1161  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 26, 2023, 05:49:15 PM
Kumar Sangakkara and Lasith Malinga were the last world class players to represent Sri Lanka. The current squad contains players like Wanindu Hasaranga and Angelo Mathews, but I will not consider them as world class players, due to their inconsistency. Some how Sri Lanka has slipped behind other test nations, and one of the reasons may be the factor that I mentioned in my previous post (club-based domestic system). The rout should be stemmed before it is too late, else it will be difficult to justify their full member status.
Yeah, best thing is they needed to start from school level and then surely having regional teams is also needed of the time and for the strength of their sporting system which is needed to be developed for the current required situation because if you fail to have things which must for having better results then surely you are going to suffer badly still one thing is good as they are producing good talented players, but they also need to established better which is possible with high performance centers which are currently not available.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh can do much better than their current potential but these both needs bold decisions and good investment which is just possible in case of having better and strong system.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh certainly have a lot of potentials. But that potential needs to be unlocked. The amount of corruption that goes on in these countries are absolutely unbelievable. And that is why both of these countries are being held back quite a lot. Bangladesh has a lot of talented players. But just because of corruption and favoritism, a lot of players are not even getting the chance to play. And it's not like they are bad players. Good players are not getting the chance to play.
1162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: March 25, 2023, 07:38:09 PM
Everton are struggling to stay away from the relegation zone so I think they will try to do their best to get the points. Meanwhile, Tottenham still have a very good chance of stealing points at Goodison Park considering their mission is to stay in the top 4 and place a safe position from Newcastle's pursuit.
This game should be very interesting to look forward to, but I believe in probability I think Tottenham will have a good chance to get those 3 points.
After seeing your response, now I have more points why Everton will be a difficult opponent for Tottenham. At the beginning I said that in their last 4 meetings, Tottenham never got a positive result (3 points) when playing at Goodison Park. They always get a draw there. Besides that, because they (Everton) are struggling to get away from the relegation zone, I think Everton will play more insistently than Tottenham in this match.
Interestingly, the current odds on Rollbit are @3.35 for Everton win, @3.35 for draw and @2.21 for Tottenham win. I think I have to consider this match in the next few days.

I believe the last time Everton was able to beat Tottenham was in February 2021. The one reason for why I think Tottenham is not going to lose against Everton is that Tottenham have to win this match. Because if they win they can potentially get ahead to the third position.

But of course, the team which is in front of them, Manchester United, has played two matches less than Tottenham. So it is mostly going to be a fight to stay in the top four for Tottenham. If we also look at the form, Tottenham is playing far better than Everton.

I know we are expecting surprises. But I still think that Sinner is going to be the winner.
What surprises could there be in today's game? looks like everything will end with the seed going to win in today's match.
Sinner vs L. Đere, it looks like it's just going to be a close match with the win staying with Sinner, he's been pretty stable up until now.
JJ. Wolf vs A. Rublev, the young player Wolf can make things difficult for Rublev but just like Sinner won, the seeded Rublev will also win.

Sinner was able to win against Dere and it was certainly not very close in my opinion. Sinner got the win relatively easily in the end. Which was of course expected in my opinion.

Rublev vs Wolf was a relatively closer one compared to the Sinner match. The first set between Rublev and Wolf was really close. I thought it was going to go to three sets. But Rublev had a good performance in the second set.
1164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Justin Sun sued by SEC. Effect on Bitcoin? on: March 25, 2023, 08:35:01 AM
SEC is on an anti-crypto rampage.

I'm more worried about the fact that the SEC just notified Coinbase that they basically consider Coinbase's entire operation illegal. They notified Coinbase that they are planning to come after them not just for their staking service, but their Coinbase Earn stuff, their Wallet service, and their exchange!! Like, that's the entire company! I can't imagine how SEC will make a case against the entire business but it is clear Gary Gensler and the SEC are on an anti-crypto rampage and they would like to take the entire industry down. We've got a lunatic running the SEC.

Hopefully the courts shut down the SEC's anti-crypto tirade and puts Gensler in his place. Cuz its insane that the SEC just wants to shut down the industry in America. We are definitely entering a period when the US government is starting to attack Bitcoin and Crypto. Hoping the courts and/or Congress push back on this sort of anti-crypto stuff before it gets bad. We need politicians and regulators who actually understand what Bitcoin is, and have more of a knowledge of it than just what they read in negative headlines.

