1321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a new form of manipulation? on: August 09, 2018, 11:06:52 AM
I don't even get how you get manipulation from the list you just posted here. these seem like such random events this year and for every one of them there were others equal and in their opposite. the only thing that I can understand is the ETF thing that is currently ongoing. and that is because unlike others people paid a lot more attention to this news than they paid attention to anything else. and the worst part is this event is not as important as people have been making it to be.
1322  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin after 5 Halving - 10 years from now - What will be its price? on: August 09, 2018, 10:18:37 AM
The history shows that speculation and FOMO had much more effect on the price than the halvings.
An ETF may get approved within one year and then we can discuss of a recovery. However, no one can tell what will be the price tomorrow, so why try to speculate so far away?
Spread hope  Cheesy
Of course with the halving, we have increased difficulties and less rewards for miners so there will be a rise in the mining fees and finally a rise in the bitcoin price.
So the key message is HODL.

you mean mining "cost" not "fee"?
and it does not exactly work like that. if mining reward goes down after the halving the profitability of mining goes down but that doesn't mean price would magically go up because reward went down.
price goes up first based on speculation and hype and next because there would be less fresh coins entering the market every day. and finally like always it will rise ONLY if adoption rises and adoption rises based on different factors not the mining reward.
1323  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predictability of Bitcoin - drop to $6000 then up to over $7000 within weeks? on: August 09, 2018, 07:07:22 AM
I still don't think we can break $6k and stay below it because there is a strong buy support there. we may drop below because a lot of buy orders are not placed, but there are watchers that will automatically place them if price reaches that level or goes below.

as for the rise I believe that we first need to get past the ETF drama that has been with us for about a month now and then we can see a better market that we can actually predict. otherwise it can always depend on SEC decision and as long as they postpone that decision we will continue to have that uncertainty in the market that makes investors think twice before coming back.
1324  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin after 5 Halving - 10 years from now - What will be its price? on: August 09, 2018, 06:49:45 AM
I believe that $1 million+ is a good estimate. of course being a very far away future makes it near impossible to predict things because a lot of things can change. for example we may finally see that financial crisis that people have been talking about for years and it can push bitcoin to beyond all expectations as a lot of money rushes into bitcoin to be stored there.
1325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IS HOLDING TRULY THE SOLUTION TO DROP OF BTC PRICE? on: August 09, 2018, 06:05:38 AM
no, the real solution is finding why price fell in first place and if it was not a logical reason then try and fix it by for instance educating the newbie weak hands who have been panic selling during that drop.
for example the drop from $20k down was logical and there is nothing you can do about it. that should have happened but the recent drop below $7k was not logical. it was purely the result of manipulation and panic sell of newbies who are too caught up in the ETF bullshit and are now blinded about what bitcoin truly is supposed to be.
1326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin will change, like PayPal did? on: August 09, 2018, 05:51:04 AM
bitcoin is not a company that you are comparing it with one and it is not promising anything, it is what it is. a decentralized payment network that has certain characteristics. and people (the peers) are on this network because of those characteristics and if those characteristics go away then those peers will also go away.

for example decentralization is one thing that everyone would agree that if it goes away everyone would also go away with it.
cheap transaction fees is another one. people will not stick around if fees go up and stay up because one important characteristic of bitcoin would die and that is being a currency. and without it there is no point staying around in my opinion. not that you should not confuse a spam attack higher fees with natural high fees because of lack of capacity.
1327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When is the time for Bitcoin to become a fork again on: August 09, 2018, 05:46:50 AM
bitcoin never "became a number of forks"! that doesn't even make sense.

