While I totally get the valor in asking large pools to step down a bit, it's sortof like entering your work sedan in a race against supercars and asking them to go easy on  you. It's everyone for themselves out here, and the asian side of the water always has more power, and they'll do what they want with it.

In other news, I could setup a VPS in Tokyo ... lol

Race you to it lol

Botpool is a Chinese pool.  I'm not sure I've ever seen the ops here in the thread.

Even if we could get through to them, good luck getting them to get their miners to scale back.  What the network needs is another Asian TAG pool.  I'm really surprised no one has stepped up and said they were going to run one.  If I had the resources to start one up there, I would be all over it.  There is a lot of money to be made as an Asian TAG pool.

Looks like Tagmining, Botpool and the explorer are all on the same page now.  Hashfaster and Cryptopools.com are like 50 blocks back on another chain.

I'm still banking on whatever the explorer is showing as the correct block.  It also seems that if Tagmining pulls ahead on the chain for whatever reason that the blockchain eventually catches up to us.  I don't know if it's luck, but I'm putting all my eggs in my own basket.

Looks like we forked again.  Tagmining is 2-3 blocks ahead of the explorer, botpool, hashfaster, and cryptopools.  Plus I had a string of 6 orphans in a row, with 12 orphans in the last 24 hours.

This needs to be fixed.  This isn't something that just happens.  This is a problem.

EDIT- Now we are on the same block, but different difficulties.

EDIT- Ahead a block, again.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, welcome home, 24Kilo.  Good seeing you on the top 15 list, beating Vesper too lol.

Question for everyone in the US... does anyone know a source to buy Newegg gift cards with BTC?  As much as I hate them after their BS with cancelling my orders 3 times, they have stock in some gear I want to buy.

Second question... anyone have any experience with ordering items o Amazon that say something like "item ships in 2-5 weeks"?  Just wondering how accurate that measure is.

Yes I might lose coins but people will lose confidence in Tag. I might know when a fork going on, but there isn't a warning sign that pops up on exchanges or wallets warning users if there is currently a fork.

We've had 2 forks within 48 hours (I'm guessing) with orphans left right and center and no changes even getting thought about. A fork prone coin is hardly going to be taken seriously when people start losing coins depositing and withdrawing from exchanges. Having said that I know it's important to not rush into a fix, better to get it right than to create other different problems.

Re. BCX well I hope his motivation was justified. I went back over that section of the thread, he told people what he was doing, mining all the forks then later strengthening one fork while killing off others, and told everyone which fork to throw hash onto. Bad goodguy or good badguy? He never did clear up what he had against Bigvern, just that they had settled their disagreement.

I agree 100% with the confidence statement.  My pool is running at like 20% orphans for the last 24 hours, and about 10% for the last 7 days.  I know a lot of people just accept it, but it's very concerning when I strive to make my pool the best I can.  Whether miners lose confidence in my pool or not, it's not something I'm ok with.

I'd still like to see someone come up with some links to another coin that had similar issues to find out what the resolution is.  It would be nice to have some info to base the orphan/fork issue on.

That being said, I'm 100% behind TAG still.  I know it's still young in it's age, and I can appreciate the fact that it will have some growing pains.  I just wish I had more info to base my speculation on as far as what is going on.  Yes... speculation.

Just an update that spork985 AKA IcyHash still has not responded to me once. Since it has now been 7 days since I first began attempting to contact him via multiple PMs and thread posts, and not one response received, I'm starting to think I may never see the Clocks or Coinyes that this guy has taken from me. oh well, 24 hrs of hash wasted I guess, lesson learned. Just view my last 10 posts if you want to see the story background. The sad thing is that this guy is still spamming his pool in other threads, hosting coin giveaways, and all kinds of other shit. Somebody really needs to put a warning next to his name or something.

Should this situation ever even be remotely addressed, I will update here. I'm over it at this point. I just hate to see him being allowed to spam his pool all around the forum, when clearly he isn't being as honest or responsible as many of his insult-filled posts try to make him out to be.

BEWARE OF ICYHASH / SPORK985. 2 different Coins missing 7 days, zero response to 4 PMs or 6 thread call-outs. Makes me sad.

Submit a scam report here:

There are plenty of people in this thread that would probably vouch for your accusations.

What happens when withdrawals from an exchange go into thin air?

You lose the coins.  Generally a good idea not to exchange coins during a fork.  You never know what's going to happen.  Now if you were to exchange coins to another coin, you're basically walking away with free coin.  Which is what BCX claimed he was going to do to cryptsy... like revenge for something bigvern did.  He had it out for him for some reason.

All the action happens when I am up in the air, and the weekend to boot..Smiley... as usual the blockchain sorted itself out...I think you all sorted the network out without my help - in any case all I can do is direct to the longest blockchain..Smiley

And if anyone had my direct connection info, no use when I am 30,000 feet up...

No plans at this stage to change anything in the coin regarding difficulty changes

as for the link at https://www.hashco.ws/stats/, I think they just stopped mining...

Currently in Detroit airport waiting flight to fly to Washington..

I let HashCows know last night that there was a fork, and they got back to me letting me know they suspended TAG mining.  I haven't notified them yet that it's resolved  Wink

That's a reason the difficulty is under 150 right now lol.

