801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/pay-here — Guldenwallet for iOS Pre-Release on: September 17, 2014, 02:20:56 PM
I take it while the team is focused on updating to Digishield there is a good possibility we won't see any new merchants for Guldencoin this month.
Another option is getting onto coinpayments as I posted 10 days ago.

They include the top 3 - 5 coins.

I won't put a vote in until I hear peoples responses to this and if they would use any of the merchants on here.

Coinpayment vote has started. I have purchased twice from 2 different stores with dogecoin before and since I am US based I would use / spend NLG there, they only take in cryptos and store owners can decide to keep them or sell them for btc on the exchanges. There is no conversion to US or Euro after when the order has been placed. I will put in a vote later, also don't try voting more then once unless you coming from a different IP, using a different and valid email and sending coins from a different wallet address. They have good checks in place.

https://www.coinpayments.net/vote
https://www.coinpayments.net/vote-results
https://www.coinpayments.net/help-charity-vote

Getting onto Coinpayments will not increase the value of NLG but will give users more options to spend coins. I think I did mention before that NLGs current merchants are 10 times better then the ones listed on coinpayments but you never know if they might bag a few big merchants in the future and we miss out.
However if I was coinpayments though I wouldn't be using a voting system to get coins listed because they end up adding the shit coins trying to create false value.

I think it's not much benefit for us in the Netherlands but I will put in a vote for people that want to use NLG to buy goods from them. Keep us posted if we going to vote.

I'll say this about coinpayments-

While it may be beneficial to have another payment processor for those services already using it, or looking to use it, it isn't that big of an advantage to us to get on there right now.  The reason being that getting NLG accepted to coinpayments doesn't mean we start getting accepted by the companies listed there(a lot of which are broken storefronts/dead links).  The merchants get to chose which coins they accept.  A lot of them just use it for BTC/LTC/DOGE.  So you would still need to get these merchants to agree to accept NLG.  However, it would give merchants the choice of how to accept NLG.

I say make the push if the community absolutely wants it, but at this time there are greater priorities to think about.

Nothing is dead ... it's just a little bit silent and an op with many dead links  Roll Eyes

But we have a very good working pool at criptoe.com

It seems there are 2 miners (11.83 MH) still mining Klondike coin
Who are they? Fuse?

No I'm also mining there from time to time.

I am not one of the miners on there.

I should apologize for not updating here in forever and a day.  I'm sorry I have not touched base with the community on the status of development.  So here goes-

Shortly after making progress on the wallet updates back in July, key members of the CripToe team went silent due to personal obligations/problems.  At that point I lost 2 key members of the "coding team".  I myself had things happen that took me away from the project(new house, new job, etc.).  So the project went cold for some time.  At this point, now that things have slowed down with personal stuff, the team is starting to reevaluate the development of KDC.  Let me clarify this statement.  We're not giving up on KDC, we just need to rethink our strategy on development.  So that's where we're at, even though that's probably not what everyone wanted to hear.

Just to correct things. We put less than 8th of our pool hashrate to NLG.

CleverMining always had an algorithm to limit amount of hashrate pointed at any coin depending on coin difficulty, to don't pump the coin difficulty too much. It works great with DigiShield coins and works well with most KGW coins. I'm not sure why NLG is different here. Maybe KGW doesn't work well with longer times between blocks (most coins these days have 60-second blocks)?

What I did is limited amount of hashpower pointed to NLG to 1/8th of what we point at any other coin with the same difficulty. This isn't related to our total pool hashrate, it's related only to coin difficulty and expected time to find a block. We adjust our maximum allowed hashrate to coin difficulty to don't find blocks too fast. NLG has 8x handicap here from now on. This means we allow 8x less hashpower pointed to NLG than to other coins at the same difficulty.

NLG difficulty already dropped after this change and remains steady. Times between blocks started being more regular. I hope this will help regular pools to also find good blocks and will prevent high difficulty jumps and long times between blocks.

We don't want to withdraw away completely from NLG as we have responsibilities to our users. We promised them to maximize their profits and to mine coins which are profitable. But we also don't want to harm coins and this is why I wanted to find some middle ground between CleverMining users interests and Guldencoin community interests. I hope I found the right balance. I will keep this 8x handicap until Sep 26th when I heard you plan to launch the new difficulty readjustment algorithm.

