1941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why not invest instead of cloudmining?? on: September 26, 2015, 09:00:09 PM
I invested on certain reputable cloudmining site without doing much calculations (my fault, I know). I did them later, and found out that It would take me more than 660 days to ROI  Roll Eyes

They have halved the amount of satoshis they send me everyday 2 times since then... It is not worth it at all. As I say, reputable company (they have proof of mining, pics, their site identifies the persons that are responsible and all)

So I have come to think that sometimes it is better to invest in risky high yield investments for moderate amounts (0.01-0.05).  I have invested like that in about 5 sites. 3 of them have run with the money already at a loss, but the other two stand and I have compensated the loses.

(PM me if you want names, I prefer not to give them in the open)
1942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Marketing Bitcoin to the Masses: Selling 21 on Ignorance on: September 26, 2015, 08:40:58 PM

What it will be successfull in, is increasing the number of nodes. I think that will be the biggest gain for the network from this machine.

Good point there. It will be good in that respect.

But newbies may expect to get/mine more bitcoins than they will actually get with this machine.
1943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: dot.bitcoin or dot.btc TLD on: September 26, 2015, 08:35:55 PM
I choose .btc too. 3 letter domains are more the norm (although there are also longer ones)
1944  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Arbitrage Possible with bitcoins? on: September 26, 2015, 03:28:41 PM
I used to Arbitrage extremely well selling to CampBX, there was literally $40/BTC discrepancies between them and other exchanges. Plus I had an investor from India who trusted me, which was a blessing.

That's great to hear then!

At topic: Yes arbitrage is possible.. There are trading platforms that offers free arbitrage program like the one I'm using right now. You can check out their arbitrage program here: http://www.ecoin.eu/en/arbitrage/index

Can you expand a bit on that, how does that arbitrage program work? Do you need knowledge to benefit from it?
1945  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is the btc transaction time? on: September 26, 2015, 03:24:21 PM
I have been experimenting with different fees myself so I get some real life experience and not some theoretical calculation. It seems I don't see many differences between 0.001 and 0.0001... it takes more or less the same for some reason. 0 fees is horrible tho, always pay the default fee is my advice.
Why would anyone pay 1BTC of fee tho?

How much has been the maximum delay (according to your experiments) for a 0 fees transaction? Just curious  Smiley
1946  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now & After 6 years , what the worst case scenario ? on: September 26, 2015, 01:55:27 PM
Now & After 6 years from the creation of Bitcoin by Satoshi Nakamoto , what's the worst case scenario that could happen to Bitcoin and make it dissapear once for all in your opinion , personally I guess it will be little bit hard to get 3 billion USD market-cap business  destroyed just like that .

I have been thinking for a while and I don't come to a scenario that would destroy it completely.

But more scam scandals, or the fall of a big online wallet being hacked and losing their coins could be a big blow.
1947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest hope regarding Bitcoin? on: September 26, 2015, 01:47:26 PM
Tell me all about it

For it to achieve such a status that it would be possible to monetize a blog/website via micropayments.

1948  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which country has the highest percentage of miners? on: September 26, 2015, 01:42:56 PM

There have been some farms surfacing in Iceland lately. I guess that they use their thermal waters for electricity production and also there is no much need for cooling up there since it's very cold anyways.

Yes. Having computers working on cold weather saves a lot.

1949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to stop the focus on buying coffees and start focusing on remittance! on: September 26, 2015, 01:40:49 PM
I answered in other topic favoring Bitcoin being used to make small payments and micropayments. I think that it is important to defend this, as it has a lot of monetizing potential for blogs, music, and earning a life by the payment bits of many people.

But I agree that remittance is a very important and not explored area. I have relatives abroad and it would be great to have methods por remmitance involving bitcoin for people who do not know much about using it.
1950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you like best about bitcoin? on: September 25, 2015, 11:14:47 PM
The potential to earn some for "free" doing faucets or mining
1951  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT over? on: September 25, 2015, 08:49:03 PM
I think that the developers will not propose anything. Probably they will not feel confident to do so.
1952  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a way to earn at least $1 in BTC per hour? on: September 25, 2015, 08:46:17 PM
What if I told you that you could earn 1 BTC per hour?