what happened is that certain people starting forking new altcoins "from bitcoin". and it is over because they were creating shitcoins and at first newbies didn't know it or at least they never believed it but eventually and soon enough they realized it. and as soon as they did, the profitability of doing such pointless forks became zero so nobody attempted them anymore.
1328  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin at 4500$-5000$ August-September 2018 !!! on: August 08, 2018, 01:14:48 PM
it is possible but people (most probably yourself included) have been saying the same thing from the beginning of the year and you have been waiting for extremely low prices below the strong bottom buy support. and basically you have been repeating the same things as your "reasons" for all those previous times too and none of them are real or even make a remote sense!
1329  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happened to this 'easy 10k'? on: August 08, 2018, 12:10:25 PM
Lol this "Buy the dip!" bs again.
Y'all have been saying this the entire year, you have no idea how much financial and emotional trauma you are causing so many people by selling this pipedream to people that want some financial hope and stability. All just so you can sell your bags and become rich while everybody is suffering.
if someone is naïve enough to take effect from a random person on the internet posting a comment then he/she deserves to lose money. and we would gladly take their bitcoins from them at a discount.

How many times does it need to be demonstrated that this tech, specially the Bitcoin implementation does not work at a basic level.
then would you mind explaining to us what the hell are you doing in forum dedicated to something that doesn't work according to you?

Even the LN is a fad because it fundamentally CAN NOT work in a decentralized and secure way.
LN is already working in both secure and decentralized way... your BS is so a year ago...
1330  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happened to this 'easy 10k'? on: August 08, 2018, 06:04:24 AM
what happened?
the same thing that happened with "easy $4k and easy $3k" and all the similar "predictions". the bullshit price guesses are not known to come true ever. but people keep on making them because there is no taxes on spreading bullshit on the internet and some people even enjoy trolling.
1331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it true that bitcoin is a disaster for local banks on: August 08, 2018, 05:50:29 AM
bitcoin doesn't have to be a disaster for banks at all because first of all banks are working with fiat and fiat doesn't go anywhere. it will stay around forever and bitcoin is not here to replace it either. and if you really think about it, banks are just service providers for currencies. and bitcoin is just a new currency. there is nothing stopping banks from adopting bitcoin and offer the same fiat services they offer now for bitcoin and increase their revenue.

Nope, it´s just a disaster.
SO you're saying that Bitcoin is a disaster? If so, why are you here?

a very good question ...

"Our view that cryptocurrencies would not retain value in their current incarnation remains intact and, in fact, has been borne out much sooner than we expected," the team lead by chief investment officer Sharmin Mossavar-Rahamani said.

"We expect further declines in the future given our view that these cryptocurrencies do not fulfill any of the three traditional roles of a currency: they are neither a medium of exchange, nor a unit of measurement, nor a store of value."

who can deny this? they are very correct if you really think about it. there are nearly 2000 altcoins and tokens in the market these days and these two statements are 100% correct about 99.99% of them. if you think otherwise then show us cases where these shitcoins are being used as a tradition sense of a "currency"! none of them have any use case apart from some old ones such as Litecoin but even that is not even big enough to be considered enough number of use cases.

the only thing that remains is bitcoin and when they talk about "cryptocurrencies" in general they are rarely talking about bitcoin. and we already know that bitcoin has the "actual use case as a currency" and you can find thousands of examples by doing a quick search on the internet.
1333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tips to overcome depression. on: August 08, 2018, 03:44:56 AM
none of these are really going to work though, when you have taken the first step wrong. ignoring the problem, not thinking about it and relaxation are all things that would only postpone your problems.

the first step that anyone should have taken was to invest what you can afford to lose. nobody can deny that buying bitcoin is risky and to overcome that risk you need to be aware of it and only put the money in that you don't need and/or can afford to lose. if you do that then you will never worry about the price and never become "depressed" about a small short term drop!
1334  Economy / Speculation / Re: How far is 50k bitcoin? on: August 07, 2018, 10:22:53 AM
I can not possibly say how far the $50k bitcoin is but all I can say with certainty is that it is so much closer that you would think it is. for example last year when price was still $900 people were arguing about when $1200 (the previous ATH) would be reached and how that will take a long time. and then the bubble talks began and nobody even thought it would reach $20k in a year.

$50k is no different either. as soon as we get out of this accumulation/manipulation phase that bitcoin is stuck in we will start the rise towards that target easily.
1335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My opinion on Starbucks denial of Partnership for Bakkt Proposed Project on: August 07, 2018, 09:22:47 AM
this is what happens when people read have the stories and misunderstand that!

