According to the Peercoin Forum, they still plan to deliver Version 0.6 in August and are in the final testing rounds.

I look forward to 0.6 because it is the first major update since 0.3 in 2013 (!), and finally allows to disable the following of the centrally synced checkpoints. That means that it is actually the first decentralized Peercoin version.

Anyone interested in Peercoin can follow the newest updates here: https://talk.peercoin.net/c/general/official-updates

Wait, your telling me Peercoin will be decentralized finally? I always hated how it had to rely on those centralized parts.

Peer coin 1.55 vs bitcoin 4350.00 dollars that's 2775  peer coins equal one bit coin I personally think the ratio at the most should be 500 peer coins to one bitcoin and I think that's being generous to bitcoin but it's not my opinion that's counts it's the markets

Ppc has a smaller faster block chain then btc that's truly decentralized  and efficient I would think after the btc fork ppc could sky rocket

it is not faster, peercoin and bitcoin are same speed, 10 minute block spacing

peercoin was my 3rd coin i purchased many, many moons ago.

what is the utility of peercoin? it is lost by all the advanced shit. we need to brand this coin im sick of it. 101 pages in 6 years? Projects get that in 2 days today.

we have lost our way or are satisfied with v.06,07,08,09,10 etc...you know what I mean.

Just what can we do with it???

I am not spreading fud, like I said it was my 3rd coin I purchased and that was a loooooooooong time ago. always loved peercoin but we need to make this coins blockchain have some damn utility!!!

peace peercoin dudes and ladies that have been in this industry as long as I have. Sorry for the rant.

Branding and "marketing" has already happened some time ago - at the moment of the $10 hype in 2013. What has lacked is development - it's still a modified Bitcoin 0.6 :-/. And that's why Peercoin looks so olde now.

v0.6 is really a big step forward. It will bring Peercoin the decentralization it still lacks (and a little bit more modern code). Before businesses can adopt it, there must be trust building - and if v0.6 without mandatory checkpoint enforcement works as expected, then this can be the first step for that. But it's only a first step, others must follow.

And with this part of the rant I totally agree:

Quote
we need to make this coins blockchain have some damn utility!!!

But also in this aspect there is some development - look at PeerAssets and Indicium.

"Indicium is a financially driven token-issuance DAC built using PeerAssets, hosted on the Peercoin blockchain. It will form algorithmically chosen indices and baskets of cryptocurrencies and issue assets corresponding to the value of these baskets. Peercoin dividends and voting rights will be given to Indicium (IND) holders as a representation of ownership in the DAC. A federated approach will be taken, where a group of founders or a board of directors will perform managerial duties to facilitate operation."

ok, I guess i should shut my mouth. Interesting.

A short remark regarding smart contracts: If I have understood it the right way, then Peercoin's smart-contract-like features via PeerAssets will not be turing complete (like Ethereum's smart contract platform). But turing complete smart contracts have still to prove that they are really useful. So that is not necessarily a "problem" if turing-completeness is lacking, if major use cases (like dividends) can be implemented in another way.

From what I've understand from talking to the developers, you are correct. Turing complete has too wide of an attack space, which we don't want for Peercoin.
