Not to be rude, but wouldn't it make more sense to have ONE thread for your beta tests so us interested parties can keep tabs on when you are testing?

1502  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Why USB miners? on: April 05, 2014, 04:35:30 PM

Plus, not a single 1TH unit coming out right now is going to ROI per current network increases and those fuckballs at KNC, so the argument "USB won't ROI" can be replaced with "Mining hardware won't ROI" and you're more accurate.

Mining is a shitty place, but some of us like to remain involved. Smiley Smiley

I'd drink to that sir!

who is the MONSTER with 212641.67 khs on Dwarf?  Roll Eyes
Very simple, somebody with a huge number of PCs

yeah not hard to do if you have the resources to throw at it. I've 36 MHS without breaking the bank

Big miners lease hundreds of cores for short period time when difficulty is low. It is risky business, If coin go bust, they loose....

Vote for TWE at: https://comkort.com/vote

Thats a fact jack... not an undertaking to be quickly jumped into.

Exactly!

And it also allows for interesting opportunities. I don't mine BTC but I have 5 U2's for shits and giggles hashing away on the blackcoin pool. For the very little $$ they cost its nice to have some SHA hardware available. You never know if something might come along that could make the little bastards profitable.

Anyone test ig0tik3d's vs dstorm's cpu miner? Which performs better?

Sorry for a half assed answer (not in front of my box to give you exacts) but ig0tik3d's performed better for me with an FX8350 and Mint Linux

those pics earlier looked like a couple CS Aim/Awp only maps i played lots over the years.
You'd spawn with nothing but an awp sniper rifle in your hands ..fun stuff lol

ahh memories...

I tended to LOVE the deagle maps... this project has the potential to be huge! Have to dust off my 'gaming' mouse lol.

win64 cpu miner(with little improvement):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9cvOfoOekSdZTJ4cHJ5SVlVRmc/edit?usp=sharing
source code:
https://github.com/ig0tik3d/TweCoin-cpu-1.0a

example start:
Code:
minerd.exe -a twe -o stratum+tcp://pool:port -u user -p pass

address for donations TKhicHzWJK2YMGvypFcEX7dLzkZfNnD64S ))

Just getting back from work but just noticed running this that it puts a serious hit on my R9 280X.

While mining on the 280X I usually get about 670 kh/s at 96-99% gpu load. When I run this miner it drops to about 470 kh/s at 80% gpu load. I can stop the twe miner and it goes back to normal. Start the twe miner and it lowers again.

Is there a reason for this?

Try limiting your processor cores and save one for your gpu miner.

lol same here but I have faith.

Has anyone calculated which hashing algorithm has the LEAST advantage from a GPU vs. CPU?

I'm always in search of the best coin to mine on all but 1 of my cores along with my GPU miner....

I am going to start working on this. Tromp had suggested it earlier but I didn't like the idea at the time.

I will get a CPU hash rate from my CPU (AMD FX8320 - 8 cores, 3.5Ghz) and compare to average score of a GPU (R9 280x perhaps).

Could help you with that. I have a FX8350 & 270x

yes but not before the difficulty shoots to 100

any thoughts?

Superfluous ledger.ui in the -qt.pro file. Re-git and re-run qmake and it should build without the ledger.

Tried and same error.

Only thing I can think of is I recently had to install boost 1.55 for hobonickles and mayhaps that is the culprit. Will keep tinkering.

Guys,

We're sorry to announce that we are closing our skein pool. It seems that there is an exploit in the stratum that allows hashrates/shares to be falsified.

We applied the latest fixes to to our stratums but still the issue persists. If someone *cough* Ahmed *Cough* manages to find a working stratum then we will gladly re-open.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

What's your config? were help you out.

its the same one I used for-eve-er on stablehash and nut

Why is nobody mining on skein? Skein is almost always more profitable when compared to other algos. It seems that people like groestl/qubit algo more than skein for GPUs. I am not considering Scrypt since ASICs are out already for Scrypt.

Someone on reddit had the idea to make a profit switching pool to different algo...I think that will make all algos equally profitable.

Is there any update on swapping one of the algos with a new one?....I know Neuromode is collecting the huge data.....

I hope only those algos are selected which are good to GPUs...I mean low wattage and low temps....

SHHHHHHHHH!!! Damnit man I love the <3k diff!!!!

But you are right. When I was done jumping out the proverbial window when I lost nut2pools, I switched to groestl for a bit and the earnings are way lower then with skein.

How can we know that a particular pool is compromised before the pool itself announced?

We can't. We just need to trust the pool operators to monitor their pools and deal with these users appropriately. Only when a pool is compromised is it possible to investigate and work out a fix.
I'm keeping a close eye on my pool.

The issue is the pools ops cant see it either. The shares come in, stratum accepts them, they get counted for the rewards. It's only after a while when you see that userx hasn't found a block after x time that you can SUSPECT that they are cheating. If we banned every user that had an unlucky spell though you'd all get banned sooner or later.

At some stage i will get the issue fixed but i don't have the time right now so rather than let people steal from legitimate miners, we decided to shut the pool rather than let the thieves prosper. Hope you understand.

Regards

Nut

You are honest. Thank you for letting every one know. This will prevent new people from getting into trouble.

Will P2POOLS also have same problem? If not why dont someone create a p2pool?

hear hear to this!
