you know, when i have to explain what bitcoin is to someone, i'm not going to say it's decentralized.. because that's the wrong description. it just shifts the balance from the bureaucratic federal reserve to.. mining pools. there's still someone somewhere with the ability and power to call the shots or affect the direction of bitcoin. Am I the only one who thinks we should actually try a 51% attack on Bitcoin and see if it actually works? This will finally dispel the stupid myth or find a fix for it if it turns out to be real, it's not a good idea to leave a big problem unchecked. To be frank though, a lot of this reminds me of the whole black hole scare where people who knew nothing about science were running around in a panic about what some idiot teacher in a high school came up with and of course in the end, nothing happened.
people would be up in arms if it worked.. bitcoin would crash big time, imo. when whales find out about it, at least, they'll probably considering dumping their coins.

It's pretty sick that as a member of the European Union it's nearly impossable to even afford to rent (not even own, rent) a home with a moderate wage. Not even a big home either, just a crappy 1 bed 1 bath type of home is already terribly expensive.
Have you tried getting a job? The problem is even a decent job is barely enough to rent a shared student apartment. That's just ridiculous. It's close to impossable for a single person to rent a home on a regular income. I need to live in Hampshire for my training to become air traffic controller, and during the training you get only £12.000 annually plus £60 per week for expenses. Now try finding a home for that price, while leaving yourself enough cash for food and clothes. After I finished training wages would become better but even than housing would require a big cut out of my salary. It's just insane how a few decades ago you could buy a home for about 3 times your annual income and now you can barely even rent a home even when you spent your entire income on just rent. Im looking at living in a motorhome or on a boat. Fed up with renting, dont want to buy at these prices. If i was single i would just live in a converted van, the freedom and money saved is awesome - see youtube. I rent a detached house now in a nice area and i will be glad to be rid of it. High maintenance, high cost, rubbish. yeah, motorhomes aren't even that bad.. it just has a bad reputation since people refer to them as "trailer trash." thes ones that i have seen weren't that bad really.

when you are in a situation like this, would you consider it a bad day since you got a spear that ran right through your body, or a good day because you got a spear that ran right through your body... but you survived?

louie is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows.. god damn, i love louis ck! it's such a breath of fresh air, very comedian-esque in that it takes a serious look into the fucked up shit we do, but in a funny way.. well, at least most of the times.

eh, i'll choose to wait and see.. if we start to expect this to happen, how do you think we'll feel when it doesn't? at $4k per coin, i would have some financial freedom to make a change in my life.. i'm hoping for it, but i'm not going to expect it to come by the end of next month.

This is very convincing for me: We never have and never will participate in any 51% attack or double spend against Bitcoin. Still, we are against temporary solutions, which could repel a 51% threat. Leave them alone. They are the biggest mining pool out there, and they have played their part in supporting Bitcoin (through relaying transactions). No need for any bad blood. not sure if you are being sarcastic or whether you are serious, but..

Real estate and renting is the upper middle class' get quick rich scheme.
This is how capitalism work. Buy essential products and rent it out. yeah, but capitalism is also banks allowing subprime mortgages to people who cannot afford houses and too ignorant to balance their budget.

i think this is the most satisfying non-laker championship run i've ever experienced. i think this spurs team is probably my favorite ever (outside of the lakers), and it's not just because they won.. but it's about the character all the players have, and how everyone was in it together and cared for each other. also, winning this after losing to miami last year it that much more satisfying.
pop is not only one of the best coaches in any sport, but he's also a great dude.. even if he's in your face half of the time.
in the end, i kinda wish i could trade the the lakers 2010 championship team for the spurs roster this year. i wish i could be a bigger spurs fan, damnit. even stone-faced tim duncan started tearing up, and kawhi leonard smiled.

That must be China, just by probability and country's population. The youtube views of that PSY guy are just by probability and country's population.
what are you even tlaking about? PSY is south korean. and china's government is not friendly to bitcoin, so how is it that china will have the most amount of bitcoin users?

hiding probably won't work.. they'd probably have the technology to know where everyone was at any point in time. what i'd do is sell out the human race, and offer my services as their agent

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what is the first question you would ask, if you met Satoshi Nakamoto?

reading all of these questions.. i see that the majority of them are lame and brainless.. so i see no reason why satoshi would come back to do any interviews, as the questions people want answered will not help the community grow or be of any real benefit.
my only 1 question would be. 'if you returned to the github to continue coding bitcoin, what would you change to make bitcoin better now that you have seen what bitcoin has moved to, after 3 years of absence.'
not all of us are daft.. i am curious about who he is and what his values are. he's hailed as a demigod on here, but we don't know for a fact that he didn't invent bitcoin for his own wealth. he could be the saint that we have painted him out to be, though.

Everyone is using this article as an example to prove that only crooks are involved in Bitcoin.
This is something that I don't think the Bitcoin community should get involved in. This is very similar to tax evasion. When people start using bitcoin for evading taxes at that level governments will put more effort into trying to regulate and hurt it i think it's going to happen either way. i know everyone says fiat provides people with the same advantages as btc (to evade taxes and do otherwise seedy things), but bitcoin provides a unique quality to do these things.

I call the Burning Man festival a type of paradise because large numbers of people gather in a free environment and there is rarely violence or unwanted aggression between people. ...after partying for a while, it begins to feel empty for me....
Partying is optional, it is a place where you don't need 'help' to feel good. i've met a few people who have been, but i have not been to one myself. maybe someday. it's too late to get some tickets now though huh? i hear it sells out really fast.

that's cool and all, but he's selling it as a tropical paradise? as far as i know, there is no such thing as a paradise on earth.. wherever you go, you'll find humans doing shitty things to each other and misery that comes along with it.
Is there a paradise on earth? One week per year in the hot desert you will find a type of paradise, started years ago by a Libertarian. At the "Burning Man" festival you will not find hardly any "humans doing shitty things to each other". i don't think there is a paradise on earth, because in the realm of earth.. shitty things can happen to you, and great things can as well. for me, living in a start of partying is not heaven. after partying for a while, it begins to feel empty for me. i was once in pattaya (thailand), where horny dudes had shirts that said "forget heaven, i'm going to pattaya when i die). you'd have to ignore the starving lady with 2 kids living on the street corner, begging for money.. or you'd have to ignore the 70 year old dudes who are trying to hang onto their youth by having a 20 year old in his arms.
