You can actually rent 10 mega hash per day for 0.2btc and you mine 15-20k of potcoins out of it.

Joe

Can tell you know nothing about mining this coin... I have been running 10.5Mh/s on this coin for nearly 2 days straight... in the past 24 hours my payout was exactly 8,925.63113283POT before pool fees, transaction fees, etc... and that was mining through a period of difficulty of 4(well over 5)... even if the pool was 100% efficient... at best the payout been less than 10,000POT... so you would need nearly 3 days to get 20,000POT at cost of 0.2 per day... 3 x 0.2BTC = 0.6BTC... so you want to buy POT for less then 1BTC per 20,000POT.

for 20k, I wouldnt buy it, just would run 10mghash for one day at 0.2btc/day, except if someone apply that pricing but people are mostly looking for 1btc \o/

Joe

And so if your 20,000POT cost you 0.6BTC... how cheap would you sell it... how much less than 1BTC would you accept?

Any price less than 1BTC for 20,000POT is a bargain... the cheapest I have sold is 0.85BTC for 20,000POT... not anymore... not sure I would even sell for 1BTC for 20,000POT.

24Kilo is spot on with his numbers, both with mining and with sales.

Selling for less than 0.05BTC per 1k is giving someone a really great discount.  In fact, if I had BTC that wasn't in reserve for equipment purchases, I'd be scooping up all the sub 0.07BTC per 1k sales I've seen, both here and on Reddit.

This will be go to the moon.  I wouldn't have created a pool for it if it wasn't.

I have an issue with your video.  I am suspicious that your 'rage' is just a diversion from the fact that perhaps you filmed it intentionally with supposed focus and exposure issues.  You were blaming the monitor but clearly the camera was the issue.  Can you please make another video and this time make a greater effort to provide footage that can be verified? Thanks.

Exactly what I was thinking, and why I said what I said in my comment of this.  Something doesn't add up.  His actions in the video were erratic and looked almost Tourrettes-like.  The part where he curses his $2000 computer, and blames the video not focusing on the 28" monitor not being good enough for the video just seems off.  Why is he using a shitty camera phone quality video to disprove the community skepticism, and not a program like fraps or camtasia?

As noted above, at least one verifiable example of this thing doing what you claim it may, would "help" taking the claims any seriously. Otherwise, you are selling a packaging box of HD TV for a full price of TV, without any assurance that the TV is indeed inside.
So, please "plug it in" and show us "Myth Busters" episode.

It's just like the videos of "ASIC" devices hashing away to get pre-order customers, and they end up being vaporware.

My suggestion to EK is to have a reputable member of the Bitcoin community test this program and validate it's legitimacy.

Anyone think it would be easier to start mining on a clean install of ubuntu? Started with that but couldn't figure out how to compile anything or run anything or whatever you do in linux.

I love, love, love linux... but I hate linux.  I'd much rather install windows on a computer here and there to mine with.  You don't even need to activate it.  As long as it starts up, it will mine.  Now, if you're running a farm... BAMT or linux all the way.  If you're really good, install linux on a live, persistent flash drive, and then make an image of the drive and use it on the other computers.  Or... use BAMT lol.

But I'm rolling deep with windows miners right now, so to each their own.

Peeps:

Also... if I've done any business with anyone here, can you please update my trust rating with our deals?  I will do the same in return.

Thanks!

You say it's for research only, but at the end of your video you say the bitcoins in the address are "stolen".  You little comic shows your true intention of just stealing people's coins.  If you were going to do this, why would you announce it?  Wouldn't you just quietly steal all the bitcoins you could find?  It makes no sense.

And then to top it off, if it really is for research, why wouldn't you just donate the knowledge to the development team to help fix the security hole that you're claiming exists?  You have the possibility of earning more money in donations from the community by providing a fix for what you're trying to prove is a security flaw.  Hell, I'd donate bitcoin to you if you were doing this for the good of the community.  But 2BTC for a copy... it makes no sense.  If it did what you say it does, and it could have very well be proven in the profanity-laced and almost tourettes-like video, why wouldn't you be charging more for it.  2BTC is chump change if this is legit.

Something doesn't add up.  Just my $0.02.

Bad etiquette, man.  This is an into thread for the devs.  Not the coin announcement thread.

