1281  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is it trust system abuse to increase Trust Score by Dabs? on: July 05, 2022, 05:10:55 PM
I added these users to my exclusion list, but they are still on DT (0) anyway. Need 1 more vote.

Way too much work.  Besides, Dabs has been informed about this issue before, and he's well aware that most people find his use of the trust system objectionable.  If he's going to keep padding his inclusions just to make his trust score higher, he's the one that should be excluded.  Who knows, one of those account could turn out to be a really good person to have on DT, but without giving them the chance we may never know.  I would rather exclude those who are misusing the system than those who are coincidentally included by a self-scratcher.
1282  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is it trust system abuse to increase Trust Score by Dabs? on: July 05, 2022, 04:58:56 PM

It's been a while since we've had an update to that list, but with the current monthly fluctuations of DT1, it would probably become more work than it's worth.

Dabs is the most notable notable user on that list, and he keeps bouncing from about 7 to 40 positive feedbacks depending on whether or not he's on DT1.
There are more users who include almost anyone who left them positive feedback. I don't think that's the best way to use the Trust system.

Last time I fell off of DT1 I used the opportunity to clean up my inclusion/exclusion list and for one reason or another I decided to remove Dabs from my exclusions.  Maybe he hadn't been included in DT1 in a while because the number of exclusions?  I don't remember, but I just excluded him again.

I did remove at least one exclusion of a member who was guilty of self-scratching in the past, but he had recently obliterated his trust list so there was no point in keeping him on the list.

Personally, I do see it as an abuse of the trust system, and when I notice a DT member who engages in self-scratching I usually exclude him.   Not because I don't want to see their reviews, but because it strikes me as a lack of critical judgement, or a lack of understanding of how the trust system works.
1283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: importing question on: July 05, 2022, 04:49:58 AM
For redeemscript I used the address as the string, is that correct?

I don't think that will work.  The only way I know of to find the redeemscript is from Electrum.  On the address tab, right click on the address you want and click "Details," here's what I found for the address in your example above:

Using the script below I was able to import your example address.  I used a very recent time stamp to accelerate synchronization time.  If you want to speed up synch time, use a time stamp that's just a few minutes before the first transaction that address received.

Code:
importmulti '[{ "scriptPubKey": { "address": "3E1cyAbo6X3QG8RmpF7vNUn2sWSxaFVZck" }, "label": "The Mureders in the Rue Morgue", "timestamp": 1656995753, "redeemscript": "0014756d4690fa13589cac0d0790178e9562acb18be2", "keys": [ "KyvxDGMHHPf5aomJowLENyHtgpVjbz8gsmmxgbaQ6U2BXfdjp4w2" ]}]'

PS; I like the Edgar Allen Poe references.

I m with windows 11 and i download on 1T hard disk.

Are you sure you have enough space on your hard drive?  Currently the blockchain needs about 471GB, and it's only getting bigger.  Just to clarify, you are using a HDD, not a SSD?  You may have some corrupted sectors on your HDD which are incapable of storing data, the hard drive will attempt to write around them until it runs out of space.

The best way to do it is to launch command line “cmd” and then add “-reindex” option to the command.

That won't work on Windows.  There is a way to do it from the command line, but since the OP is using Bitcoin QT it's easier to just use the built-in console.  Open Bitcoin GUI, click on "Window" in the top menu, then click on "Console" (or press CTRL+T,) then type reindex and hit enter.

Not a small part of me wishes Lauda, Vod, TMAN, and probably a few other members that aren't coming to mind would return

I never really clicked with Lauda, but I do miss his influence.  At least one member who's been absent and missed has recently returned; nutildah is back.

I miss Vod and TMAN.  I'm convinced that TMAN was IRL John Wayne's alt, but age finally caught up with him.

I also miss sparring with Tecshare.

Our hero is back with his main account and on top of the usual cringe (praising Lauda etc) he now started begging:

Patronage: Tip nullius for his contributions.

Also tried to tag-team WO with his sockpuppet account but then deleted the post: https://loyce.club/archive/posts/6049/60497274.html

Lol, total scammer tactic; self-moderated thread, and locked too, of course.  Why does it remind me so much of the "donation segment" of those televised mega church sermons?  For only $2 a day GAAAWWD will come into your LIVES, and SHOWER you with his LLLLLOOOOVVVEEE!!!!  Hehe!