I have a different view, they are not against cryptocurrencies, they are doing is showing power and wanting to enter the market and regulate it. They don't want the cryptocurrency to grow freely, and they don't get any benefit from it. They intentionally make it difficult for the market and intentionally create false evidence that the crypto market is dangerous and risky for investors if not regulated so that they get support and get a legal takeover. As far as I know, the SEC and CFTC are vying for the right to regulate cryptocurrencies.
1165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying cheap is best formula on: March 25, 2023, 08:22:35 AM
This period do not encourage trading or investment but at the same time when price is down is good opportunity to buy cheap and when its explode you will gain it. Nothing is lost in bitcoin, those holding for long now are the great benefactors but if you buy this period is more safer.

If I have money now, I would buy half of bitcoin because in next three months it will double the current price. This is real because it always occur this way after 5 years remember in 2011 and 2017 from the market charts and caps. And this year will break more even.

Buying cheap and selling when it's expensive is the way how we make money in trading. The question is if the bitcoin price around 27-28,000 USD is really cheap or not at the moment. Last year the price was definitely cheaper. It's good to be optimistic, but I am more cautious about the next 3 months. What is the rational behind your prediction that the price is going to double in such a short period of time? The collapse of 2-3 banks seems to be a good motivation to go into crypto currencies, but in case of bigger banks starting to tumble things could get messy and lead to another almost financial system collapse like in 2008. If you have money right now then buying some bitcoins is a good idea, especially if you are convinced prices are going to double. You could also consider spreading out your purchases a bit and see if there will be another crash.

If it's a long-term investment and you have confidence in the future of bitcoin, and compared to the old ATH, then $27k is still a cheap price to accumulate. Each bitcoin period will have a different price, we can't compare the price now with the price of 15k last year, if that compares, bitcoin in 2018 is only 3k...
The collapse of banks is not a good thing because it causes a recession and will affect our incomes and lives, which is not necessarily good for cryptocurrencies. I don't expect more banks to fail just because of the expectation that the bitcoin price will rise.
1166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 25, 2023, 01:23:31 AM
Sacking Nagelsmann was the right thing to do, because with the way Bayern Munich have be playing this season one will know the coach don't have the experience to lead the team, now that they have replaced him with Thomas Tuchel formal Chelsea coach, I think the team will be playing more better now. This just made things more difficult for the Manchester City in the Champions League quater final game, Manchester city have to be more prepared now. With the way Thomas Tuchel came into the Chelsea team who where playing badly then, he came and carried the champions League with them, I think he can still make that happen with the Bayern Munich team.
I don't know if this is a good or bad move for Bayern Munich by sacking Nagelsmann. Maybe it's true that they have experienced a slight decline, but I think the decline they have experienced is still within reasonable limits, which means they can still be said to be good and they also still have the chance to win titles in 2 competitions (Bundesliga and Champions League). But nevertheless this has been a decision that has been taken. I just hope this decision is not too hasty which will make them regret it later.

Bayern Munich will have to give the new coach a little time to get settled with the team. Otherwise, it is not going to be any improvement. Bayern Munich is a very good team. So I believe the courts will not take too much time to get settled with the team. Don't know if it is going to be okay to actually expect it when against Manchester City. Because the coach just took up the job. For any coach to perform well, he needs to have a good amount of time to get settled. Now just because it is Bayern Munich, I believe the results will come sooner than later.

I mean it looks like Haaland is planning a 2 or 3-year journey at Manchester City for now. He can be open to play for different teams later on and Real Madrid might go for him if they don't sign Mbappe until then.
I think Madrid should get Haaland instead of Mbappe. after previously Mbappe rejected Madrid's offer and that angered quite a few fans. we can see the response in the media some time ago. not good enough for Madrid to sign Mbappe.
Rumors regarding Haaland circulating are still confusing. but Man City obviously won't let Haaland go. he's a valuable asset to Man City. but if it's an attractive business for Man City, it's possible that an agreement can be made between Man City and Madrid.

My personal opinion is if Real Madrid does decide to get mbappe, it might not be the best decision. Because he is just an egocentric young kid who does not have any idea how to respect others and even his own teammates. But on the other hand, Haaland has shown a lot more maturity and actually played well with his team. So my opinion is that it will be better if Real Madrid does decide to go with Haaland. And remember mbappe had a chance to play for Real Madrid. Real Madrid even offered somewhere around 200 million for him. But he still chose the money that PSG was giving him.
1168  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 24, 2023, 05:24:29 PM
These two countries have played against each other so often that both of them are aware of the weaknesses and strengths of the other team. The matches will take place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates, and this venue is also quite familiar for both the teams. Rashid Khan will be captaining the Afghans, while the Pakistan team will be captained by Shadab Khan. Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman are not included in the squad and therefore this series represents a big opportunity for the younger players.

