1161  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wasabi blacklisting update - open letter / 24 questions discussion thread on: July 28, 2022, 03:48:11 AM
Unfortunately, Bisq's twitter admin has stepped into this drama.  Yesterday he retweeted a post that disparaged Samourai Wallet, and many interpreted that as support for Wasabi.  Today he justified his post, which I believe has since been taken down.

The premise of the original tweet is that Samourai/Whirlpool is the FED.  I mean, of course they are.  They're all FED, and if you're smart you'll assume the same.  In fact, the only centralized mixing service that is certainly not FED is Chipmixer.  And I'm not saying that because I'm wearing their signature.  I'm wearing their signature because I believe that.  If you don't believe me, just google "chipmixer" and witness all the scams that pop up in it's place.  That would never happen if they were FED.

Now, I don't want to come off like a right-wing, tinfoil capped nutjob, but the truth is I'm treading a thin line.  Just because I have nothing to hide from the fed doesn't mean I want them to know everything about me.  I have nothing to hide from the FED today, but, I'm old enough to remember and never forget 1994 when the fed turned millions of Americans into criminals as they slept.  They did it with firearms, they can do it with bitcoin.  Your freedom is a threat.
1162  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus wallet balance disappeared! on: July 28, 2022, 02:27:23 AM
Post a lot of screenshots, and the BTC/ETH address will be clearer this way. This is the only way you will understand where your BTC is and where your ETH is

Or, continue to preserve your privacy, and don't.   Roll Eyes

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!  Just received this message, hope it will be sorted shortly.

Order Refund Initiated
We are processing your refund, please expect the notification to your email address.

That's good to hear, glad it worked out for you.  Were you ever able to figure out which exchange it was that received the coins?  I only ask because I like to keep a list of ones to avoid.  Grin
1163  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: I want to exchange USTC (US Terra) for USDT on: July 28, 2022, 02:23:13 AM
I REGRET Huh  Cry  Undecided to inform everyone that I am unable to exchange my UST because the exchange requires a withdrawal fee of 1 UST and a minimum withdrawal amount of 100 UST. Please don't write here on this topic, if someday the exchange removes the withdrawal fee, I will inform you

Since the offer is no longer available, I suggest you lock this thread.
1164  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus wallet balance disappeared! on: July 27, 2022, 12:56:33 PM
Was it ShapeShift or some other instant exchange available from within the Exodus wallet?
I've no idea, sorry

That's what you need to find out.  Again, I've never used Exodus so I can't guide you, hopefully some one here can.  There must be a transaction history that specifies which exchanger your coins were sent to.  Once you know that you can deal with them directly rather than through the Exodus app.
1165  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bisq - Exchange, Decentralized. on: July 26, 2022, 08:13:42 PM
Thanks! I made it myself, promoting a few services that I find important to get more exposure, for free.

I like to think of Bisq as a non-profit, even if they aren't officially registered as such (that I know of.)  As far as i can tell, all their earnings go to pay their developers and support staff, which is essentially how a non-profit operates.  It's noble of you to volunteer your efforts to help out.

Interesting. Do you remember what that other P2P exchange is called?

It's HodlHodl which has a lending service, but again, I've never used it.  There's another p2p exchange that's very similar that gets mentioned a lot around here; Localcryptos.  Localcyrptos claims to employ non-custodial wallets.  Paxful is yet another p2p exchange but I think they and HodlHodl use custodial wallets.  All three resemble Localbitcoins, so maybe they all started with a whitelabel version of the original Localbitcoins site.

I've avoided using these exchanges because AFIK they do require KYC.

That's a pity. Rust is becoming more and more standard for important projects, especially in the Bitcoin space. I don't code in Rust myself, but I find its features and safety guarantees extremely useful.

Thanks for addressing this, I had never heard of Rust language before.  I'll do a little reading about it when I get the chance.
1166  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus wallet balance disappeared! on: July 26, 2022, 03:52:18 PM
In a recent update, you can swap cryptocurrencies within Ledger Live app using FTX.

Yeah, I'm aware of that.  My comment was specifically about FTX's requirements for KYC, and as you can see from crwth's screenshot that he has completed his KYC to their satisfaction.  I don't know which exchange dash0520 chose, but it appears that his issue is that he chose to engage with an exchange that didn't have his KYC at the time the transactions was placed.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I get the feeling that you're missing Pmalek's (and my) point:  The OP's bitcoin is no longer in his wallet, it's been sent to the exchange.  He cannot retrieve it by connecting his Ledger to Electrum.