Curious, does the nullster promise his contributors a sermon every Sunday?
1287  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ThomasV public key Electrum on: July 03, 2022, 08:35:02 PM
I’m trying to download the update for the Electrum 4.2.2 wallet from Electrum web page. There is a Thomas V public key publish there that you might find in this link https://raw.githubusercontent.com/spesmilo/electrum/master/pubkeys/ThomasV.asc. If I import this key into my Kleopatra signature manager, it looks as it imports it, but then I cannot see it in my list of imported signatures. If I try to look it up on server it does not find it. I’m following instructions in this link: https://bitzuma.com/posts/how-to-verify-an-electrum-download-on-windows/.
This signature is now completely different from the one is published in old posts (0x2bd5824b7f9470e6). New ThomasV public key is a lot longer.
Anybody knows any other way to verify my Electrum 4.2.2 installer? It seems that my Gpg4win for Windows OS does not work at all. Do you know any other signature manager reliable software?

Could it be that you don't have all the keys being displayed?

You can also open a powershell terminal and use the following command, it'll display all the keys in your keyring:
Code:
gpg -k

The key server issue tells me you're using an outdated version of GPG4Win, check for an update.
1288  Economy / Reputation / Re: Goodbye, world! on: July 03, 2022, 05:50:12 PM
I don't think Lauda is gone.  I believe he's still around and has done a great job keeping his new identity from being discovered.  Even at the end it seemed to me that he loved this forum, and loved it too much to just give up.  The "goodbye" post was surprising only in the way that I should have expected it.

I think the "Lauda" account just got too burdensome with all the baggage.  Most people would find all that drama distracting, I know I would.  Maybe he just wanted to start fresh, without all the distractions.
1289  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] trez0r.io (phishing website)!!! on: July 02, 2022, 07:46:17 PM
This phishing website looks almost identical with original Trezor website and they even have links to original trezor github page.
One difference I noticed is when I click ''I already own Trezor'' because you can't download Trezor Suite software.
I would suggest everyone to use only original Trezor Suite and avoid web version scams like this.

I never liked the trezor.io or beta web apps, personally.  I was always afraid they were a phishing risk just waiting to happen.  Trezor Suite is pretty good, lots of control, and it's handy if you have some shitcoins floating around.  Obviously it's much less likely to result in a phishing attack, and therefor safer than the webapp.  Personally, I still prefer to use Electrum to access my Trezor wallets.
1290  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: I am panicking on: July 02, 2022, 06:53:04 PM
There's a hardware difference between volatile memory and non-volatile memory. You can't really make something that has the properties of non-volatile memory, but if chosen can lose the data like a piece of volatile memory does.

That's what I thought, but I would only be making assumptions about the hardware configuration, not my area of expertise.  I guess from a manufacturing perspective it wouldn't make sense to use non-volatile storage when volatile storage would do what you want without having to bother programming piece of code to get it done.  Not to mention that any difference in price between the two is likely negligible considering how little capacity is needed.

As for BitcoinGirl.Club's panic attack; The Trezor and it's clones have open source hardware, which is partially why they are vulnerable to this attack vector
From what I can tell from the video, that's not what makes the wallet vulnerable. Kingpin did use the firmware source code (software!) to identify a flaw. To identify that there's a point in time where the secure memory is transferred to secure memory.
He then introduced a voltage glitch with a variety of offsets from the device boot, and let it run until it 'hit' the right spot and could freeze it in just the right moment & read out the seed.
Being open-source hardware didn't really make this attack easier, since such a 'brute-force' approach will work with other wallets too, if they have such a flaw in the source code.

Open source software, thanks for the correction.

Even worse, if you own a device whose firmware source code is closed, someone could gain access to the code by bribing a developer or reverse engineering a firmware file; use it for evil and nobody would be notified about it.

Now that's scary.  Assuming the device wasn't compromised along the supply chain, one would still need physical access to the device to attack it this way, correct?
1291  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] trez0r.io (phishing website)!!! on: July 02, 2022, 05:44:16 PM
Thanks for the warning.

