1041  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Community should start murdering 100% proven scammers on: June 27, 2014, 05:08:12 AM
uh, yeah because killing people associated to bitcoin by people associated to bitcoin is really going to help how the media portrays us.

and nevermind that, let's all start being sociopaths and killing whoever the fuck we want.
1042  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korea threatens "merciless" response over Seth Rogen film on: June 27, 2014, 03:18:15 AM
Funny, they threatened the USA........

SETH ROGEN IS CANADIAN!

lol.. He threatened the producers of the movie, and not the actors. James Weaver is from the US, right? Also Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are Jewish. Kim should threaten to destroy Israel as well.

that would make iran very happy.
1043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Western Union lost 2,000,000+ customers to Bitcoin in 2014 on: June 27, 2014, 03:16:56 AM
2 million customers, with no citation.. definite bullshit. are there even 2 million bitcoin users at the moment?
1044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is used all the time even if you hodl. on: June 26, 2014, 06:46:29 AM
Thats good to know, normally ppl keep saying that if you don't spend your bitcoins it causes affects to its value and I do spend my coins on trading altcoins, purchasing virtual goods etc and gambling but I do hodl to a large extent and don't use/spend unless required.

Hodling Bitcoins causes there to be less coins to buy, which should make the price go up.  Don't be afraid to hodl.

reasonable to say. but i don't like it when people hold/hoard their coins and then say "it's going to take over currency one day."

radiohead - let down.
1046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forbes Article Predicts Bitcoin Value will "Explode" on: June 25, 2014, 09:27:34 PM
The problem with exploding prices is that volatility inhibits usage as people are scared to go in or spend. But increased usage would make the price explode. Not sure how this can be tackled.

Agreed. I can't see Bitcoin going fully mainstream until the price has stabled out. Any guesses on how long that may take?

But with mainstream acceptance, naturally loads more people will be acquiring BTC.  So I would think that would cause value to rise.  Then once acceptance has grown to a large enough level, I imagine the price would stabilize.

in that case, it would be considered more of a speculative asset than an actually useful currency. and that's why i think it'll never be a currency, and if it does become one, it won't be for a long, long time.
1047  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: June 25, 2014, 09:12:02 PM
btw it would be nice if we could cap the posts at 400 per month instead of 100 per week and pay out monthly.. i have no idea how many posts i had for the last week, and how much i have posted since.. and it's kind of a pain having to monitor what my count is. then again, stunna should only be concerned with his own convenience.
1048  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-22] CD: How OpenBazaar is Using Bitcoin to Build a Decentralised eBay on: June 25, 2014, 09:10:10 PM
it's nice and easy to expect things to run for free, but that's not how human nature works. if someone's willing to invest in a technology, then they are expecting to make returns if it is successful. relying on donations just doesn't work - just look at wikipedia and how they are struggling to get by.
1049  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the thinking behind bailouts of large coprorations? on: June 25, 2014, 09:00:32 PM
like others have said, it's corporate welfare. banks have a very strong relationship with washing, since they make so much money that they could funnel a small percentage of it to the politicians and regulators.

banks form these relationships so that they can come out in a win/win scenario. they can take the risk, and if it turns out well.. they end up making out like the thieves they are. and if it doesn't work out? ask your buddies for a bail out as insurance, and you still end up making money.
1050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has a Future, But Maybe Not As a Currency. Do you Agree? on: June 25, 2014, 08:53:38 PM
plus, it's naturally deflationary. doesn't make sense to me.

because you leave with a reasing amount of money every year (salary man ?).
rise of the price is the most stupid of this 150 past years of the humanity (inflation create WAR).

i'm not sure i understand what you're saying. but if you think i'm saying deflation is a bad thing, then i'm not. you just need to understand that a deflationary currency cannot be a world currency.
1051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Breaking News: Every state in USA is now obligated to develop their own currency on: June 25, 2014, 08:50:59 PM
Breaking News: Every state in USA is now obligated to develop their own cryptocurrency.
The few brave American Patriots have identified the Federal Reserve as a private organization for the 13 inbred European Bloodlines of The Terrorist Organization Illuminati.

The Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution was written specifically to keep the 13 inbred European Bloodlines of The Terrorist Organization Illuminati out of America. By the power vested in the U.S. Constitution; each States in America have the right to create their own currency.
St. Louis was the 1st state in the U.S. history to develop their own cryptocurrency for their own citizens to use. Many states in the US are now joining in this currency revolution.

What are you smoking? Also talk about logical falacies, yes lets call them inbred that will make them bad.

you are new here huh? he's a wackjob who is constantly posting about "13 inbred european bloodlines." it is accepted that if he is not a troll, then he is a schizophrenic who spreads around FUD.
1052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forbes Article Predicts Bitcoin Value will "Explode" on: June 25, 2014, 08:45:48 PM
Hasn't it already exploded? I guess articles like this will help gather more interest though.
No, the true explosion has not yet even begun. We are preparing for launch.

