1961  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: tAPI-bot - Automated crossover trade platform for BTC-e on: May 09, 2013, 02:34:47 PM
Ok, after some tinkering I think I have found a bug. It appears that the bot does not like the existence of manually created trades. I'm running in sim with trading on btc_usd but I have open ppc orders which I think is the culprit.

Greetings, human. tAPI-bot loading...
tAPI-bot v0.51, starting.
Open Orders: 4
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "Application.py", line 40, in <module>

File "Application.py", line 25, in runLoop
    printing.displayBalance()

    self.processOrders(printOutput=True)
File "/home/x/Desktop/tAPIbot-master/tapi/helper.py", line 164, in processOrders

I'm going to let my orders stand for a bit (come on bull!) and then try creating manual btc orders and see if that fixes the crash.
1962  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's your experience of automated trading and which sofware is the best? on: May 09, 2013, 03:51:03 AM
you can try this:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=197526.0

It's open source and has a simulation setting so you don't have to go burning your precious btc until you understand how it works.
1963  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: tAPI-bot - Automated crossover trade platform for BTC-e on: May 09, 2013, 02:07:29 AM
I should also add that the file size of graph.png has increased, but damned if I see anything on it. Also tried increasing DPI to 800. Now I am trying changing the trade target to btc_usd to see if that makes a difference

[edit]hahahaha I should of known. Low and behold there just wasn't data to graph. Changed trade target and now I have a graph. Ignore previous silliness.
1964  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: tAPI-bot - Automated crossover trade platform for BTC-e on: May 09, 2013, 02:00:42 AM
Toying with the sim right now. Is it a safe assumption that the values to set for the moving average is in days?

Python is definitely a wonderful language... I wish I knew more than just basic trouble shooting when I can't get an app to run on my linux boxes.

But now I have a problem. Running in as sim with tickers for btc_usd ltc_usd & ppc_btc with trade active for ppc_btc. I installed canopy with no errors. App has been running for about 10 minutes but nothing graphed. I am not familiar with canopy, is there anything I need to do with it?

I have python 2.7.3 and running Xubuntu 12.10.

Help? lol.
1965  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: ASICMINER: 200 TH/s has been ordered for 2-3mo deployment timeframe. on: May 09, 2013, 12:24:22 AM
some will be directed for altcoins too

That's going to be the interesting part... how much of the ASIC hash wont actually end up towards BTC....
1966  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Excuse me miners , couldn't ask a few questions please. on: May 09, 2013, 12:21:35 AM
I'm really surprised, in your analysis, you forgot to mention

Why the fuck are those cards crossfired together?

+1
1967  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: tAPI-bot - Automated crossover trade platform for BTC-e on: May 09, 2013, 12:12:05 AM
ooo, that is a really good point for which I did not think about. Maybe something for the future could be loading separate api's and separate settings per api? Assuming that's even desirable or feasible.

I'd like to improve the simulation mode to trade against a fake copy of your existing balance, adjusting it as it simulates trading.

Now that would be pretty neat. Personally, I think (if) bfl does indeed flood the market with ASICS we are going to see a surge of people looking into trading for coins (like myself) who would find much use and learning from a sim type tool (like myself).

Thank you for your work and I hope I can get to the point to send some fun to your grape juice fund for it! (gotta pay the mortgage first, boo!)
1968  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: tAPI-bot - Automated crossover trade platform for BTC-e on: May 08, 2013, 07:41:22 PM
Silly question, does this bot only handle one pair at a time? ie, could I configure the ini to trade both btc_usd & ltc_usd? If no, can I run multiple instances to cover both items of interest? [edit] I can figure this part out myself

Thanks for this and thanks even more for the sim mode. I'm not much for trading much less trade bots so thats a nice feature for us n00bs to get a grip on the bot before turning it loose. Look forward to messing with this.

[edit 2] Another question, in the sim mode, it's pretty much just presenting information as opposed to showing theoretical trades that the bot would perform if simMode was set to False?
1969  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL - You Must Confirm Your Order - AKA - Cashflow Issues? on: May 02, 2013, 07:44:34 PM
We all might be wearing diapers by the time they ship.

Touche!
1970  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Butterfly delivers | Shipping of our BitForce SC ASIC as begun! on: May 02, 2013, 03:04:01 AM
Long story short (too LATE!) we are all still fucked so what does it really matter?

I'm gonna go back to holding my breath and watching paint dry with the hazy visage of an asic device showing up at my door.
1971  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL - You Must Confirm Your Order - AKA - Cashflow Issues? on: May 02, 2013, 02:57:09 AM
They wanted people to confirm that they were OK with the power requirements. My order is still good at 163$, paid in full

dito

in all seriousness, if my lone jalapeno ships, i might have to wear a diaper for a month.
1972  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Ready to buy an ASIC miner... do they really EXIST? on: April 29, 2013, 08:00:04 PM
They just aren't pulling in much at the current difficult compared to electricity costs.

