1381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POT] PotCoin Launches Today 01/21 @ 4:20 on: January 25, 2014, 01:13:43 AM
Do you think that this coin has future? The devs do not seem to be very active.

It does if people continue to mine and talk about it.  If we let it die, then it dies.  What it needs is an exchange, but no exchange would touch this with the network hash rate it has.  So it needs a lot of new users to push that rate up.  If we don't get that, the coin will most likely fall to the wayside.

there are soooo many coins on cryptsy that are well below the current network hashrate of POT.  BBQcoin, spots, americancoin, orbitcoin.  the list goes on and on.  this coin does have a bright future.  it was only release 3 days ago.  the devs have been active if you would read the forum.  But remember its only been three days and the hashrate is well over some that have been around since mid last year.  Lets take this coin for a ride.

Yes, there are coins with less hashrate on cryptsy now that they've been around a while, but BBQ and Spots had more pronounced releases with larger community buy in.  Spots topped Coinwarz for a very long time.  BBQ was out way before cryptsy was even a thought.  I don't know about americancoin or orbitcoin, but if potcoin is going to succeed, it needs a bigger network base.  It will not make it to cryptsy if the hashrate doesn't pick up and no one is buying them up.  Seems like for every 20 sell posts there's one buy post, and who knows if it's legit.

I'm not bashing this coin, or that coin.  I want this coin to succeed.  I'm just calling it how I've seen it since I've been around on the forums.  The roll out was smooth, there was no scam pools that tend to plague coin releases, and everyone seems to be genuinely nice in the thread to each other.  Maybe it's the fact that they're all baked, or the fact that they are all just genuinely nice.  Either way, that goes a long way for a community.  That's why I started the POT.CripToe.Com potcoin pool.  I wanted to provide another pool to the community to give them more options.

The only criticism I have is that my pool isn't listed in the OP  Grin

Who cares if newegg is sold out. These aren't special motherboards, they are budget motherboards, designed to be cheap. They offer no advantages for most users above the other choices on the market. They are a great deal at $60-70, but there is no point in buying them at $170 unless someone doesn't understand how to do this the right way.

All that aside, Culexevilman has requests for these at $170 shipped, day in and day out.  Yes, that is overpriced.  Yes, they do not offer anything different with the exception of the added molex power connector at the board.  But people want them.  That's why year old reference 7950s are being listed on Newegg for $430.  People will pay for equipment they want, even if it's grossly overpriced.

I say let the new guy try to do some business with these.  He's obviously invested into this now if that's truly how many he bought in the picture.

Strengthening the Potcoin network:

In an attempt to solidify the Potcoin node network, pool ops, please post up an addnode to your pool.  If we can compile a list of the static pool nodes, we can ensure that not only new users will have a good static list of nodes, but also pools will have a faster block submit time between each other.

POT.CripToe.Com's node address:

Code:
Addnode=162.243.214.135

Feel free to add this to your configs.  This node is hosted on a 1Gig connection, and running on a RAID 10 SSD array.

-Fuse

Another call to pool operators to help solidify the Potcoin node network.

Also, starting now:

Pot.CripToe.Com will be doing a 10POT block finder bonus until further notice.

Thanks for the pointers. Can someone recommend a trusted escrow provider? I'll research this, and am happy to offer it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.0

This is the escrow list provided in the goods section.  Usually you just get in touch with someone and ask if they will provide escrow for sales.  Fees, if any, can be paid by the buyer or the seller.

I hate to be "that guy" but Newegg has them in stock (and they are selling them on eBay here for $59.99)...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASRock-H81-Pro-BTC-LGA-1150-Intel-H81-HDMI-SATA-6Gb-s-USB-3-0-ATX-Intel-Motherbo-/291064280191?pt=Motherboards&hash=item43c4c8747f

Granted, its limited "1 per customer"

Good find!

You can buy these here, shipped from Taiwan, for about $15 less.  You should try to match the that price, or offer a discount on shipping for orders of multiple units.  Buying multiples from culexevilman would be cheaper, and he's a senior member with rep.

Also, secure a reputable escrow service and offer it in the thread.  You won't get many takers on this as a brand new account.

Wow... thanks for the share, Dabs.  This is really interesting.  ROI would be a bit tricky on these though.  That would be the only thing holding me back.

So will it actually dual mine BTC and scrypt, or just one at a time?  If it was both, that would seal the deal for me.  I really like the GridSeed units, but like hell I'm going to drop 5 BTC on a unit right now.  I really do believe that this will be the year of the $5k-$10k Bitcoin.

1389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Mandatory update to v 1.3 on: January 24, 2014, 04:41:47 PM
Can't wait untill the 2nd of February, as I will start mining this coin again then.

