i think this happened because democrats are allowed to vote in the republican primaries.. if this is the case, i'd look for the republican to change that rule.

I heard the winner was against amnesty for millions of illegals and Cantor supported it, which is something that wouldn't appeal to too many Dems, but... If they thought getting rid of Cantor makes it easier to win in Nov, then that makes sense.

i read on huffington post that some democrat, who was an actor on dukes of hazard, urged democrats to vote against cantor.. just as a "fuck you." and apparently it worked? duno, i'm looking it up now, because that doesn't make sense.

damn, the poll showed a 34% lead by cantor.. i guess polls are not entirely accurate, especially for smaller elections.

ha, i heard it was due to a democrat (i forget his name) who encouraged democrats to vote for the tea party guy.. forgot that you could do that in some primaries.

reminds me of when michelle bachman needed $20 million to beat some democrat who had something like $1 million in finances.

Game 3 tonight Smiley.   Should be a good one.   Game 4 is always the most important game of the series, because it puts someone up either 3-1 or ties the series at 2-2.

Good thing that Miami stole one in San Antonio, but the Spurs also play really well on the road...

21 point lead at halftime.. if spurs win this one, i think they will take it in 6.. miami might be gassed out. if it weren't for those 3 pointers by shard, miami would be in deep doo-doo right now.

all the spurs need to do now is play good defense and score 45 points in the 2nd half.. miami will not likely score more than 66 points in the 2nd half.

Wow...only the best shooting percentage in a first half of NBA finals ever...  Jesus...lol

i hope miami claws back, but ends up spending a shitload of energy.. and spurs get by winning it by single digit points.

it'll be doom for miami towards the end of the series, especially since wade has already faced a noticeable decline  Grin

it also looks like eric cantor faced a defeat by a tea party guy without major financial backing.. this might be big news, since cantor is basically the 2nd in command for the house.

1468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Coming Digital Anarchy (must read!) on: June 11, 2014, 12:44:01 AM
digital anarchy? the cable companies, at least in the U.S., are basically decoupling themselves from net neutrality laws.. they are going to become absurdly powerful.
That kind of blatant tyranny could be just the kind of spark the sleeping citizens need...

They will destroy themselves. As alternative options grow we don't need the dinosaurs anymore.

are you talking about the ISP companies? if this net neutrality issue continues, i really hope google, netflix, amazon, and other companies that rely on the internet band together to expand a fiber optic network that would destroy them.
1469  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iraq's second largest city, Mosul, captured by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria on: June 11, 2014, 12:41:02 AM
Not surprised by this, after all the entire country is comprised of cowards.

They Won't fight, they drop their weapons and shed their uniforms when confronted but yet they are brave enough to stone women to death.

Cowards.

uh, good job generalizing a nation of people. america can do no wrong and iraqis are a bunch of freeloaders, right?

Cut the cable LONG time ago, Netflix, Amazon prime and alluc.tv everything I want to watch when I want to watch it.

i don't know what that has to do with this topic. it's not about cable tv. it's about high speed internet, and how verizon is playing fascism with netflix.

I think he is referring to the general trend of moving away from large providers. Verizon also provides television FIOS so in a sense they could be thought of as a cable company.

I was referring to the trend, Roadrunner is common where I live aka time warner. Think they want me watching netflix or the 60$ dollar a month cable they offer?

i pay $55 a month for TWC as well.. i really hate them, but att uverse is my only other option, and they are terrible as well.

Exactly. This is one of the reasons they want to restrict bandwidth usage. It was never about slowing the network down for other users.

yeah forgot about that.. they want to force us to pay for cable tv. that's the common trend. people are cancelling their tv subscriptions and just using their internet for watching tv.. which means they can only steal $60 out of your pocket instead of $120, and to make matters worse, it puts more strain on their speeds.

