1221  Other / Off-topic / Re: Awesome Bitcoin shirt! $9.95 on: June 17, 2014, 07:24:21 PM
what's the point of the shirt, why is it in different fonts? if there's no reason for it, i wouldn't buy the shirt. there also needs to be a logo as well.
1222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Argentina Debt Crisis: U.S. Demands 1.5 billion cash (Bitcoin to Rescue?) on: June 17, 2014, 07:22:06 PM
wait, why is it extortion on debt? if you owe the money, then you have to pay it.. no? can't blame a debt collector from collecting debt.
1223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MINERS UNITE! Block the FBI coins. Do not fund violent underground organizations on: June 17, 2014, 06:53:35 PM
this just reminds me of extremist factions fighting other extremist factions, with no chance for conflict resolution or peace.
1224  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran actress scandal?? on: June 17, 2014, 06:49:56 PM
anyone remember when this happened to richard gere in india? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5wzUZsMdE4

i don't think it's an issue isolated to muslim countries only.

1226  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Are bitcoin gambling sites illegal in USA? on: June 17, 2014, 06:37:30 PM
as long as sheldon adelson is around, it will probably be very illegal to gamble online. instead, he wants you to gamble at his casinos, so he can make more money off of it. http://www.forbes.com/fdc/welcome_mjx.shtml
1227  Economy / Speculation / Re: does the bitcoin community trust GHash ? on: June 17, 2014, 06:33:49 PM
Relax they are back down to 32%.

No.

Every "relax" lead to a come back.

yeah this is what i was gonna say. always be paranoid when a company has that much potential to control what happens to your assets. i'm always on edge when it comes to something like this. the moment you relax is the moment someone can get aggressive.
1228  Other / Off-topic / Re: Watch dank fly on: June 17, 2014, 06:31:24 PM
you really crave attention and adoration, don't you dank?
1229  Other / Politics & Society / Re: GOP: Obama's Failed Economy after 5 Years on: June 17, 2014, 06:06:29 PM
there are a lot of republicans around here, more than i thought would be. i dislike republicans more than i do obama, but i definitely don't like obama for a lot of reasons.. privacy concerns, expansion of government, foreign policy, bailing out wallstreet, appointing a cable exec to be head of the FCC..
1230  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your Bitcoin wish? on: June 17, 2014, 09:17:18 AM
my wish is for it to reach a level where i don't have to worry about my finances.. it would bring a relief to me, not having to worry in the back of my mind how i'll survive.. which means no need to even want a job
1231  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: June 17, 2014, 09:13:46 AM
I can't see why any Members or Full Members would join that campaign. Doesn't make any sense to.

The per post pay rate is low, but there is a 10% ref bonus.
So, people may join it, if they have confidence to really draw people to the site.

i guess if you are a poster with a lot of clout and a semi-celebrity here, it could work out better for you.
1232  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's talk about how hot Asian girls are. on: June 17, 2014, 09:11:22 AM

i'm sure she is from southeast asia
either Cambodia or Philippines

anyone ever saw asiansexdiary site? Grin

i don't know what it is, but there's something about her that makes me think she's not filipino.. most likely cambodian, or possibly thai.
1233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Merchant's cost of accepting cash on: June 17, 2014, 09:04:13 AM
the question is: why spend bitcoin if it will be worth more in the future?)

Or, why acquire bitcoin in the first place, because it might be worth 999 decillion dollars in the future? At what point do you stop converting your fiat to something you will never use because you're waiting for it to be worth infinitely more?

i think his point was that if bitcoin were ubiquitous like paper notes, and were the main medium of exchange for goods/services, then people would not spend it.. which doesn't help with growth in the economy. it can't be used like the way cash is for that reason.
1234  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: secret opinion of Chinese government on Bitcoin on: June 17, 2014, 08:59:37 AM
isn't it funny that the U.S. is run by billionaires and corporations, while china is run by its totalitarian government? completely different approaches.
1235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the biggestest threats to Bitcoin? on: June 17, 2014, 08:57:11 AM
i think the 51% attack is bitcoin's biggest concern.. because its nature is supposed to be completely decentralized, but if there were a 51% attack, power would be held in the hands of a certain few.
1236  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will girls ever like bitcoin? on: June 17, 2014, 08:55:20 AM
of course girls love bitcoin.. it's basically money, or a means of exchange to get goods or services you like or want. they are just generally not interested in the techy side behind it.. but the thing is, they don't need to.
1237  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: secret opinion of Chinese government on Bitcoin on: June 17, 2014, 08:53:01 AM
The Chinese Gov't has been buying up holdings in BTC for a long time now.   They will ease up on some of the regulations once they feel that they have a large enough holding to give them the sense of control.

This is probably not true.

The chinese government likes to keep control of their currency (that restrict the price their fiat currency trades at in dollars and have restrictive capital controls). Bitcoin would not give them this level of control.

and more specifically, they don't want chinese citizens to move their money out of the country, as they consider this as something that will hurt their economy.

i think the state wants to control everything so badly that it won't accept bitcoin.. because bitcoin makes controlling shit a lot harder.
1238  Economy / Speculation / Re: does the bitcoin community trust GHash ? on: June 17, 2014, 08:48:00 AM
i think these guys are just worried about expanding their business and making money. they don't seem to get what the point of bitcoin was in the first place.
1239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MINERS UNITE! Block the FBI coins. Do not fund violent underground organizations on: June 17, 2014, 08:45:25 AM
if we all block the FBI from making the transaction, wouldn't it make bitcoin more centralized that most people are wanting? doesn't that pose a dilemma then? while i don't like what the FBI has done, i think OP's proposal is a little extremist.

It would not make the Bitcoin network more centralized.

It would make it so that bitcoin would not be fungible. How it is now if you were to go to the marketplace section of the forums and offer to buy a couch (or another good) from a user for 1 BTC, they would accept your offer, you would send the 1 BTC and they would send the couch. It would not matter "which" BTC you sent as the 1 BTC that was sent is exactly the same as any other 1 BTC that any other person/entity has.

If you were to "block" the FBI bitcoin from being transferred/sold then each bitcoin could potentially have a different value. Even if the FBI coins are never sold, your 1 BTC may have a lessor value because they are somehow tainted with an address that is believed to have stolen coins in the past. You would have had absolutely nothing to do with the subject theft but would still suffer.

i'm not sure how your point relates to centralization not being an issue. what i see is this: people who don't like what the FBI is doing (and i am one of them), so they decide to group up and prevent the FBI from doing whatever it wants to do.. this is kind of like a political move too. if bitcoin were truly decentralized, you wouldn't be able to force your will upon them.
1240  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: I want to send you some Bitcoin on: June 17, 2014, 08:41:39 AM
lol op, you know this "one person per country" is probably going to lead to people claiming they are from countries they are not actually from?
