples willing to adopt. it's one of the reasons why i support gays and gay marriage.

Well, how else is a gay couple supposed to get a kid?

well, you know they do have biological children right? i mean, a gay dude still has a penis and creates sperm.

maybe they're just doing this to make people think that their snooping isn't as dangerous as everyone thinks.
