oil industry has injected millions of dollars into convincing people of it. money still buys influence. most of the cilmate change deniers are republicans, and it's not by coincidence.

Wasn't it one such creature that said something along the lines of: god told Noa that there wouldn't be another flood, so climate change can't be a problem. Brilliant.  Roll Eyes

But the truth is I'm not sure it's helpful to put this in the context of republicans versus democrats; perhaps the republicans are the ones taking most of the money from the oil companies, but the democrats are as corrupt as they are, and would probably join in if they could.

oh, i'm not saying the democrat politicians are angels who wouldn't accept money from the oil companies. i'm just saying the republicans do it, because it falls in line with their deny-facts-and-education voting base.

Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) is likley to be elected as the next GOP House Majority Leader. Michele Bachmann is also a possibility, but right now it looks like she is lacking enough support.

michelle bachman doesn't seem to be popular at all. in 2012 she barely won the race for the house seat in minnesota, even though she had a record-breaking $20 million vs. something like $1 against her competitor. all the crazy shit she has said and done in the past has caught up to her. she may be the craziest republican candidate to date.

^ you seem to think of yourself as someone who is entitled to bitcoin.. while putting relatively little effort, and now you are complaining how it's so not easy.. you seem like someone who have a victim mentality, at least to me.

if i remember correctly, democrats were willing to cut a deal if republicans would agree to a steady tax increase in exchange for budget cuts.. repubs/tea partiers were so vehemently against it that they wouldnt even agree to a $10 budget cut and $1 tax increase.

The American working class is already very heavily taxed, when compared to their counterparts in Russia, Mexico or Brazil. And you are favoring further increasing the tax rates?

tea baggers wouldn't even discuss a $10 tax cut for every $1 increase in taxes. the budget and deficits need to be balanced, but teabaggers wouldn't even agree to a major cut and minor tax increase... and you're the one saying that the democrats are the ones who won't even bother to negotiate?

The winner of Game 4 to win the whole thing
My sense is both teams know this, game on!

not necessarily true imo.. if miami wins, it's 2-2 and spurs still have homecourt. spurs are also well rested.

Yeah, like I mentioned earlier, game 4 is always the most important because it either ties the series up, or makes it 3-1 and basically makes it a done deal...

yeah that magic #3 is elusive. there hasn't been a 7 game series where a team has come down from 1-3.. though 2-3 has happened a handful of times, like last year. but yeah, it looks like the heat might be getting melo too, such a cheat team.
1387  Other / Politics & Society / Re: GOP House Majority Leader Eric Cantor Goes Down Hard Tonight!! on: June 12, 2014, 05:47:45 AM
I don't think i could back a tea party candidate though, most of them sound too crazy.

They definitely don't sound crazy when they talk about big government spending, taxes, and immigration. If there is no tea party, then there will be no difference between the Democrats and the Republicans.

they sound crazy when they say crazy shit, as mentioned in the other thread. i don't know how you can defend a "grassroots" party that was funded by the koch brothers.

and apparently cantor had $5 million against his challenger's $100k to spend on the campaign.. funny how having 50x the amount he has doesn't guarantee a win.

this is kinda cool in that if you are an artist, you don't need no record label.. you can just set up your website and provide these songs. just remove the middle man.
1389  Other / Off-topic / Re: How, in the end, do you think the world will end? on: June 12, 2014, 05:38:59 AM
why can't it be a perfect storm of everything? in the end, it'll probably be due to something that we caused upon ourselves in addition to some natural disaster.

it's really frustrating being poor, and it's really frustrating not knowing how to eradicate it, but before that.. you might need to stop making yourself a victim of bitcoin.
1392  Other / Off-topic / Re: You are possessed by satan on: June 12, 2014, 05:01:11 AM
Human beings' natural instinct is fear.

All emotions stem from one of the following: ego or soul.

Your ego is your sense of fear.  Your sense of division.  It is the part that categorizes and judges every aspect of your life.  It is that part that emits deep anguish and hatred to your fellow peers.  Ego is death.  It is negativity and by very definition is the spirit of satan.

Your soul is your sense of positivity.  Your sense of unity and alignment with the world around.  It is oneness, true peace and love.

Our society operates off a false image of the world.  Our society worships greed, authority and inequality, all of which are derivatives of the ego.

You are indoctrinated to conform with society's strict boundaries since conception.

Human beings have become robots reacting in fear rather than living with the freewill we each hold within us.

We are being farmed for our spiritual energy by lifeforms beyond this dimension.

It is your choice to whom you wish to let control your body and mind.

Be enslaved by your own fear, or be free with infinite peace.

Satan is pulling you down, I am pulling you up.

Choose your fate.

Much love.

aren't you.. basically going against your own word, and fear mongering? if it's all about love, then why are you telling people that they are following satan?

But I'm not looking to blame anybody for anything, that's the point. I don't fault people who are early adopters, that's great I'm happy you have a little security and future, but if I'm trying to get my little piece and I can't because the difficulty is so high and everything is moving and phasing out so fast how is that my fault? I don't have time in the day to look over extensive charts and predict whether or not is profitable to get BTC nor do I have the time really to mine.