I still think there needs to be some investigation into the orphans.  I'm sitting at about 10% orphans on the pool for the week.  All of this mess with possible forks/actual forks and the occurrence of all the orphans this week seem too coincidental.  Whether it's a direct relation to the difficulty swings or the increased hashrate, or whatever... it needs to be looked at.

Does anyone have any empirical evidence of other coins having high orphan rates for comparison?

Received my cards earlier this week.  Shipping time was just as expected coming from EU to west coast USA, during a polar vortex.  So very happy with the service and communication Mateo provided.  Highly recommended.  I have updated his trust rating as well for the purchase.

I will definitely be doing business with him again in the future.

5th Jackpot

Alrighty folks, here's the info:

There were 334 total rounds for the week.  To be eligible for this jackpot, you would have needed to submit shares to 75% of those rounds, equaling 250 rounds.  There were 24(woot) people who qualified for the jackpot.  This was out of 384(Shocked) miners who mined on the pool this week.  The qualifying miners are as follows:

AFKMPEG
ahczbhht1989
anchous
Bodamn
clxy
emvasquez
flywin
ftc102
iralee3c
johndec
kolednik
kubur
manana
pepminer
Sergik
TagCoinDaddy
tiger
vantaggg
vesperwillow
wgs520  (previous week win - excluded)
wujizhu
xjf
xmwxw
zybqe177

This week's and last week's total fees and donations equal roughly 240TAG(AGAIN lol), about the same as last week.  So half of that, the total jackpot purse, is 120TAG.

This week's winners are as follows:

1st place -  AFKMPEG           60TAG  - TXID ba46f5a7eab3e0ce315a53a746b5cad69f6da87f0409c92645d06ed70cec8158
2nd place - vantaggg           36TAG  - TXID 2a8a5436774d80f8982ef3fcb4a790bf9d5ebb877a91743b483144022f393b63
3rd place -  emvasquez        24TAG  - TXID a9394c813243dfe3dce2b4e2b1db7d69fc319ecc260fd10918c20367ba103556

Payments will be sent shortly, and TXID numbers will be posted above.

Congratulations, miners!  Good luck to everyone next week!

FYI

I have disabled the user API functions temporarily.  Initial results are a 80% decrease in the database CPU usage.  I know a few of you count on the API, but I want to see what can be done to make things peppier.  I'll continue to monitor TOP on the server to see if anything changes.  If not, it's a staying off until TheSerapher makes changes to the API calls to the DB.  It's basically the same calls the live dashboard made.

Alrighty, I'm awake.  Other than the slow load time while I was asleep, and the continuing orphan issue, we're going ok.  I'll be doing the jackpot soon, so hang tight for that.

As far as the front end loading slow... I'm not sure what's going on.  No issues on the provider's side.  The back end is working ok.  Vesper might be correct in that it's an attack, but my provider hasn't contacted me about a possible DDOS, and the charts look ok.  It may just be that 450MH+ is too much for our humble little server.  IDK... I'll watch it through the day and see what's going on.

Alrighty folks, I'm going to go pass out.  Don't burn the world down while I'm asleep please.  If the blockchain gets jacked up, and Tagmining is borked and I'm not awake, please point your miners elsewhere until I can do damage control in the morning.

BOTpool is now the same the same as TAG, IT and HASH... and the Explorer on 27573 as well...

All pools and explorer are on 27574 at the moment with matching matching difficulty of 70.

Have look at the orphans on all the pools... BOT got hammered... even Scryptmining had an orphan... the only reason IT has no orphans is because there is only 5Mh/s there at the moment.

Fuse... here is the orphan problem exposed.

EDIT - Both times I have seen this... it started with BOT getting hit with literally double hash-rate... 2500Mh/s and 1900Mh/s... the only reason I picked it up either time is because I have miners spread across several pools and notice that 'current block' and 'difficulty' does not match... and each time BOT was holding massive hash-rate, then lagged out and then taken off-line and restarted. Last time BOT was offline for quite a while and TAG was the fail over as the hash-rate doubled quickly... but each time the difficulty drops dramatically and there are lots of orphans.

If this is in fact a difficulty issue, maybe the devs need to rethink the way the difficulty adjusts.  Instead of having a retarget every block, maybe set it to 10-20 blocks or even higher.  IDK.  It just seems like there are a lot of issues lately with the increased hashrate.  I just want to go to sleep and wake up knowing things aren't going to explode when I'm asleep.  Damn sleep messing everything up lol.

The Block Explorer just reset to 27536?!?!?!

Now to 27572!!!!

OK what's the deal with that? Last time Tagmining was on the same fork as the block explorer and stayed safe. This time Botpool was on the same fork as the block explorer, but this time the explorer gets reset, and Botpool lost out both times.  Sad

Is there a preference for what happens based on what any or all of the exchanges are on or something?

I think someone reset the block explorer, and it just synced with the majority of the pools that we on the higher block height.  If there was a preference to what pools or exchanges it follows, that would be a huge loophole that everyone would be bidding on to be "the one".  I would sell my wife for it just so I didn't have to worry that when go to sleep the pool is going to follow the wrong fork.  That's nerve-wracking.