You are correct that Ledger Live is nothing more than the user interface, but they've also contracted with exchanges, and imbedded those exchanges' APIs into Ledger Live's user interface.  However, no exchange can happen within the Ledger Live app, the coins must be sent to the chosen exchange for the transaction to be completed.  The only difference is that Ledger Live automates parts of the transaction.

In the OP's case the coins were sent to the exchange and now they have locked his fund because they don't have his KYC.

@dash0520, would you mind telling us to which exchange your coins were sent?
1167  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bisq - Exchange, Decentralized. on: July 25, 2022, 09:55:02 PM
But I'm considering designing myself a Bisq profile picture in the future.

Nice avatar you got there, n0nce.  It suits you.

They would have to change a lot of things for sure, but some lightweight version could be created, at least for atomic swaps.
Misq is Bisq next-generation trading protocol, so I am expecting some nice surprises with new release.
There is one video about that release on their youtube channel with more information:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOarJpbg4EY
Thanks for that; I have to check out what all this Bisq 2.0 fuzz is all about! Wink

I'm interested to see what Misq offers as well.  I've heard there'll be a social trading platform, and possibly some a lending platform as well.  Another P2P exchange has implemented a lending platform, but I haven't played with it.  Recently I've been avoiding any services that employ custodial wallets, and especially ones that request my identification.  That's one of the reasons I'm so pleased with Bisq.

I have heard that the bisq team is in desperate need for Java developers, so I'm assuming the Misq will be programmed in Java just like Bisq.  I'm not huge fan of Java, but if it's a stand-alone program it's less of a security risk than java web apps.
1168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: EXODUS WALLET WITH 1.4K USDT on: July 25, 2022, 09:18:45 PM
im selling a exodus wallet with 1.4k$ dollars in TRC20 USDT. (it doesnt have any TRX)
im looking for some bitcoin or ethereum since some guy is selling a rtx 3080 for 1.4k bitcoin or ethereum, i know him in real life and hes one of my best friends

Why don't you give the wallet to your "best friend" in exchange for the GPU?  Oh, right, because he's your best friend and you don't want to scam anyone you actually know in real life.  This looks like a scam in the making, and I would urge anyone to steer clear.  This is just another example of what a clusterfuck Ethereum and all it's shittokens, and all it's derivative shitchains really are.

1169  Economy / Goods / Re: WOODEN VESPA | Accept Bitcoin on: July 25, 2022, 09:06:08 PM
That's a very pretty looking machine, even if it isn't the most practical thing.  Vespas are dogs anyway, and all the added weight is bound to make it even slower.  The wood looks great, it obviously took some skill to form.  I'd be curious to learn how it was formed.  Was it thin laminates that are glued onto a pre-formed structure?

It's made in genuine wood? What kind of wood it is precisely?
The seats are wooden too? It's not much uncomfortable when you are driving for long trips?
Anyway that's a real awesome work, it's stunning.

Let's hope the wood is something that is "marine grade" so that it holds up in weather.  It almost looks like it could be Teak, which would be a good choice, but it could just be the stain.  The saddles look like the original 50's era leather saddles that Vespa used to install on their scooters.  They remind me of my Brookes Saddle that came on my (purchased used) 1969 Raleigh 10-Speed.
1170  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus wallet balance disappeared! on: July 25, 2022, 08:24:45 PM
FTX is now making partnership with a lot of wallets. Recently, it made a partnership with Ledger Live. I wonder if Ledger Live will also try to frozen our coins one day if FTX says so?

AFIK Ledger Live (like Exodus) doesn't conduct any trades within the app.  All exchanges are conducted through an API with a contracted exchange service.  I don't use Ledger Live or Exodus, so I really can't tell you how one service is selected over another, but as for FTX, they do indeed require KYC just to use the exchange.

1171  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus wallet balance disappeared! on: July 25, 2022, 07:44:31 PM
I've had an exchange BTC/ETH frozen a week ago and received an email from Exodus.

Hello there,
We have noticed some exposure to high-risk services on your wallet, and we would need to do a quick verification (KYC).

Since I've done the verification a few months ago, this email  surprised me a lot. Anyway, I've uploaded my data a second time and the wallet balance just disappeared after right away.

The answer is:
Hello there,
Your funds are frozen and will not be shown on your wallet until the verification is not completed or is still ongoing.

I wonder are they logged in into my account and withdraw the money ? Or what is happening?
All my emails now being ignored. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Stop using Exodus, and stop using centralized exchanges.  There have been some recent efforts by centralized exchanges to preemptively comply with regulatory agencies by contracting with blockchain analysis companies.  Blockchain analysis is a joke, and an arbitrary one at that.  Their methods are not coordinated with each other, and findings are inconsistent.  They have no legitimate leg to stand on in their claims.