If I may make a suggestion; please put the scam sites' link in code brackets, it'll help prevent someone from inadvertently clicking on them.

The one with the "0" instead of the "o" isn't likely to work, the difference is easily noticeable even with my aging eyes.  The .org site is a bit trickier, especially with that funny looking "r".  If that one was coupled with the .io domain extension that would be a hard one to avoid if you didn't take other precautions.

1292  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM EXCHANGE: Openchange (Openchange.cash) on: July 02, 2022, 02:28:10 PM
If you get paid for a job that either shows up directly on a tax return or you are legally obligated to declare it. In other words, the income from your work is not private at all. If you get money for selling a house, for example, neither.

In the European Union, all transactions between member countries that exceed 10,000 euros ($10,400) are automatically reported to the authorities, and those within countries have lower limits, such as 2,500 euros. Those of lesser amounts are obviously registered and available to the authorities if they request the data.

We have similar laws here in the US, cheating on taxes isn't a good idea no matter where you live.  But that's all it's about; i.e. they want to make sure to tax every penny they can.  Recently the Biden Administration announced they want the IRS to be informed every time an American deposits $600 of cash (or more) into their bank account.   Yes, $600!  Obviously that's not about crime or terrorism.

Let's be real, if these same politicians cared about crime they wouldn't be enabling it.  They only care when they can use it as a bludgeon to gain more power, like "Gun Crime."  Just look at all the liberal DA's in major US cities who are decriminalizing drug crimes, thefts of up to $1000, or running over a mother pushing a stroller.  So, if you're a law abiding citizen you better report $600, but if you're a repeat offender you can get away stealing $1000, and possibly attempted murder.

These laws are intended to keep us under their control and afraid.  As for reporting the movement of your money, these laws are sold as an effort to prevent terrorism, or thwart drug cartels, and again I'll point to the politicians' actions rather than their words to decern their real agenda.

There are countries like Italy, Spain or Portugal with a cash payment limit of 1,000 euros, which means that if you want to buy a fucking TV worth 1,000 euros you can not pay in banknotes and your name is registered in the transaction.

This isn't an argument to stop using mixers, this is an argument for a revolution.
1293  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed for 25$ on: July 02, 2022, 01:23:19 PM
@ DireWolfM14

What on Earth is wrong with you. A user just got scammed, warned others about a potential/regular scammer and you are discouraging him from exercising his civic responsibility by alerting others.

If people listen to this your particular advice, only you will remain in bitcointalk forum after driving others away. U should be ashamed of yourself!!!

Well, I'm not ashamed of myself, and you're not going to do or say anything that will change that.  If you had done your research before condemning me you'd know there are no innocents in these shady deals for hacked digital goods.  You might also learn that I tried to help prevent these types of scams in the past, only to be harassed and spammed with scam attempts myself.

If the OP wants to keep dealing in stolen and hacked digital goods, even after being scammed multiple times he's either too stupid to learn his lesson, or too greedy to resist the bait.
1294  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: What do you think about UKISS Hugware? on: July 01, 2022, 11:37:07 PM
Other than looking like a cool pocket knife, this thing is a non-starter.  It has absolutely nothing going for it.  It's closed source, no independent backup, and no recourse against loss or failure of just one of the two required devices, making it a potential loss just waiting to happen.  Of course that's assuming that UKISS isn't keeping all the seeds in a spreadsheet, just waiting for enough wales to use their device.

Saints home kit for the 22/23 season have been released! What do you guys think?

source: https://twitter.com/SouthamptonFC/status/1542063068233945088

~

I like the centered crest also, it's a strong look.  No Sportsbet.io green, but that may throw the color scheme off?  I don't know, I'm a function over form type of guy so I leave the aesthetics to others.  I do love the orbiting bitcoin logo, though.

Hopefully they have a good season. I think top half of the table is definitely achievable, they are better than they were last season. Hopefully bring another couple of players in & they’re good to go.

I hope so too.  I wish the best of luck to all the Sportsbet.io affiliated clubs, especially Arsenal!   Tongue

Go Gunners!
1296  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] DT2 Status; how many net inclusions should it take? on: July 01, 2022, 08:36:22 PM
Currently, if someone has a net 0 number of inclusions (with at least one inclusion), they will be in your trust network, and the only way around this is to manually exclude them.