If everyone will wait, I'm sure it won't get fixed. The date is probably an estimation of blocks required and how much time it will take for the network to reach it. if you want to power through a fork issue, you need to collaborate on putting all hashpower possible on the longest chain. (coinwarz, botpool, tagmining, hashfaster, cryptopools, cryptopool are currently on it i believe)

i went through the fork issue mid-november (i believe) and btcxpress helped a bit pushing through it, yeah he profited a lot of it probably but that's how you get it done. power through with all hashing power in the longest chain

The fix this time is set at a specific date.  So regardless of how fast we push through blocks, we're still working against time.

Per the code change in the last update, in src/main.h (as seen on github)
Code:
+static const unsigned int FIX_SWITCH_TIME = 1391299200; // Block reward fix, PoS reward fix, Trust Fix. Feb 2 at 00:00:00 GMT.

24Kilo,  Don't fret, mate.  It took me forever to find the sweet spot on my 270Xs.  Go back a few pages and you'll see.  They were finicky as all hell.  I was sub-400 for like an hour of tweaking, then all of a sudden I changed something and they hit 450kh.  Worst case scenario, I'll buy them from you at 50% of MSRP  Grin

Can't seem to find that page... right now if you were local... I would give them to you!!!

Booking a ticket now.  See you in 24 hours lol.

I think the trick for me was dropping the "-g" switch in the batch file.  Let me find that page...

Found it - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=324938.msg4399407#msg4399407

So I still run with the "-g" switch, but I think I've bumped the GPU-Engine down a little for the Sapphire cards I run in my main rig now.  I keep all the pool and fan settings in the config file.  Just my preference, but I try to run with the minimal amount of settings and config options.  Less for me to mess up.

Update...

03:00 here is Sydney...

I put two more miners online today...

Corsair RM850 PSU
ASRock 970 Extreme 4 MB
AMD Sempron 145 CPU
Patroit DDR3 1333 2GB RAM
WD 320GB Mobile HDD

one miner has 3X270 and one miner has 3X270X - all ASUS cards.

I am still making no progress with BAMT... somehow it just elludes me... so I installed Windows 7 and cgminer 3.7.2... and the best I can get 340Kh/s to 350Kh/s out of any of my cards... tried every trick in the book... I would call out Vesper on his claims... but I know he simply so far ahead of me that I will never catch up... pretty bummed out... could have put 3 - 2x280X rigs online for the price of these 270 rigs.

On a brighter note... my rig running a pair of ASUS 280x is running stable at 800KH/s plus pulling 700W from the wall... with a bigger PSU... I think I could hit 850Kh/s.

I have no idea what I am doing wrong... but not one single one of my cards will run even close to TC24000... most will not even run 11000... tried 1 thread... various lookup gaps... no setting except specifying the TC... no go.

Bought a handful of new 8GB 3.0USB sticks... so have another go at BAMT... just to tired and cranky to sleep or keep hammering away at this.

I am about ready to pay for a ticket to fly Vesper over.

Fuse, could you watch my stats for awhile. I'm testing something. (I got a Dual Miner, and I think it's the real thing.) I'm going to sleep and let this thing run.

Which stats mate?  Just hash rate and share rate?

So TigerDirect now accepts Bitcoin, and they've "partnered with AMD" to deliver "equipment for mining".  Anyone want to speculate on how long it takes before TigerDirect has the exclusive release on AMD mining specific graphics cards?

I love how this is announced though and Bitcoin tanks.  Maybe TigerDirect bought a shit-ton of bitcoin, dumped to drive the price down, just so they can earn more bitcoin on the sale and wait for the price to go back up.  It's what I would do.

Is it Saturday yet?

I'd really like to bring the TAG pool down for MPOS updates soon.  I'm wondering if I should just wait until February 1st when everything will be like Y2K.  The only issue I would have is the updates would break the CSS changes I had to make so most of the stuff on the site doesn't break when you resize the window.  I really need a web design code monkey.  That way I can be like:

Not sure if I missed the memo, but was there an increase in the requirements for member levels?  It seems that yesterday or the day before I was a Sr. Member, and now I'm a full member.  As a pool OP, I make a lot of posts, so I know it can't be due to inactivity.

Any ideas?

Pot.CripToe.Com payout info:

We had a hiccup while I was asleep last night.  MPOS has a code for liquid fund payouts.  Basically it takes the liquid funds out of the wallet so there is a large amount sitting on the pool at any given time.  For some reason the liquid payout processed before the blocks confirmed, causing a negative balance and stopping the payout cronjob.  So we would peg another block, the payouts were covered, and then we went back into the red.  I've increase the payout confirmation, and it should resolved now.

I sincerely apologize to anyone inconvenienced by this.