You answered your own question then - if your cards are losing money you either have to speculate on ASICs or pack it in. If you want definite delivery, see:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221220586726

wow that is amazing!

I have often thought of seeing what I could get for my September pre-order if I posted a screen with my order number.
1973  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Expected increase in Bitcoin Difficulties, in 3 - 4 months as Butterfly, ships. on: April 19, 2013, 02:28:48 PM
Regardless of what happens at ButtFuckingLabs is irrelevant since OTHER companies ARE shipping ASIC products RIGHT NOW. (anyone want to loan me 100k?)

So with that in mind, GPU should die out money wise by this time next year (assuming BFL does not ship a single unit)

If current ASIC providers ramp up production, who knows?

Difficulties will rise, blood will be spilled.

A more interesting question would be is what Alt Coin do people flock to when BTC mining is not profitable?

Personally if I ever get my ASIC from BFL (ordered is Sept w00t) I am going to rock BTC for as long as feasible and then start hoarding alt coins... but I am not really in this for the money, more the idea.
1974  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does BFL Suck? on: April 19, 2013, 02:17:57 PM
Where the fuck is my Jalapeno?

This really made my day. Been waiting since September myself.

My vote is for road trip to KC
1975  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Play a Game: I'm a Central Bank trying to keep Bitcoin from being adopted on: March 29, 2013, 05:11:40 PM
I think that the OP is spot on with a lot of these assumptions. Bitcoin, even in the current scheme of things, is a HUGE threat to the status quo for reasons painfully clear. In the 'civilized' world, banksters run EVERYTHING. Granted, I can only attest to the situation in the US, but ffs, you have to be pretty naive to think otherwise. Don't agree? Quantitative Easing. I can barely pay my bills these days cause one USD doesn't go very far these days...

Now, with that being said, if Slave St really wanted to go after BTC, my money would be on a 51% attack. MUCH easier to prep for and the desolation to the BTC economy would be as simple as flipping a switch. Same could be said in regards to the NSA... with their available computer power and toys they have lying around, they could probably do it right now if so inclined or motivated... but thats a whole other argument.
1976  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Network Ghs dropped from 60K to 40K in 4 days ?! What's up ? on: March 29, 2013, 02:02:21 PM
Its a lie! I thought it was real too..

http://www.internettrafficreport.com/

sniff sniff.. yep a lie

(omg they are attacking, we have to find out who they are and stop them, so we must now in-act some laws to take away the rights of everyone else)
(* applause now *)

Wait why arent you clapping!

lolz

boooo! way to spoil everything!

Good write up about it though, thanks for sharing.
1977  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why dont more miners mine alternative cryptos where they can make more? on: March 29, 2013, 01:54:02 PM
FPGA and the few ASIC miners out there also have much less (or no) flexibility when it comes to mining anything other than Bitcoin.  Casual miners may not bother to consider mining litecoins, and/or may not have to want to deal with anything more difficult than starting their miner and walking away.
This of course also means that in the unforseeable future, when more people have ASICs (and BFL hopefully has delivered) that the difficulty of the Bitcoin will rise unproportionally to the other currencies. This might mean that mining the other coins might be more profitable, at least for the people not using high-end chips.

Thats what I am banking on
1978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitparking PPCoin Pool - PPS, Variable Difficulty, Pays Invalids on: March 29, 2013, 01:52:07 PM
Yeah so it turns out I am a forgetful idiot and the issue was uber simple and now solved.

Kudos to doublec for not making fun of me for such a simple mistake.
1979  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why dont more miners mine alternative cryptos where they can make more? on: March 29, 2013, 05:26:24 AM
I have always been a huge fan of PPcoin for the reason you just highlighted.

1. There is an exchange to BTC
2. It's geared towards CPU and I have a LOT of pc's running both at home and work doing NOTHING.
2.1 My personal favourite is running a miner on my unraid server's amd APU. It sucks, but the damn thing barely sucks anymore juice mining then pushing HD on my network so why the hell not.
3. Most pc's have decent CPU's
4. It's fun to be an 'early adopter'
5. If PPcoin some day becomes valuable, I will be a rich man.
6. Not a day goes by that I don't hate myself for not jumping on the BTC bandwagon the first DAY I learned of it.
6.1 We should start a BTC charity for fools regrets to pay for Whiskey and smokes.
1980  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Fpga bitcoin mining available? on: March 29, 2013, 05:17:02 AM
This is a real hard time to be looking at hardware. So many unknowns about the near and not so near future. Here is a mind melter, imagine that in light of ASIC's apparent sex appeal, there is secretly 4 independent makes of ASIC being developed with a goal of 2013-14 launch. Ever shop on deal extreme? Asian manufactures are SMART SMART SMART and who knows what could be going on.

Full disclosure, I am on the list for a bfl product like most others, but this is my first financial commitment to mining and my only. To much uncertainty to really go face first into anything.

Still, I feel your pain. Every whiff of sexy hardware makes my balls hurt.