That's like taking 5 hits in a cipher and passing the next guy a roach.

I know, I double post a lot... but it's my thread, right lol.

So about the only good thing that came out of today was that when I got home, 2 of my Gigabyte 270s were at the door.  They shipped in three separate shipments I guess.

So I popped the bad boy in this computer, pulled the settings from the mining hardware comparison page, and boom...

450KH/S on a $180(shipped) card.  Booya!

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.  I'm guessing Vesper could get 750+ out of it, but I'm happy with what I'm seeing lol.

Hello miners,
After several days of mining TAGs on tagmining.com I have a problem with logging. When I try to log in it says:
Unable to login: Account is locked. Please contact site support.

Do not know what to do? Does anyone have the same problem?

Daniel_X

Fuse (above) is the admin, he will fix you soon.

I wish I had 11 BTC too. hehe. I spent all of my one bitcoin to buy a few billion moon coins, and I think that might have been a mistake. Well, here's hoping it goes to the moon this week.

If you make a million dollars, can I borrow the BTC then?  Grin

@Dabs, thanks for the review of the dual miner.  Interesting little device.  I am assuming the manufacturer has them priced at the absolute max the market will bear.  If they were about 25% cheaper, I'd consider some, but since my winter/summer electric rates are around $0.14/$0.17, the benefit just isn't there yet.  Certainly watching.

Cheapest I can get them is 0.11 BTC shipped from China to me, if I order 300 units. So let's pretend that Fuse orders 100, Vesper 100, me 50, and you 50, we meet the minimum 300 units to get that price. I prefer to deal with as few buyers as possible, because it's a royal headache to package 300 individual units to 300 different people.

Dabs, can I borrow... um... 11BTC.  I promise to pay you back one day.  I wish I was that kind of baller, mate.  God, I wish I was that kind of baller.

Sapphire 7950 Vapor-x was really bogging me down, at stock clocks it was at best around 350 kh/s, but I finally got it up to around 650 kh/s

-I 20 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 40960 --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1500 --target-temp 65

You guys see anywhere you think I could grab a few more hashes? Any attemp at using -g resulted in a crash.

Gonna let this run for the night and then on to the next cards!

using sgminer btw  Cheesy

The -g switch would probably work with a lower TC.  I couldn't guarantee you would see a difference though.  Vesper is the magician with this stuff.  I'm not sure how, but he always seems to pull some extra hashes out of his hat.  But 650kh is pretty respectable.  If the temps are good, I would leave it, but that's just me.

this place in amsterdam has started accepting POTCOINS!!! YEAHHHHHHHH

This needs to be put in the first post.  Is Potcoin your account or another person in the dev team?  Keeping the OP updated with info will help attract more forum users who can see who is accepting Potcoins.

This needs to happen, IMO.  As well as getting my pool listed in the pool list  Tongue

any news on exchanges?

Thatīs the main thing right now.

https://cryptorush.in just started up and has been trading the defunct Coinye coins(Koi on the site).  They seem open to new coins, so that could be a start.  I sold off my Coinye there without any issues.  I believe the site has a form for coin suggestions.  I suggest everyone just go there and submit a request.  It would probably happen a lot faster than one of the main exchanges and allow us to get off reddit and buy/sell threads.

-Fuse

Canīt enter there, "authentication required"

Still in beta, but working beta.  The main thread for the exchange has the user/pass.

Edit:

Username : cryptorush
Password : Dsdhoide84983420

You'll get a 404.html page, just erase that part of the address and you'll be at the live site.  It's just how they are limiting use of the site right now.  But I would think they would consider POT if they decided to take Coinye.

The 20POT block finder bonus that is being offered on POT.CripToe.Com is being extended indefinitely.  I will keep the bonus going for as long as the pool can sustain it.

OK as a total newbie to mining.. and Fuse I have been doing some reading but some i don't understand... is Tagcoin worth mining at all for someone like me?  I'm building my rig this week once the parts arrive and I have been keeping track of coinwarz to give me some idea what coin to mine.  I was leaning towards TAG and Worldcoin with Tag being the favourite. But these issues (and I haven't read all the thread to know yet) make it sound like i should reconsider?

A more experienced view please?

Also if I do has anyone got a suggestion for a good pool ?

