Cool... sent you a little something.

Thanks, mate!

Hello.
So is the latest brand of Sandor's cpuminer sufficiently debugged so I can use it now without crashes or other strange anomalies? Wink
Is it stable and ready to hash 24/7 non-stop as with previous versions?
Thanks!

I have had excellent results with it on Raspbian with 20 gridseeds.

Sandor, I just want to say thank you for developing this fork of cpuminer.  It is a solid solution for those of us that want to run gridseeds on a RPi and to be able to walk away and not worry about anything.  Is the BTC address in your sig current?  I'd like to throw you a tip for making my days easier lol.

hash will also halve, and the coin will be extremely susceptible to a 51% attack.  Price will be unaffected as no one is really trading this coin anyway.

It's been susceptible to a 51% attack for quite a while now.

I agree that the price will probably remain the same.  There might be a small upward trend the first couple of days on the hopes of going to the moon, but it will probably even back out.

Pardon, are we talking about the same? POS (Proof of Stake) is not messy and works just the way mining does. In fact is a lot better than mining to keep the hashrate at a certain level. I hold several POS coins and they stake without problems.

When POS is implemented at launch, and it is implemented properly, it works.  Implementing POS midstream is a mess.  Look at the coins that tried this, and see where they are now.  Hell, look at most of the coins that started POS, and failed when POS started kicking in.

That aside... lets say POS was implemented.  Like TamiLee said, people hoard.  Coins will not move.  And for what... 2% per year?

I don't know... I've just seen enough POS implementations that failed miserably.  Maybe I'm just that grumpy old man telling the kids to get off my grass.

Hello Guys,

what do you think about the idea to enable a smal interest rate ( 2 or 3 % annuall ) for this coin (pos) ?
so shareholder have a small benefit for Holding their coins and i think many years ago with the "real gulden" you get some interest if you sent your Money to an save account at ING oder Rabobank maybe.

Maybe you like the idea

POS is an acronym for something else too.  Implementing POS is not a good idea.  It's messy, it rarely works properly without numerous tweaks, and it's generally not that great anyway in terms of reward/risk.

I'd strongly advise against POS.

Honestly, I would never trust a pool which advertises to use a fee of 0% ALWAYS.  I'm running a decent pool myself, dedicated hosting, which costs me quite a few euro's every month.  The fee is what is helping me in getting the hosting paid every month... and to be honest, I nearly break even some months, which makes this more like a hobby project I spent my own hard earned cash on.

Don't be silly.  Many pools make their fees 0%, and survive on donations alone.  In its prime, my Tagmining.com pool was easily handling 400-600MH on big swings, and was the number one pool in the world for TAG.  That pool resides on a $20/month VPS.  It is 100% possible to fund that with donations alone.

Don't judge on stats... judge on the actions of the pool op.

Rust can be bought with bitcoin directly from the Humble Bundle store, albeit at the retail value.

Another great pool, we are now good on the pool front for NLG Smiley

Fuse has run one of the best pools ever when I used to mine tagcoin. Honest and very professional, awesome to see really good pool owners setting up for NLG.

Thanks for the support, mates!  I will do my best to make sure I do right by the miners.

That being said:

NLG.CripToe.Com now giving out a 5%(50NLG) block finder bonus!

Thanks,

Greetings all,

I'd like to announce:

NLG.CripToe.Com is now open!
(link = NLG.CripToe.Com)

Features:

Pool server is located in Amsterdam for low latency.
1% pplns
Vardiff stratum connection(16-512)
Upcoming block rewards(awaiting a coin transfer).

I'm not going to fluff it up and make it out to be something it isn't.  Those who know me know my pools are generally really solid, and have very minimal downtime.  That's what I'm advertising.

PM is the best way to get a hold of me.  I'll check in here for pool notices if things need to be addressed.  If you want to see something changed, let me know, and I'll do my best to accommodate the request.

When the first coin transfer goes through to the pool, I will be turning on block rewards... so get your miners set up and hashing.

Thanks,

Fuse

Eventually ASIC tech will be out there that will concentrate A LOT of hash in VERY FEW HANDS, and then we will be back to square one (central bank).
The best hope is an ALGO that adapts to the hash and responds by scaling the amount of RAM required to run the algo to prevent a central power from dumping a billion dollars into a chip that can match the hash of the entire network for 100watts.

How? Who is developing this all mighty ASIC tech? And what is to stop them from doing the same thing to any other algorithm? Memory is dirt cheap. Memory was supposed to be the reason ASICs couldn't mine scrypt. Oops.