Thanks for stepping up and making the change, it helps us all in the long run!

Agreed.

Also, thanks for clarifying the changes that were made.  +1

Terk has gotten back to me.  He had originally limited the hashrate that was mining on NLG to a 4th of the total hashrate of the pool.  He has decreased that to an 8th of the total hashrate.  He asked that we monitor the chain and let him know how it looks.

While he hasn't agreed to stop mining NLG, he did agree to work with us to get things running smoothly.

I have msg'd Terk, the OP for Clevermining, and kindly asked that he remove NLG from the pool.  I'll see what he says.

However, a difficulty algorithm change needs to happen soon.  KNC starts shipping batch 1 of the titans this week.  This is an event as big, if not bigger, as when scrypt coins went from GPUs to ASICs.  Expect some crazy things to happen in crypto in the next few weeks.

the price is only doing down because the Bittrex wallets are disabled most of the time today

This.  I would have tried to pick up 100k or so if I could have gotten BTC into Bittrex.

This is going on for weeks already. Look at the hashrate chart of GuldencoinTrader http://www.guldencointrader.nl/hashrate.php. Says enough...

When we hit higher ground this will end. Till that time, well, we see...

This isn't an exploit with hashrate.  In fact, if this is the exploit I think it is, you don't need a lot of hashrate to do it.

...knip...

Anyone else noticing the extremely long lag on the blockchain right now?  It was like 2 hours of no updates, then all of a sudden we jumped 6 blocks.  My wallet, the seeds page, and the exchanges all had the same issue.

-Fuse

EDIT- Looks like the total network hashrate halved, and the block times are coming in faster than normal.  Not saying this is what it is, but I've seen this with coins being attacked with exploit attacks.  I would suggest pool ops keep an eye on your pools.

EDIT- Looks like we're cracking blocks every 5 seconds.  This isn't normal.

EDIT- https://explorer.guldencoin.com/#/address/Gf7wGAwJGDLfoHcNCRLKZqpk2EQU5ixA6c - our mystery wallet claiming all these blocks right now.

We're watching this closely right now..
What seems to have happened is that a jumppool/multipool mined until KGW changed the difficulty to 535 (block 116955).
After that the multipool left and the remaining miners had a hard time mining blocks.
A few hours later two blocks were mined and the difficulty dropped to 354 (block 116957). At that point the multipool started mining NLG again. Since about 2:30 hours of blocks were missing the KGW kept difficulty low so the pool could mine a lot of blocks very fast. Other miners also got some blocks, but G7f got most of them because they have a lot of hashing power.
We're now at block 117047 with diff 483. The last two blocks were not mined by the multipool, it seems they have left again.

The main problem here is the huge spike in block-time which causes delay in transactions being confirmed.
This is unacceptable and we're doing extensive research on the problem and are looking at some solutions. But don't expect anything too soon, it's important to make rational decisions and not jump too quickly in a situation like this.

People that know me know I'm the last person to make stupid panicked decisions.  That being said, I think a form of Digishield, or similar, needs to be added to the roadmap ASAP.  That, or you just ask the pool to stop mining NLG.  Pool OPs are usually pretty respectful of coin devs.  The other option is to flat out block the IP range of the pool in the wallet code, and effectively just shut them out.  12 second block times aren't normal, regardless.  Especially with a difficulty of 300+.

Looks like our friend stopped for right now.  8 minutes since last block time, and the network hashrate is back up to what it was before.  IMO, this is a definite exploit attack.

EDIT- Nevermind... he's back at it again.

If anyone is interested in buying some NLG with LTC, let me know.  I'd like to diversify a little more, and I don't want to drop the prices on the exchanges and deal with the trading fees.

Possibly interested in trading 100k-150k if the price is right.  PM me if you're interested.

-Fuse

Of course I want them :-) PM me your offer for 150K (or more if you want!)

PM'd.

There are some on Bluetrade @0.0008LTC.
It matches the recent trade history so you won't disturb the market. The tradingfee @Bluetrade is 0.25%. That's fair.