Cheers

I started mining TAG early... maybe in the first couple days.  I didn't really get involved until about 2-3 weeks later I think.  It's a solid coin to mine if you ignore the orphan issue.  The vision Mark(@Tagbond) has for this coin is truly visionary, and a first in crypto.  One day, businesses on every continent will be using TAG for rewards, I guarantee it.  There is already an Asian market embracing it and thriving, and we all know what the Asian markets can do for crypto.

As far as the orphans go, you also have to take into consideration the fact that while we're having these issues, the difficulty is low.  AND the multipools aren't slamming it every 20 minutes.  Before the fork/orphan issues came up, we were getting upwards of 200 difficulty.  So now is a great time to bank some coins, regardless of the orphans, before the difficulty goes back up.  I'm earning more coins mining TAG now with the orphans than I was about 2-3 weeks ago.  You lose some rounds to orphans, but right after, you get rounds with difficulty in the 20s and 30s.

Look past the orphans and you'll see the value.  Some people just can't look past the orphans.  So like I always say... do what's right for you.  If mining a more stable(at this time) coin makes you sleep better at night, mine it.  TAG will continue to grow and exist.  You can always come back  Smiley.

Finally home and ready to set up my first dedicated mining rig! I also built a few PVC cases for my set-up, they work great and are easy to build.

Got those Gigabyte 7950's from you fuse  Cheesy I'll let you know how they hash later.

Got another Sapphire 7950 that I am hoping is not a dud.

And 2 brand spankin' new Gigabyte 280x's.

I'll post some stats later tonight

Wish me luck~

Sweet! Keep us updated.

I was able to sell 20k quite easily to a trusted user for 0.85BTC.  This should give you guys an idea of what you can expect in higher numbers.  At lower amounts, you should be well above 0.05BTC for 1k.

Selling for lower than that lowers the value the currency instantly.  If you guys want to make your money on this, sell at average or better, or hold and wait for it to go on an exchange.

1359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TagCoin - The World's First Rewards Coin - Mandatory update to v 1.3 on: January 26, 2014, 07:54:42 PM
Fair enough, but do remember that folk try out coins that pop up on coin warz and other places as being profitable and on the face of it that is not entirely dishonest to be fair but your pool message however should say that you may get sod all if you mine here to be a wee bit more accurate ? Or, it may be that you only expect experienced miners on these pools ?

.... anyway, any donations will be passed to the guys who wasted their newly aquired mining capability on TAG today. You have however made an assumption that I am myself out of pocket so to speak!

While Coinwarz(and similiar sites) is often a good metric for profitability, its fundamental flaw is that it only looks at two things- difficulty and price.  What it doesn't account for is the possibility of network issues with the various coins.  99% of the time, if a coin is leaps and bounds above the other coins in terms of profitability, it's because the coin forked and Coinwarz is on the lower difficulty fork.  So miners say, "Holy jeebus, I can make $500 a day with my 7790!", and then find out later that it was bunk.  Without verifying the information in the coin's announcement thread, you're just mining blindly.

As Regean said, "Trust, but verify."

As far as my news post not being entirely accurate- I believe that the people mining should at least have a grasp of the basic ideas and terms used in crypto.  That being said, if I wasn't aware of what an orphan is, I'd make sure I found out quick if what I was mining was having an issue with them.  That's just putting two and two together and getting four, mate.  I'm a pool OP, not a math teacher.  I can't hold every miner's hand and explain to them the ins and outs of mining.  It's their responsibility to be knowledgeable in their endeavors, whether that's in crypto or in life in general  Smiley.

For anyone who isn't sure what oprhans, or forks, or any other word thrown around in crypto means, there is a glossary at the following address for your reference.

And another mega deal! 20k - harsh negotiating ;p But all fair and in GOOD trust, so thank you user ny2cafuse (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=81419)!

In name of http://POT.CripToe.Com he also donated 2500 POT for a giveaway as part of the deal. 2500 in advance, 2500 when funds run dry ;p

Karma!

devnullius

I can verify that Devnullius provided a fast and trustworthy purchase of 20k coins at a very reasonable rate.  I can also verify our deal of 2.5k coins going to a giveaway that he will provide, and when the funds run out I will send another 2.5k for the next round.

I am updating his trust rating shortly after this post.
