what PSU is that? model name? before doing this look if your psu can handle power for 4 gpus. you can buy 6pin to 8pin and 8pin to double 8 pin cables.

remove gpus  just kidding. there is nothing you can remove from mobo. maybe ram use only 1 stick and use low poer cpus like ends with T for example celeron 3930T. anyway that will not make much difference because main power consumption is GPU |

yes you can turn off them forever using group policy and registery, search on google you will find, it doesnt take long time

I'm finding it hard to make a decision here, I need your opinions, I was lucky to find a store in my country that have high number of graphic cards from RX580 8gb to RX5500XT and RX5700xt for cheap price, I believe the seller have got the cards before their price skyrocketed, the RX580 8gb for 250$, RX5500XT for 280$ and the RX5700xt for 570$ , which one is the best to go for if you are in my shoes ??
And this is good price? 5700 for 570$. |

Is it advisable to use thermal pads on graphic cards memory chip to reduce heat? Have anyone tried this on any of their graphic cards before? I read online that this can be done on GPUs that have high temp, any idea about this?
my friend there is 2 things inside 1 Thermal paste and 2 thermal pad. Thermal paste for gpu and thermal pads for memory and for mosfets. Usually vendors use high end thermal pads and paste. if the card is old like 4-5 years then it better to replace them because they get dry after 24/7 mining. For new rtx3000 series it is problem because people pushing cards to much then looking for new high conductive pads and pastes. If you replace with very good quality pads ofcourse your memory and mosfets will cooled better. |

yep air conditioner cools really good. if you have cheap electricity go ahead. in summer time fans dont help me my place is very hot in summer 45-50C outside

1.5 year ago both amd and nvidia has very low profit just for survive. so it doesnt matter if mining goes down all cards goes down.

As expected. Such panic with AMD GPUs was just because it was unknown before. Why NVIDIA GPUs must be another? I think that RX480-580 and 1060-1080 are working with the same temperatures, we just dont know about it. Continue mining, sell your old GPUs, buy new and be happy.
long time ago i measured rx 470-480 memory temps manually with my gear. it is 10C more that shows for gpu. If miner shows 60C then memory is 70C |

it is not perfect time to buy gpu, very expensive like 2x 3x even 4x prices right now. But if you insist go ahead and get 1660s,1660s,3060ti,3070,3080 from nvidia they are easy to mine for newbie. AMD- rx 470,480,570,580,590,5600,5700,vega,radeon7 but you need alot time to configure them These cards are good but do not forget get at least 6G memory. |

I upgraded to AMD driver 20.7.2 and while I now can get it to run with my RX580's and Vega56, I'm having the exact same problem as batsonxl - if I have straps set to 1 or whichever straps I'd previously used, the whole rig crashes the moment it tries to applies the straps. If I set it to 0, it will start up and run, but probably with around a 35% reduction in hashrate as the straps aren't being applied. Hopefully straps can get working again for AMD's? Thanks
With -straps 0 do you have accepted shares? Do you have shares that didn't pass check on CPU? ("got incorrect share" message in log file) About crashing with -straps 1. The miner uses heavily protected custom kernel-mode driver to apply straps and it looks like it's not compatible with new amd gpu drivers. I think the only realistic solution for me is to use some 3rd party driver to apply straps instead of default miner's driver. Still this will require a lot of researching and therefore time. Thanks for your hard work, If claymore will NOT work with straps then there is no point to use it. i used clay only because of this, with 3rd party software all miner works fast, the point is claymore was single miner with all settings you need, make bat file thats it.you dont need oc software or mod the bios. |

Not all cards works with single 8pin. even it works it is very risky i wouldnt do that, because rtx series has rt cores and usual cores and memory. it is all splits by controller to phases, when second 8pin misses it can use alot power on some phases and can burn it. for to be sure you need open card and see from 2nd 8pin where what goes,
get proper psu.

did you plugged cpu power cables?
Is your mobo used?
If you purchesed all mobo from same person maybe mobos are dead. I dont think fresh cpu from box will be faulty, get one more mobo new or from friend and try again.

All computer components become absolute by the time like in 5-10 years. as soon as ethereum profit gets low all 30mhs speed will not save the day because newer cards will be profitable markets adjust itself to new speeds. when profit is low even 8g polaris cards will be useless too. people who had 7870,290,390 dont mind it because these cards did their job and happy. im happy i will keep my old friends with me like memory it is legend cards.

My sapphire Nitro+ rx580 8gb running on 32,6 mhs with 1200/2200 890mv ~100w from wall.
how people can go so down. my some cards even dont down after 940mv. core voltage doing 880mv but it doesnt effect consumption but memory voltage effects alot. as soon as i give 920mv on memory then after couple hours crash. and also with 940mv i cant go up 2070mhz it will crash, how people cards stays stable on 2200mhz? Ofcourse miner showing very less 66w-78w. |

5.5 works fine for 5700xt with a 1.5-2W drop per card
5.5 doesn't work for 570-580, consistent crashing

My 1 card was hd4870 but it was not very good then i got 7870,380,470,480,1060,1070, very good times.....

I want to buy a whole complete rig with 6 cards for 3000$. Is now the price ok?
you must be very rich if you gonna pay 3k for 6 rx580. ok lets say you got your rig and started mining today. 6 580 makes 192mhs speed it is 13$(this profit changes everyday it can go way down) a day right now and whats your electric cost? 0.1$? ok lets say it is FREE at this profit you wil ROI in 7-8 month. what happens if reward decrease? you Roi will be 12-24 month ok then maybe you will decide to sell gpu. as soon as reward less gpu price will be also less, you will sell that rig maybe best price for 1k. you will lose in anyway. Just wait or look to find cards rtx 3060ti for 450-500$. it is new gpu and will not loose price alot. |