There are a lot of opportunities in Bitcoin for people with knowledge and skills.

Otherwise, instead of faucets you'll have more fun playing Chopcoin.io which awards 5000 Satoshi if you win. Games take 10 minutes. I'm not sure how that compares to hitting a bunch of faucets, but once you get good you can play it for high stakes. It's not quite gambling due to the amount of skill involved. I wrote a Chopcoin guide if you're interested.

It is not that hard to get more than 5000 in 10 minutes through faucets. But chopcoin may be worth it if you can get more than that.
1953  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will be the condition of bitcoin in future? on: September 25, 2015, 05:29:24 PM
There is no possibility to secure the network without the miners? Perhaps there could be a system to reward people running nodes, and implement it as mining difficulty raises.

1954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a way to earn at least $1 in BTC per hour? on: September 25, 2015, 05:26:38 PM
If you take up all cryptocurrency faucet list and hit them with the captchas.... Maybe you can earn 1$ am not sure.. But there are so many faucets that... Nearly $1 can normallyrbe earned in an hour

There certainly enough faucets to get 1$, but you just can get to load them and fill the captchas in only one hour.

Assuming you use faucets that provide 1000 satoshis, you could only collect those 1000 satoshis in about 10 seconds (page loading, captcha filling etc, and that having maximum speed).

One hour has 3600 seconds, so you would collect 3600/10= 360 faucet claims per hour, which would mean 360,000 satoshis, which are 0.85 $

And that is if there were 360 perfectly aligned 1000 satoshis faucets (which there aren't) and you could really load/fill captchas in 10 seconds each (which really is not possible either).
1955  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your least favorite thing about Bitcoin? on: September 25, 2015, 05:15:30 PM
The transaction fees. Would love to transfer any amount (whoever low it might be) without restrictions.

Don't get me wrong, I know we need the fees, but still...
1956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any Bitcoin accepted Store around you? on: September 25, 2015, 05:05:33 PM
Nothing here  Embarrassed hope it will be in the future, but I think it would not be too soon.
1957  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitpay's new business model... on: September 25, 2015, 05:02:00 PM
Agree that it was expected. I think it is better to thank them for the amount of free service provided till now.

We tend to attack free providers when they become paid ones, while we do not blame paid services if they require payment from the beginning. That is not good.
1958  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt.CC | Scrypt Cloud Mining on: September 24, 2015, 06:30:12 PM
In spain we are over 400 that have informed about this to police, and we had information about the owner of scrypt before. I must insist that everyone of you that has lost money on scrypt informs to the authorities of your countries, so they get to investigate it and get the data they have about "Marcelo" in other countries.

People, come on, do it, inform to authorities, you cant just be lazy and let others take your money.

If you have information about the guy enough to find him why would you waste time with the police? Just persuade him to cough up funds. 400 people should be able to hire an expert in persuading debtors.

Perhaps informing the press would be better. 400 reports to the police, well... they maybe cannot do much. But I am sure that 400 reports to a journal will put them to inform public in general.

At least people would be more wary of scams.
1959  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone have direct Satoshi quotes on the usage of Bitcoin? on: September 24, 2015, 06:10:58 PM

People are worrying about buying coffees for BTC when to do so would actually cost them more (you'd have to change your dollars to BTC which would cost you a percentage and then the retailer will just use BitPay or the like so they won't offer any discount).

This whole idea of thinking that Bitcoin needs to be used for trivial purchases when virtually no-one is even paid in BTC seems to be a very silly one.

I cannot agree on that. Micropayments are one of the beauties of Bitcoin. It would be great if people could easily microtip in blog posts, buy coffes earned with the satoshis collected on faucets, buy movie tickets with the posts in forums, and so on.

But the fees do not allow for it.

I agree that it is hard to earn in Bitcoin. But I think that it is precisely that what needs to change. Methods to reward bloggers for their posts, more ad networks, more microjobs websites, etc.
1960  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is NOT a currency debate! on: September 24, 2015, 01:54:09 PM
It is a currency, but due its volatility, most people will use it to invest and not to pay for goods with it.
