Yes. If the exchange closes, all will be gone. Fiat, coins and altcoins. So better not to keep much there.

No idea about a XBT. Sounds like bitcoin xt, but not really now if it is so.

I like how the mainstream names are mentioning Bitcoin more and more and are leaving behind the "it's all about the blockchain, forget bitcoin!" insanity. Im sure they don't want to recognize they were wrong. BTC bullish as hell.
Exactly. It is as a way of saying "I was right about Bitcoin: it will die. But hey! the blockchain is good!". That way, when Bitcoin finally succeeds, they will be able to say: well, it succeeded due to the Blockchain. Blockchain is so powerful it can make a bad thing go right. I told you!

Simple workaround : Get a Bitcoin debitcard. I use e-coin. https://www.e-coin.io/Load it up with a little BTC, then use the card directly or register a Paypal account with it. All legal, and super handy. Great solution indeed. I will keep it for me too. So it is this easy to get you paying in paypal through bitcoin?

Well it is not really about him, but about someone who says he would get the price in his place...

I used them until about 2 days ago. I realized that I got hooked on them instead of doing some other more productive jobs because of laziness...
But I really do think that faucets are not bad if you do not have other more lucrative job or even if you have one and can do some faucets in between. I do not think they are to be despised.
Who knows? maybe those few satoshis you earn now can be hundreds of dollars in the future.

I guess that mining farms are probably already looking for an strategy to prevent their business from going down the tube when the halving is reached.
Being people who manage a lot of BTC, it is likely that they can do something to keep the price up, don´t they?

he said he has a large amount of Bitcoins but would not disclose the amount and says he has a hard time spending them. After I explained GYFT and how you can go inside StarBucks and transfer BTC-->Gyft card then use that at the point of sale his eyes blew up like he saw a ghost Shocked to see that he has never heard of GYFT before So you need to go to starbucks to fund GYFT? Cannot fund it with BTC directly?

You could get something like that using exchange APIS and an excell spreadsheet (or just using the api with more complicated programming). For example, this page I made shows all prices in an exchange http://goo.gl/x6WOyQ. Copy-Pasting this info in a spreadsheet in which you hold account of the alts you are holding, you could easily find out their value using some formulas.

Governments will indeed be against this , but it's for the people to decide and not the governments . So there is really nothing they can do to stop us from using Bitcoin unless they shutdown the internet or all countries agree to block it or something (which won't happen) .
That is my take as I have said in other posts... Governments can't stop people from exchanging their stuff for whatever they want (even if it is camels, potatoes, or bitcoins).

I have come to start using multibit recently, and I am glad to see others also recommend it.
Pretty secure in my opinion with their backups, passphrases and all, but maybe a bigger thing is needed if you are going to hold high amount of btc.

Almost anything can happen right now. In fact, few expected to happen was has already happened!

$350-400 is my bet.
Same Bet here. Around that price after several ups and perhaps downs below that.

Stable prices dont come from overnight $100 rises. Stability came after several months of retailers starting to accept btc, "weak hands" getting out, etc.
I sm skeptical that we can hold the $400 level, let alone $500 and maintain stability. Seems like nothing has changed from a few weeks ago, and $250-$300 still seems like the baseline where we are headed
I quite agree with this, although I expect it to hold a little higher, perhaps around 350$.

“No government will ever support a virtual currency that goes around borders and doesn’t have the same controls. It’s not going to happen.” Well, certainly no government. But what about users? perhaps users can go on without government support Just as they are already going...aren´t they?

I have some expectations of using Bitcoin to aid me in paying my bills, mortgage, etc.

Good to see it in the newspaper. Mt Gox is recent (2014) so it is normal to mention it to keep things balanced when you are writting to millions of readers that you article may attract to Bitcoin. It is like saying "ey, this looks big, but beware".
Hope this keep going on.

Se ya there! kik group? is that an app or domething or are you referring to an IRC channel?

Just ignorance. Journalist/writers are not always well informed.
In fact, I somewhat understand them. Sometimes you have to write about a lot of different things in a month and you cannot be well informed about all terminology. Others you do not require a lot of precision to just transmit to the masses the idea that some person related to Bitcoin did such thing.
Yes, it would be great for them to be precise, but probably it takes more effort to do it that it is worth FOR THEM (not the readers) to do so.

I cannot be sure, but to me the problem seems to be that you hold a very small amount of Bitcoin there / use it too little and they just want to save resources.