Well well well, I don't think anyone actually expected this. Pakistan is already eight down for only 77. 16 overs have been played. No way Pakistan is going to have enough runs on the board to beat Afghanistan. Maybe we are just witnessing the fact that Pakistan cannot actually perform well without some important players. Pakistan did have some problems when it came to batting. Pakistan will be happy if they somehow get even close to 120. They will have to do very well in bowling.
1169  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoin can end poverty? In a nation today on: March 24, 2023, 04:04:03 PM
No, Bitcoin can't end any poverty. In fact, people suffering from poverty shouldn't be investing in bitcoin. The golden rule of investing in bitcoin and other crypto currencies is to invest what you can afford to lose. Do you think poor people that can't meet their basic needs should be investing in bitcoin? Nope. It will end up harming them more. Bitcoin can sky rocket in few minutes, and it can also fall down in few second and keep falling for a year or two. Things would  only get worse for them. They will have to sell their coins at a loss to pay their bills. Bitcoin can't remove poverty from a nation, but yeah, it can help to develop the economy indirectly.

Bitcoin is just a highly volatile asset, it has no function or mission to alleviate poverty for anyone. If we want to get out of poverty, only we can help ourselves out of poverty. Bitcoin offers an opportunity for those who want to escape poverty, and whether they take advantage of it is up to them. Poor people can also invest in bitcoin, they need to get out of their comfort zone and take advantage of the opportunity. There will never be a solution to poverty if those living in poverty only know fear and are unwilling to trade.
1170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys!! I was finally able to buy my home thanks to Bitcoin!!! on: March 24, 2023, 03:50:15 PM

I believe there are many people on the forum who own a lot of bitcoins or have achieved their dreams through bitcoin investment but people don't want to brag or they like privacy. In the area where I live, I meet a lot of young people who already have houses, cars, and even real estate, and most of them have joined the market since 2017. Their success really made me envious because I also entered the market no later than them but I didn't seize the opportunity better than them. But I believe that if I persevere, success will also come to me, I am also looking forward to the next bull season.

In the area where I live, there are almost zero young people who can afford to buy houses and cars because very low wages and also high property prices make it almost impossible to own, lucky for those who come from wealthy families because they can get a house or car from parental inheritance.

The average wages of workers in third world countries are very low, and owning a car or real estate is almost impossible. I was also a worker, and with an average income of 250$-300$, it can be said that I will never have the opportunity to own those things. But thanks to bitcoin, many young people in my area have succeeded, and I hope I will soon too.

It would be good if the young people in your area knew about bitcoin, they would have the opportunity to fulfill those dreams without the help of their parents. In today's life, technology is changing day by day and creating more opportunities for all of us, we can't blame anyone if we are still poor.

Yes I also think Afghanistan is a very strong team in T20 aspect. But due to some mistakes they perform very badly in certain matches. But tomorrow match between Pakistan and Afghanistan will be a great game.  All fans of Pakistan and Afghanistan are waiting to watch tomorrow's match.  Hopefully I will bet for Afghanistan in tomorrow's match and I will win the bet.
This particular tour was organized after Australia withdrew from their tour of Afghanistan, citing the Taliban takeover. Now it will be more difficult for the ACB to organize matches against the SENA nations. Hopefully tomorrow's match will once again cement the cricketing relations between these two nations, which were strained after the incidents during last year's Asia Cup. Afghanistan is playing international cricket again after a considerable gap. Their last match against a full member was the T20 match against Sri Lanka, back in November 2022.

I hope Afghanistan is going to be able to attract some eyes with the performance that they are going to do against Pakistan. Of course, they have been staying away from cricket against the bigger competition for quite a while now. I think just because they have been playing against weaker opponents, they have been playing some form of cricket and were not absolutely away from it. That is going to be a big thing for them going into the match against Pakistan. I still do not think that Pakistan is going to be the losing team. But I am still expecting a decent performance from Afghanistan.
1172  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 23, 2023, 04:45:01 PM
well, Alcaraz in a fit condition is one of the best player of the seed and clear impossible to be beat. But let's see, when top players are playing is not uncommon to see some surprises.

