i tried the guild wars free weekend trial when it first came out, and i gave up 3 minutes after starting. it was so damn boring. i think it has more to do with me though, i'm just not into games like i used to be.

Jesus H, why hasn't anyone kicked this loser Brock Pierce off of the Bitcoin Foundation yet? Hasn't he caused enough controversy yet? Also, how do you have a Realcoin backed to every dollar when there are $65 billion of them (dollars, that is) printed fresh every month? Are they going to 'print' 65 billion Realcoins every month too? Stupidest. Crypto. Idea. Evar. You give them your dollars, they give you the realcoins. Then 5 years down the line, they revalue or say that they're no longer backing the coin with dollars (like the US govt did with gold) but they're still worth a dollar. Then everyone else kicks themselves for being so stupid and Brock Pierce puts on his scuba gear and goes for another dive off his yacht anchored in the Caribbean. i find that pretty hilarious.. most people who use bitcoin like it for NOT being backed or tied to dollars. and now this guy provides something that is tethered to $USD. i think one common thing that all investors can agree on is: nobody is completely comfortable putting their faith into government-backed cash. |

I have the definite idea here you know nothing about ayn rand. In other words, you have good intentions, but have used an incorrect example? An interesting question though is whether the illegal immigrants have the attitude.... "fuck you, i'm worried about myself only." ....or whether they may have the actual attitudes as suggested by Rand. Because the illegals are those taking action, while we in the US are influenced by what they do and where. i'll admit that i haven't read her books, mainly because no one except republicans and wealthy people take it seriously. but i have read through her wikipedia page, and here's an excerpt for you: She said the individual should "exist for his own sake, neither sacrificing himself to others nor sacrificing others to himself." |

Last week I got a friend very interested in bitcoin and gave him a educated run down on what it is exactly. Today I called him to see if he was still interested in jumping on board to only find out his wife who works at a bank informed him that it is nothing more then a scam.
I was curious so I asked apparently the bank received a notice describing bitcoin as far as I am aware illegal and a scam etc. at least this is what I got from our brief conversation. I'm going to stop over there and talk to her a little bit more and see what it is she is able to disclose exactly.
Regardless slightly upset of the picture that the uneducated have painted not from the media just word of mouth.. He said he's going to research it himself but generally when wifey puts her foot down its yes dear.
Edit: The primary factor in it was money laundering and untraceable money.
This is more common than you would think. I was having lunch today with 2 of my friends (both of which are pretty financially successful)...they both have money invested in various places and are probably each bringing in 250-300k+ per year. The only reason I mention their income is so that it is clear that they are educated and not financial peons... When bitcoin got brought up in the conversation, one of them said "isn't that a scam?" The other one said "Bitcoin got shut down and is out of business right?" This goes to show how there is so much propaganda out there. You really have to take the time to sift through all the b.s. to actually find the truth about BTC. A large percentage of people wouldn't even take the time... that's the thing in life.. sometimes smart people can be really dumb, and really dumb people can be really smart. i still can't wrap my head around some of the dumb things that rich people do.. even if they are smart enough to amass a fortune. |

I sold some bitcoin rigs and transferred the money to the bank. It took a several days to clear, then I still waited a month or so before going down to make a withdrawal. They refused to give me my money until they could further research it. They wouldn't disclose any specific time frame to release the funds, other then they could hold it a few days or even 6 months. Apparently when I left the bank they froze all my accounts without telling me. They also refused to give me any reason, even after I researched and found they had no legal right to put a hold my account. I spoke to several other bank mangers from other banks who said they didn't have any legal right to freeze accounts without evidence of fraud. I did a little digging and got the number for the regional manager, they unfroze my accounts shorty after. Screw Wells Fargo. They act like your asking for a hand out when you go to get your own damn money.
wells fargo and bank of america have the worst reputation when it comes to accepting bitcoin related dollars. if that happened to me, i'd tell them what my rights were, and if they fucked with me i'd take it to the media. |

I encountered a lot more "scam" accusations 18 months ago. Now, people are finding it very difficult to say its a "scam" when they see that it is accepted by major well known companies such as: - Wordpress

- Overstock.com
- TigerDirect.com
- Chicago Sun-Times

- Newegg.com
- Lamborghini

Jennifer Calvery, director of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network told the Sentate committee, " Innovation is a very important part of our economy. It's something for us to be proud of." my uncle said it was a scam, but he doesn't understand what it is. he's an old money guy, kinda like warren buffet. he's middle class though. |

once someone has their mind made up, there's nothing you can really do. there is really no point in trying to dissuade them. this is the case especially with people who don't process the data given to them, but instead just take it as gospel.

This video made me sad. So much hatred and racism on display. I think the largest error in thinking is that immigration is a zero sum game, in that either Americans or immigrants benefit, but not both. There are already millions of undocumented workers in the country, and America is a better place for it. They are Americans, as every bit as my European grandparents, just trying to make a better life for themselves. If you were in their shoes you'd come here too. And I wouldn't blame you.
Why not trying to make a better life in their own country? If their own country is that corrupt, it is their duty to vote out and fight the current regime rather than pack their bag and move to country that has already make that sacrifice. you a fan of ayn rand? it's easy to say that they are lazy and should fix their own country, but what can one uneducated person do? Educate oneself and stop voting for the same vultures... Nothing to do with ayn rand. Plenty to do with the French revolution, Bolshevik revolution, the American revolution, the Cuban revolution etc, etc... Instead of becoming a subhuman on the social ladder of another country... it's got plenty to do with ayn rand. it's basically the mentality of "fuck you, i'm worried about myself only." again, if you did do that.. how would that even fix anything? especially if there's voter intimidation? hell, even in america your vote doesn't really count for all that much.. the same officials are elected every year. realistically, they are fucked if you expect them to stay put. i'm pretty sure most americans, if put in an immigrants position, would do the same thing. everybody does what they think is best for themselves. |

I feel the total opposite about it, I don't get the Apple hype. It's hipstery and lame to pay so much for something that you could get something else that is way much better in performance and quality than apple. It's like the hype is keeping apple going and I'm just waiting for it to die off. i'm the same here. i recently had to unlock my sister's phone via backup and restore on itunes.. took something like 2 hours. it took about 4 minutes on my android. i really, really hate itunes and apple's file transfer system too. android is much, much easier for me to use. apple does design their phones a lot better than the competition though. |