Starbucks didn't deny the partnership or the announcement made. they denied the exaggerated news which was saying Starbucks is going to accept bitcoin and cryptocurrency payments. otherwise there is a partnership and they have approved of that part of the news.
and in a way they are accepting bitcoin payments but it will first go through the new payment processor they are building and is turned into fiat then that fiat is used in Starbucks to pay for coffee.
1336  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do with the current market? on: August 07, 2018, 09:09:48 AM
not "many", only those newbies who were expecting to become rich overnight with bitcoin are no disappointed in the market because price didn't go up 100% per week! others are mostly happy about the current market because the current bitcoin price is a good place to buy for those who were left behind last year and couldn't buy as much bitcoin as they hoped for.

as for altcoins it is the bubble bursting which is still going on and unless you are an experienced altcoin trader I would suggest staying away from them for now.
1337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pot kettle black on: August 07, 2018, 04:07:44 AM
I still don't get how these countries think they can evade sanctions by "creating" a cryptocurrency.
for example we are talking about a trade between countries, if  the other country is willing to do it despite the sanctions then they will do it with fiat and if they are not willing to do it then using another form of your own centralized fiat with a different name is not going to change their mind!

when a country creates a new cryptocurrency (like Petro) they are just printing more of the same money they have been printing for years but now instead of using paper to print, they use digital form.
using something like bitcoin is a different story though. because it already exists and being used and being decentralized can mean you can freely use it. although it would be traceable so that part of the problem still exists since both countries wouldn't be able to hide their trade from UN.
1338  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Everyone loses money when the market is down right? on: August 06, 2018, 11:56:40 AM
not everyone loses money! there are many different strategies used by people and make of them can easily mean not losing anything at all. for example the simplest one is to invest long term in bitcoin. imagine you have bought bitcoin last year when things were calm and the rise had not yet started. then you could have buy bitcoin between $900 to $2000 and no matter what the current price is, you would be in a big profit. you might have even sold a little on top ($20k) and make a huge profit while still holding a lot of bitcoin.

or another strategy that is favorite by many is to go around in the altcoin market and only find the coins that are on the rise ie. getting pumped. you can buy these coins during the rise and make a big profit short term. these coins don't care what is generally going on in the market, they get pumped nonetheless.
1339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks accepting Bitcoin soon? Nope! on: August 06, 2018, 10:51:09 AM

A spokesperson for the multinational coffee chain clarified in comments to Motherboard that in fact “customers will not be able to pay for Frappuccinos with bitcoin,” but rather the company is part of a new venture creating a platform, Bakkt, to “convert digital assets like Bitcoin into U.S. dollars, which can be used at Starbucks,”

I don't get it, they are going to be accepting bitcoin, who cares what they do with it and what they receive. it is the same as when you go to a merchant now and pay them with bitcoin through Bitpay. you pay bitcoin, they accept bitcoin but they receive fiat.

unless I am misreading this, I'd say this is not a bad thing. it creates yet another use case in real world for bitcoin and it will make things even easier for merchants to accept bitcoin with no worries about its price and other risks while they increase their revenue.
1340  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: August 06, 2018, 07:38:04 AM
1st place in the wagering contest has already hit 63BTC, meaning we'll probably get the first place being more than last time (by my reckoning anyway).

Freebitco is definitely turning into a hybrid it maintains its facets but also is providing casino type bets it's really great to see bets of 63btc being place there, never thought to see such high bets especially since all we did in the past was clicked faucets and the highest lottery used to be 1btc

it is not exactly a bet of 63BTC though. it is the amount wagered which is the total amount of all the bets made by that user in this time frame. for example he can have 1BTC and bet it 63 times (granted he doesn't lose) then the total wagered by him would be 63BTC.
but yeah it is great to see that this site has grown this much to have big rollers like these.

it seems like withdrawal fees were reduced again (from 200 as base to 80 as base) Smiley