Bitcoin is open source and it uses protocol SHA256. Anybody is free to develop their own ASIC or new crazy futuristic chip to mine on the network. That is what an open market means.

Changing the algorithm just sets the game back a few years so you and and a handful of others can hold onto your obsolete technology.

I don't understand, what the point of a decentralized currency is then, if we are simply to hand it over to a centralized authority all over again? it would simply endup as another FIAT system where the 1% have complete control of the network and thus the ledger and ability to edit the ledger at will.

I already Have ASICS and I am anti ASIC I have 20MH in ASICS, and about 32 MH in GPUS, MY GPUS STILL PULL IN MORE$$$ than my ASICS so I don't really care much about the current state of ASICS, its more a philosophical issue for me than money, since i don't need the money.
All i am saying is, atleast for me, I have my ASICS ON POTCOINS and I use those asics to mine coins I pretty much intend to dump (because of the low kw/cost).
The coins I mine with GPUS, I really don't dump as often and I SEE THE GPU COINS HOLDING MORE VALUE.
EVERYTIME there is a slight run in the price of any ASIC coin i mine, I am forced to dump, as I KNOW that once it breaches a threshold of $$$/perKW invested, everyone else will ALSO DUMP.
which means ASICS put a HARD-CAP on the price any normal scrypt coin could ever reach (a % above KW invested).

GPU coins have better scarcity, hold more value and are more decentralized. to me thats a win, win, win,  and IMO they are more resistant to 51% attacks in general and they are more multipool resistant due to the fact that each rig needs a bit more special attention to maintain.

The best coin in 2014~2020, WILL BE the coin that manages to fuse the best decentralization strategy, with the best marketing strategy.
Thats the coin I want to be invested in with my KW/H$ for the long-term.
Potcoin has potential on the marketing front, which is why I hold about 50% of what I mine.

ASICs =/= Centralization.  If you don't believe that, you should take a look at a thing called Bitcoin.  CPU -> GPU -> FPGA -> ASIC, with most of that happening in the last year and a half.  Bitcoin is no less decentralized now than it was when it started... especially now that we got rid of that cancerous GOX.

All ASICs are going to do is strengthen the blockchain of a coin.  We could only be as lucky as to have all the POT miners keeping the blockchain secure and strong with ASICs.

Klondike is not dead. People still mine it. You can transfer coins, you can sell coins, people buy Klondike coins. Klondike is not dead.
It may be dead to some of you because you dumped your stash...if you dumped your stash of coins and wrote off Klondike, then why do you keep coming back here? You keep coming back because you know this coin has potential. Klondike is NOT Dead.

This.

People claiming this coin and that coin are dead need to understand that things in the crypto world move in an up and down cycle.  Klondikecoin, along with almost every other altcoin, is in a low point of the downward cycle.  Smart people are buying and mining like crazy right now, regardless of mining profitability.

Received a response today from Alex, and he has made things right by me for my order.  He said he would and he did.

I honestly believe that Alex is trying his best to make right by people, but there are just too many requests for one person to handle.  Give him time, and he will get back to you like he did with me.

GAW miners have the best reputation today. They have been around for a short time and as a member of the Gaw team, I can tell you we always do right by customers. I extend my apologies for your experience and I have PM you to make up for what was lacking. As an extension of Gaw miners I do my best to make customers happy. I am organising groupbuys here to get better prices for customers, but I understand sometimes the lack of response can be frustrating. I encourage all from now on to contact Gaw and they will provide service on my behalf.

Alex

Alex, I have not received any PM from you.  My review outlines our correspondence, or lack thereof.  I just want to know if you shipped the cables that you said you were going to ship.  If you haven't, and GAW is taking care of service, please forward my information to GAW and have them contact me.  I shouldn't have to chase down service like I have had to.

The fact that I get a faster response because of a negative review than I do through direct email is upsetting.  I would have given you a more positive review had you been more communicative.

-Fuse

I am still waiting on a response, either via email, PM, or response in this thread.

-Fuse

Well, it looks like you'll respond to other people, but not me.  I guess that's what kind of customer service a $3400 order gets you.  Let this be an example for people considering orders with Alex.

-Fuse

Hi Fuse,

I am sinecerely. I never received the email you sent me. PM me which email account you sent it from. I would have replied your email. Secondly, in the long message you posted, I missed the very last bullet point about still needing cables, so I didn't reply. I have PM you to find out what you need and for your inconvenience I am willing to make up for my failure to serve you with a refund.

Alex

PM received, and replied with refund address included.  Email you are missing on your end was forwarded to you again.