I'm just saying, the difficulty should come down, it's ridiculously too high.

maybe just sell your hardware and then buy some bitcoin then?
1394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm a little skeptical of BTC at the moment, thinking of dropping out again. on: June 12, 2014, 04:42:36 AM
sorry but it's your responsibility to decide for yourself.. you know how people around here feel about bitcoin, but ultimately whether you swim or not is up to you; especially if it goes down south, you might end up blaming them.
1395  Other / Politics & Society / Re: CNN national poll: Rand Paul 13%, Bush 13%, Ryan 12%, Huckabee 10%, Christie 9% on: June 12, 2014, 04:38:57 AM
what is the consensus towards tea party candidates here? are you okay with them doing shit that is considered crazy by other dems and repubs?

If they are considered as crazy by the Democrats and the establishment Republicans, then for sure they must be doing something right. Fiscal cliff resulted from the stubbornness of Democrats, who refused to compromise on anything.

if i remember correctly, democrats were willing to cut a deal if republicans would agree to a steady tax increase in exchange for budget cuts.. repubs/tea partiers were so vehemently against it that they wouldnt even agree to a $10 budget cut and $1 tax increase. i remember michelle bachman complaining about freeloaders, yet she gets a ton of farm subsidies for her business.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/glennthrush/1209/Antisocialist_Bachmann_got_250k_in_federal_farm_subsidies.html

besides, tea partiers are crazy for the aforementioned reasons.. you didn't respond to my claims about teabaggers being crazy.

@beetcoin It is a huge story: you posted while I was typing/editing this post.

Has everyone heard about Eric Cantor getting beat in Virginia by a long-shot candidate?
It is a HUGE upset:

1) Cantor is/was a 'rare' house member with national name recognition.
2) He was widely viewed as the next Speaker of The House.
3) The 'tea party guy' wasn't expected to win.

When I have time, I need to check if the winner is a "real Liberty candidate" or just a "tea party" establishment phoney (i.e like Scott Brown, Marco Rubio, etc)

Down goes Cantor!  I gotta hand it to the Repubs.  I'm impressed!  Now it's the Dems turn.  If they can flush sleezeball Chuck Schumer down the toilet I'll be equally impressed.  Not holding my breath for that one though.

And Brat's $200k beats Cantor's $5M! (NBC numbers)  That is the real story here.  Clearly something is going terribly wrong with American style democracy.  If this scary trend continues watch for a 'fix' of some type.  This sort of thing is simply not to be tolerated.

you know who i don't like? harry reid.. that guy is ridiculous. i believe he was hating on the koch brothers, and when someone said compared them to sheldon adelson, he said "it's different with sheldon." that just means he's getting paid by 1 guy and not getting paid by another.

1397  Other / Off-topic / Re: WORLD'S LARGEST GUMMY BEAR!!! MUST SEE!!!!! on: June 12, 2014, 03:22:59 AM
this was on reddit once.. a guy tried to eat the whole gummy bear once, and he started peeing out whatever color the gummy bear was. he didn't feel very well for a while. i'd say it's probably a bad idea to do that.

Really? I'm trying to disguise my laughter, but I'm going to buy one. And then gloriously eat it while peeing out rainbows.

Anyway, do you have a link to the post?

yeah, i can't find it now.. it was a few months ago, and it was posted on youtube too i think.

it might have been this video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h3z93oAGsk

1) What is the real tea party, and what do they stand for?
2) In such an insane world what is "really crazy?"

Edit:
There are two tea parties. The original modern one was started by libertarian republicans in 2007 and the bogus mainstream one was started by the establishment ~1 year later. Any resulting confusing was surely intentional.

2) let's see.. everything that has come out of michelle bachman's mouth? anti vaccination? against the evidence of climate change? sharron engle's abortion quotes? obama muslim/birther conspiracies?

i haven't even gotten started with sarah palin yet. and todd akin.
1399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gamblers bet on Bitcoin for anonymous online wagering on: June 12, 2014, 03:16:37 AM
oh man, this shit would really get sheldon adelson angry. it's going to happen whether i want it to or not, but if it becomes a big problem for adelson, he might push some money towards a republican candidate to at least publicly speak out against bitcoin.
1400  Other / Politics & Society / Re: GOP House Majority Leader Eric Cantor Goes Down Hard Tonight!! on: June 12, 2014, 03:13:09 AM
^Yeah but when you got the likes of Rep Peter King the neocon freaking out about adding another Paul sympathizer into the House and beating one of their Aces, it's a great thing. Major bragging rights plus it helps similar minded other candidates running in their races and giving them a leg up against establishment candidates.

but how do you feel about the tea party candidates? what if they pull off another fiscal cliff, and are successful the next time? it would cause disaster, but maybe we need something like that to shake shit up. i don't think i could back a tea party candidate though, most of them sound too crazy.
