If you have to choose between bitcoin and alt coin for long term trading then I would like to suggest you to select bitcoin, bitcoin is best and secure coin not only for long time hold but also for short time trading. Even then if you want to do trading in alt-coin then I would like to suggest you select the top coin from alt-coin for only short time trading it is very risky to do long term trading in alt-coin.
Even then at the end of the day alt coin is never a safe investment, its example is not only your post but many such incidents have already happened.
Bitcoin and other top altcoins like ETH or something that sits around on top 10 in ranking in CMC which you could somewhat guild up that kind of confidence that you are putting your money into something which does have strong and huge community which you could really tell and say that it would really be good for more longer years to come but of course it would be always accompanied with certain risk. Anything and everything is possible. 80k is very hard, but not impossible. If the demand keeps on increasing like this, then who know the price might reach 80k also. At first the main motive is to break the resistance and come out this bear market phase. If Bitcoins crosses 30k usd mark by the End of February, then there is high chances that the price will go up and we may see a new all time high price in November or December. Let’s hope for the best and most importantly don’t lose the hope. Yes, anything can happen history may not repeat itself, and we will create new history, but the chance of that happening is too low. In addition to the 4-year cycle, the halving event, this year we also have to face inflation, and the economic crisis is still raging in many countries around the world. To be honest why many people are complaint to the banks? it seems like banks did many mistakes or terrible service to their customers. In my experience I don't have any problem with my local banks, they serve very well and let me to withdraw my money.
However since Nigerian banks not accept Bitcoin transactions, I believe only the customers who receive money related with Bitcoin are having problem, while the rest aren't. After all you can't do anything, but you have few choices if you want to cash out your Bitcoin in anonymous.
I think it depends on the country you live in, also I have never had a problem with my local bank since I used it until now, 14 years have passed. But maybe a few countries are having problems that make people unhappy and especially Nigeria, recently, they changed the national currency, so it caused a lot of frustration for people.