The biggest surprises that I have seen was yesterday in the match Murray vs Lajovic.
Also Djere seems able to fight at good level against Sinner (previous match he was winner...)

Murray was never supposed to lose that match. That was really a big surprise. His opponent performed really well compared to him. Considering the fact that we all thought this was not going to be a win for Lajović, I think it was a convincing performance from him.

I know we are expecting surprises. But I still think that Sinner is going to be the winner.
1173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Forever on: March 23, 2023, 12:36:07 PM
In my opinion, Bitcoin is unlikely to disrupt the traditional financial system. This is due to the fact that the traditional financial system is supported by centralized governments, whereas Bitcoin is supported by its community. Governments are unlikely to relinquish their control over the financial system and adopt Bitcoin. Although Bitcoin is based on modern technology, its decentralized nature has made it challenging to achieve widespread adoption globally. Although some governments have accepted Bitcoin, they are not willing to cede control to it. Therefore, they continue to rely on the traditional financial system instead of embracing Bitcoin.

I will agree with you, even though we are bitcoin investors and we all want bitcoin to win and replace fiat in the future. But we need to admit and accept the fact that it will be very unlikely and may never happen. As long as the government controls us, there cannot be a decentralized system to lead and manage this world. Assuming I was the government, I would also find a way to stop bitcoin at all costs, simply because it's not in my favor. It's good but it doesn't benefit us but only benefits others, we will never need it, that's what the government is thinking.

1175  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC bulls back? on: March 23, 2023, 12:06:25 PM
Since January when the price increased more than 40% then i believe that in 2023 the price will be close to ATH or even make a new ATH, this week the price has increased more than 35% and today the price is around $27300, i believe next week or this month the price will at $30k so that makes me even more excited to keep buying.
That's a really positive take on the price of bitcoin. But we should not rejoice too soon. Actually, the bull runs always come after the halving and that is next year. Because the prices are currently fluctuating so much, I wouldn't call it a bull run at the moment. Of course, I could be wrong, but I'm just not really convinced yet. I am curious whether the current price can be maintained. I think we'll see $30k soon, but after that I can well imagine that the prices will unfortunately go down again. It would be really nice if we could hit $50k this year, but I don't really believe in it. Well, time will tell what happens.  Cheesy

Like you, I still believe that history will repeat itself and bitcoin will only reach new ATH after the halving. What has happened and is happening really surprises us all but it doesn't really prove that bear season is over. I believe bitcoin will hit $30k or more, but I still expect bitcoin to fall again, I prefer this year to still be a bearish year rather than bullish one. The cheaper Bitcoin got, the more excited I got, the skyrocketing price of bitcoin made me change my plans, which is really not fun.
1176  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we now on Crypto bull run? on: March 22, 2023, 10:41:00 AM
In my opinion, although recently the price of bitcoin has started to rise, it seems that the cryptocurrency market may not yet be in a bull run phase. I view the current bitcoin price increase as a temporary price increase.

Yes, we are not over the bear season yet, but this is not a temporary bull run, it is a bitcoin rally, and it is very likely that bitcoin will continue to move higher in the near term. I don't have any predictions for this rally, but I see many predictions bitcoin could also hit $40k for this rally.

My prediction is that this year bitcoin will continuously rise and fall, so it is still a good year to accumulate rather than expecting a bull year or a new ATH. As for me, I still believe that history will repeat itself, we will enter a bull season, or will bitcoin hit a new ATH after the halving.
1177  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much return are we expecting next bull run? on: March 22, 2023, 10:28:03 AM
It's not a bad idea to keep 30% of the total 100% in Bitcoin. How about the other way around, 70% in Bitcoin and the rest in different Altcoins. Of course your portfolio will be very cool, imagine if on a bull you get more than 3x profit.
You have to hold all the assets in the portfolio until the price increases again. Fluctuating movements are always unpredictable, it takes mental strength and patience when the value of your investment goes down.
I don't expect much in the 2024/25 bull run, as long as my investment value increases, it will be enough for me.