I'll keep my eye on Bluetrade.  I didn't know they had NLG/LTC.  Too bad they don't have the volume though, that would have been an easy trade.

Educated miner?

I paid around 6BTC for my 20(about $165/ea at the time), and I've ROI'd 5 to 6 times over, literally.  People always talk about ROI, but there are many factors that come into play.  Like actively watching coin releases and exchange prices.  No gear will ROI if you just set it on a multipool and forget about it.  If it would, the companies that make the gear would just "stress test" the gear until it wasn't profitable... oh wait, they already do that.

Educated miners know how to ROI on gear that isn't currently profitable.

-Fuse

I'm not one to call bullshit on any one, but you're suggesting that you've made $15K (on the low-end) in approximately 6 months, just mining / selling.  I'm not talking about trading that same earned coin constantly - i'm talking about straight mining.  Yea - not buying that at all.  Even switching and following scrypt coins (which is a PITA to be honest, but I'll give you that maybe you are), I find it highly suspect that you have that kind of return in 6 months.

People who know me here know I tell it straight.

Mined POT, made enough to cover most of the ROI on the initial gear.  Started on NLG, and in the last couple weeks saw my holding equate to about 30-33BTC.  I've just stuck to NLG even though it's not producing much anymore just because I haven't had the time to research new coins.  Members of the CripToe team did the same with more gear, and they are sitting returns much higher than mine.

Total hashpower = 18MH(with two blades added @ $300 each at the time)

Do your homework, homie... it's not rocket science.

-Fuse

Nice returns! I was won of the first people to mine Black Coin. Had 13.5 and ended up selling out for $150. I'm still kicking myself because I could have got $4.5k

Exactly... watching the markets and following trends make people money.  I sold my first lot of LTC(280 to be exact) to buy a motherboard and CPU off Amazon.  I later mined another 300.  I sold that 300 for TAG, and sold that TAG and bought 20 GPUs, and all the fixings to go with them.  This was before ASICs.  I lost money in selling, and gained money in selling.  I didn't actively trade on exchanges, I just watched the markets.  Daily volume is a great indicator of what to expect in short term price.  Follow the averages, and you'll be good.  Now mind you, I'm not an expert speculator.  I've just been watching this stuff long enough to pick a winner once in a while and not lose my shirt on an equipment purchase.

Vesper has said it numerous times in these forums- "equipment in hand now is better than equipment in hand later".

Just make it work for you, and don't be afraid to stray outside of the norm.

I can attest that his POT selloff pretty much set him solid in the bank. For those who may not remember, pot tripled in price for a brief moment before crashing, and a few lucky folks sold at that peak. I wish I was one of them..

Sold all my POT holdings at 3400-3450.  If you go back and look at the charts, you'll see why the initial ROI was easily made.  After that, it was pretty much running profits.

That was a good day for the CripToe team.

I would be willing to let these go for $200 for a box of 20, shipped. Thats $10 ea... a great bargain!!!  Grin Grin Grin

Unfortunately, it's still not a bargain for the educated miner...

http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/litecoin-mining-calculator/?h=7200&p=140.00&pc=0.10&pf=0.00&d=28123.64050683&r=50.00000000&er=0.01118005&btcer=496.05000000&hc=0.00

Sorry bud, shipping just doesn't make these worth it.  In addition to the cumbersome deployment of 20 miners, the cost and ROI just aren't there for $200.

I feel your pain, I bought 20 at the time they came out ($180/ea = $3600).  I know they'll never ROI at this point.

And you're happy about this? Are you not a supporter of this coin? Or are you merely a parasite trying to drive down the price for your own gain?

Anyways great job devs, keep up the good work.

I think he means that one day there will be so many merchants accepting the coin that it will be impossible to keep up with the announcements.  Not a knock on NLG, but rather a compliment.

Would millions of people all over the world embrace Islam if it was a harsh and inhumane way of life?

Because IS buries you alive when you don't.  I know that's not worldwide, but you're telling me you would stand against IS in a city like Raqqa?

I'm not arguing against Islam.  I am arguing against IS taking the Quran, and turning it into a manual of how to take over the world.

It's the same with Westboro Baptist Church.  Sure they are Christian, but they are bat-shit crazy.... just like IS.  Bro.