The regulatory agencies don't care about bitcoin, and the efforts by these greedy blockchain analysis organizations are hurting bitcoin.  Any exchange that contracts with blockchain analysis companies should be considered bitcoin saboteurs, and they don't deserve a single satoshi of your money.

1172  Economy / Lending / Re: 100$ Loan on: July 25, 2022, 06:15:52 PM
I am looking for a loan on the advice of Robert Kiyosaki. Have you read his book? So he was a homeless man and slept on the street with his wife, and did not work. When asked why his don't work? He boldly answered I am looking for a loan. In the end, he found this loan and became a billionaire

Lol, so you're trying to get a loan by informing us that you want to emulate yourself after well known scammer?  Robert Kiyosaki is a lying piece of shit who preys on the insecure, the lazy, and the greedy.  Not to mention, the story you relayed sounds like utter bullshit, and probably one his many lies.

In 2010, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation did an exposé on scams that were being perpetuated by Kiyosaki's company in Canada in the guise of seminars. Upon tracking the success claims of "Rich Dad" seminar organizers, they discovered that these claims were not true. Investments in trailers and trailer parks, which were being propagated as "successful" by seminar teachers, were found to actually be barren pieces of land that no one was using.

I think it's high time you come to grip with reality; you're never going to get a loan from this site.  And, it's no one's fault but your own.  If you had put as much effort into contributing to this forum as you've put into trolling it, maybe someone would have taken a chance on giving you a $100 loan.  But, it's pretty obvious that ship has sailed.

1174  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wasabi blacklisting update - open letter / 24 questions discussion thread on: July 24, 2022, 04:48:53 PM
It's possible that some Wasabi developers do believe in fungibility and oppose blacklists, but are overruled by a slight majority within the team. I have no idea, I'm just trying to give them a little 'benefit of the doubt' and making sense of this mess they've put themselves in. At the same time, I'm the first to point out issues and as such created the 24 questions and this whole thread, of course.

I'm not sure it's as innocent as you describe it, but I do hope I'm wrong.  I'm starting to grow a significant amount of distrust for this development team, and their continued use of the word "fungibility" is starting to sound calculated and sinister.  Could it be that they are trying to drive a narrative by saying obviously ignorant things like "fungibility is an essential property of good money"?  What is bad money?  If it's money it's fungible regardless of how many strippers' thongs it has visited or lines of coke it has ducted.  It's neither good nor bad, it's just money.

Bitcoin is fungible with or without Wasabi.  They are not assisting in any of the fungibility properties of bitcoin but blacklisting can only hurt.  They must know this.  I cannot reconcile the idea that they are so skilled as developers, yet so ignorant to not understand the meaning fungibility.

I'm saying it's a possibility. I remember the days Zuckerberg said the users came first. Then, he got rich Tongue
Absolutely. Remember when Brave started and was being hailed as the next big privacy browser. Then ad companies paid them to whitelist their ads, so they did. Then Facebook paid them to let all their trackers through, so they did. Then Binance paid them to inject their code in to the browser, so they did. As soon as most people get offered money, then morals and principles quickly go out the window.

Brave is a good example, but to this day I don't know if they truly valued integrity at first, or if was nothing more than a brilliant marketing ploy.

Could it be many of their users don't even know and simply believe the privacy claims?
Absolutely. They make deliberately misleading statements on their documentation which suggests that they are still anti-censorship, while making absolutely no mention whatsoever of their blacklists. They outright lie, such as the statement that they have "solved fungibility". Their website makes absolutely no mention anywhere of censorship, blacklists, blockchain analysis, etc. It is a deliberate campaign of misinformation to keep their users in the dark about what they are actually doing.

Agreed, they certainly aren't making a big deal about blacklisting, nor making much of an effort to address the criticism.  I think they're hoping that if they just ignore it (us) the whole thing will just go away.  Even in the blogpost where they spilled the beans, they gaslight the ramifications by describing it as a "debate" and "for the greater good."  I'm sure they're banking on the fact that many people won't know about the blacklist, and that many of those who do won't understand the greater implications.  Just look at the other posts on their blog, they still portray themselves as the authority on private use of bitcoin.
1175  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mycelium Wallet Promoting Scam Bookies 1xbit.com on: July 24, 2022, 01:53:26 AM
~

A lot has been learned about 1xBet since I made those comments.  I no longer have the confidence to stand behind those words, so I updated my original post to strike out that comment.  I don't use either site, but I've been told that the sites are nearly identical barring cosmetics and branding.  There are also many scam allegations against 1xBet in the last year.  I don't know that they are affiliated, but they seem to behave similarly.