I like 70% for bitcoin and 30% for altcoins, which ensures both the profit and safety of our investment. But I'm a bit skeptical when you say you don't expect too much of the upcoming bull run. We all invest in bitcoin, the cryptocurrency, simply because it can give us greater returns than any other traditional investment. We have taken a high risk when investing in bitcoin, so there is nothing wrong with expecting high returns. It's well worth it for what we trade, I still expect high returns but am not too delusional.
1178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 20, 2023, 05:51:06 PM
Just think of IPL, at the first season. It takes time and it is a wrong calculation to compare men's IPL with WPL in terms of revenue. Even before the start of WPL there is not much interested on it. Now the audience and viewership have increased than calculated. When the franchise number increases automatically it'll gain even more popularity. Maybe WPL isn't that profitable as IPL, but it is sure to generate profit, no doubt in it.
Men's and women's league will never be equal. It doesn't matter how big an investment or promotion, it will never get the equal position. But its good and bad things can be judged comparatively. The Womens Premier League has just started. If it will not be 100% successful this year but there will be more improvement in the next seasons. If a few sessions can be completed regularly then a big revenue can be earned from this tournament. At that point we can make a comparison of the women's league with the men's.

I agree with @Vaskiy that comparing women's sports with men's sports is not fair. But at the same time, we all have to remember that this is not a charity. Unless they bring in good revenue for the investors and sponsors, they are not going to be interested in investing. Of course, it is going to need time. But is the BCCI going to give women IPL the time it needs? Considering the fact that they did not want the women's IPL in the first place. I don't know their situation now but that was the case for a long time.

It was truly said by @BobK71. Comparing men's sports with women's sports is like comparing world-class cars with Nissan. You are going to get your money's worth with a Lamborghini. People will also show a lot of interest in a Lamborghini. With a Nissan, you might get reliability, but you will certainly not get the popularity.
1179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 20, 2023, 04:13:02 PM
I believe no one in the BCCI setup or franchises for that matter expects the same success as Men's IPL.
The poor state of the Women's NBA is a fair argument but I'd say WPL won't follow WNBA's route. Only because the recent media rights deal of WPL suggests that it won't become a subsidiary of Men's IPL and can sustain itself
It is too early to decide the fate of WPL. The first season is still going on and after its conclusion, we will come to know how well did it perform. I doubt that WPL won't be generating any revenue for BCCI as it has already done that when the media rights were sold. Now the main question lies in the revenue of the franchise. Most of them are in this business for quite some time now and they know how to make it a profitable venture. We need to wait for the viewership data that will be released after the conclusion of this season. That will give us an insight on the success of WPL.

Every new thing is going to be interesting for people. We all know about a lot of controversies that happened in the men's IPL. That was a big reason for the men's IPL to become popular. I am not saying every club should look for controversy in trying to make the women's IPL interesting. But I simply think that the fact that there is no controversy is an indication that a lot of people are not interested in women's sports. But if any league, the women's T20 league in cricket does have the potential to get popular, I think it is the women's IPL.
1180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 19, 2023, 05:13:00 PM

The poor state of the Women's NBA is a fair argument but I'd say WPL won't follow WNBA's route. Only because the recent media rights deal of WPL suggests that it won't become a subsidiary of Men's IPL and can sustain itself

My argument is that even if women's IPL is somewhat popular, it is never going to be as popular as men's IPL. It is never even going to be a very good business, to be honest. The best thing that might come out of this is the players that will represent Indian women's cricket. The profit is never going to be enough for most of the big businessmen. Of course, it is going to be enough for the broke people who always try to play it safe. But I think it is too early to say. Probably they will make enough profit eventually.

It is base less to compare women cricket with men. At the moment Indian women cricketer are not even close to Australian or English cricketers. First BCCI & the franchise needs to work on those grounds then we can compare them with Men cricket. I also agree WPL won't be generating as much revenue and craze like men's cricket. But both these franchise league will help BCCI generate more revenue and improve cricket infrastructure. That will give more opportunities to the cricket playing youth for both genders and overall help the Indian economy.
Both Indian IPL and Womens Premier League will increase the revenue of the Indian Cricket Board but it is common thing that IPL is the number one T20 cricket league in the world with the highest investment. No other cricket league can compare with this. On the other hand the Womens Premier League has just started. As the first season, it has gained a lot of popularity. In the next session better cricketers will be available and this event will gain more popularity. But it is certain that both the Indian women's and men's T20 cricket leagues will be the top cricket league in the world cricket.

What I am a little fearful of is that probably the women's IPL will also have to be funded even though it is not going to generate some actual profit. But one thing that is good in India is if they do not see a profit, they are not going to probably continue. Unlike in the west where some feminists shout for equal pay when they are actually playing in a loss project(WNBA)