Please fasten your seatbelts and keep arms and legs inside the rocket at all times.

yeah, i think it hasn't reached its vertical point yet - it's still way too nascent at the moment. but we don't know for sure if it will even reach the vertical line. bitcoin shouldn't really be compared to twitter or facebook.. it's much, much more complicated and it brings new rules to the game that we've never seen.
1053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has a Future, But Maybe Not As a Currency. Do you Agree? on: June 25, 2014, 05:42:35 PM
if it were used as a currency, the blockchain would be bloated as hell.. plus, it's naturally deflationary. doesn't make sense to me.
1054  Other / Off-topic / Re: TV Series Recommendations... on: June 25, 2014, 05:35:26 PM
Newsroom is pretty good.

it's kind of "eh" to me.. i watch it because it's not that bad. but there's just something about aaron sorkin's writing that just sounds bawdy and pretentious.

Yeah me too. I watch it, but It is definitely not "must see" tv

yeah i don't like the blonde chick.. and olivia munn's character lacks a depth. newsroom is like the coldplay of tv shows.
1055  Economy / Gambling / Re: Predictious.com | The Premier Bitcoin Prediction Market | Trade & Win Bitcoins! on: June 25, 2014, 06:50:27 AM
looking to learn how this works.. can you tell me why there's such a large discrepancy between sell orders and buy orders? in every event, the sell is always less than the buy.. seems like people don't want to sell their shares.

If buy was lower than sell, anyone could buy immediately and re-sell for a risk-free profit. You cannot have the buy price lower than the sell price as we would match the lowest buyer with the highest seller and create a transaction so the order would disappear immediately.

Here are examples on how Predictious work:
Buying: Let’s say you are buying a long share at 4 mB. You are paying immediately 4 mB to buy the share. If your bet is correct, you receive 10 mB, so your profit is 6 mB. On the other hand, if you lose your bet, your loss is 4 mB.
Selling: Now, let’s say you are buying short shares (selling at 4 mB per share). You are receiving 4 mB per share since you are selling, but we’ll take a 10 mB deposit per share in case you lose your bet. So you are effectively paying 6 mB per share to short sell at 4 mB. Then if you win your bet, you’ll get back your 10 mB deposit, so you will have made a 4 mB per share profit. On the other hand, if you lose your bet, you will not get the deposit back, so you will have lost 6 mB.

You can find more details about this here.

Don't hesitate if anything is still unclear.

well, i'm saying buy should be less than sell. all i'm saying is that there is a significant margin to sell, so it's discouraged. for example, hilary clinton to win presidency is 4.14 for buy, and 3.38 for sell. that's something like a 20% difference.other events are almost 2:1 ratio buy:sell.

on top of that, i'm a little hesitant to make a bet for the 2016 elections.. that's 2 1/2 years away and you guys are a relatively new startup.

Ok got you. For the elections, note that you don't need to wait 2.5 years to re-sell your shares, you can re-sell whenever you want and lock profit earlier.

i don't think you get it.. of course i know you can sell your shares. but the the parity between the buy and sell are so much that you're better off just holding it until it expires.

right now, it's 1.43 for rand paul to win US presidential election 2016.. and sell is at .7. let's say his odds get better and reach 2.00.. well, if the sell holds at that rate, i'd only get 1.00 from a sell. i will have paid 1.43 and received 1.00.. even though his odds have increased.

why is there such a big gap? are there not enough users to create for the market corrections?
1056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think satoshi expected bitcoin to be this big? on: June 25, 2014, 06:48:19 AM
He may of made it  as a little side project just to have fun with or show his friends,

Or maybe he developed it to show off to huge multinational companies so he could make a profit.

But... Do you think satoshi expected bitcoin to have this much of a following?

he didnt make it just for fun

he didnt do it to show of a profit.

he did it because he hated th whole government financial status.. (see the quote in the genesis block) thats his inspiraction.

and with less then 0.02% of population using it.. this is not the exiting day to ask such a question, bitcoin is still small.. ask again in a couple years

you can say it's small, but it's not.. almost everyone you know probably knows about it in some form. maybe it's still early, or maybe it's not.. you don't know if bitcoin will still even be here in the years to come. it's not for certain.
1057  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Bitcoin Lottery Win 0.3 bitcoin on: June 25, 2014, 06:45:16 AM
there are already gambling sites available for this.. i doubt you're going to win the trust of people anyways.

I don't understand what anyone is trying to accomplish by voting.

Same poop, different asshole.

word. the guys here seem very republican. i however can't get behind anyone.. they're all shit. and even if they are people who truly want to make a change, they can't be honest and get to the white house. what i see in red/blue people is that they start off with a position and then look for evidence that supports it. totally backwards to me.

Lost, best tv show ever made
then breaking bad, dexter (first 4 seasons), prison break (season 1 only)

the finale for lost sorely disappointed me.. and dexter too. i'm probably not in the minority here. dexter was bad after season 4, cuz they changed producers.