True, I forget not everyone has the skillz. Tongue

Oh, so now you're going to get nasty?!?!  I see how you are!   Tongue

Meh, it's not about the skills (or lack there of.)  I know I could set up specific hardware, a VM, or a container specifically for the purpose if I really cared that much.  Or deal with streaming over tor...  Realistically, I get a lot of use out that evil service; sports of all kinds, not just football.  It's not cheap by any stretch, but it's a only a little more than half of what a typical cable package would cost if it included the same level of sports programs.  And it's nice to be able to reliably watch the Niners whenever I want, not just live if I choose.  The cost of convenience, I guess.
1177  Economy / Reputation / Re: LoyceV using their authority is trying to falsely accuse me of scamming on: July 23, 2022, 05:20:52 PM
Are the red flags gone? I don't know what happened to them! Maybe it's a forum database failure or something! I don't even know what happened to them.

Stop the moron act.  Why did you delete them?

Why are you reminding me of this? You are involved in this, right?

Of course I'm involved.  The Pharmacist and LoyceV are my alts.  Why do you think I'm trying to convince you they're different people?

Then why did LoyceV himself admit this and describe many points?

Why do you act dumb and pretend that obvious sarcasm isn't?

I know you attempted a stupid scam but I also know you're not as stupid as you look.
1178  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 4.2.2 Released on: July 23, 2022, 05:06:40 PM
Thanks, guys, for your fast reply. My Electrum wallet only opens on the USB Drive in Linux. So I will try to download the Linux upgrade directly on the USB drive and transfer the file to the Electrum wallet. Hope I understand this correctly?  Undecided
If you have a seed phrase from an Electrum wallet, as far as I know, you can use it for a new Electrum wallet.
If you are unsure about reformatting your old USB Drive, try using another USB Drive and install the updated Linux along with the last update Electrum wallet. Create a new wallet using the seed.

This is actually what I do when I want to interact with a cold wallet.  It's rare that I need to interact with my cold funds, so I don't save any trace.  I don't even save the OS once I'm done.  Installing a fresh, minimal version of Ubuntu doesn't take long, and the seed is all that's needed to sign transactions.

The only disadvantage of restoring from seed is that the seed phrase doesn't store data for labels assigned to transactions and addresses, or any frozen coins and addresses.
1179  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wasabi blacklisting update - open letter / 24 questions discussion thread on: July 23, 2022, 03:22:38 PM
I honestly can't wrap my ahead around what is going on here. They are either so completely out of touch with all things privacy that they genuinely have no idea TikTok is spyware, or they are aware of this fact but the just don't care at all. Which is worse?

How does anyone involved in cryptocurrency to the level of developing a "privacy wallet" not know the implications of using this particular app?  I thought everybody knew that TikTok was CCP spyware.  The former president of the US attempted to block them from operating their service in the US, and settled on the ByteDance (the parent company,) creating a service specifically for the US and storing all the data on US servers (it's worth noting that the current administration has reversed those restrictions.)

I am of the opinion that blocking UTXOs based on arbitrary taint-proclamations was a really stupid move, but I never thought of the Wasabi development team as stupid.  I mean, they're software developers, how can they be this stupid?  Right?  It makes me think they are in the "don't care" phase and are just trying to shill their wallet in any way they can, without any real concern for their clients' privacy.

Wasabigate keeps getting muddier and murkier.
1180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: July 23, 2022, 03:05:45 PM
But apparently Game Pass is only letting you watch the games after they are over from now on?

Hmm...

I signed up for Game Pass once upon a time, and that's how it worked in those days.  They didn't want to compete with local broadcasts so they would have a live broadcast of at least one game out-side the local market, then let you watch all the games a couple of hours after they ended.  One thing I really liked about it was the "Game Film" version, which cut the broadcast down to around 50 minutes.  To accomplish that they cut everything out except for two seconds before each snap to two seconds after each play was over.  I don't know if they still do that, it's been over a decade since I used the service.

It should work on wifi, I didn't know you could watch all the nfl games on the nfl app. I thought it was only highlights and replays.
Not all games I think, just the "local" ones on Sunday but I found that using a simple location spoofing app I can pick pretty much any game.

And yeah the live games would stop playing if the phone connects to WiFi.

Are you able to connect a laptop to your mobile hotspot and cast to a tv?

Guess I'll stick with pirating all the games. Cheesy

https://home.nflbite.com/#

Those pirating sites freak me out.  Not to mention that they make my script blocker go crazy, and to watch the videos you have to disable it.  I'm not willing to do that.

At least I know what evil YouTubeTV is up to with my personal data.  Roll Eyes