No, that's not how it works.  No amount of inclusions or exclusions affect my trust network.  Only my inclusions and exclusions have any effect.  If I have my trust system depth set to 1 or (the default) 2, then those who are included by the members I've included will have an effect.  Again, you're missing the point; this proposal has nothing to do with inclusions and exclusions on their own.  It's about those 100 or so members who are on DT1, and the affect their inclusions have on the system as a whole.

There is one thing you are leaving out -- the underlying reason why someone has this power is that many people have included the person in their trust list. Those who are on DT1 is (somewhat) random, and does rotate, however the people who are on DT1 are not arbitrary, they have effectively been chosen by the community to have this power.

Indeed, they have been chosen by a very small minority of the community:

Code:
5034

A little over 5,000 users have voted, and those votes affect the forum's trust system for millions of users.  Not my idea of good representation.  Doubling the threshold for DT2 inclusion isn't going to fix all the abuses from which the trust system suffers, but it'll make it a bit harder to abuse.

Do you think there is any chance that theymos will implement a change in this regard?
This is a very good question. History tells us that there are very little chance for him to do something about it. He must have other priorities 😉

I disagree.  Let's be real, this is theymos' forum and he may disagree with the premise of this thread.  What he chooses to do is purely up to him, but he's been accommodating in the past.  Not long ago I made a stink about all the AWS scammers in the digital goods section, and he responded by banning those sales:

Good find, I had no idea the OP has made a habit of this stupidity.  It's really not helping that he's specifically looking for shady deals, buying stolen, hacked, or cracked digital goods.  What the hell does the OP expect, that he's dealing with up-standing, honest, and legitimate sellers when he's making these kinds of deals?  Only a moron would continue these shenanigans after being scammed so many times.

@Amin.Rezaeian70, I take back what I said.  Maybe you should get the fuck out of here.  Without idiots like you around these petty scammers wouldn't get a single satoshi, and then they would leave too.

What is your fight here?

Attention.  It's how trolls get their nourishment.  Just ignore him, and he'll wither away eventually and become forgotten like the many before him.  Besides, responding to him here is just driving this thread further and further off topic.
1299  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM EXCHANGE: Openchange (Openchange.cash) on: July 01, 2022, 05:05:29 PM
No exchange can confiscate your funds legally without a court order, they can freeze your account for a period but doing so because you have failed KYC would require them to inform the authorities where they operate about this transaction immediately. There is no such thing as these funds look stolen then we freeze it and we unfreeze it the moment you send us a pic of an id, this is illegal on so many levels it doesn't even need to be discussed.
Very well explained. This is what makes "Openchange" look like a scam!

At this point, it looks like Openchange is no different than Freewallet.
1300  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM EXCHANGE MONITOR: BestChange on: July 01, 2022, 05:01:34 PM
We don’t have a notion of a “negative review” on our website, the red marks unsolved financial claims to the service.

Why not?  I've never used your service, but is it an advertising service for exchanges, or is it a service to help customers find an exchange for their needs?  If it's the latter then you should certainly have reviews, if it's the former then you're just shilling for the AML/KYC scammers like Freewallet and your service is absolutely useless.

The icon is obligatory only if KYC is obligatory for every (or for the absolute majority) of transactions. It there are random KYC-check for transactions with high level of AML-risk, we don’t make exchangers set this icon. However, we always urge users to get acquainted with the exchange rules before the operation, after coming to the exchanger’s website.

I won't say this is intentionally misleading, but it's definitely misleading nonetheless.

Please understand that AML does not threaten the integrity of bitcoin ecosystem as such, but it only limits the work with gateways between the traditional financial system and the crypto world.

I'm calling BS on this.  Bitcoin was intended to put individuals in control of their wealth, and take control away from governments and institutions who've bastardized the financial industry to keep masses beholden to their services, and therefor subject to their fees and control.  The fact that we have the commonly used term "Financial Industry"  in our vocabulary is a testament to their bastardisation of money.  What "industry?"  What do they actually produce?  What value do they add to the lives of normal citizens?

Allowing governments and their "financial institution" cohorts to apply their restrictions on bitcoin only allows them to continue their policy of using finances to enslave the populous.