^ i didn't read all that back and forth, but i do think there are a lot of american nationalists who defend america no matter the issue. america is just one fucked up clusterfuck that is tethered to every other developed country.

it's kind of like propaganda that we spit out about "defense." yeah, we have to invade iraq for the sake of defense.. it's not for oil/money, power and influence over other countries, but just "defense." and if you question it, you get called unpatriotic.. that's the kind of bullshit that you see on fox news.
1473  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Feminists Freak Out Over Suggestion Women Learn Self Defense to Avoid Rape on: June 10, 2014, 07:15:45 PM
i don't think a beauty pageant should be considered a "feminist," especially when she is objectifying her beauty/physical body for money and fame. these ladies are pretty, and that's all they are.. so ridiculing them for their "beliefs" is a moot point.
1474  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your plan in case of an alien invasion on: June 10, 2014, 07:13:24 PM
We naturally use our ego, fear, instinctively, so some would classify as that type.

Though we have the ability to consciously kill our ego and tap into our soul to transcend beyond normal human consciousness.

Aren't they both aliens though?

for someone who talks about killing the ego, it's sure funny that you go around proclaiming that you are god, or neo "the chosen one," from the matrix. then again, when something comes out of your mouth, all logic goes out the window.

You're the one doubting it, so who has the ego?

Stating the state of what is does not proclaim pride or boasting of my ego.  I'm just aware that I'm in that position.  I believe we are all equal and may take our own role of neo at anytime.

@DANK

Looking forward to listening to your music once I get on break Smiley

Thank you sir!  Means a lot to hear that, I've been deprived of motivation recently.

doubt something does not make you egoistic.. where is your logic? i don't know what to say.. if you call yourself god, or "the chosen one," that just means you are an egoistic lunatic.
1475  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Coming Digital Anarchy on: June 10, 2014, 07:12:15 PM
Anarchy does have its drawback.

Don't forget scammers thrive in this kind of environment.

Even without government, there is the majority of people... Scammers would be dealt with.

How so? Look at how badly bitcoin has dealt with scammers. A lot of people who were once Anarchists or sympathetic to the cause are no longer after seeing the reality of bitcoin.

People make mistakes. And then people learn.
Look at all the threads here in the Marketplace. People don't get scammed as easy as they used to.

There's a saying: "If you burn yourself with hot water, you'll be careful with the cold water too."

despite that, there is still a large market for scammers, as every day there are more and more bitcoin adopters.

wasn't this inevitable.. from the day that obama decided to withdraw troops? i'm not saying this is on obama though, but this is just the consequence of a very hard decision he had to make.

even if i could be immortal, i wouldn't want to be. who would really want to? aside from the fact that you'd outlive all your friends and family, it would just suck to exist as myself.. for a long, long time. i rather just flame out and die, as scary as that is.
1478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Coming Digital Anarchy (must read!) on: June 10, 2014, 05:56:16 PM
i don't know if that's quite enough.. the major ISPs already have a strong connection with lobbyists in washington.. and probably with the FCC as well.
Blockbuster video had strong connections with the rich and powerful too. So did the newspaper industry. So did the FAX industry. So did the Nazis, for that matter.

what did blockbuster need lobbied? and how strong was their connection? because i know one thing: ISPs have been lubing politicians for a long, long time now. and it's not just one, but 5 or more big ISPs that can throw tons of money at them. they have so much sway that they are now removing net neutrality laws, which gives them even more power.
1479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Coming Digital Anarchy (must read!) on: June 10, 2014, 05:49:31 PM
Google will come to our rescue.

the cost for installing fiber optic connections is currently too expensive for google to make any significant splash.
If the major ISPs get their way, you will find many wealthy people suddenly willing to throw massive funds at google to make cost a non-issue. I am one such person.

i don't know if that's quite enough.. the major ISPs already have a strong connection with lobbyists in washington.. and probably with the FCC as well. google can end up winning the fight though, but they'd have to go up against comcast/time warner/verizon/att/cox.. that's a pretty big task there.

http://www.vice.com/read/how-effed-are-nukes

after effects of major nuclear bombing.. if you look at the pics from kazakhstan and chernobyl, it's kind of a turn off. kazakhstan's current issue is that they are unable to quarantine the affected people, so they are interbreeding with the non-affected people and making babies with serious issues.

What you do want to do with affected people? Do you want to euthanize, imprison or sterilize them? Strip them with their basic rights to interbreed?

they should be quarantined and live in their own areas.. letting people mix like that could lead to catastrophic disaster in the kazakhstani society. it's not convenient doing that to a group of people, but it's for the greater goods.. and sometimes it just has to happen that way.
